Ive been coming here with my wife a couple times every weekend and some during the week. The store has a nice selection of games and its really cool to see a vintage game store like the good old days and prices are fairly reasonable. One thing I really really like is the customer service. Every weekend when we make our trip its sometimes on a Sunday since the saturday crowd makes my daughter anxious, but the asm deedee and brenda are always breaking their backs working hard trying to maintain the store and even assist and greet customers while doing so. They have excellent customer service skills and are flawless at multitasking and have even remembered our faces and names by now so it makes us feel very seen and welcomed. Today I felt bad for deedee because it looked like she was about to have a heat stroke washing the windows outside she was sweating bullets and did not look very good, but she greeted me as always and opened the door so I wouldn't touch the wet door handle. I even joked and asked her if she wanted help or for me to get her a water, and she said no thanks it has to be done and she can rest when shes dead lol. When I went in the store I saw brenda who greeted me as usual and was doing a ton of dusting and cleaning, but she was also checking up on me and my family while doing so. Also there was a new girl im guessing?? I normally dont see her during the late Sundays but I do see her during Mondays, and I will say I was pretty disappointed with her. She was too busy just standing watching the other two clean and then proceeded to be on her phone. She wasnt interacting or interested in us at all. Maybe its because she is new? Im not sure but I guess its nice to be hired to not do anything, first impressions are everything to me and the few times ive seen her she is just standing there, not engaging, and on her phone. But I will give an A+++ and this 5 stars for the other two girls, busting their butts and being attentive to customers. We will definitely keep coming back because they were very pleasant. And deedee if you get to read this dont push yourself in the texas heat, you did not look very well. The only reason I didnt leave a negative is because I want them to see i appreciate them every time I see them. read more

Please take your business else where. Called to inquire about testing a console and was met with a snappy remark on the phone that unless i plan on selling it don't even bother coming by. Ok...what if i want to test the console and if it works I'll wind up buying cables and games from your store? This was the first red flag that this business doesn't actually have a love for retro games or gamers. Regardless, I still made the mistake of coming to this location and when I entered the store and told the two workers that I wanted to sell my Dreamcast they instantly spouted out that without the cables they will only give me $5. Five whole dollars for something they will turn around and put a $100 sticker on once I walk out the front door. They did not offer to test the console first or even give me a second of their time. They were too busy pricing video games well over market value to give any sort of attention to their customer. Prices here are also astonishing and insulting. It blows my mind that small businesses like this still try to rake you across the coals when Ebay exists and you can simply look how much you can get the game/accessory for online. Everything was marked up beyond belief and the place gives off an evil vibe. It feels like a company that has zero love for video games and just wants to exploit people who are looking for a nostalgia hit. The people they hire also clearly give off the same energy and could not care less about you or your old retro videogames. They just see dollar signs. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place and just shop online at DKoldies or Ebay if you are looking for a nostalgia fix. At least the name of the company is fitting because it will be game over for your wallet if you shop here. read more

The selection for the Wii here is amazing, I had some roommates that stole all of my Wii stuff except for the console itself, I was able to completely rebuild it and restart my collection of games thanks to this store. The employees have always been very pleasant to work with, I had my HDMI cable break after taking it to a friends house and they were able to swap it out to a new one for me, in the same trip I brought in some things to sell to them and was able to get store credit that ended up covering more than 1/3 of my purchase making it just $10 for the controllers I needed, Definitely recommend this place for any retro gaming. read more

Good store to come to if you are in the market for used/retro games. My experiences here have always been good, and the employees are always knowledgeable about games and fun to have a conversation with. The only drawback I have is that it is a smaller store compared to the other locations, i.e, the location off of W Anderson, so there isn't as much stock or variety. But overall will def be coming back here in the future. read more

Great store! The staff here always knows their stuff, they are always friendly and knowledgeable. We have a house full of video game fans with lots of new and old systems. We are constantly trying to locate an old out of print favorite or a pice of equipment for an older system and Game Over always has what we need and the pricing is fair. I was surprised to see this store with less stars. I really dig this little outfit and want to leave them the good review that they deserve. Success Story: Hubs and I went on a Sega Dreamcast binge a while back, this store helped us with getting the system and a few games. When one of the games did not work, we were able to return it for credit, no further questions asked. Customer Service: I love the community at this place. Sometimes it is quiet, but other times I have gone in and seen a few people there playing 3DS for Streetpass, usually with Pokemon or another Streetpass enabled game. The clerks are always super chill and nice, very dilligent. Never had a problem there. Selection: They have some rare finds from time to time. Chrono Trigger for SNES, and Secret of Mana. They even had a copy of Rez which is increasingly hard to find. I also go here to pick up manuals for atari games. It's pretty weird, but I find a lot of great art in those manuals. So, Game Over not only has games, but a lot of games media like Nintendo Powers and super old manuals that you can't get anywhere else. The store also supports local artists who have made game-related drawings or paintings. They have a small store module reserved for local art. If you haven't stopped by already, you should, especially if you're looking for the best of the recent past. read more

My son and I had the most wonderful experience at Game Over! Our brand new copy of Halo 4 got scratched by the XBOX, and we were hoping we could get it repaired. We went to Game Stop at La Frontera first because we were already at the shopping center. The very rude fellow behind the counter didn't even look up at us and said it was not repairable. Why repair a disc when you are hoping a customer will buy a new one from you? It was a totally different story at Game Over. They fixed it for us for $1! The very helpful gal behind the counter told us exactly what to do to prevent future scratches. She even offered to try to fix it again for free if the first try didn't work. The first try worked perfectly, and my kids are playing it right now! All of the staff is really cool and super friendly. My 12 year old loves to go there and chat about video game stuff. They are never rude to him and never seem to mind if we don't buy anything. They have tons of retro video games and consoles and a really cool selection of Nintendo novelties. Decent selection in used, classic games, which is the reason for the extra star. However their return policy is lacking. I recently purchased Super Mario All-Stars and World for a little more than I could find it online, but I went for it to avoid the shipping fees. I played the game multiple hours and made sure to save, then the next day, I booted up my SNES only to find all my data that I recorded the previous day was replaced with the data I had previously deleted. I tried to return the game to the store and the employees told me the cartridge was working fine, so I gave it another chance when I got home, played 2 levels and saved to make sure I could keep my data and AGAIN my data was replaced with the original data from when I purchased the game. Thanks for nothing, Game Over. I bought a defective game from you and now have to try and sell it the same way you sold it to me: SHADY. read more

Shop here only if you want to get ripped off and treated like crap. Bought a PS2 and a couple games from this place. The clerk said that if we encountered any problems, that we have 2 weeks to return it. So lo and behold, neither of the games work. Slightly annoying, but no big deal. The big deal was when I got there at 11 (the store's opening hour posted on the door) and no one was there. I figured that was fine; they'd probably just be a few minutes late. Nope! After waiting 30 minutes there was still no sign of life inside the store, and no one would pick up the phone. So, after wasting a good half hour waiting I now have to make the 30 minute drive back out there to return the crappy scratched up games they sold me in the first place. Really, Game Over? Oh, and let me add, that after all the hassle of exchanging the crap PS2 they sold me, I asked them to please make sure both of the games I bought were working. I couldn't see the tv the guy was checking it on, but he said they were both working so of course I took his word for it. But one of the games was not working. I bought three items from them ans 2/3 did not even work! So now, I have to trek back up there - where they may or may not be open (hours of operation clearly mean nothing to them) - to return ANOTHER item that they sold to me. Low quality items and terrible customer service. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I will definitely be shopping at Game Stop from now on. read more

I entered the store looking for help with playing my old SNES on an HDTV and the store worker, Brian, was awesome! I had been experiencing lag with my games and couldn't get things to work smoothly. I told Brian my issue and he spoke with me in depth about my options as it pertains to trying a different connection, TV refresh rates with old systems, TV settings, and even introduced me to an All in one retro game system (Retron 5), which I plan to purchase very soon. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about my issue, and he even attended to 4 other customers in the store as well as answered a few phone calls while helping me out! Nobody seemed to feel left out or wonder when they could get help because Brian was readily available. If Brian isn't a store manager, HE SHOULD BE! I've been to many game stores in my life but my experience with Brian was BY FAR the best! read more

I am giving it 2 out of 5 stars. I mean they have really good Customer Service and great selections of video games I used to play when I was a kid but they charge a little bit too much for used video games. I was going to buy Mortal Kombat: Trilogy for the PS1 and they wanted to charge me 30 bucks for it forget that! I didn't even pay that much for it when the game first came out over 16 years ago. Also, they wanted to charge me 45 bucks for a used Xbox 360 game and I got it at game stop for 20 bucks. This is more than a toy store and as far as I know I don't think you can rent Videogames. I've been going here for about three years to buy new and used games, consoles, and the occassional plush doll. The shop is clean and they always let me demo a game before I buy it. In most cases they have multiple copies of the same title, which comes in handy. The staff are always courteous and ready to help. read more

Love this place. It's not a great place for newer games, but if you're a collector or like older systems, it's perfect. I can get replacement controllers for my older systems, as well as score some deals on older games. That's not to say you can't find newer games here, that's just not their specialty. Went to give them another shot and had the same experience as last time! These visits were years apart and still they haven't improved at all. I'm still wondering how they pay bills with this type of rude service. First off, I went to get my two daughters a game for their Wii. They didn't have it at the other place I went to avoid having to go Game Over. They also did not have the game I wanted but had a few items I needed so I purchased a game and wii controller. The girl working was having a convo with a person not purchasing anything just having really important "geek talk" that is again, more important than a paying customer. My daughters are well behaved but even then the girl working was VERY obviously irritated by their presence. The store is small and cluttered. They have a mess of stuffed animals piled onto a shelf. Apparently my 8 year old touched the display and through the disorder of their arrangement managed to mess it up enough she felt the need to make her irritation known and rather than help me checkout she went and fixed the display. I apologized for them touching their stuff and she acted shocked that her displeasure was so obvious to me. To make it all just perfect the controller is a piece of garbage knock off that won't connect to my Wii. I will never spend another penny with this place. read more

My family really enjoy purchasing here and we buy so much from this store . Today was not a good day with this store. I purchased a game that in the back of the game it didn't show that it needed more items to play. Cashier and I both assumed that it was only for controllers . It was a pricy game . Due to their receipt I can not return any purchase only it had been damaged. I called GameStop and they said it's a game that been off the shelve. So I bought a over priced game that requires other parts that is not labeled in the back of the game with a purchase receipt that I can't do nothing with !!!!! Lesson learned, I will only buy games from GameStop because they have a great return policy. This place is only good for old games with a lot of research . Wife and I were on the hunt for a SNES for the boys for their birthdays (they are total retro gamers). After poking around online and not finding anything we would consider reliable, we found Game Over video games. After a quick phone call to confirm they had a SNES in stock we drove over. We ended up spending close to an hour there as not only did they have everything (except a few rare games) we were looking for, they had items our boys have been seeking for an extended period of time. One of the managers there, Brian was exceptionally helpful and had an extensive knowledge on everything vintage. I could not recommend this place more. read more

Okay, I like having a brick and mortar videogame store around. But if you're into vintage games, your not waiting for a release date of the news blow stuff up Call of "Doody". The appeal here is limited. If the game came out 10 or 15 years ago, you can wait 3 days to have it shipped at a fraction of the price. The P1 and SNES are two of my favortie platforms, but I don't think this store is a good resource. Why? What are some of the best games on those systems? Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasties.... IF they have it in stock, they don't make it worth the instant gratifiaction a brick and mortar store can offer over Amazon or eBay. Remember, that's IF it's in stock. They've got plenty of copies of games that were bargain bin when these systems were current. Anyone want to play Sylvestor Stallone's "Cliffhanger" for the SNES? Trade ins. Which is a better deal when you sell your car? Sell it privately or trade in at the dealer? I got it. It's business, it's convenience, overhead, advertising, et cetera. You get more for trade in that cash, which is the way it's suppose to be. But the trades aren't worth jack. No, I never tried to trade in "Cliffhanger" or my coverted copy of Shaq Fu (a Shaquille O'neal fighting game...wow). Limited appeal, limited audience. I wish them well. read more

Will charge you 75 dollars for PSX Metal Gear Solid but when you bring in a copy of that plus Final Fantasy 7 (another one they sell for quite a bit) plus 15 PS2 games and a working PS2 with accessories and they only offer 30 dollars in store credit, they might as well be insulting your intelligence. The price for selling is a bit low, unless you use it on a special card you can only use at Game Over locations. I'm no expert, but their game selection is pretty good, even for a store that doesn't like to pay for them. I couldn't really recommend this store to be completely honest, because chances are if you're looking for a specific game, they don't have it, and you'd be better off buying or selling online. They have a few systems that I'm fairly certain you can only get from their store, like the Retron consoles, but again, you can likely find one online for a much better price. read more
