Matcha Latte in Seattle, Washington... Searching my Yelp app for a coffee shop, I chose "Overcast Coffee" to match the morning weather. It was a bit chilly and drizzly... and it's Seattle! I expected it to be overcast! Street parking right in front of the cozy shop was easy. Inside, Overcast Coffee was warm and welcoming with comfy furniture, dim lighting, live plants, hipster/jazzy music, and a convenient restroom. Service was knowledgeable and efficient. I asked for sweetener on the side because I was warned that the matcha might be bitter since it's authentic... imported from Uji, Japan! The Matcha Latte with soy milk was perfect! The beautiful Latte art was a bonus! I understand that it's challenging to design something with soy milk, but this flower pattern was done so proficiently! Wow! This is a cool spot to hangout, do some laptop work, catch up on emails and Yelp reviews, or warm up from the Overcast weather outside! Note: I didn't need sweetener! The coffee is amazing, Service is impeccable with Jade and behind a bar staff gave a very friendly vibe to the cage. Ambience is woody/ Foresee/ and overcast definitely fit the name, and not to mention the Cortado added banana pudding cream is amazing. On top of that the dog MVP wall and the staff wall just add a little personal touch to the whole place. Definitely check it out. read more

Fun experience with the crew this morning! The young lady was extremely friendly and the male barista was great! I just had surgery on my finger this morning and he showed he has to have surgery on the same finger, and when showing me accidentally flipped me off. I threatened a bad review but I was laughing too hard to be taken seriously because we both had issues with the same finger! The shop is quite small and could use a little refreshening. But to be honest, the quality of the interaction, coffee and pastry more than made up for whatever was lacking in ambiance. Highly recommend! Thank you guys!! read more

Cute little cafe with friendly service. Had an oat milk caramel capp which was perfectly made. Also had the spinach & cheese croissant- was cold in the middle and very thick consistency (not sure if it was the cheese or the béchamel). Not bad but would try something else next time. I was early for a dinner at Bai Tong so I needed some place to wait, so I ducked in here and I'm so glad I did. It's small, but they have four different seating areas- high chairs lining the wall or the plate glass windows, two tops off to the side, a lounger area, and a couple of tables out front so you can sit with the pups. I ordered the white mocha and the barista was very friendly and served it up quickly. The lounge area was a nice place to relax and it was perfect for the hour I had to kill. read more

The overall coffee delivery and quality end product to the customer was below satisfactory. Went in on a random Monday 4/6 for a noon pick me up with my boyfriend. We ordered two lattes and the quality of the beans/ overall latte experience was subpar and disappointing. The flavor was lacking. The creaminess and espresso richness was not present. Instead notes of instant coffee and ice overpowered. I would avoid this spot. read more

*Shoutout to fellow Yelp Elite Diana X and her terrific post for Overcast Coffee* I literally was in my car an hour after reading her post. There's a window of opportunity before traffic bunches up on I-5. I have my fave cafes on CapHill, but Diana's post was that compelling to check out another indie (9/20/24). Amazed to snag street parking with a reasonable hour rate in front of Eltana, the Montreal style bagel site. It is located on 12th Avenue, between EPike & EPine, next door to the SPD East Precinct. They have limited bright yellow sidewalk seating, a row of onsite two tops (all occupied by the laptop crowd), few seats by the merch display, and counter seating by the entrance & front counter where I ended up at. Nice interior with plants, decent vibe with upbeat music playing, and a welcoming trio of baristas. There was a steady stream of customers for onsite and takeout. I had a 16oz dark chocolate mocha and a sizeable ham & cheese croissant onsite. I appreciated the offer for it to be heated up. I ended up hanging out for an hour. Very pleasant. Definitely I will add this to my CapHill cafe rotation. read more

Overcast Coffee was recommended to me by a few people and only two blocks from where my friend lives! We stopped by two Sunday mornings ago for a drink. I don't think they roast their own coffee here, but they were selling beans from "This Coffee Life" and it's what they use for their drinks too. I liked that they had an extensive pour over list, so I chose the Colombian single origin that morning and I thought it was an enjoyable cup of coffee. My friend got the matcha latte which she enjoyed. I ended up buying a bag of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans for 20.00 and hope it turns out well! read more

Stopped by in the afternoon and it was packed! Ambiance and interior was very nice but since the seats were full I was only there to get a drink togo. There was a small sign that introduced their seasonal drink: earl grey & lavender latte but I wanted to double check if it was both flavors included into one drink or two separate ones. I asked the barista and they told me it was one drink, but was kinda dry/sarcastic with their response which threw me off. I ordered the drink anyway and I was satisfied with how it wasn't too milky--you can actually taste the espresso! However, the syrups created an interesting combination of flavors and it almost tasted kinda savory rather than sweet/floral. I love this new addition to Pine and 12th in the central part of Cap Hill. Although it's a small area, it has such a lovely vibe and is perfect for grabbing a coffee with a friend or working. The staff are really friendly. Coffee-wise, terrific. I'm a fan of the local Overcast Coffee locations, and this one is top notch. They always have expert baristas and fantastic lattes. I also adore their matcha. They use Mizuba Matcha, which sources Uji matcha from small, family-run farms. I first discovered this brand in Portland, and the attention to detail and quality is evident in the fact that they use this specific brand. The seasonal syrup was earl grey lavendar, which I added to the matcha for a fantastic combo. Simple menu, but huge attention to quality and detail. read more

Super cute and cozy cafe with classic drink options. I love their matcha latte, it's perfectly made and not too watered down. It's a bid hidden from the outside but the inside of the cafe has very warm and relaxing vibes. The staff is also very friendly! Been to this new location a couple of times and it's become my go-to post-barre shop for busy mornings. In the mornings they only offer quiches for food the times I've gone, but each time I got the quiche Lorraine and it's perfectly filling to get the day started (take into consideration I need a LOT of food to feel awake). They have a well-balanced espresso that's a good blend of fruity and chocolaty with silky body. I neglected to look at the price of retail beans (sorry retail coffee folks) but they had a few different roasts and some cool merch for sale. The ambiance is relaxing, full of plants, and has ample seating options. The service has always left a positive impression, and will be back again soon! read more

I came here today cause it was thanksgiving & most coffee shops are closed today & saw This place was open. It close to my ramen spot so it a perfect walk within three minutes. Set in the heart of Capitol Hill, Overcast Coffee has got great cafe props. It has a pretty small store front and it might be easy to miss it as you walk by its lowkey entrance on12th Ave. East. Inside, it is a small establishment, with a few small tables and lowish ceiling. It is, for lack of a better word, cosy. If I lived in the area, I think this is the sort of spot I would take my laptop and do some work while I sipped on espresso drink. And the coffee? Very good, professionally made. Their baristas are efficient and well-trained in their craft. My normal order cortado had just the right ratio of creaminess to coffee flavor. The beans they use are excellent, if just a touch fruitier than I like. Other offerings I can't speak much to: I haven't tried their pastries, but they looked really appealing as well. I have not yet had the gumption to try a chagaccino (which I couldn't help noticing was really pricey). But if I were around more, I would certainly give it a go. Has it been the best coffee place I've had in Seattle? Well, no--there's a lot of very good competition. But Overcast certainly stacks up well in most regards and if I lived in the neighborhood, this would be a regular spot for me. 4.5 stars. Recommended. read more
