Ive been coming here with my wife a couple times every weekend and some during the week. The store…read morehas a nice selection of games and its really cool to see a vintage game store like the good old days and prices are fairly reasonable. One thing I really really like is the customer service. Every weekend when we make our trip its sometimes on a Sunday since the saturday crowd makes my daughter anxious, but the asm deedee and brenda are always breaking their backs working hard trying to maintain the store and even assist and greet customers while doing so. They have excellent customer service skills and are flawless at multitasking and have even remembered our faces and names by now so it makes us feel very seen and welcomed. Today I felt bad for deedee because it looked like she was about to have a heat stroke washing the windows outside she was sweating bullets and did not look very good, but she greeted me as always and opened the door so I wouldn't touch the wet door handle. I even joked and asked her if she wanted help or for me to get her a water, and she said no thanks it has to be done and she can rest when shes dead lol. When I went in the store I saw brenda who greeted me as usual and was doing a ton of dusting and cleaning, but she was also checking up on me and my family while doing so. Also there was a new girl im guessing?? I normally dont see her during the late Sundays but I do see her during Mondays, and I will say I was pretty disappointed with her. She was too busy just standing watching the other two clean and then proceeded to be on her phone. She wasnt interacting or interested in us at all. Maybe its because she is new? Im not sure but I guess its nice to be hired to not do anything, first impressions are everything to me and the few times ive seen her she is just standing there, not engaging, and on her phone. But I will give an A+++ and this 5 stars for the other two girls, busting their butts and being attentive to customers. We will definitely keep coming back because they were very pleasant. And deedee if you get to read this dont push yourself in the texas heat, you did not look very well. The only reason I didnt leave a negative is because I want them to see i appreciate them every time I see them.

I didn't realize there was a GameStop so close by. This store has all things games along with some toys. The hubs and I perused the store. We did not find the specific controller my nephew wanted. If you are a gamer, this is your store! GameStop has a wide variety of prices from sales at 75% off to items for hundreds of dollars. There was only one sales associate and he looked a lot overwhelmed by the number of customers.

Pretty disappointing experience at this location during the "Chaos Rising" release event. I arrived…read moreearly and was 30th in line. A staff member at the door handed out tickets and clearly stated that anyone who was 46th in line or under would receive a promo card. Based on that information, I decided to make my purchase. However, once I got to the register, another employee, I believe his name was Christian - short guy in the picture told me I could not receive the promo card unless I had a Pro or Player membership. I explained that this requirement was never mentioned by the employee managing the line outside. She specifically stated that the promo cards were for those within the first 46 spots in line, with no mention of needing a membership. Before attending, I had also called other nearby locations to ask how the promo cards would be distributed, and I was told they were first come, first served. Again, no one mentioned any membership requirement. The inconsistent communication and lack of transparency made me feel misled as a customer. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I do not plan on returning to this location.

My bro and I decided to go on a "retro videogame crawl" over the weekend, and this is one of the…read moreplaces we stopped in at. It's a narrow, long shop making the best use it can out of limited space- prepare to crane your neck to try seeing everything. It's rather disorganized... some stuff is in glass cases, requiring you to ask for assistance (for instance, the basket of SEGA GameGear cartridges was impossible to see what they had without asking), other stuff is higgledy-piggledy on shelving, and nothing makes much sense in terms of separating games from DVDs/VHS from collectible cards from board games from action figures. Mind, some folks might definitely enjoy this kind of experience that feels like digging through a garage sale for unique finds to uncover treasure, so I can't knock it too hard, because there was definitely a lot of cool retro stuff to look at. The employees are... well, disengaged. I think they're tired. Apparently they deal with thefts on a rather regular basis, due to their location close to downtown Austin. When we asked to see GameGear games, we had to wait quite awhile, because one employee stayed behind the counter the whole time, and the other was busy with another customer... then finally when he was done with them, he sat beside us to watch us the entire time. ^_^;; So apparently everyone they don't recognize as a regular gets treated with suspicion. It's just not the best circumstance. This location does have a bathroom! It also has a small area with tables and chairs for customers to play board games (probably during scheduled times). Another thing to know ahead of time is that parking is challenging, since it's just along a major road with no parking lot. Your best bet is to pull in at Torchy's Tacos if there's room. Otherwise you'll be trying to find street parking and battling traffic.
