The ambiance here is elegant, yet relaxing. Right off the bat, I noticed our server's excellent customer service. The food was good. I got the mother's day special to share with another person. It was on the more expensive side, and for the amount of food you get, it didn't feel like it was worth the $90, but I really enjoyed the dish. Everything was very fresh and tasted lovely. The scallop melted in your mouth and was slightly sweet. The citrus dipping sauce that came with the dish was refreshing. I ordered two additional rolls as I wasn't full. Both the scallop and truffle lobster rolls are my favorite rolls to get from Hello Nori and they didn't disappoint. 4.5 stars read more

Friday date night at Hello Nori. As usual, I ordered the 5 roll combo ($34) that includes a negitoro, chopped scallop, snow crab, yellowtail and truffle lobster hand rolls. In addition, I had my usual sweetened nitro matcha and my boyfriend had a Sapporo beer (bottle). The negitoro was okay, not my favourite but yellowtail, chopped scallop, and snow crab rolls were solid. My absolute favourite is the truffle lobster roll, which I ordered an extra roll as one is never enough! Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with my extra truffle lobster roll and after waiting 10 to 15 minutes, I had to inquire about it. The staff apologized for the error and due to the wait, gave me the extra truffle lobster roll on the house. With an additional spicy shrimp roll, our bill total was $57.60 including taxes and excluding tip. We had a promo $10 credit to use so our total came to $47.60 plus tip. *Pro tip: the Nitro matcha drink comes with unlimited refills and I managed to drink 3 glasses of it - yum! **The new Happy Hour here is now with the purchase of a 4 roll ($30), 5 roll ($34), or 6 roll ($39) combo, you get a free drink from a list to choose from that includes alcoholic and non-alcoholic options that typically range from $5 to $14 each. read more

Really cool spot! With gorgeous interior. We got the 6 preselected rolls. By favs were the scallop, crab, and lobster but all were great. And good service too! They service us with hot water and topped up our ginger. We used a discount found on their instagram where if you sign up, you get $10 off per person read more

Was introduced to this place by some local family and had a wonderful experience! Lucky enough they had four open seats as soon as we walked in. Food: (4/5) I've never done a hand roll experience like this one before, so I was told to get the 5 hand roll set menu which included negitoro, yellowtail, hokkaido scallop, snow crab, and truffle lobster. From least to most favorite, I would order them: truffle lobster, snow crab, yellowtail, negitoro, and hokkaido scallop. I'm not too fond of truffle, which is why it was my least favorite. We also got the aburi oshi which I loveddd. Together, I would say that this was the perfect amount of food for me. One thing that I love about daytripping to Canada is that the seafood quality is FAR better than in Washington. Everything is so fresh and it really reflects here. Service: (5/5) Everyone here is so incredibly accommodating. They explained everything even though it was a bit hard to hear because of the seating arrangement. Other notes: I believe this is part of the Brentwood mall so we simply parked in the garage. read more

Went cause of the $10 gift card on social media, first time trying it out! Server was nice we could watch the food being made in front of us! We loved the interior design and thought everything was fresh! We tried the king salmon, spicy shrimp, and salmon oshi. Wish the bluefin tuna handroll was not so minced though. Pricy for the food, but good for the experience. Would do again during a special occasion! read more

Solid meal. Service from Sunny was nice and quick. New happy hour menu after 9:30pm - order a set meal and get a free drink! The lychee zen was very nice. All the rolls were solid. read more

Always a good time at Hello Nori. Love how the hand rolls are super crispy and fresh. Service can be a bit slow depending on how many customers they have in the moment as they usually only have one chef. read more

I came here with my girl friends and the server was nice enough to let me change my drink to the lychee drink. I did not like the green tea matcha (i'm used to my matcha being milky)! Ambiance was OK (no where to leave my jacket on). I personally would not come back here - only to grab a snack or drink. It was hard to catch up and talk to my girlfriends!! Really nice & professional staff though! read more

Hello Nori is always a welcome treat to come to. Although they have sets, I usually order a la carte to get the rolls I really want. The octopus is smoked to perfection and is soft and tender. The shrimp aburi seared. With each hand roll delicately wrapped. read more

Another transit friendly spot with plenty of Parking - this time located at the Amazing Brentwood. Location is very clean and very bright - seating is tight - as the hand rolls are crafted directly in front of you - you will want to make a reservation - as this place get busy and fills fast - especially during peak meal times. Service was very quick - and they are very attentive - I mean I guess it's hard to ignore you in this type of setting - team was knowledgeable and answered questions with ease. Hand rolls are very fresh - however i felt they lacked volume - pretty pricey in my opinion - however I guess this is more of a pay for the experience - I had to find additional food afterwards - as this might not satisfy the big eaters. read more

Tidy minimalistic sushi bar, friendly services, and their hand rolls are decent. Their recipes are standardized, weight of sushi rice, amount of sashimi are all set and the same in every location. You really don't need a chef to be making it. But it's really fresh, seaweed is fresh and crisp, and they make it one by one. Been to different locations several times, and it's been quite pleasant. Perhaps they are a chain, it lacks the personal touch though. read more

hello nori at brentwood offers a sleek, minimalist dining experience with counter seating only and no reservations. i arrived before 6:30 pm on a thursday, with a party of five ahead of me. after checking in, i was seated immediately, even though my friend hadn't arrived yet. while waiting, i was asked if i could move seats to accommodate another party, which i was happy to do. the space is well thought out--there are hooks under the counter for bags, and the open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs prepare each hand roll fresh. zoe, one of our servers, was personable and attentive, and our ginger and wasabi were replenished multiple times. i started with the house-brewed nitro matcha, served cold and lightly sweetened, which was refillable. i ordered the ebi and salmon oshi--each came with three pieces and was very good, though i would have liked a more generous portion. six pieces would have been ideal. i also had two lobster truffle hand rolls--the rice was warm and well-seasoned, the filling delicious, and the nori crisp, but i couldn't taste the truffle. still feeling a little peckish, i ordered the hokkaido scallops hand rolls, and it was fresh, clean, and tasty. the hand rolls are made in front of you, one at a time, and served immediately--it's recommended to eat them right away for the best texture and flavour. they're more of a light snack--if they were cones, they'd be more substantial. the menu isn't extensive, but what they do, they do well. while slightly on the pricier side, the quality is solid. great for a casual and stylish dining experience, but if you're looking for a filling meal, you might need to order a bit more. read more

Hello Nori is in the Amazing Brentwood. It took me a bit of time to find them; its behind the building across the street from Addidas and Nike stores. Parking is free for 3hrs if you park further down by the Indigo outdoor parkade - just register your license plate. I came here for lunch. The layout of the restaurant is set as 1 large U-shape bar table with stool seating facing the staff who are making your handrolls so you can see all the action. There are hooks under the table to hang your purse and coat hanger by the door for jackets. We ordered the $29, 5-pc handroll set per person. It turned out to be super filling. The rolls tasted good but the seaweed was a bit tough to bite through so most of the time I ended up with a mouthful of half the roll in my mouth. My favorite was the truffle lobster handroll as you can really taste the ingredients. I also had the nitro matcha which included free refills. You can get it sweetened or unsweetened. I had mine sweetened but still found it not sweet enough so I let the waiter know and they were great about adjusting it until it tasted right for me. The service was attentive and amazing. FYI for the parents out there: We saw at least 2 babies there with their parents. They were in high chairs that hang off the side of the table. Super cute and the waiter vouched they were baby friendly for sure. read more

Hello Nori is a nice mix of casual with sitting at the bar as your food is prepared in front of you. And a high end atmosfere with the slate plates and overall look of the restaurant. We ordered the 5 piece set menu which was perfect for 1 person to get to try a curated list of rolls. My personal favorite was the yellow tail and the crab hand rolls. Service was fantastic, great energy from the servers and they were super attentive. read more

Hello Nori is a good restaurant in Brentwood area with a bar seating around an open kitchen. Good place to visit and their menu has few options. I wish there were more options to choose though. I did like the experience and I did like their service. They were super friendly and well knowledgeable about their menu. My favourite food was their sashimi. They were really fresh and yummy. I wish this restaurant was more high end as they mentioned on their website. Their lobster roll I was expecting to have more elevated flavour. I hope when I'll come back, their sushi will have more flavours. But they are on the right track. read more

I have been waiting for ages for the West Vancouver location to open (I'm located in North Vancouver), so my family decided to order from the Brentwood location for my Birthday. Pick up time was quoted perfectly and it was ready when we arrived. The anticipation was so high, especially after we opened the sturdy, aesthetic packaging. The aburi was tasty, as most aburi is, but I was some what let down by the maki sushi. Overall, things were yummy and textures were good, I just feel that the "hype" and cost did not match the quality. Based off of social media too, the filling was minimal and lack lustre. Although nothing was fishy, something like the truffle lobster roll should have really packed a punch! I look forward to trying it out again in person, I hope it lives up to it all! read more

Hello Nori - Toyoso Platter - Sushi Bars Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

We used their online $10 promo discount to try them out. We arrived during their happy hour, which gave us a free drink for our $36 6 piece combo. There was 1 sushi chef and 1 server/bartender behind the bar. There were only 2 other customers besides my table of 2. The server/bartender looked like she was going through some personal issues making her miserable. She babbled really quickly explaining their process. I asked for 2 hot waters while she was pouring my drink. She acknowledged me, but never gave me our water. She started clearing our eating area before I even finished chewing my last sushi. I had to pass her my empty plates while still chewing, I still had 3/4 of my drink left. She placed our bills in front of us while I'm still sipping my drink, I was feeling extremely rushed to finish my drink. Like Denny's, we had to go to counter near entrance to pay. The sushi chef was nice, but I felt wayyyy too rushed. We were told to eat sushi within 10 seconds. I didn't have time to breath before my next piece was placed in front of me. Their nori is heated to remain crispy, this was the only positive experience I had. For this price range, the service was extremely poor, felt like I was eating at a cheap fast food place. So glad I had that $10 discount so I felt less scammed, and my $15 HH drink was free. I don't think it's worth this price range at all. We were in & out in less than 1 hour. We're not planning on returning. LOL! read more

The rolls which they are known for are delicious. My favourite was the truffle lobster. I also really liked toro. Definitely get the sample set so you can try everything. There aren't many cooked food options, if any. I would say prices for rolls work out to be higher than a regular joint but make it in front of you in omakase style. Service is great. It looks like bar seating only so better for smaller parties. Ambiance is trendy and clean. read more

We had the day off so fiance and I checked out this new location for lunch yesterday. This was his first time ever and I've been to the Robson location once. We both opted for the Bite of Burnaby menu. For $35 each, we each got a Miso Soup, 4 hand rolls: Tamago, Toro, Snow Crab, and Truffle Lobster, two mochi ice creams, and an Ebi Oshi or Salmon Oshi (we chose one of each). We very much enjoyed our meal. The hand rolls were delicious, with both our favourites being the Truffle Lobster hand roll (of the 4). Both the Salmon and Ebi Oshi were so good. And the mochi ice cream was a nice way to end the meal. Flavours we got were vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and mango (they were out of matcha). I loved the mango and his fave was the strawberry. Service and staff were great. It was very well organized and efficient. We will definitely be back! read more

Don't think this needs any introduction but they now have a spot at Brentwood! Always a great spot for some fresh hand rolls. I love the truffle lobster but the special ikura was my favourite this meal. Watch out for the slippery floors though - I almost slipped on the way in. read more

Came here on their grand opening day to finally try out their hand rolls for the very first time. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with bar seatings for everyone so that the chefs can make the handroll right in front of you and hand it to you as soon as it made for ultimate freshness. Before ordering they also offer you a small little tablet when soaked turns into a towel to clean your hands before you eat. Very thoughtful touch. I ordered a few rolls to try a few from the set menu and added a few additional. The truffle lobster and toro was amongst my favorites! And I really enjoyed how the seaweed was super crispy. A fun experience! read more

We had dinner here before our event. For the two of us, the bill came to $100. We each ordered the 5-hand roll set, miso soup, and shared the Ebi and Salmon Aburi sushi. My favorite was the yellow tail and truffle lobster. The hand roll was served one after another at a good pace. All sushi was served in warm rice and the nori was crisp. The miso soup was very good and the Aburi sushi was so delicious. I would prefer to order more Aburi if I come back again. We were a little disappointed that the Yuzu Radler was sold out and would have loved to try it. Overall, food and service were 4 stars. The restaurant was nice and modern. This is definitely a place to eat and dash since you are sitting at the bar and it is not really comfortable seating. Came here for their Bite of Burnaby, and definitely a solid meal! Heads up, they don't do reservations, and they also don't text when your table is ready, so you have to go back to check where you are in line. Their food is quite solid, and the ingredients are obviously quite fresh. The miso soup was delicious and piping hot, which is the best temperature for soup. The aburi were both quite good and flavourful, but the ebi was thin. The hand rolls were all consistent, with such nice nori and perfectly cooked rice. The tamago was as good as you'd expect it to be. The toro was a little fishier, and though it was soft, I wasn't overly impressed. The snow crab and truffle lobster were both really delicious with lots of flavour and the perfect texture. The truffle was stronger than I expected; I had no doubts about what I was eating! We ended up ordering a king salmon and a Hokkaido scallop roll as well. The salmon was soft but didn't have much flavour. The scallop was a little better, again great quality seafood just left a little something to be desired in the flavour department. We finished off the night with the mochi ice cream, which were soft and a perfect mochi texture in my opinion, but the ices cream was a little icy. No big deal. We had a couple cocktails, the lychee berry one and the sakura blossom one, I forget their names now but both were light and sweet. Service was good, the way that the restaurant is set up in a U-shape ensures you're well taken care of. It's a unique concept, and tries to cultivate a sense of community, I think. I liked it for the most part, but I did find that the settings were a little more cramped, and the seats were small. I was never uncomfortable, though. Overall, a really pleasant dinner with good quality food. For the two of us, our bill came to about $135 after tax and tip. read more

Food was good and the service was excellent. The manager was very friendly as well! It's an interesting experience to see the rolls made right in front of you. Unique and creative open kitchen style restaurant. Great quality of ingredients. But seats are too tightly packed.
