I found this little gem completely by accident. I was returning some items to Amazon at the UPS store closest to my office. It was lunchtime, a nice day and I was starving. The nondescript, unassuming little building across the street from the UPS Store was flying an 'Open' flag by the front door, so I Googled the menu and decided to try it. There was plenty of street parking so I fed a meter and walked on in. The interior is simple but cozy. I was greeted right away and found a small table. The dining room was about half full and there were a few people at the counter. Some breakfast specials remained on the chalkboard but it was after 12:00pm, so the lunch menu was presented. I decided on the Grilled Eggplant on Ciabatta, with goat cheese, baby spinach and sun dried tomato pesto. Sides were fries (baked) or Asian cucumber salad. It also came with two thickly sliced homemade dill pickles. The entire meal was delicious. The bread was lightly toasted - just enough crunch without injuring the roof of my tender mouth. The combination of delicate flavors and textures was perfect. The fries were a bit chewy, but still good. And extra points for the pickles, for sure! (Sometimes, it's the smallest touch that makes a memorable meal). Service was friendly and attentive. Ambiance very nice. I'm happy with my discovery and will most definitely visit again soon.

a bowl of soup on a plate

I just walked over for a bowl of soup. It says chicken rice on their chalkboard sign and I confirmed with the person at the front who replied, " I think so". When I got back to the office I poured it from the to go container to a bowl. There are 3 large bay leaves in it,1 small piece of chicken and maybe 4 diced carrots and celery. There is no stock and no flavor. I feel like she gave me the beginning of a soup; it tastes like garlicky dishwater. I am so disappointed. $6.20 wasted. The picture below is what I poured into my bowl from the plastic container. I am throwing this out.. awful.

    Italian bread.

We have ordered 4 times. 3/4 times our order was wrong or missing items. 1 time our brown bag special had no cookie/brownie, another time our breakfast was missing potatoes (hash or home fries whatever they call it). And this time my "Soup served with focaccia bread" was missing the focaccia. I had specifically asked if they had it before even ordering. My friend picked up the order - checked on cookie and didn't check bread. I called and they said "you can come pick it up". They had 2 small round slices of Italian bread waiting for me. Italian bread and focaccia are not the same. If this is what you serve change description. Very disappointing as I ordered because I had a taste for a good focaccia. My chicken and vegetable souls is: chicken, rice, yellow and red pepper and basil. Wouldn't that be chicken and rice soup? I was expecting chicken and vegetables!!

Clean! casual atmosphere & friendly faces !! I love the classic breakfast special -Eggs made exactly how I like every time, crispy home fries, fresh wheat toast and that perfect cup of coffee! The Price is right at 6.99, ingredients always fresh. This place is no greasy spoon rather a quaint little gem. Everything is so fresh and flavorful, made to order , it's no wonder they are always busy .... . Some great choices: the chopped salad, Good salad, mini meal of the day, soup of the day & chicken Caesar wrap. If your in a rush be sure to call ahead. They Close at 2:30 /3pm

    Cute

This place is tucked on South St. across from UPS sTore I ordered the Frankenstein Sandwich the chicken was tender and the ciabatta was tender! Only thing the bacon wasn't cooked all the way but if you like it partially not crispy it's perfectlyy tasty!

Great spot for a quick breakfast. Freshly Brewed coffee. Breakfast was made to order. Friendly staff. The people were great. Parking was a little tough during busy hours. Very worth it.

Frankenstein, $9.25. If you're reading this: I don't know you, but you could make a better sandwich. I'm confident in that.

Looks promising from the outside. I was expecting this cute little lunch break spot to be well decorated inside with an equally delicious French cuisine. Wrong and wrong. So wrong. I walked in and thought I entered a diner. Very low key and casual - that's fine, but misleading based off the adorable exterior and street view. A bit of a wait to get the order in, and an even longer wait for the food. It's one thing when you wait for a meal that's amazing. But this was less than mediocre. I ordered the Frankenstein, per the recommendation of the cashier. It sounded good, but when I bit into it, I needed to double check the menu. All I could taste was chicken and mozzarella. Homemade herb mayo? Again, had to open the thing to see if that was true. The tomato was also MIA taste wise. I saw it, but it was small - so no wonder the taste buds were confused. Not worth $9.25 for a meal I could have crafted to perfection in my own kitchen. Nothing French about this at all. In fact, nothing French about any of the menu options - misleading. So hot in here to top it off. Parking wasn't an issue ; yes I paid $2 to do so but whatever, that's Providence.

I'm keeping this short and sweet, just like Rue Bis. Ambience: simple, clean, cozy. No kitsch; no frills. Old-school counter service, high ceilings, semi-open kitchen. It's really cute! Service: very sweet and efficient. I went at an off-hour (1:30; way after the lunch rush) and was served a hot meal in 15 minutes. Food: I had the sweet potato soup and a half chopped salad with chickpeas, feta, mango, and chicken. The soup was too sweet for me (it tasted as if it had a pureed apple base), but the salad and herbed dressing were on point. My companion had a Bacon, Egg, Tomato on a flatop-grilled ciabatta roll. It looked amazing. We both ordered the cucumber salad on the side, which was decent, but not spicy enough for me. All that, copious amounts of coffee, and seriously sweet service, all for $20. The locals in the know flock to Rue Bis, and I may find myself migrating there from time to time, too!

The server said there was really only one option on the menu for vegetarians which is what I ordered. The food is served luke warm and for $15 I'm pretty sure I could have made this same dish at home for much cheaper and probably better. It has a spicy chili oil on the side that you mix in along with the pickled radish which was more salty than pickled tasting. One bunch of noodles wasn't properly cooked and clumped at a section. I consider myself pretty good eating with chopsticks and the slippery noodles proved to be quite difficult to eat. Not a good option if you're on a date and maybe concerned with how you will look eating this dish. Probably the saving grace of the dish was the mushrooms which allowed me to give this place 3 stars. I will not be back to this restaurant. I only ordered a hot water with a lemon for a drink. No lemon was given, only a chipped little cup (pictured), and the restaurant was freezing. I kept my coat on the entire time. The menu is really tiny. I suggest looking at the menu before going and really making sure there is something you want to try before going. Rookie mistake made on my end!

My friend originally wanted the Green Curry Ramen, but it was out of stock, so they tried the Spicy Sesame Ramen instead. It was decent, though not particularly memorable. We also shared the cabbage salad, which was crisp and tangy--a definite highlight. If you're looking for ramen that's very traditional or bold in flavor, this might not fully hit the mark, but there are some tasty options to try. Service: Our waitress was friendly and polite, though we noticed she didn't check in as often as we might have hoped. We did have to go to the bar at one point to request the bill, but overall, she was pleasant. Ambiance: The restaurant is cozy and intimate. There's a sign and curtain near the entrance that says "wait to be seated," which was a little confusing at first, but a regular customer kindly guided us around it. Inside, the seating is a mix of a long bar and smaller two-tops along the walls, so it works best for smaller groups rather than large parties.

Our potato appetizer was delicious; my SO had the Rhode Island Red which was also fantastic. However, my green curry bowl was super disappointing... very bland even though I added a bunch of chili oil. The noodles were delicious but the broth tasted like a VERY watered down Thai curry. The noodles were like a khao soi gai but it just had very little flavor. I think it was just the specific bowl I ordered -- we'll probably be back since we live in the neighborhood.

We were sadly in a rush and had to be out by a certain time to catch a show, and our server understood the assignment and got us out on the tight schedule we needed. I'm just sad I had to slurp down my soup so quickly as it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the Snow Mountain Ramen - the creamy tofu broth is unlike anything I've had and was so so unique and delicious. I thought about it for at least a week straight after eating it and am still dying to go back to get more. I also got the Iced Rose Matcha drink - $10 felt too pricy for this but I wanted a fun drink and a little caffeine kick - and again the flavors were unique and tasty. Both my friend and I happened to see someone we knew here - it's definitely a popular spot! It was packed on a Saturday night but it was still pretty quick for us to get a table for 2. Being a downtown city restaurant, the tables feel a bit cramped and I was a little too close to the table next to me for comfort - claustrophobics beware (honestly the soup is worth it though!!) Parking is pretty easy in the lot, although Holy crap they need to fix the potholes / harsh drop-off where it meets the street, and it still was not fully plowed many weeks after the big snowstorm (it's a shared lot so not a Y Noodle specific issue, but just saying). The only thing that was unpleasant were the bathrooms - I get it was a busy weekend night, but they reeked of a litter box the second you stepped in, the floor was dirty and very wet with unknown substances, and the Dyson hand dryer is at such a weird, too high level on the wall that it sprayed water in my face. Everything else was a dream, can't wait to go back! Hopefully the bathrooms were just a fluke.

Although this isn't fine dining, I find a sporadic placement of food to be strange because I sat with my food in front of me waiting for everyone else's. Service is not necessarily friendly, but they are attentive.
