Good food and perfect service. The waiters wear very formal clothes. They offered me free dessert for my birthday. Very nice of them. Tuna tataki is marinated, so tuna is too salty. Wayu is very tender, but a little bit salty too. Red snapper is very nice.

We came here because after a long work day we didn't want to leave the hotel. Our server was precious and very attentive. Catered to multiple allergies like a champ! It is way overpriced but that the deal, we knew going in. Steak and fish were perfectly prepared. We ordered several things not pictured, all fine. The desserts were amazing, in my opinion. This is what I was trying to end my day with and they did not disappoint. It's a hotel restaurant. Better than many, not as good as some.

We had dinner at Garrison in the Fairmont Hotel after a full week... we decided we needed a great meal. Garrison delivered! Cool-blue ambiance was almost mesmerizing! Start to finish, the meal was excellent, with one slight observation noted below... JR was our server, and he did a great job. Attentive, but not intrusive. Great job leading us through the menu and especially the specialty cocktail selections. Thanks JR, job well done! Our dining "fantasy come true" experience began with cocktails... the Garrison Dirty Martini and a Belvedere Vodka Shot with caviar! Check out the pics, amazing presentation for both. The martini served in a chilled test tube on ice, with castelvetrano olives on a party stick in the glass. The vodka shot with a balanced mother of pearl spoon full of caviar on the top. Great fun, and delicious too! The meal began with a compressed melon amuse-bouche... light and delicious. We had the crispy octopus as an appetizer, and the picanha (steak) and pan roasted grouper as entrees. Both were terrific! One suggestion for the kitchen is to hold off on adding salt to the steak a second time after it is cut, the original salt in the rub on the outside of the steak is enough (for our palates anyway! We know some prefer more salt!). The gruyere black truffle tater tots are to die for...!!! The ordered a bottle of French Chablis to accompany dinner, and it was delightful. The Garrison wine list is a dizzying walk through all varietals, Old and New Worlds, and lots of other stuff tossed in. Any wine buff can find a bottle here, and generally reasonably priced for a downtown lux hotel. Dessert brought another treat... after much thought, we selected the chocolate passion fruit dessert, which was kind of a deconstructed s'mores with passion fruit sorbet on crushed graham crackers on the side. Small mints and jellies ended the evening... Great experience at Garrison! As the listing suggests, $$$$ means expensive. IMHO, worth every penny. Highly recommend Garrison...

I was a bit confused at first bc I didn't know it was inside the hotel but it was a great find! The service was great and we got complimentary fresh rye bread appetizer and macaroon dessert.

JR was our server. Attention and on his game. We started with Margaritas (rocks), a Citrus salad and Grilled Oysters. Both were delicious. Regina and I love Oysters. Regina opted for the Texas Redfish and I ordered the Wagyu strip with Hasselback potatoes. Both were some of the best we've ever eaten. Our side was Tater Tots made with Gruyère and Black Truffles. It was one of the best dishes we've ever tasted. Portions were perfectly sized and the presentation was great. For dessert we had the Mexican Soufflé along with a Tawny Port and a decaf latte.

This place is amazing. Everything about it is perfect. The lighting, the cleanliness, my waiter's height. The food is wonderful and the staff are the friendliest. They made us Sangrias when it's not even on the menu, and it was actually good. Most impromptu sangrias are trash.

First meal in Austin did not disappoint! Experience was great from start to finish! Hostess offered a hook for my purse upon seating which was thoughtful! Our server, JR, was very warm and attentive! Restaurant was not very busy but still had a nice ambience along with an open kitchen. For starters we had the octopus and crudo. Octopus was my favorite, it was so crispy and loved the green goddess sauce! Split the strip loin along with mushrooms and tater tot's for main course. Elevated tater tot's were recommended from a staff member in the bar and they were so good! Finished with chocolate passion fruit and apple crisp along with complimentary candy from pastry department. Overall great experience and would love to come back!

Just got back with a very happy tummy after celebrating my hubby's birthday! It was our first time dining at Garrison, and we loved it. Brian, our server, was absolutely wonderful--he walked us through the details of how each appetizer and dish was prepared, which made the experience even more special. We started with the snapper crudo and pierogi, both of which were incredible, and finished with the perfectly cooked porterhouse steak as our main course. Highly recommend! Hubby's favorite cocktail of the night was the Antiquity--a creative spin on an Old Fashioned. It was absolutely amazing and the apple crisp was the perfect complement to our meal!

If you're looking for fine dining in Austin, Garrison delivers! Went to Garrison for a special meal, and we have only praise for Garrison! Food: Fantastic! Everything we had was superb. The duck breast was terrific. Had a steak, and it was perfect. The smoked potato pierogi reminded me of eating in Warsaw! The pierogi was a treasure, and we thanked the chef for the perfect execution. The chef is of Polish descent, and he enjoyed talking to him. The GM stopped by our table with a tasty sample of smoked pate. The pate reminded us of eating a perfect piece of smoked sausage on a little bread with a perfect portion of mustard in Vienna. Drinks: Excellent Old Fashioned Service: Our server David was exceptional. Ambiance: classy, modern, engaging Overall cleanliness: exceptional Misc: Garrison actually provides a good value if you're looking for fine dining and exceptional service.

It's not often I find myself giving a restaurant 5 stars, but I can't overlook the service that was received when visiting Garrison for the first time. We've lived in Austin long enough to see the Fairmont go up, and even went to the lobby bar and rooftop bar one time for a wedding after party...over 5 years ago. We had no idea there was a food court tucked in the back, and the Garrison tucked even further back as a pleasant surprise. Felt like we were in Epcot or Vegas! Such a fun vibe. Welcomed by Chris, immediately with positive energy and charm. He set the bar high with close attention to detail as he sat us and introduced us to Ayana, who'd serve us for the night. Such a knowledgeable and quality experience we had with her! As she walked us through the menu, we knew almost immediately what to go with (based on her recommendations and detailed descriptions). We were surprised by an opening treat, on the house. A roasted carrot with green goddess sauce. I forgot to ask about the textured garnish. Followed by the BEST dressed oysters in town. Sheesh. Melted in our mouths and did not want to finish up the last one. So glad Ayana suggested this. Definitely recommend. Even if you think you don't like oysters. The main course was the porterhouse with the side of broccoli and bearnaise sauce (creamy goodness), and the go-to tots. The aerated gruyere on top of the tots with ACTUAL shaved truffle? Chef's kiss. Flavor and texture is needed for a full food experience, and the assignment was understood with each course. Yes, you can expect the filet to melt in your mouth, as well. Personally, we believed this was a better steak than a handful of steakhouses in the area...although, there was a few bites that were a bit too salty. Don't skimp on the Souffle for dessert. Make sure to save room, nothing wrong with bringing home leftover steak. You will not regret the Souffle. By this course, it was clear that the intention of the back of house was to serve foods that would melt in your mouth, making it easy for you to have a mouthful of every sense imaginable. From the oyster sauce, to the aerated gruyere and bernaise, to the vanilla anglaise for the Souffle - you won't be disappointed. Chris, Ayana, Chef Jakub, FOH and BOH - snaps to you all. Thank you for a beautiful and fun experience. We look forward to coming back! (Especially since I forgot to grab a pic of oysters and souffle, which we for sure will get again).

Excellent meal! I got a last minute reservation and when we arrived we were one of only a few tables. There were no later reservations available than 6pm, and I was curious to the cause but it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Sat at the counter for a view of the kitchen goings on. Jasper was our waiter and he provided exceptional service- very knowledgeable and attentive! The space is dark and cozy, but the focus is on the food and service. The tots were amazing. Get that and the biscuits + honey butter and whatever else would be considered a successful meal. I was so so on the duck. I apparently am not a fan of duck and will prefer to keep them in a pond. It was well prepared, but the meat is not for my taste. My friend's chicken was excellent! The hasselback potato and broccoli sides were ok. I think we were still smitten by the tots and bread at that point. Get dessert! And enjoy the free tastes along the way.

    Is this place kid friendly?

I looked at the menu online and there are no prices on it? Should I assume that it's a few hundred dollars for one person?

Of course, depends on the occasion and your wine choice. Expect to pay close to $200/person for a very nice meal.

Watching the chefs work up close adds so much to the experience and really highlights the care and skill that goes into every dish. We started with the morita shrimp appetizer, then had the short rib special and the half chicken. Every bite was packed with flavor- the food is consistently incredible. Overall, I…read morethink Ember Kitchen is certainly worth checking out, but I think I might order a little differently next time. First off - parking is convenient in the Seaholm parking garage. My understanding is that Ember will validate, but it wasn't apparent to me how that works and honestly I walked out forgetting it and having to pay the bill for parking - oh well. I came with a party of six and we were celebrating a birthday. The team at Ember was very accommodating. We were seated downstairs in their "Speakeasy" room. It's a bit dark, but cool atmosphere. There are other dining options if you prefer a bit brighter setting. We were served complimentary birthday shots! These were quite tasty - enough so that I ordered another round of those citrus based shooters. Everyone at the table ordered a cocktail. Nearly all the cocktails on the menu are going to be served in a feminine looking glass and with a flower. The cocktail menu is pretty much for the ladies. On the bright side, they have a good selection of bourbons, tequila, etc available for straight pours at a decent price. Not extensive selection, but I think a good choice - enough that I think you will find something to fit your price point and taste profile. Our waitress was top notch. Very attentive and paid close attention to the orders from our gluten sensitive guest ensuring she ordered safely. We ordered a couple small plates as appetizers for the whole table. Everyone loved the crab cake. I thought it was tasty but wasn't expecting whole kernel corn in a crab cake so that threw me off a little. Market seafood crudo - this is a fish appetizer and as the name implies changes based on availability. The night we ate was a Hamachi or Salmon option. The salmon had a bit more of a spicy sauce so we chose that. It was a hit. We also chose a tuna tartare and it was fresh, good but didn't knock our socks off. When ready for the main course - our waitress had a number of off-menu specials to tell us about and honestly many were very interesting options. In fact, we chose to split a 50oz Tomahawk steak. This was a huge steak plated on a hot platter, already sliced off the bone with some fingerling potatoes. This was honestly the most expensive part of the meal (no surprise), but also the least impressive. Now visually it was a spectacle for sure, but the meat certainly had pieces that were tough with some large pieces of fat. Now I don't mind the fat, but when sliced there were a couple pieces that were nothing but fat, other pieces still that were mostly gristle. We all agreed the seasoning was just missing, it seemed to have no seasoning at all. It was also quite charred. One of the claims to fame here is their Josper oven and clearly it can put a good char on a steak. Some in our party liked it, but I thought it was a bit much. There can be fine line between a good steak crust and a burnt crust. I thought it was a bit much, and maybe why the seasoning seemed missing. On the bright side, it was cooked correctly to order. My only problem was, for the price, this was a complete miss. We also ordered scallops and the morida shrimp. Both were excellent. These were probably worth coming back for. The morida shrimp come served in a bowl with a rich sauce that was enjoyed by the whole party. The scallops come pan seared and were cooked perfectly - which is key to enjoying a good scallop. Be aware that the typical order of scallops though comes with only two scallops - rather light even for a single individual, because these were not on the "small plates" menu, it was supposed to be a full entree. Great experience overall, but we just felt not quite worth what we had to pay for it. Overall, it was just over $150 per person. What could have saved it - for that price, the steak HAS to be on point.

We started with the Meatballs that pair wonderfully with their Italian Bread. Flavorful and plentiful dish and def get the bread! Next came the Bone Marrow & Tuna Crudo. I will say though for some reason after we finished our Meatballs it took them quite a while to bring our dishes after that. Bone Marrow was divine and also paired well with the Italian Bread. Tuna Crudo was not what I expected because it was warm and I was expecting it to be cold. But it was good and I love eggplant. Our main dish was the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese. From the description it seemed to hit all the boxes since we are meat lovers (contains braised beef & pork shoulder) and truffle. I love me some truffle. When we ordered the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese I asked him does it have a lot of truffle flavor because I love truffle. He said oh we can definitely add more truffle if you would like when the dish comes out. When the dish came they had the chef come shave an extra truffle on the dish. I honestly could not taste the difference. Was not enough truffle flavor for me. Note the extra truffle is an added charge. Overall lovely experience. If we return we will need to try some different dishes to give it another try.

I absolutely love the vibe of this place--it's definitely a high-end Mediterranean restaurant, perfect for special occasions. What really stood out was how beautifully everyone was dressed; it added to the upscale, elegant atmosphere of the entire space. The restaurant offers both indoor seating and a beautiful outdoor seating area, which really elevates the overall experience. The outdoor space, in particular, adds to the charm and makes it a great spot for a relaxed yet upscale evening. Since reservations weren't available, we decided to arrive early, expecting a long wait. Luckily, being a Sunday evening, it wasn't too crowded, and we were seated within about 20 minutes. For drinks, I ordered a Tender Robot Hazy IPA, while my husband went with the Verdant Mai Tai. I was a bit disappointed to learn they only serve canned beer and don't offer draft options, as I personally prefer draft beer and am not a big fan of cocktails, which tend to be too sweet for my taste. For the main course, I had the Heirloom Chicken Thighs, and my husband ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. Both dishes were cooked to perfection--flavorful, well-seasoned, and the meat was incredibly tender. That said, the portion sizes felt a bit small considering the price point. We ended the meal with the Sticky Date Cake, and it was hands down the best I've ever had--rich, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a great experience. Between the beautiful ambiance, flavorful food, and exceptional service, it's a place I'd definitely return to. I'm giving it 4 stars mainly because of the lack of draft beer and the smaller portion sizes for the price, but it's still a fantastic spot worth visiting.

May be my favorite burger in Austin. It's delicious! Fries - 10/10. Perfectly thin and crispy. Get the caviar ranch! Fried Green Tomatoes - 10/10. We ordered these expecting just a normal appetizer but they were so much better than that! We returned with my parents who agreed they were phenomenal. Tuna Tartar - 9/10. Super flavorful and the wontons provide a good crunch. Mozzarella Sticks - I give them a 8/10 but my husband gives them a 10/10. Lobster roll - this was just fine to us and not worth $40 in our opinion, but we're also not huge lobster people. Cocktails - 7/10. I liked their central market martini a lot on another visit, but this recent time I got a regular dirty martini and it came out with so much ice. After some waiting I got it strained and it was much better. Ambiance is great too! Comfy place, and I love the paper on the tables.

Decided to try Bill's Oyster during happy hour from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Was walking around downtown…read moreAustin and saw the lovely patio area and decided to stop in. Went inside to check in and was seated on the patio without a reservation. They had a beer and a shot offer for $8 so I had a mezcal shot and added an oyster to it. Also had $10 martinis and I ordered a cocktail to enjoy as well. We ordered 18 of the $3 oysters and they were were fresh, clean, and well-shucked, exactly what you want when you're there for a classic oyster experience. The happy hour pricing made it even better, so it felt like a great value for the quality. Discovered they had $2 oysters from the gulf so we ordered 6 more of those. These were larger in size than the others and a bit more filling. The oysters were served with horseradish, cocktail and mignonette sauce for a fresh and flavorful bite. Service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out quickly. It's a great spot whether you're meeting friends or just stopping in for a casual bite and a drink. Definitely a great place to try oysters happy hour, would love to return and try items from their regular menu.

That's a really cool detail. The scallop and halibut in particular are the best I've had. Great service, amazing food, and if you go à la cart, it's really not as expensive as you might think.

The wine pairing felt like a solo cup kegger that tasted like magic and never ran dry. Above all of this, our host and waitress for this adventure was one of the best I've ever had. Mind blown.     People, the right people, qualified, talented, A players only will make or break a business. It doesn't matter if it's code or plates of wagyu, the wrong person is never worth it. Our care taker flawlessly explained every little detail of every single component of each dish and pairing. I've been to numerous spots across the country including multiple Michelin starred establishments and she was easily a top 10 performer. So much so, that at one point, I stopped the experience to tell her. I understand & appreciate how hard that job is, & how more often than not the 8th deadly sin entitlement makes her life a living hell. She didn't believe me at first. After my buddy, noticed, & explained, "he's not fucking with you, he does this frequently!" She finally trusted and accepted the compliment. I told everyone as we exited.     Another timeless memory on the books!

Since we ordered basically one of everything - here are our recommendations. Appetizers GET THIS: 1. Corn dog shrimp (think shrimp tempura) - light, flavorful, crunchy YUM 2. Cathead biscuits NOT THAT: 1. Street corn queso dip not a favorite for our table. The cheese tasted thick and plastic like... Velveeta vibes... not much flavor Meals GET THIS: 1. Hangar Steak 2. Creole shrimp & grits 3. Chicken fried steak Not that: 1. Horseradish crusted salmon - I didn't try it but the two people who ordered at our table were disappointed and wished they would've gotten one of the above Desserts GET THIS: 1. Bread pudding was delicious! Not overly sweet & the added white chocolate gives it that dazzle dazzle 2. Chocolate Espresso Brownie - perfection NOT THAT: 1. Banana cream pudding. This was a no for the table because it was over the top sweet (I think because of the added butterscotch) 2. Peanut Butter Mousse Pie super super thick & sweet. Didn't taste much other than PB - it was like eating a giant spoonful of it and trying to swallow.

Friendly staff overall. The food fell flat for almost all of us. The salads were fresh and good. However, the ribs were below average. Cornbread was stale and not tasty. Biscuits tasted more like firm bread and not at all flaky/soft. That seemed weird to all of us. Chicken fried steak was soggy and not crispy. Drinks were ok. Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We didn't try that.
