We used Rational for the re-roof of both our main house and our ADU this year and I have to say they are the most skilled, professional, and also nicest roofers I have ever worked with. They not only handled our roofing, but also helped replace the siding on our dormers that was found to be rotted during the demolition process. We also had them install all new insulation for us since the old insulation was incorrectly installed, insufficient in R-value and also not installed everywhere we needed it. They also replaced our skylights with brand new automatic ones as well, and they handled the whole process of dealing with the skylight manufacturer for us when one of the units we installed turned out to have a faulty control unit. Rational Roofing is awesome! * Completely fair pricing (charged me less than 1/2 of another company -- I didn't need to haggle). * Hassle free quote. Was not hard to get a quote, was quick and easy. * "Extra" services were being offered by another company for another $1500 (replace a couple other tiles that were broken -- Rational did it for free. They had to buy a bundle of tiles anyway, and it's not hard to replace a single tile. * I was lucky -- they were able to come out the next day. Showed up 10 mins early, got started and wrapped up with no delays. Everyone else wanted at least a week to come out -- one wanted 3 weeks (and this was in the middle of the rain storms that hit SoCal). * The took the underlayment all the way to the highest point of the roof. The other company was going to just bridge the new and old together, which can be problematic. Ryan said he just goes all the way up since it can be problematic later if you don't. I love that. * Best part of all of it? Ryan, the owner, is fantastic. Honest. Direct. No funny business/games. He's just a straight forward good guy -- the kind of guy you want to build a deck together and have a beer with after. * I wasn't going to be home and my wife was going to be home alone, so at first I was concerned. After meeting Ryan and the crew, I knew everything was going to be OK and that I wouldn't need to "oversee" the work. In the spring of 2021 I got four estimates for my gazebo's shake roof that was showing wear and leaking. Three of the companies providing estimates said that, yes, it needed replacing right away and it would be $$$$. Ryan, of Rational Roofing, was the only one who suggested they replace just the faulty shakes which would "buy me some time" before replacing the gazebo roof. That's sometimes a red flag, but I felt the other one included things I really didn't need.
