I only leave reviews for companies or people that truly excel in what they do or someone that is far below standard.. This is an instance of STELLAR customer service and care. Let me start by saying this, you can easily tell this is a younger group of workers when you call in but they have better customer service skills than people that have been doing it for many years. They grasp the concept of HOW TO PROPERLY TREAT PEOPLE and to ensure return customers, which anyone who knows how to run a business, understands that how your business thrives, through return customers and their referrals... I can tell you, with a million percent certainty, I am a multi time returning customer. I want to specifically point out Christina, who I have spoken to on the phone each time I needed help. First, I ordered a very very large order which I needed in a very specific amount of time... Not only was she happy to accommodate me but she personally took the package herself, likely on her own time, to ensure I received it timely, which I did. Then, I had a few games that were not functioning properly so I called again and once again, she went above and beyond her job to help me, even taking the time to call my local store, and making sure they took proper care of me. Her customer service skills and pleasant attitude are very hard to come by anymore and when I have people that treat me like this, I ALWAYS go back to them with my business. This company in general has excellent employees at all stores I have been too locally and especially in their main office when you order online. Christina is a huge asset to say the least and if management is wise, which I do believe they are since I actually took the time to call him and tell him about how great she was, they would absolutely do everything they can to ensure they retain her for a long duration... If not, I would hire her in a second! THANK YOU and I will absolutely be returning MANY more times with my business... read more

I would like to start by saying that I have been a gamer all my life. I have been collecting since 1988. I know and love videogames. This place is pretty cool. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the collection is very nice. That being said, NEVER EVER SELL YOUR STUFF HERE. They will R a p e you sideways and not even clean you up afterwards. As I said before , I know videogames. I know titles and rarities and how much they are worth. If you're reading this, I know more than you. And these guys will not only NOT give you what they are worth in store credit for pre-owned stuff you bring in. They will take that number and CUT IT IN HALF if you opt for cash. You are better off selling at a pawn shop or any number of online avenues (ie; Amazon, eBay, offerUp, craigslist). Some of their prices are competitive to Amazon but for the most part they are higher than normal. Especially with newer Gen games. I hate to say it but for purchasing used Xbox 360 / Xbox One , PS3 and Wii games, as well as Skylanders figures, you are better off going to GameStop. :( However their retro stuff is great! The museum is awesome and you can find some games for under $10, but not many. I do feel bad for the poor sap who sold their classic collection to Gameover for $20.00 (ten in cash) just so they can mark up the price by 500% as soon as he leaves the store. High prices kinda takes the fun out of the hobby. 2 Stars read more

My wife is sort of a Nintendo freak. Yes, she is. So this is where we go when she wants something old school. Yes, I could probably get a lot of this stuff off Ebay cheaper, but I like supporting local businesses. Prices are fair, and the staff has always been pretty helpful. Its kind of in an odd spot on Anderson, and took us a bit to find it the first time, but its worth it for the good selection when my better half goes retro on me. Now if I can only find where my mom stashed my Atari 2600 and 7800 and maybe I'd be there more often. read more

I love this store. It is my favorite for retro gaming needs. The museum is cool, they sell local VG inspired art, have demos set up, and the staff is great. I read a few reviews that say when you trade in they rip you off, but in my opinion they have some of the best buy back rates! When selling old games (no matter how old/new) you should NEVER expect a lot of money. If you are offered over $5 for 10 games you are lucky! I have sold so many old games to many places and I feel that this chain is really trying to give back as much as possible. I have seriously traded over 10 games at one store to get a mere $5 back! At Game Over I have gotten as much as $17. Also keep in mind that what you are selling back may not be in demand so it may not be worth a a damn! This place is fun to shop in, sell your stuff, and even just hang out in. They sell drinks and snacks so you can chill on the couch, play a few games and munch on some goods. If they don't have what you want ask the clerks if any of the other locations do have what you want. Last December I needed a few Game boy SPs and this location didn't have any but the Sunset valley location did! read more

This place is amazing. They have everything. But you know what? Everything would be nothing without the amazing customer service their passionate employees bring to work. Yeah you could probably find the games cheaper online but their service sets them apart and is the reason I keep coming back. read more

A pretty impressive store. Austin really lacks quality game stores that hit all the notes for me. Not only did it have a ton of games and consoles spanning most American consoles, they also had a small selection of import games. Their showcase room with video game art for sale through local artists and fantastic as well. Only thing that makes me sad is the prices are...exactly what they should be. Don't come here expecting to catch something rare for much cheaper than online. Still, they nail the atmosphere and if I just want to browse a ton of games it's probably the best place I know. read more

They have lots of SEGA genesis games and they had them at great prices! They were friendly too.

First time here and I really think this store is better then game stop. Game stop offered me $30 for my PS3. Game over got me $120 for it. to me there is no comparison. Game over as a wide Variety of old generation games and new games. read more

For retro games you have been searching for, this place has a great collection and typically offer great prices. I've been ordering online with them for over a year and have to say the online service is top notch. Games come in great condition. If they don't, I was notified before making a purchase that there was an issue, or I was even called. Registering to their mailing list is a great idea if you have not done so, there's always coupons and online deals that is always great if ordering a decent amount. Wish there was a store around where I live, I'd be checking them out regularly. Highly recommended if your into retro games or searching for games of rarity. read more

Really great service and nice selection. Yesterday, they made an exchange for me that was totally unnecessary, and a second when the game ended up being for the wrong system. Because of situations like these, I wouldn't shop anywhere else. read more

Greatest store of all times. Chris, Shane, ty, and Dj are all amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. If it's not already, this could easily become your new go to spot for anything from Atari to ps4. read more

I used to collect console games and recently got out of the hobby--with some regrets. I sold my stuff to Game Over, and the staff was very helpful and patient with me walking in with boxes of old stuff and going through it, and gave me a good value for my items. If I wanted store credit, I could have had a bunch more--but the goal was fewer rather than more games. They very clearly know their gaming hobby and care very much about getting it right. They have free play and demo games scattered around the store, and they were always happy to answer anyone's questions. I have to endorse this business--I may not be into consoles much anymore but if I want to go back, I know where to go. read more

This place is incredible. I was having problems with my SNES (consoles lasted more than six months without breaking back in the day) and they did everything short of opening it up to try to get it working again. Now, whenever I'm in the area I'm always tempted to drop in, not to purchase anything, but just due to nostalgia. That being said, I have a hard time leaving the store without dropping twenty or thirty bucks on my favorites from the early 90s. Everything is very reasonably priced, and the range of games and systems they carry is amazing. If you're looking for an older hard to find game, this should be the first place you look. It will probably be the last place you have to look as well. read more

Game Over has a great selection of games, systems, and accessories from just about every console ever released. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They cater to casual gamers as well as collectors. Its nice to have a store that understands the significance of selling a game with original box and instructions. This is the best place in Austin to buy retro games, for sure. read more

Great store! The employees are always friendly and they have great events in the store as well. Buncha great games and memories.

Their online customer service has been fantastic. I've ordered from them multiple times, and each time they've sent me pictures and thoroughly described the condition of the games I asked about prior to my spending money. I'll certainly continue to check back in regularly. Also, signing up for their e-mail newsletter gets you great coupons on already good prices. Thanks again! read more
