He worked with leftover panels to create a patch, then went back to further refine and improve the patch so it blended cosmetically with existing panels and was aesthetically pleasing from a curb appeal viewpoint. The estimate explained the repairs to be done, as well as all costs, in an easy to understand format. When it was noted that more work would have to be done to take care of the problem, everything was explained and pictures were provided for backup. The team cleaned up after the work was completed. We recently experienced some really high winds that ripped off a tile from the top of our roof and broke some more tiles on the way down. We urgently needed roof repairs as the weather report predicted rain the following day. BEWARE!!! TERRIBLE communication and poor professionalism! I contacted this company at the beginning of October because we have broken/slipped tiles, and Jesse Merritt was nice enough to inspect our roof with me not being home since I work a very busy schedule. I thought to myself, so far so good! The quote was immediately emailed to me the same day with a detailed list of the work he recommends and an explanation of why. After that, it was ALL downhill with customer service and communication. After multiple unanswered phone calls and an email, I was able to schedule an appointment for the repair. Nearing date of the repair, I didn't receive any confirmation email or phone call so I reached out to them for confirmation (when it should be the other way around). Then, on the MORNING OF, I called AND emailed, only to find out Jesse was sick and had to reschedule. I thought, ok, that's understandable. STILL, that's UNPROFESSIONAL. Through email, he rescheduled for 11/25 and stated they would begin at 9 am. Well guess what!? On 11/25 (black friday), Jesse calls me to let me know he cant work on my roof because his supplier is closed!!! So he reschedules AGAIN for 11/29! Irritated but being cool, I agree! Well guess what! He cancels AGAIN via EMAIL on the MORNING of 11/29 because of expected rain (which NEVER CAME btw) and that he had more important customers to tend to and won't have time for us until AFTER 12/25. Well, this is my notice that he shouldn't even dare try to. As understanding as I tried to be, being cancelled on THREE times due to illness, negligence, and mismanagement is UNPROFESSIONAL and TERRIBLE customer service. I'd be WEARY and very cautious of their thoroughness in working on your roofs. Since they didn't do the RIGHT thing with us, i DOUBT they'd do what is RIGHT for you! read more

Can't recommend enough. I called after some major rain. Most wouldn't even return my call. The few that did couldn't come out for weeks. Kaitlyn got back to right away and was very responsive to all my questions. Brian came out the next day took pictures of the damaged area and my roof was on the schedule in just two weeks. The price was good and they did a great job. Cleaned up, matched all the tile, replaced any boards damaged from rain and made sure all the tiles were solid. Couldn't be happier with results. We live on a local golf course and wanted to repair two roof leaks at the back of our house before the rainy season. Additionally, we required some concrete roof tiles to be replaced and debris cleared from the valley sections of our roof. I contacted two highly rated local roofing companies for an inspection report and repair estimates with pictures. Both companies provided similar inspection summaries, but South Coast Roofing's estimate was slightly less expensive. However, this was not the deciding factor in choosing them. Most of the roofing companies I contacted would not even respond to my calls. Too small of a job, I guess. I have a happy ending to share with Yelp Community about South County Roofing. I had a wonderful meeting with the owner Brian Atkins who personally called me and came to fix my roof on 11/20/24. He cleared his busy schedule to personally come and work on my roof. He brought me a well-protected printed contract in a folder for me to sign, and provided me with a copy. He was congenial, professional, and diligent. He went up to our roof and repaired the broken/chipped tiles, reseal the plumbing flashings and fixed the tiles that have slid out of place that were on the proposal with additional touch to omitted area. The work was finished in a timely manner and within the estimated reasonable proposal cost. This local small company is in the repair roof business and not to build a new roof. They are saving customers' money. After finishing the job, Brian sent me photos without delay, but it was challenging for me to match some of the photos with the descriptions of problems and accompanying repairs since the tiles appeared identical in many photos. I asked Brian and he gladly have the office manager sending me our uploaded Google photos on the same day. I struggled to distinguish the photos with my non technical eyes, but Brian was incredible, sending me specific photos to demonstrate what was accomplished while we were on the phone. I am happy to meet Brian and we resolved the situation amicably. The importance lies in the owner and office manager Kaitlyn being accountable and taking the time to rectify the situation in a positive manner. Despite not having the leak prior to the repairs, I wanted to be proactive in preventing costly damages. Jesse came out for a roof inspection and estimate, and then we scheduled the work. He arrived as promised and quickly got to work, pulling tiles to find the root of the problem, which involved water flow behind the chimney. Jesse replaced all the underlayment, along with a couple of cracked tiles, all in just over one day, and did so for the price quoted. It rained the following weekend, and it certainly appears that the roof leak is fixed. I thought that the price was more than reasonable for the quality of work and effort involved. Jesse and his team are the right guys for the job with anything regarding roof repair! We had broken tiles and a potential leak near our skylight - I reached out through Yelp and Jesse got back to us quickly and scheduled a visit. I don't know about you, but my heart skips a beat thinking about being on our roof, but Jesse is an expert! He examined everything thoroughly and mentioned a few other things that he noticed was lacking or in need of repair, also counted out how many tiles were broken. We had a serious problem near the skylight that he confirmed and had to remove that heavy, glass skylight to repair it. On the day of the job, they laid out tarping and asked me to close the windows as debris can fall all around the house. It was in the 80s that day, no cloud in the sky - scorcher, but his men worked from 11am-4pm banging away! I was able to be home the whole time, so the noise was tolerable. I had a special request that Jesse please clean the skylight. The glass was too hot at the time, so he actually returned the NEXT day after the job was already complete and shined up those skylights!! (They had not been cleaned in 20 years). So talk about going above and beyond. I forgot to mention, the pricing was very reasonable - and he fully protected our roof for the coming rainy season - now that is priceless! Brian has done two jobs for me. About 15 years ago I had three roofers visit my house in an attempt to fix a roof leak by the fireplace. All three said no problem. All three failed miserably. All three were recommended by someone. Took a chance, searched yelp found Brian's company and took chance number four. Brian came out stripped the roof back from the chimney and took a bunch of pictures. It was a mess. The prior roofers did not fill the old nail holes when they put the roof back on. That is why it continued to leak. Brian fixed it and provided a 5 year warranty. Next big rain I heard water hitting the metal chimney duct. Just a drop every now and then. Brian came out the next day, pulled some tiles back and found a hole that was missed. Quick repair, of course no charge and added two more years to the warranty for the inconvenience. Fast forward to today. My Mom's house has some issues. Brian sent Jesse out to do three roof repairs. Jesse knocked it out in one day and no issues since then. Jesse recommended some alternate ways to repair the roof for less cost that would result in a sturdy roof and save a few bucks. Sweet!!! They are a small shop, about 3 to 4 people and specialize in roof repair. It does take a few days for them to get back to you . . . BECAUSE THEY ARE BUSY . . . and a small shop. Being busy is a good thing, the do quality work. Be careful of the competition with low ball prices. The competition knows everybody wants a deal and low prices typically suck you in. I highly recommend Brian and South County Roofers! Oh by the way, when I called Brian recently for my Mom's house he remembered the repairs he did on my house after 15 years. I had a small roof leak that fortunately was not an emergency repair which gave me the ability to meet with a few different vendors to assess how each would approach the job and the price they charge. The first 3 vendors I contacted were just out to price gauge given that we've had quite a bit of rain in the past couple of months and they probably had more work than they could handle and I'm guessing they were just throwing out crazy prices to see if anyone would fall for it.
