In a Sunday afternoon, not many game stores are open during that time. I was really impressed with the variety of games available in this small shop. Walking in the store, you will notice that it is really clean and that you are able to sit and play games if you are so inclined. The staff was able to help us select a game that was perfect for us to play quick campaigns which is what we needed. When we are ready to look for something new, we will be back. read more

Love the dnd games they have on Saturdays and have made new friends there. They also have a cool collection of cards to sell

I've tried to give this store a chance, but the management of TCG events is a disaster. There is zero consistency, and the staff constantly provides conflicting or false information. Major issues I've encountered over the course of a year: * Invalidated Sign-ups: I signed up for a Union Arena demo event through the official Bandai app. Despite having a confirmed spot, the store told us upon arrival that it was "first come, first serve." This completely defeats the purpose of official registration and wastes players' time and money. * Lack of Transparency: When asked why they aren't using Bandai, I was told they "can't control who attends" if they use it. Meanwhile, regulars at the store mentioned they received personal phone calls from the shop to sign up before the general public could. * Gatekeeping Promos: During a Lorcana event, staff attempted to withhold promos, stating they were only for "league members" rather than distributing them to event participants as intended This store clearly prioritizes a small circle of "regulars" over following official tournament rules or respecting the time of new players. If you aren't part of their "inner circle," don't bother signing up through official channels they likely won't honor it. read more

Today was the last time we will be going to this store for purchasing any type of MTG products. I will also say I have been playing Magic the Gathering for about 26 years, I can say I am experienced with the game, having bought booster after booster. We purchased two booster packs(which were over the general price for a booster), they were different ones. We were not able to hold them till we paid for them, and when we walked out the door, holding them, something felt off with one of the packs in particular. It was incredibly loose. We got into the car and opened one and I noticed immediately, the cards were not in the same order. Usually it is common's, uncommons, rare, mythic , land, then foil and token(if they have a token). This was arranged Token first, uncommon, rare, land and foil mixed within commons. We just got through purchasing cards from another shop, and we compared the packaging and it looks like they were opened down the center and resealed. Not only that, they smelled like - fruity vape (which we do not vape), so it feels like someone was vaping, going through cards, pulling out the expensive ones(because there was not a card in the pack over .35 cents), and filling it with random crap, and then resealing it, and then selling it for over $10. Now I am not saying the owner is aware of it, but something is wrong. I would have written the store(hoping to catch the owner), but the staff are terrible at returning communication with customers, and if something shady is happening, I doubt it would get to the owner anyway. So hopefully this reaches them and they figure out what is going on(shady employees, shady supplier, whatever is it), and it stops. For anyone looking to shop here, check out your booster before you buy it. If it is loose or anything looks weird, ask them to grab another. Do some research on how to tell if your booster has been opened, it is not hard for people to do now days. read more

Best shop to play at in Austin, good atmosphere and friendly staff! Come join us for MTG Standard on Fridays

Not a store I would ever recommend to anyone and will definitely never return. I've visited several times over the last year (tried to sign up for events or just shop for TCG) and have also done an event here. Event Staff is super sketchy. Tried to give my group old promos instead of the ones we were supposed to get and stated that they were trying to keep the new promos for their weekly league players that were not even at the event. When trying to sign up for events, my friends and I are constantly told conflicting info. Whether it's that we should call, visit in person and that they in no way honor the Bandai system. And even when you do sign up, it doesn't mean anything because their first and only priority in their regulars. How do you expect to have a store that grows its player base when you shut out any new people? Calling people up personally to sign them up is a bit much. Staff also doesn't seem to be on the same page about info. You hear 1 thing from one guy, and apparently it's completely wrong and they should have told you something else. Poorly ran store as far as customer service and events. Tried to give the store a lot of chances due to being so close by, but time after time they are a let down. read more

Neat place. Stopped in while visiting in town for my son to add to his pile of Pokémon cards. I was impressed by their game selection. I also appreciate their seating area and it looked like they even had a side room to help with noise for the role players. read more

Game Kastle is a new and large board games store. There are tons of demo games displayed like Sushi Go and Everdell. Prices are on par with Dragon's Lair. Marvel Champions and Everdell cost more than at Gaming Goat. They also have a very large selection of candy and refrigerated drinks to purchase! read more

absolutely incredible paint selection from a variety of makers. ive been going all over austin, and game kastle is in a league of its own whenever it comes to available selection. i felt like a kid in a candy store, but i was an adult with my arms full of paints. to top it off the staff is super helpful, and the gaming area is huuuuge compared to most shops. definitely worth a stop for your tabletop needs. they also have a sick section of resin bits/bases/terrain that ive found in no other brick and mortar. cant wait for my wallet to recover for my next trip! read more

I have been coming to Game Kastle since they opened back before COVID and have always been impressed with the service and selection. Now that they've reopened since the Plague, this Store has been a welcome beacon and haven for the gaming community. For anyone in the North Austin area having a place to not only find and buy the games, paints and supplies for our hobbies, but a place to a actually have space and environment to PLAY is a godsend. The staff are knowledgeable, amiable and welcoming to newbies and grognards alike. I absolutely encourage any gamer, painter or collector of mini figs, board games, TCGs or tabletop war gaming to visit and see what this Store has to offer. read more
