We got there just before they were about the close (earlier than indicated on Yelp) so some options were already gone, but we were able to get some asada and lengua tacos and they were WONDERFUL. We will definitely be going back to try more options. If you're looking for a Tex-Mex restaurant style experience where your tacos are pre -loaded with all the fixings, this isn't it. Ayala will give you some fresh tortillas topped with your meat of choice and then you can add pico de Gallo, onions, and salsas from their salsa bar. That's the sort of taco place I prefer personally. Plus, there are other, more elaborate, options on the menu if that's what you want. Taqueria Ayala actually outshines our previous favorite because the salsa is better. The green is mild but flavorful and the red has a nice kick to it. Definitely recommended and we'll be going back to try more! I can't wait to try the al pastor.

The service is always friendly for me and they always recognize me when I come in for door dashes orders as well. I love that they're on door dash, it makes my late night cravings so much more accessible! Sometimes the wait can be lengthy but I promise it's worth it. Inside is always clean and well kept, however the salsa bar isn't always completely full. But it's never empty either so that counts for something. Place is old but extremely well taken care of and clean. I used the restroom (spotless) and there was a hand dryer in there made before the first motorized vehicle. But it worked and it was clean. Always nice to have clean bathrooms when traveling. Food was fresh, hot, and good. Prices are high but guess what? Everyone's prices are high now. I had to sign over a kidney for my meat burrito but the wife's bean burritos are still relatively cheap. Fountain drinks and fresh brewed tea. Solid choices.

Happened to be in Elko for my birthday and was craving Mexican food. This place surpassed all my hopes for an excellent Mexican meal. The chips and salsa arrived immediately at our table soon after we arrived. They were fresh, a tasty start to our dinner. I ordered the Steak Fajita Salad. It was a huge serving of deliciousness. Then I had the flan for dessert. it was also a huge portion, and I enjoyed every bite!! Our server Maria made the experience such a memorable one. Her bright personality and attentiveness were topnotch. Couldn't believe she had been working there only one month! The hostess sat us in a separate room from the main dining room. It was hit brightly by the sun and felt like a second thought of leftover dining. Asked if we could sit in main dining room and she obliged. We asked about the menu and took time to review it. After some time we ordered. My husband had the chicken Alfredo and I ordered the PASTA MILANO which is described as: Chicken, Tomatoes, Mushrooms in a Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce over Penne Pasta. Sounds good right? It could have been good. But it was not. First of all, I never got chicken in the dish. The mushrooms were diced and very few in the dish. The only thing they got right was the tomatoes. I called the waitress over and told her that my dish had no chicken in it. She said well do you want some? I smiled and said well that's what the dish was supposed to come with. So I waited. Then I decided to go ahead and start eating my food because seven minutes went by and I still have no chicken. When the dish was originally served,, I asked the waitress for Parmesan cheese. She said we don't have Parmesan cheese, but we have black pepper. Huh???? of course you have Parmesan cheese. I have it on my Caesar salad. I really don't think she knew what Parmesan cheese was. I just shrugged my shoulders and took a bite of my food. Again, great concept. But the food had NO flavor. I added salt and pepper. Still nothing. I took the balsamic vinegar that was on the table and added it to the dish. There, I finally had flavor in my meal. But still no chicken. Finally, another waitress brings out a plate of squiggly worm like meat. She said, did somebody order chicken at this table? I was disgusted. First of all, it was not pleasant to see it look like that. Also, you should've offered to remake my meal, or at least take it back and mix it with the chicken. But to make me wait until my dishes is half gone and then bring over a plate of chicken is a poor decision. The chicken fettuccine had a good flavor. But the chicken was tough. Hard to chew. Not good flavor. I ordered a n/a Heineken. She brought it in a glass to the table. It was already poured so I don't know if I truly got what I ordered. Also the glass was too large for the amount of beer that was in it. Makes it look like it was half a drink. The waitress was kind, but we did not see much of her. She never offered to refill our bread basket. According to the menu, you get two baskets of bread and then if you want more you have to pay. We only got one basket of bread and never offered anymore. I was looking forward to some good pasta, and this restaurant did not deliver. Very disappointed in the service, and most definitely the food. The waitress took five dollars off of our meal, but she never explained why she did it or why she decided to take that amount of money. She never apologized for my dish, not having any protein, she never apologized for any thing. Management needs to teach staff that they can take ownership of the situation. It is OK to say you are sorry that the chicken was not put in your dish. Let's see what we can do to make it right. That would have gone so far. Instead, it left my attitude about this place as tough as the chicken in the fettuccine was.
