I would not recommend doing business with this company if you value your time and expect to work with a serious, professional roofing contractor. Gary Fox Roofing was initially recommended by the previous homeowner's real estate agent. They performed an inspection and replaced several broken roof tiles. On January 13, 2025, I contacted Gary Fox Roofing to request an inspection and an estimate after additional roof tiles had come off during a recent wind event. I was told they were approximately two to three weeks out and that I should follow up if I didn't hear back. Rather than taking responsibility for follow-up once they were available, I was told that I needed to keep checking back if I hadn't heard from them--an approach I found unprofessional. When I followed up on January 27, I was told my request was "on a list," but no appointment was scheduled and no timeframe was provided. I was again told to check back in a few weeks. I followed up again on February 26 and again on March 11. Each time, I was told they were busy and that I should continue checking back. At no point was an inspection scheduled or an estimate provided. In my experience, there was no effective scheduling or follow-up process, and the burden was placed entirely on me to repeatedly call or email in hopes that something would eventually happen. After nearly two months of effort with no progress, I hired another roofer who handled the job promptly and professionally. Based on my documented experience, communication and follow-through were lacking. If you value your time, I would look elsewhere. Do not use this roofing company - I should have read these reviews prior to allowing him to do work on my home because there appears to be a pattern with his behavior. I purchased a home in Dana Pt about 6 months ago and was referred to Gary by my realtor for a roof inspection. He gave my roof a good review, with a few exceptions he suggested we address, and we paid him for that work. $150+ $495 Assuming we had a solid roof according to his inspection and repairs, the rains came in December, and my roof immediately began leaking in our master bedroom, onto a brand-new upholstered bed. We called him a couple of times, and then, finally, he got defensive, saying, "Just because he inspected it and did repairs before that doesn't guarantee the roof won't leak???!?" So knowing more rain was coming and he was familiar with our roof, we had him come out to patch the roof for now - $395. He said he would send me an estimate for more permanent repairs that he would do once the rain stopped - We followed up and he sent over an estimate for $1000, I questioned the fact that were was no detail of what work would be complete and on a phone call explained that his roofer would come out and do extensive work around the perimeter of my roof that would include removing old material and refilling and sealing with new material. I wanted to believe Gary was telling the truth, so I approved this work, especially because he already been here When his roofer came out, he spent 20 minutes on my roof and said it was all done - I reached out to Gary and said there was no way that was worth $1000 of time and materials and that he should adjust this price - he finally gave in and dropped it by $200 and with that he was done, didn't care if I was satisfied or if I would ever use him again. Just want to make sure no one else falls for this guy's scam, bait and switch.....now watch - in a few days he will read this and respond etiher desperaging me or claiming that he doesn't know who I am - if he does, I will post all of the communication and receipts - but again just read other reviews this is what he does Sad part is knowing he doesn't warranty his inspections or work quality I know I need to start over with another roofer - looking for referrals read more

Received estimate for roof after they did an inspection. My real estate agent had recommended them and since I am new to the area I went with them. What a nightmare. After months of waiting, a team finally came to do the repairs. I left for an appointment and when I came back they had left. I assumed (because no one communicated) they had finished and everything was fine. Again, after many weeks, I received an email (they never call) with a new estimate for repairs. When I called them, I find out that no repairs had been done at all because they "discovered" another issue. Shouldn't they have discovered that when they came out initially to provide the estimate? Their customer service is seriously lacking. When I bought my new house a few months ago, the sellers used this company to repair the roof. They even gave me a warranty for 2 years. Now it's raining and I've got leaks so they were my first call. They don't want you to call or text, only email. They'll only deal with you via email and that's hours later. After several emails, they just ignored me. Pity this company can't get their act together because you lose potential customers this way. I felt like they were doing me a favor by even considering my job, rather than treating me like a valued customer. It took them six weeks to schedule my job, just to fail to show up. We had Gary come give us the first bid for our roof. Our roof was original and had 4 layers on it already from previous repairs. The roof needed to be replaced. The other two bids I got were for replacement. GARY INSISTED THE ROOF HAS ANOTHER 20 YEARS OF LIFE AND EVERYTHING COULD BE PERFECT FOR AROUND $1500 DOLLARS. WELL TODAY, ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER I AM REPLACING THE ROOF AND HERE ARE THE PHOTOS OF WHAT IS ABOVE MY MASTER BEDROOM AND WHY MY MASTER BEDROOM LEAKS WHEN ITS RAINY. I ASKED GARY , please please write the bid as a replacement and he would not as he was so confident ALL I NEEDED WAS $1500 IN REPAIRS. THE SELLER USED GARYS QUOTE AGAINST ME AND BARELY GAVE ME ANY CREDIT. If I knew I would be replacing the roof 6 months into home ownership I would not purchased for the price I did. I have had a VERY unsatisfactory experience with this company. He was referred to me by the sellers agents to make roof repairs on a home we were buying in Laguna beach. He did over 2500. in repairs we requested in our inspection report. Great, right? No. Within the first year of ownership- First rains the home leaked in 5 different places. I called and was told it would be weeks before they could get to us. By the way, getting to Gary is nearly impossible. You have to communicate by email with the office. I get it, when it rains roofers are busy. I waited because I wanted them to make repairs under warranty. After several months and several emails, Gary actually called me. (Now at least I had his cell number). I tiold him what was up, had sent the requested photos, and he told me the :office: hadn't forwarded the information or something and said he wouold take care of it. They did come out and make the re-repairs. Then I recieved a bill. I had to go back and forth with "the office" taht it was under warrenty and should not be charged. Eventually Gary straightened THAT out. Next rains- leaks in the SAME places. Now I am unhappy becasue my tenanty has had tolive through this twice now. I begin the emails back and forth again. I finally get Gary on the phone, he agrees to meet me out at the house. He was very personable and we went up on the roof together and talked it all out. He assured me he would send out a crew and take care of it. Okay, I felt "heard". I assume they came out and repaired as they stated they had. This past rain,....,,.SAME LEAKS. UNBELIEVABLE!! If anyone recommends they come near your roof, run. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM IF THEY DO A ROOF INSPECTION AS PART OF YOUR HOME PURCHASE. Had the misfortune of letting this company come near my house. Gary did a roof inspection for a home purchase for me. Suggested by one of the realtors in this sale. Gary Says minor issues and roof will be good. Even put it in writing. Seems like a pattern here based on other yelp post. First rain of my ownership and it leaks. I originally thought this was a new leak but learned otherwise after having many other people come assess the damage. Every roofer that came on my roof says my roof is super old, not salvageable. It is readily apparent such that someone was amazed a roof inspector says it was fine and had ten years life in it. One person says they could find no evidence of any work actually being done on my roof recently though I paid for this company to do things. Another roofer didn't want to lift my shingles since they are super old and didn't want to risk damaging them. So now I am stuck fixing a whole roof. And I wouldn't have bought this house knowing what I know now. But I made the mistake of relying on Gary Fox's inspection. Please learn from my story and run run run if anyone recommends him to look at your roof or in any home inspection. Also his warranty is only limited to whatever he supposedly charges you. If I could give negative stars I would. Last year my husband and I bought a house. The original roofing inspection said we needed a new roof. The seller's agent asked for another opinion and contacted Gary Fox. He said the roof was fine and just needed minor repairs including fixing the flashing around our skylight. Last year it began raining inside my house. I reached out to Gary Fox about coming back to see if the leaks were part of his repairs because we were assured he guaranteed his work. He said he'd come out and gave us a day but no time. We waited all day. I reached out late afternoon to see if he was still coming. We got a response from someone named Jill who basically said he was too busy and to find someone else. Turns out our roof was in horrible condition. We had the leaking side repaired. Last week the other side of our roof started leaking. The claims adjuster told us the skylight flashing was old and needed to be replaced. Which was part of what Gary said he had done when he "fixed" our roof last year before we moved in. So not only does he not actually repair your roof, he won't guarantee his work, call you back, or even show up. So now I'm out several thousand dollars because he did a terrible job of inspecting our roof AND didn't actually do what he said he would. read more

They initially worked on a roof repair on my home February 2022, only to have a leak in March 2022 when it first rained. I reached out to them and they "put me on the schedule" and then did not respond back to me. Mid June 2022 it rained again and I reached out, again. Only for them to say they would put me on the schedule, again. The person who came, even after I pointed out the leaks did not repair the right spot. So when it rained again that year, we got another leak. I called again, they were going to put me on the schedule. No show. We have forced to use Fox as roofer to fix the leak by seller agent. They fixed (supposedly) the leak, however leak started in adjacent area. Seller agents tried to get hold of Fox by email , phone , but no reply or response whatsoever. Seller agents were saying that Fox is offering one year guarantee but .. leaving to the reader to conclude. Long story short, this was the 1st and last mistake and extremely unsatisfactory experience using this Fox. We should have not trust the seller agents and but trusting real people experience As Bible tells us that even as we walk through hard times, God is with us (Joshua 1:9; Isaiah 41:10). Gary is truly the best. Last Sunday, a major rain storm hit in Irvine, we detected a leak from our bedroom ceiling, which was related to the roofing. We knew it was extremely difficult to get any roofing contractor to come in on Sunday and under the condition when rain was pouring. We called Gary in the early morning and asked him to help. We explained to him about our situation. Gary fully understood the urgency of it, because we did not want to see the ceiling falling down to cause the water damage of the floor covering. After our call, Gary showed up in our front door in about an hour, which was cold and rainy Sunday morning. After we pointed out the location of the leak, he climbed up to the roof and found the problem. Within 10 minutes, the leak was stop. What Gary demonstrated is the top-notch customer service. They might be affordable, but their work is subpar. First, they carelessly put nails through the ceiling of my patio. They came back to fix that. But then, I noticed the ceiling in my living room directly beneath where they completed a leak repair was damaged. Their excuse: the ground must have shifted causing the damage. So, The rest of my 75 year old ceiling is fine -- but the exact spot beneath their repair, the damage, that has to be from my whole house shifting? That's BS. I bought a house in Newport Beach last year and the seller's agent used Gary Fox to do some needed roof repairs. After the last storm I tried to get him to come out to address some major leaks but was stalled and it was urgent so I had to find someone else. Well we discovered that Gary did not in fact do all the required repairs and the roof was not in good condition as he said it was. Between the water damage to the inside and the cost to repair the roof properly, Gary's shoddy work is probably going to cost me $10K. I recommend you use Gary if you are a) a seller's agent and want to keep the cost of repair down so it's the buyer's problem later or b) you enjoy an open roof concept and want some fresh rain pouring down into your living room. read more

I would give them zero stars, but it is not an option. I tried to get a quote from them but my interaction with Erin was horrible. They dictate so many things (email details, oh you forgot to put the address in the subject of the email, bold and capital letters in an email) to do and indicated they are charging $145 just to come and have a look at it. It does not work for me, so I emailed back my feedback to them nicely and advice to remove the capital letters from the email... Guess what, I got an email saying that "this person is a nut!?" Gary and his crew were amazing! First, i asked that he refrain from doing my small project until he had another project in my community to keep the costs down. He did. Second, he gave me plenty of notice when the gentleman would arrive - and he arrived right on time. This company performed repairs on our roof two years ago and the repairs were supposed to be under warranty for 6 years. The roof leaked during the last storm and we contacted them to come out for assessment. They responded by email stating that they would send someone when they can but refused to provide any timeline. It's been two weeks with no follow up. Unreliable and have poor customer service. In response to Gary's comment below. There has been NO follow up from the company since I initially contacted them 2 weeks ago. So the clients are supposed to be guessing if and when you'll have availability? You then send you're employees while they do the work and you sit behind your desk and type up invoices.
