My son and I had a terrible experience at Game Stop! Our brand new copy of Halo 4 got scratched by the XBOX, and we were hoping we could get it repaired. We went to Game Stop at La Frontera first because we were already at the shopping center. The very rude fellow behind the counter didn't even look up at us and said it was not repairable. Why repair a disc when you are hoping a customer will buy a new one from you? It was a totally different story at Game Over near Sprouts in Round Rock. They fixed it for us for $1! The very helpful gal behind the counter told us exactly what to do to prevent future scratches. She even offered to try to fix it again for free if the first try didn't work. The first try worked perfectly, and my kids are playing it right now! I will not be going back to Game Stop. read more

We pre ordered Watch, went to go pick up gave husbands last name/first name, phone number, and of course named game and it was already paid for. yep, she didnt want to give me game since my name wasnt on acct. however, we have been to this store hundreds of times, as well as many other game stops no one has ever said this, including her.. She says its for his "protection" - I pointed out that being I said first/last name, phone number, game, paid in full, we have same last name - what can YOU possibly give me that i dont have. she eventually gave me my game.. get off your power trip little girl..its only a video game store.. read more

If you live in the North Austin area and are into video games this is a place you should check out. Not only do they have really friendly and helpful employees but they also have a very good selection of games and gaming accessories for all consoles both new and old school. It's in the La Frontera area near the Kohls store kinda hidden but not to gamers because there are always customers here so the selection of used games is always changing so be sure and check this place out. read more

Then we came to the one at La Frontera and they were very helpful. They helped us make a return, get store credit, which we then promptly spent in the store. I took my 4 yr old in to this store on 4/25/09. This is the first time I have ever set foot in a gaming store. I spent about $30 in this store and the guy behind the counter told me they didn't have a restroom that my 4 yr old could use and then directed me to the Chipotle across the street. Clearly, the employee followed the corporate rules to a t. He engaged the customer about the product. Attempted to upsell, shed light on promotions etc. Everything a well trained employee should do. But, he seemed to care. Even though I didn't spend extra money on some"disc damage plan" that isn't necessary, he was awesome through and through. Once that corporate bullshit was all out of the way. They did not contact me when my pre order arrived. Nothing from my contact history showing they tried. Since I didn't know to come pick it up they sold it to someone else. It was a gamestop exclusive item and is sold out everywhere within 100 miles. What's the point of preordering something if they are just going to give it to someone else. I'd suggest a different gamestop location if you are getting an exclusive item. I'm just going to avoid gamestop all together. I think these guys have played EVERY game ever invented! It's really weird asking a guy or girl who looks all of 15 years old for advice on games for my 7 year old twins, but they always nail it. Sorry bunch of a holes go in to buy something with my GameStop credit card.. I tell the person whose name was Sergio that I wanted a Nintendo switch only if I could get a increase to cover the full price so he runs my card and charges me 250 towards the switch which isn't what I wanted he tries to cancel but claims the computer locked up and so he resets it and everything gets wiped out and it never get cancelled he calls the customer care and claims it was cancelled but it wasn't now I'm on the hook for 250 bucks worth of nothing they won't look further into or give me store credit for the 250 I was charged now I have to launch a investigation which takes 60 days in hopes to get my money back .. fu@k this place and fu@k Sergio and his manager read more

Had an amazing experience yesterday, thanks to the female manager working opening (didn't catch her name). My son wanted to be a big boy and buy his own xbox controller on July 25th. He paid cash from his birthday money and didn't give my account name when checking out. Well, his controller broke on Aug. 1, so a week later! And of course he didn't keep the receipt. So I went into the store and threw myself on the mercy of the manager to salvage this $65 black hole situation, with literally no proof of purchase and a broken controller. The manager was AMAZING at helping me and making me feel like a valued customer. After looking through the computer for the day and time he purchased and not finding itemization, she exchanged it for me!!! I actually teared up I was so grateful. Silly, I know, but it meant a lot to my kid and I didn't have the money to buy another controller so soon. This store and the manager care about people. I will always patronize this store. read more

I recently bought a used ps4 for the income tax sale they were having, and it's been working fantastic. I bought an additional controller because, i like to play in style; And never really used the one that came with the system. My neighbors were constantly griping about every ass whoopin they got, swearing to me my controller was malfunctioning. So after investigating the matter I realized my controller was indeed faulty. I called gamestop and spoke with Jennifer and she assured me I could come in and she can take care of me. So I come in with my receipt and jenny quickly exchanges my controller for a new one while maintaing a friendly reassuring attitude. I love her. And before I go.... Shout out to that guy with the ponytail. I think his name was tony. Not sure. And shout out to that black dude. He was pretty helpful too. Keep it up guys read more

Very unimpressed (to say the least). The managers here are totally rude and stuck up. I do NOT recommend this location to anybody. 3 Years ago I bought a PS3 and it was defective, the console's suction for the discs was broken. I went in and they told me they couldn't exchange it because it was opened. WTF? I know that they can't refund it if it's opened but they can exchange it. So I raised enough hell they made a one time courtesy for me, I called corporate and they said they were mistaken that they CAN exchange it they just can't do a return if it's opened and that the only time they can refund money on a console is if it was used. 3 years later I returned with a friend who wanted to go, not once where we greeted and we were ignored when we asked for help. I called and complained to corporate about this. Never and I mean NEVER go to this location. It is just not worth the time, frustration, energy or anger. Go to either the Pflugerville location or the Greenlawn Crossing location, never had a problem with them. read more

I've never had an issue with this store until today. My five year old needed to go to the restroom really bad and I asked them to use their bathroom. I was told by the girl that they didn't have a bathroom, so I asked her what she used. She remarked that they didn't have a PUBLIC restroom. Excuse me you idiots, are you not serving the public. So, I had to take my five year old outside in the forty degree weather to pee outside!! I was so furious that I marched back in there and told them that I wanted a customer service number. At that point you would have thought that the stupid bald manager would have at least apologized, but no! I went down the street to the other Game Stop and spent the last of my kids $40.00 gift cards, because I promised my kids they would get to use their gift cards. I'm a Game Stop Points Club member and I have spent about $500.00 in games since November and they can't let my five year old use their PRIVATE bathroom. So, called the 800 number and apparantly the people in customer service are just as stupid. He told me I should make sure my child goes to the bathroom before we leave our house the next time and that the Game Stops don't have public restrooms for their customers to use. I told him, there won't be a next time. I have news for them too, if you live in the state of Texas and you have a medical condition (son does not, but I'm not sure it would not have mattered to them even if he did) they have to let you use their bathroom. It's a state law. By the way, this location is in a strip center, not a shopping mall. I will NEVER shop at another location again! read more

I had a terrible experience here. I was with my little brother picking out some new games, and as soon as we get ready to check out the guy (Bailey) says are you his mom ( obviously I'm not I'm 18 and look it) I said no what does that have to do with anything. He continues to say well the parent has to be here to consent to him buying those games. I said excuse me the games are for me, I'm buying the games. He automatically jumped to conclusions and started jumping down my throat. And he was refusing to sell the games to me! I told him I needed to talk to the district supervisor right away and he went into a little room in the back and I know he was talking shit. He came out and said nothing just looked at me. He said "do you have an ID" in the rudest tone. I said oh my goodness I think I may have left it at home. And then he said "oh so you're driving without a license?!" I said who are you a police officer? No it's in my car you asshole! He proceeded to check me out and look at me in an ugly manner. He is one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with and he was a manager his name was Bailey. I will never go to this location ever again and won't be taking my business anywhere near this place.
