16-ounce iced Latte ($6.00) with vanilla syrup ($0.80). Also got an 8-ounce Matcha Latte ($4.50, not pictured).

I had a 16-ounce iced latte ($6.00) with vanilla syrup (+$0.80) and it was good -- cold, refreshing, and hit the spot. High-quality coffee. We also got an 8-ounce hot matcha latte ($4.50). My wife found this place (Overcast Coffee Company) after doing a quick Yelp search of cafes near us. Overcast was the highest-rated one. We just had lunch at Kobuta and Ookami (I highly recommend that place for tonkatsu, by the way) and needed coffee to counteract our jetlag and food coma. Overcast was only a 3-minute walk up the street. The cafe is tiny with no seating inside, but there is patio seating outside on the sidewalk (uncovered). Overcast is located on street level of the Kaiser Permanente North Building in Capitol Hill. Overcast also has a second, bigger location on the south side of the neighborhood at 1517 12th Ave. Service was five stars. The staff was very nice. When my wife asked about their syrups, they told us they had a housemade lavender syrup. Unfortunately, they were sold out at the time of our visit and were apologetic. One of the baristas complimented our friend on her outfit. The shop had a variety of bagged coffee beans and food/baked goods for sale. For the latter, examples include croissants, Danishes, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, buns, cookies, and scones. The coffee menu was simple and straightforward, which I appreciated.

Mod place attached to a bike shop! There's a nice patio outside with a cool mural. The staff was super knowledgeable about the coffee. We asked about the brew, and they wove a tale from bean to honey processing. I was swooning at the coffee jargon. Pastries were yummy and made for a good breakfast. Seems like a solid and lowkey place to do some work or catch up with a friend!

Very cute spot for a cup of coffee. They have a handful of small tables and plugs if you need to get work done. Generous slice on the quiches and the drip coffee also comes with 1 free refill. It's a smaller, intimate feel with some cozy vibes -- everything I love in a coffee shop.

Cute coffee shop right next to kaiser! No seating inside but they have tables outside. Got an iced matcha and they don't add any sweetener so I added vanilla syrup. Flavor was decent and service was relatively fast

Had to go into Kaiser for an appointment, smelled the bacon from the lobby at Overcast and I was excited to try it out! The reviews looked awesome and so did the matcha. My friend and I ordered and the girl making the food was really nice, even the guy taking the order... initially. After we got our iced matchas with honey and noticed how milky they were, we nicely asked for some more matcha. The guy taking the order was willing but his attitude switched up real quick. It was giving "fake customer service" "mhm" and he looked visible annoyed. My friend popped her lid off and split a bit on the counter to which his response was "" lol. You could tell he was just annoyed. Real epic first experience. They were hyping up the food and I was excited to come back, but I prolly wont lol. I hate feeling like an inconvenience as a paying customer. OH, and the matcha wasn't good even after the extra matcha! The pic I'm uploading is after we asked for some more matcha. I'm not a matcha snob but it was MILKY before and asked to be sweetened with honey and there's no sweetness... would've asked for it to be sweetened but I didn't want to annoy them for anything else even though I payed & it wasn't busy. Anyways. Sad it didn't work out.

Super friendly customer service. Local coffee shop vibes. It's a pretty small shop, no place to sit inside the coffee shop, but there's chairs outside for the warmer days and there's some seating inside Kaiser itself. I've ordered their lattes, and it's pretty flavorful. They have all the common syrups. The have some food there- breakfast sandwiches and pastries.

Super friendly staff! Very small shop but the quality is so tasty; ordered an orange cardamom latte with oat milk. They have treats to order but didn't have any during this first visit. Would visit again.

This was my first time trying Overcast. I broke the review down into: Food, Service and Ambiance. Food: I don't know how good the cooking is since I only ordered an 8oz latter but I would say taste-wise the coffee is better than Starbucks and most of the other cafe chains I've visited (including Nero, definitely Dunkin', and a few others). It doesn't have that burnt coffee taste, once it got to the right temp it tasted very clear and crisp. Overall I'd say that it's better than most others. The only downside is the price: $5 (before tip), though I feel like for Seattle that's pretty standard. Service: Not too much to say here. The guy who served my coffee was very friendly and talkative. He added a good vibe. Ambiance: It's across from Safeway and on a busy street, plus the only seating is outside. Aside from that it's very neighborhood-ey which I like. Overall: For sure recommend trying it. At the moment I'd say I like it more than any of the other cafes on 15th.

Come here and you'll understand the perfect 5 stars. Great vibes and music when ordering at the counter & then you get this smooth coffee (or matcha) latte that will make you question why you go to other spots down the road. If this place had more space so I can come and do some work + vibe out to their awesome playlist, I'd be there even more often than we come here already. Also, the owner is so nice! He genuinely wants you to love what you get and you can feel it.

Friendly, quick service. I like the very conversational staff even in the morning! It wakes me up!

    Pumpkin Spice Latte

Writing out postcards on this rainy day. Nice rustic vibe. I got a matcha latte with vanilla and had to get a pumpkin spice obviously-- it's october, come on now. Latte art for the win Talked to the barista for a bit before leaving and they were very friendly. pumpkin spice was amazing and found out it's homemade and not a store bought syrup! super cute place worth a visit.

Latte was too milky. I don't know if this is the norm at this shop or I might've just gotten a bad one. But if you like stronger coffee, let the barista know or get something different. Aside from that the cafe is nice and the service was fast.

My first time trying overcast coffee. It was recommended by one of my coworkers. Can't believe I haven't gone till today. The latte I ordered was amazing with great aroma of the coffee and nice blend, smoothness of the milk. Heard they have different pastries and would love to come back to try other items. Highly recommend!

Coffee and vanilla latte is just ok here. No indoor seating at all. The staff are nice but the coffees were disappointing.

Exposed brick wall and warm tones from the wood furniture makes this shop a cozy third place. A few indoor plants give it a fresh touch. The baristas here are definitely dedicated to their craft! Their drink offerings are standard, although they also have housemade syrups and specialty drinks (seasonal mochas, lattes, etc) if you want to try something different. I love how they highlight their single origin espresso on the menu with the tasting notes. They also offer matcha and teas if you're more into that. I haven't tried any bakery goods, but looking at the pastry case, they're quite popular. Victrola embodies the perfect Seattle coffeehouse- one that I wish people knew more widely rather than the twin tailed siren that's spread globally...

I don't normally drink coffee (I'm more of a tea person, if all the boba and tea shop reviews I…read morewrite don't say anything!), but I'm always up for new experiences, especially ones that allow me to expand my taste horizons and ability to describe flavors and aromas. After booking a tea tasting at a local tea shop, I went around looking for coffee tastings and found Victrola. Every Friday at 11AM, they offer a free tasting class, so we, of course, booked the very next Friday! Arriving at the shop a bit before 11AM, it was pretty full, with most tables taken and a short line of 2-3 people in front of me. We checked in with the cashier and he said the barista was getting things ready. Maybe 5 minutes later, we were led to the room in the back, where the barista introduced the tasting experience and handed us two sheets of paper, one with the anatomy of a coffee cherry, and the other with their coffee flavor wheel. For this week, it was only us two for the tasting, so we had a full monopoly of the barista (according to him, the prior week was 8 people!). We were able to try two coffees - both single origin, one from Guatemala and the other from Colombia. We started by sniffing the beans and grounds, with the Guatemalan emanating notes of lightly roasted peanuts (per tasting notes, it's milk chocolate, orange, and "elegant") and the Colombian with dark soy and umami notes (per tasting notes, it's pineapple, melon, and date), at least to my nose. The barista brewed both via pour over (if I remember correctly, it was 203F water with 20g of the Guatemalan, 24g of the Colombian in 360g of water). I forgot the exact grind sizes he used. Interestingly, the flavor profile of the Colombian was completely different to me between the grounds and the final brew. Very fruity throughout - I'm not that adept at description, but it's definitely a fresher, crisp fruit, not dried fruit, and not red fruit or berries, nor citrus. I'll have to file this one away as pineapple and green apple, per the barista. In terms of mouthfeel, it's thick, almost syrupy, coating the mouth with the fruity flavors. The Guatemalan, on the other hand, is completely different, starting with roasted coffee, then still with the peanut notes, but also adding a caramel-like essence. Very 'brown' on the color wheel. Mouthfeel-wise, thinner, watery like tea. I have never had good quality coffee before and this was certainly an experience that opened my eyes to how good coffee can actually be. I still have a ton of tea leaves to go through, but perhaps when I'm nearing the end, I'll have to start drinking more coffee. Tea, then chocolate, and now maybe coffee? My wallet is crying...
