I ordered the food off of UberEats and I am for sure to say that I won't order from here again. The food was very sweet. It was as if they added extra sugar to everything. The Alaska roll had too much sweet unagi sauce and the bc roll strangely had miso sauce on it. The croquette had a very strong sweet flavour to it. The sad part was that it did not have that nice crunchy outside. The worse roll was the crunchy roll. It is basically a fried California roll with sweet unagi sauce on it. Definitely not my favourite. The only thing that is really edible is the salmon nigiri that came with my Alaska roll combo. Only pro here is that the sushi or prices are at the lower end.

Portions and quality not reflected in the prices. The rolls had a tiny slice of salmon inside. Service was great at pick up. Order was made fast.

Decent but snack sized sushi place at Lougheed and Bainbridge. Parking is available in the strip mall lot. The place appears to be run by Koreans. The sushi is therefore Korean style, much like Sushi Garden. Staff were friendly. No complaints. The sushi is definitely a bit on the smaller side. Even the Alaska roll was bite sized. Taste was decent, but friends and I left hungry. Something to keep in mind. Quality was decent but nothing stuck out.

This place is super quick with service and food has been great the last few years I've been coming. I think it can possibly be a bit more expensive than usual but the quality is there.

My husband picked up take out for us from here one night and we were surprised at how good the rolls were given the reviews. We found the pricing and food to both be really good and at par or better than the places around our home in north Burnaby. Will be coming back for more take out!

It was more than ordinary. The spicy tuna was topped with sriracha. Honestly. My 3 year old nephew could do better. Very basic, not worth the price. The rice was a little crunchy and the wasabi was still dry, since they probably use wasabi powder and didn't put enough water. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Expensive and disappointing. Thank you Gaya sushi for that. The only reason I'm giving row stars it because it was fast delivery.

I've heard good things about this sushi place so I came in with a friend. Japanese restaurants tend to have excellence in customer service and good at maintaining the cleanliness of their venue. This restaurant is really good at that. The washrooms are also pretty clean. Their rolls are average and not memorable. I think that they had new sushi chefs and they were being trained at the time of my visit. I'll give it a try again next time.

We were lazy last Thursday night to cook dinner, so we decided to order sushi from Gaya Sushi! We ordered: Prawn Tempura, Atlantic Salmon Sashimi, Crazy Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Fire Cracker Roll. Everything was delicious! Pre-covid, we used to come here to dine-in all the time, and it's always consistently good. We've even introduced a few friends to this place as well! Worth checking out!

Looked fine. Taste was a No from me though

Meh. Ordered via Doordash and just straight up did not enjoy the rolls i ordered. They sounded good but they tasted off. The house roll tasted fishy. I love fish, but this was too fishy a flavour. Not sure if the fish was bad or what. And the yam avocado something roll was kinda soggy and mushy.

I love Gaya sushi. It's like a more quality controlled Sushi Town. Prices are a bit higher than Sushi Town an Sushi Garden, but they make up for it in their quality. I like to order the combos since deciding a la carte proves to be difficult since they have an extensive menu. Spicy combo is delicious, and definitely my favorite. I usually do takeout, but it's a nice clean restaurant... no dodgy washrooms or anything like that.

Cheap- yes Friendly staff- yes Tasty food- yes Good portions- yes Will I go back? Hell yes! Items I've tried: fire cracker roll yaki udon house roll chopped scallop nigiri Inari nigiri Ebi mayo Ebi sunamono Dragon roll .... And I've liked them all! I've been here about 5 times and do not hesitate to go back. I actually crave the fire cracker roll. They have special rolls and they are only $5-7 dollars. If you call ahead to pick up, they generally get it ready within 10 mins. Have you noticed yet? I love this place.

She then left to let us peruse the menu. We took awhile to look so we were asked at once point if we were ready and we sis we needed a bit more time so the server was delightfully accommodating and said whenever we were ready to give a server a call. Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

Sashimi and sushi were just ok, a bit below average. Tempura was decent. Chicken skewers were too salty. Fried rice was also ok, pyramid style presentation was good. Cheese cake was half frozen. Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
