I haven't been here in a bit. I was meeting my son for his 20th birthday. We use to come here all the time when he was younger so we were both excited to come here for dinner! On to the review! party of 6 and we must have been lucky because there was a table ready and didn't even have to wait( place was busy). We were waited on right away and got our drink orders in and with in minutes we had them and we all know what we wanted already so we put our orders in and the server asked if we wanted our food together or just bring it out as it gets done. We all agreed as it gets done and before you know it fresh pipping hot food starts arriving to our table. While waiting for the food and talking with the family I was able to get a good vibe check of the ambiance of this place and I must say I good really great vibe and felt like was just a bunch of happy people eating and having greats convos with one another. :-) On to the food! Nachos - Super awesome and crunchy and fresh. not soggy at all and a huge portion for 15 bucks! Margherita pizza - Super fresh piping hot pizza with fresh tomatoes and Basil! Sriracha Buffalo Cauliflower - This is where things started to turn inconsistent. let's see we had three orders of these and pretty much all three orders looked different, tasted different and some of the bigger pieces were not cooked through. All three of us did share each others to compare tastes. Reggie's Raw Heaven Salad - I did not eat the salad but I looked at it and asked the couple how they liked it and they said it was awesome! Note to self to try next time! Sweet Potato Wedges - Hot and fresh but again with the inconsistency, some were over cooked almost burnt and some were a little under cooked but for the most part they were nice and crunchy on the outside and nice and pillowy soft on the inside. Overall - I do love this place, I can't wait to come back and see if the food can be a little more consistent.. Second visit for an early lunch. Small restaurant , staff is well trained and organized. All our food was served promptly and at the right temperature. Buffalo cauliflower was excellent. . Seed salad was average. Oyster mushroom burger on pretzel bun was excellent . My daughter requested the burger without any sauces, though requested ketchup and a side of bbq sauce. I love Garden Grille and they're so consistent. I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but their food tastes incredible. The item I get the most is their Pastrami Seitan Reuben ($14) with cheddar cheese. It always comes out perfect, stuffed with tasty/moist seitan. Today, I also got the seitan sausage pizza ($20). They were generous with the meat, the pizza was larger than I thought, and as always great taste. They have a comfortable atmosphere inside with a friendly staff. My vegan friend introduced me to Garden Grille and I've been meaning to go back ever since! As a self-identifying carnivore, I felt timid about dining here. For best practices, I try to study new places and their menus before checking them out. Garden Grille was a great example for me of "everything sounds great, but where do I start?" Especially with vegan/vegetarian food being a new terrain for me, I wasn't 100% sure if I would find something for me. Boy, was I wrong! The Korean tacos were stunning in color and taste. Composed of tempeh, sweet chili sauce, cabbage, guacamole and chipotle mayo on a flour tortilla, these guys came in a set of two or three. I loved all the textures that came together, from the tempeh's firmness to the crunch you get from the cabbage. The sweet chili sauce pulled everything together, giving the sauced tacos a good kick. For an appetizer, I ordered the bean chili, the soup of the day. This was a comforting option for sure - hearty and the perfect amount of tang from the tomato base. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience. I loved the cozy and clean atmosphere, giving a chill and relaxed ambiance to the dine-in experience. Garden Grille definitely sets my expectations high for future vegan/vegetarian adventures. The location is convenient, with ample parking in the plaza and dessert right next door. Hadn't been to Garden Grille in many years but still as good as ever. Plenty of parking, though there are a lot of businesses in the same plaza so can get busy. Went for an early dinner and wasn't busy, got sat right away. Waiter brought over water and menus and gave us time to look before ordering. I got a quinoa salad with a side of tofu; my bff got a bean burger. I loved my salad, fresh and tasty; has lots of seeds on it, avocado and greens. The tofu had a sauce and was well made. It has been a while since we had been to the Grille and on the spur of the moment decided to have lunch there. The informality and comfort of the restaurant has a good vibe. It reminded us that we like the place and the staff there. We shared a couple of dishes: plantain chips and a grilled seitan pastrami sandwich. Both hearty and both delicious. I was excited to try because i've heard about this place for a long time and it's vegan options. It was busy and my Friends and I ate at the bar, which was ok because there was plenty of room. We were multitasking, with my laptop out, as well as ordering and eating and having a full discussion. I ordered their Rum Punch as my drink of the day along with Cauliflower BBQ, shared some sweet potato wedge fries, and I ordered Pad Thai for myself. The Cauliflower was delicious and i would order again because the crunch and sauce was great! The Wedges helped control the spicy factor from the Cauliflower BBQ sauce (not too overwhelming). The sweet potatoes was sweet and crunchy with a nice sprinkle of salt. I had sweet and savory with both plates. My main dish was the pad thai, and i wasn't too impressed. The noodles all stuck together, and felt very dough, noodles, almost like they were overcooked. The flavors needed more of that tangy savory taste i usually get with this dish. The service was prompt and they allowed my group to eat with no rushing. Although it was busy, it wasn't a bother, and we were able to get through our discussion. Without a doubt, Garden Grille is my favorite restaurant in Rhode Island. You truly can't go wrong with any of the menu items, but my go-to is the BLT with avocado. I've been a vegetarian for many years now and nobody does fake bacon like Garden Grille. They have great service too. My only qualm is that it isn't big enough and they don't take reservations, so it's a gamble on if you'll get a table or not. 10/10 recommend checking it out. I was overdue for my first visit to Garden Grille. This restaurant is basically a household name in Rhode Island - It's been around for almost 30 years & it's well known & loved. I can't believe it took me so long to try it! It was prime time on a Friday night when we arrived, so imagine how delighted we were when 2 seats were available at the bar. We claimed them immediately. The inside is much more modern & hip than I was expecting. Very cute! The staff was super friendly & attentive. We were on a bit of a time crunch & they helped us get our order in quickly. We ordered two margaritas, tostones, cooked vegetables, & pad Thai. The verdict: Margaritas - Tasty Tostones - Not memorable Greens - Sub par Pad Thai - Didn't come out in time!* *We had to ask for it to be split into two to-go boxes because we were on a time crunch. I ate my half later that night & it was decent. It didn't blow me away but it was tasty enough that I finished my portion. I'm glad I finally tried the Garden Grille & we definitely had a good time. My true rating would be a 3.75. Such a cute and trendy spot! Service was good and it was actually quite busy for a Monday night. We ordered quite a bit of food and it was very filling! For reference there were 4 of us sharing all the food and we had left overs. Buffalo cauliflower - this was yummy. The buffalo flavor was nice and strong and the side sauce was creamy and tasted just like ranch. My only wish was that it was a bit more "charred". The cauliflower was not at all soft but it also wasn't as crunchy as I'd wish with a buffalo cauli dish. Hush puppies - different and good! Bbq seitan - probably my least favorite. The bbq sauce was really sweet so that threw me off a little bit. The seitan was also extremely saucey which for me was too much. Spicy corn pizza - I'll admit, I thought the actual corn would've been cooked in a spice before it was included on the pizza but the spice I think was coming from the jalapeños. Stopped in for lunch and was really impressed. My falafel wrap was fresh, flavorful, and put together well--not dry, not greasy, just right. The side salad was a standout on its own, with a delicious rosemary vinaigrette that was bright without being overpowering. We also tried the Harvest Salad, which was equally good; the beets were tender and everything tasted thoughtfully prepared. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering. When another friend said let's eat somewhere healthy I recommended the Garden Grill...it was a selfish move on my part if I had to eat healthy I had to have that amazing Reuben sandwich that I was floored by last year. The server first low-key reprimanded us for having moved our tiny 2 top table about 2 inches because it was really cramped sitting that close to another table. It was kind of bizarre because no one sat at the table that we'd moved closer to. The server later realized it was ridiculous and apologized. I had the tofu BLT (which I have had before and really liked) and it was SO SALTY that it was practically inedible. Maybe there's a new cook? My wife had a pizza which she said was just "okay." Love the food at Garden Grille. Two of us went today for an early lunch around 11:30. Server was Grace B, table B 2. The place was maybe 1/4 full. Server seated us at a tiny table toward the back, one seat against the wall, one facing the wall. Since there were many other tables available, I asked if we could move over one table to a table for 4 up against a wall. It just looked more comfortable and private. There were 4 tables for 4, which were all empty. Server said no, those are for larger parties. 45 minutes later when we left, 2 of the 4 larger tables (including the one I asked for), were completely untouched during our time there. Would have been so very simple, and considerate to honor my request for a different table. Server was clearly not a seasoned waitress who would've happily honored the request. Garden Grille has never ever dissapointed me and I've been here numerous times (approximately 50 or so times). I find it to be an absolutely delicious vegetarian restaurant. Their consistency is nothing short of amazing. I mean I've been here so many times and their orders are made in a timely manner, the staff are always friendly/knowledgeable and food is delish. My absolute favorite dish that I crave on a regular basis is the Butternut Squash Quesadilla. It's sweet, tortilla beautifully charred with overflowing cheesiness. My next favorite dish is Reggies Raw Heaven. I usually eat this salad when I feel like I need a detox from my ordinary diet and lifestyle. Reggie's Raw Heaven Arugula - Mango - Grapefruit - Avocado - Beet-infused Jicama - Cashew Gamasio - Pomegranate Dressing This salad doesn't sound all that impressive, but all the ingredients mesh so well together. I'm back to traveling for business which also means dining out all the time. This week, I'm in Providence, RI. and dining at the Garden Grill. If you're ever in the area, don't miss this 5-star gem!! If you live close by, I'm jealous! Food: The food was amazing! I started with the soup of the day; Creamy Potato & Celery Root. I was expecting a small cup or bowl; instead it came in a large cereal type bowl. Next, I ordered their Mac n Cheese adding mushrooms and beacun. The sauce was the best I've had and made in house!! Both serving were enough for 2 or in my case to finish later at the hotel. Service: Everyone was super kind and helpful. With so many mouth-watering choices I asked my server for help. She was informative and gave great recommendations. Ambiance: Seating for approximately 36 and that doesn't include the 7-8 seats at the full service bar. Nicely decorated with live plants. I ordered over the phone for pickup. I was trying to decide between here and Wildflour, not realizing (until I showed up) that they are neighbors. They are both in a strip mall that offers plenty of free parking. The menu prices aren't listed online so I added them here: Pastrami Seitan Reuben with Violife cheese - $13 + $1 (A+): Reuben sandwich served with a pickle spear and tortilla chips. There was a $1 up-charge for vegan cheese that I was not aware of until checkout. Now about the food. The sides aren't even worth mentioning but OMG, that sandwich was so amazing. It was extremely flavorful and full of ooey gooey cheesy goodness. I could eat this again and again. I can't wait to get another one in my mouth ASAP. A must try! Roasted Chimichurri Brussels - $11 (A): After seeing another Yelpers post, I was afraid of getting a tiny portion. They must have taken notes because the portion was great, especially for a starter. The seasoning was on-point and the sunchokes almost stole the show. I've never had sunchokes before but recently saw them used on the Food Network. Now I am obsessed and must find these in the grocery store. Risotto Cakes $11 (B+): These were also very good. The only reason they got a B vs an A was because they were quite soggy. In fairness, it was probably due to the takeout box. Nonetheless, the cakes were also flavorful, chewy and the onions and arugula were the perfect accompaniments. The only negative was the sauces. I was given two sauces, one mint green and one pinkish and both were actually bland. Luckily, the food was so bold it didn't need any sauce. I am absolutely returning in the near future. read more
