I knew it was Valentine's Day this week and I went to the Trudy's Hallmark shop to buy other cards. Did I buy any Valentine's Day cards...nope! It was not until I decided to address my Valentine's Day cards that I realized I did not have any. Snappity snap snap!!! Put it in high gear girlie...get thee to Trudy's Hallmark Shop...quick...fast...and in a hurry! Valentine's Day is tomorrow!!! The store manager said you are back again...two times in one week. Don't remind me please. Well buying Valentine's Day cards the day before Valentine's Day was not an original idea as there was a long of folks with Valentine's Day cards along with gifts in their hands as they waited in line. I could easily get lost in this store for an hour. This location is more than just cards and ornaments. There are numerous themed sections (Texas, Disney, El Arroyo, baby, for example), each with unique items as well. They often have chocolates and other candies available as well. It's because of this variety, and the high quality cards, that keeps me coming back. read more

I bought my wife some candy but she didn't want it. She's overseas. I'm a diabetic so I can't eat it so I went to return to the store. It hadn't even been touched or opened. I get to the store and they told me they don't give returns for food purchases so I left and contacted customer care. Customer care gave me a runaround and told me they were sorry that I was having the problem, but I guess just keep the candy in the closet like the lady suggested to the beginning. I would like to preface that I would have normally given this a 4/5 as I like to support shops that have been in the Arboretum for many years. They do have a great array of cards for all occasions, but unfortunately their customer service needs work. The employee, while at first very helpful in pointing my parents and I in the direction of sympathy cards, became very aggressive in trying to sign me up for the membership program. I politely declined, letting her know that I would next time (I do not shop here frequently). She became rather defensive, and almost seemed dumbfounded that I wouldn't want to sign up for this program, considering it was free. I told her that I was short on time, and I unfortunately needed to get back to work from my lunch break, in which she asked where I work. She stated that she walks across the street to go to work every day, and I could take the time if I really wanted. My dad interjected that this was a corporate purchase, and she shortly responded that she worked for a corporation too. Finally, my mom interjected "he's not interested," and the employee turned to her and dismissively said, "this is a conversation between he and I," to which I quickly let her know that she was my mother, and I didn't appreciate her speaking to her like that. Her fellow associate stepped in to ease the tensions, and from there the employee became rudely transactional. The entire altercation was bizarre. It was a masterclass in how NOT to sell someone into a loyalty program. There was never an effort to recover from the situation. I do like that this store is in the neighborhood. I hope their management is able to work with their employees to be warmer and more welcoming. read more

Sending cards to my family and friends for their special occasions is one of my favorite things to do. They have a large selection of cards and gift items.Typically I only come here for cards but they have a lot of cute gift items. The employees always greet you and are super friendly. I always buy 3 cards at a time so I get more points. Nearly every transaction prints out a coupon for your next visit and because I'm at gold level, I always get a couple dollars off every other time I'm there. I'm so close to platinum level that I can taste it! They could use more bachelorette party cards as well as uncle, aunt & cousin birthday cards. They have a good selection for those unique holidays like Boss's day and Grandparents day and quite a selection when Christmas rolls around. Definitely check them out after Christmas too when everything goes on sale. read more

However, it's true, and as a male I found this out by dating some very special ladies. A few that helped me understand that the little things in life are important. At Amy's they have an section for whatever you are looking for. Anniversary, birthday, graduation, sympathy or whatever you can think of. Except for divorce. I went in a few years ago and politely asked for a Happy Divorcing card and they don't make them. More importantly, it's the thought that matters and when you buy from Amy's you get special attention. They will help you find what you need and you get that gold Hallmark sticker that lets people know you didn't get them a card from the grocery store. read more

This is my go to shop now that papyrus has closed at the domain. Joined the rewards program and came in today because of the great coupons they sent me! I bought about 7 cards, got one free and saved $8 on top of that! I have a lot of family birthdays in Nov and Dec so no problem meeting the criteria. The store is always well maintained, clean and inviting. The staff is friendly and ready to help if you need it or when you're ready to check out. Really great Hallmark Shop. I picked up some ornaments this time but I've been in before for cards and for gifts. It's very well organized and Absolutely jampacked with all kinds of gifts and cards and ornaments. The team there is very helpful and let me know if there were certain ornaments I couldn't locate I could buy them online and have them sent to the store for free so that was great information. I've had to trim my hallmark budget the last few years as I used to really be a Hallmark Aholic ...Anyway the cool thing is a lot of the Hallmark ornaments do indeed become collectibles so if you keep them in really good condition and the original boxes and such you can often sell them for more than what you bought them for. I never even thought of that in years past but since we are working on decluttering and downsizing I have photographed and checked a lot of them out at places that buy ornaments for collectors. they have A great collection of the Willow Tree Angels and many other collectibles as well. The reason I became a hallmark aficionado is they literally have cards for any possible occasion that could come up in your life and I appreciate that! I also do a lot of after Christmas shopping there as they marked down all the papers and ribbons that can very easily be used the following year. read more

This is the freaking HUGEST hallmark store I have ever seen. Huge, spacious and empty. They have a massive christmas selection of just about everything you could ever need to ring in the holiday properly. Its almost bizzarely quiet here and I was scared to talk. They had some cute candles with saying on em and some pretty decent cards ( well its hallmark, whatcha excpect?) When I left the store some random man was standing outside saying that his boss was trying to recruit people to sell art and phtoography from their cars at discount prices. A weird man. I couldnt tell whether he meant that his boss worked at hallmark or whether he was speaking of some random, unseen boss. Either way, he was funny. Come here for a card, but dont talk. This is the very best Hallmark in Austin and I would go as far to say its the best one I have ever been to anywhere. The staff is always friendly, quick to greet and assist in helping you find that perfect card or gift whomever it is you're trying to give a smile. I always love to come in and browse around after La Madeleine cafe, its a good way to just recover from stuffing your face. There's plenty of open space with lots of goodies and they have really good sales or clearance items too. read more

Perhaps it's because it's after Christmas, or it's because I bought on sale items or she was having the worst day, but the sales associates are the rudest. I bought at least 6 gift bags and 3 rolls of wrapping paper. I was rung up incorrectly while she yelled at someone on the phone.
