We always make a stop at Barnes & Noble whenever our granddaughter comes to visit. She absolutely loves books, and I love that she does, so I don't mind these trips. I like the Round Rock location because they have plenty of handicap parking spaces and nice wide aisles, which makes getting around so much easier in my wheelchair. The employees are friendly and helpful, and they have a great selection of books, plus a fun assortment of toys that my granddaughter loves. Every visit is something we look forward to. It's always a great experience that doesn't break the bank, and we leave happy every time. read more

The employees are always super helpful and kind when you have questions. The starbucks is usually run by 1 or 2 people but are speedy with your order and are always the sweetest! The store is very cleanly and neat. They have all the books you could ever need as well as lots of craft kits. The annex section is my favorite because of the price for one, and there are lots of different books that i wouldnt normally be drawn too. Love this place! This is a decently sized B&N store that's inside a mall area. There is a larger selection of books here but it can get very busy. The cafe area fills up pretty quickly so there aren't many places to sit if you get something to drink here. I do like the selection of things so I will keep coming back. I was looking for a way to beat the heat with my two year old. Barnes & Noble has been a place where we could spend over an hour looking at books and relaxing. Tell me why there is a huge toy section in the middle of the store that you have to go through to get to the kids section? Poor choice. There was no reasoning with my two year old, he did not want to even look at the books. Unfortunately, we will not be going back for a long time. This is a smaller Barnes and Noble than most but I still love coming here to browse. The small cafe is great with friendly staff and the bookstore staff are happy to look up and order any titles they don't have on hand. I never leave here empty handed and always with a sense of peace as the store is kept clean and fairly quiet as well. read more

It has been so long since I went into a normal book store. Was looking for unique cookbooks not used. The section I wanted was easy to locate. Getting to it another story. Why do they have to pack so much in every available space? Dodging in and out of table displays, made my way to the cookbooks. I was disappointed they only had two rows of cookbooks. Over half of the books were for special diets; Gluten free, Paleo, clean eating, all grain, etc. More on entertaining and wines, very little ethnic cooking. Found one on canning and preserving, that I thought might be interesting. Picked another that had nice pictures and interesting recipes. During the time I was there, all I saw was one employee checking out customers. Don't expect help finding anything if they are busy. The gentleman behind the counter was very pleasant. Since I wasn't looking at prices while selecting the books, I was a bit surprised upon paying. Twenty dollars each for these small cookbooks. Guess I will go back to buying used. read more

One of my classic go-to haunts. Their book, magazine, movie and music selection is pretty legit, plus they've got a Starbucks inside for food and drink. They also sell Nooks and journals and such. This is a great place to just go and chill for a little while, with family, friends, boyfriends/girlfriends alike. I've been going to this B&N for years, and easily half my library, if not more, was bought here. I've never had a problem with the staff either. The booksellers have always been helpful in finding a book for me or ordering one they didn't have. The baristas have always been pretty cool too. It's in a fairly convenient location, within walking distance or a very short drive of a number of other shops and restaurants, plus Lakeline Mall. read more

I hate giving one-star reviews. It's rarely representative of the actual experience, but please let me explain... Short story: My Nook was extremely buggy, and the service after the sale has been far worse than the product -- both at this location and over the phone. Long story: I bought one of the new Nook Simple Touch from this location and could not have been more excited. The Nook specialist seemed helpful enough, the product and location seemed to have solid reviews. Everything looked good on paper. I really began my reading frenzy a couple weeks after getting my Nook. The honeymoon wore off quickly, as my device was quite unstable. At three weeks, I tried going back to this store to have them RMA it and give me an in-store exchange. Honestly, this is not a huge deal for major retailers on current products, and it sure makes for a satisfied customer. Even with my receipt, they would not exchange for a new one and offered me a refurbished Nook three weeks after I bought a brand new one. I told them that this did not work for me, and they said "then we can't help you. Call 1-800-THE-BOOK." I did, and they make you give them your credit card number before a new one can be processed. I said that B&N had my card on file from my Nook book purchases and that I do not simply give out my credit card information to just anyone. Eventually they agreed to send one over with the understanding that mine would be returned within 14 days of receiving it. Lather, rinse, repeat. A pointless series of calls over 2.5 months eventually led to me writing customer service directly to discuss the lack of their sending me a new Nook, the overall lack of empathy for someone that simply got a lemon of a product and now my completely lack of desire to be a Barnes & Noble customer. We have too many options in this day in age to have to settle for piss-poor service. read more

Great bookstore in a great location. They have a coffee shop, tutoring materials, toys, magazines, a huge kids section, great sales and of course tons of books. I like to come here for gifts. They're a little pricey, I recommend membering up with them if you come here often. read more

I have spent many hours here. They have a great set up here. I enjoy letting my little man play with the trains and we will read books and have quite play time. He loves to go threatened books and we'll sit and read. They have a great kid area. They also have book readings with participation. They have some special events for the holiday but they have a bunch of different times when they read books. I think it's so important to get my little man to sit and listen to a story and not have his butt in front of a TV. They get to use the imaginations and look at pictures. They work on colors numbers even sign language! It helps teach to sit quiet and listen and that is so important. My personal favorite thing of these stores they have Starbucks. Give me coffee I'll sit and read to little man for a half an hour. We do also buy plenty of books too. read more

I went here to try and sneak in an hour or two of studying. Not the worst place to study but not the best either. The small round tables barely had enough space for my coffee, book, and laptop so that wasn't incredibly convienent. All the tables were dirty when I got there around 4:30 and there weren't many people around at all , so I found that a bit odd. I have to agree with a few of the reviews about the lighting because it does seem dim because some the light bulbs were out. Overall I like the store itself, but the Starbucks can def use some improvement. I ended up packing up my bag and giving up on studying to look around. The staff was super nice and pretty helpful when I asked about the programming books. The toy selection is cute...but overpriced. Will be coming back to shop but not to study. read more

I just love Barnes & Noble in general. Obviously they carry books...duh...but they also carry all kinds of other cool things...including a TON of Legos. They had at least two sets from all of the popular Lego sets - Harry Potter, Ninjago, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, and some more basic sets. They also have tables with a variety of Harry Potter items, Star Wars items and other special interests. Finally they have cool desktop sets - bonsai trees, Charlie Brown Christmas trees, bowling, Zen gardens to name a few...great stocking stuffers. This past Christmas I did almost all of my shopping here. Thank you Barnes & Noble! read more

The staff is really helpful

I have conflicting feelings about this B&N location, which I visit fairly regularly because it is the closest bookstore (at least for new books) to me... First, the bad: getting there is horribly confusing. If you go the wrong way you dead-end onto the highway, and you can barely see if from the road, especially since (at least the last time I checked) Barnes and Noble is not on the the marquee for the little shopping area it is in. Another con - their cafe is horrendous. Every time I've been there, no matter the time of day, I have to wait for coffee to brew. The people staffing the cafe are usually (though not always) rude and preoccupied, which normally I wouldn't mind (I have a pretty high tolerance), just so long as they're not making me wait insanely long for coffee. Which they do. So with these monster (at least for me) cons, why do I still give it a 3 star rating? Well, all of the workers in the actual book or music/dvd section have been lovely and helpful, going above and beyond to help me out or just talk about books. For instance, when my husband and I were there looking for some random dvd, the woman working the section said 'If I'm reading you correctly, you seem up for less-than-usual entertainment.' At first we waited in horror to find out what that meant, but then she asked if we had seen 'Let the Right One In' (Which if you haven't seen, and fancy a Swedish vampire flick, find a copy immediately!) Although it was strange being thus pigeonholed, I was greatly amused by how excited she was that she had read us correctly. I guess my point is that the people I've encountered at this B&N actually seem to take an interest in exposing people to books and movies they might not know about, and I value that greatly in a bookstore. That and their graphic novel section is pretty darn good. read more

Not many bookstores left, and as much as the chains are kind of bland, this one is pretty good. Tons of books, some Thomas toys, a Starbucks inside, nice employees, and room to sit down and take your time. I hope places like this are still around when my kids grow up, if not actual small, independent bookstores. Any time people are around books, it's a good thing. Also props for having the Teen Titans Go! comics, which my kids love. There were a fair number of college/highschool/junior high kids here studying, which was interesting (never would have thought to study at a bookstore back in the day) and it seemed like several people were helping themselves to magazines in the coffee shop that I hope they paid for or at least returned to the racks. They also have those Busy Books (stacks of 'em!) that my kids just love, so that's good. read more

Overall it's a decent BN location, but does not meet my needs though that is expecting much in suburbia. Their playing of a whole album of Seal cover songs definitely makes me think twice about spending money there. Recently I've been shopping for comprehensive guitar books or guitar maintenance. They have two books to that effect. One, attempt at a, comprehensive book (The guitar handbook) is very broad but superficial which is fine most of the time. The other maintenance book (How to make your electric guitar play great) is somewhat thorough, but skimps on some details, instead leaving it to the reader to reread x2. It looks like something cobbled together from guitar repair forums. My point is they don't have enough depth to meet my needs in that dept. Also I've been looking for a decent book on Technical Analysis, a very misleading subject title for something very boring...it's a method of recognizing patterns are quantitative techniques for day trading. Long story short, I wouldn't be studying this if it weren't for black November. They have two books. One book (Technical analysis for the rest of us) has specific learning objectives in each chapter (about 3-4 actually seem relevant) and review exercises. The other (Technical analysis plain and simple) is less organized, and besides that seems to contain the same crap as the other. I wish this store carried a book with a more quantitative treatment (including math formulae). My point, for anything technical that requires depth, you should probably just shop online and call up the half-pricen to seen ifn they haven it. Otherwise, if you're looking for the latest in the Twilight series they can probably hook you up. read more

Who doesn't love a bookstore?!?! This place is great for: 1. A mom's getaway. Leave the kids at home with your hub and go spend the evening alone to peruse through the aisles. Grab something to sip from Starbucks and amass a pile of books and magazines you want to look through. Find a comfy place to sit and stay until the store closes at 11pm. Go home relaxed. 2. Taking the young kids to story time. 3. Taking your older daughters to their American Girl's club. 4. Just hanging out as a family. We could easily spend a few hours here. 5. Buying gifts for other people here. A gift card works well too! 6. Hanging out with your mom friends. You all meet there and go through the trashy magazines. Take them to the cafe and dish on the latest celebrity gossip. Put them back on the shelf when you are done so you can still truthfully say that you "never buy that stuff" when someone of high cerebral intelligence questions your character. 7. Getting the homeschool discount. Make sure you ask for an educator's discount card. They also usually have about two homeschool events per year during their Educator Weeks. This location almost always has what I come in for, and they're always very well organized. They have a good staff overall, and one team member in particular always goes out of her way to be helpful. Their cafe is always clean, and there's usually not much of wait. I am kinda bummed that they changed up their soup selection, but as long as they keep the pizza pretzels, we're all good! Their bathrooms can sometimes get kinda gross, but hey usually are really good about keeping them clean. read more

After visiting other BN locations, this one just didn't do it for me. The internet connection was horrible. Several people (including myself) had to keep asking for the signal to be reset. The worst thing about this place is the Cafe. The employees are always loud and carrying on non work conversations. Its amazing that they still work there. If I had to go back to this location is would be because I had no other place to pick up a book. read more

This is where I love to go after 8pm on weekends. Cool Fact: Regular Storytime for kids is on Wednesday & Saturday @ 11am. I plan to bring my siblings there every Saturday. My only complaint about this place is that they don't keep maintenance with the lights at the coffee shop. I've actually thought about donating a few light bulbs. There's also a lack of electrical outlets for your laptop, so you better make sure your lappy is charged up before you come. Other than these highly recommended areas for improvement, this is a great book store. read more

This place is my go to bookstore, though it is actually in Cedar Park, not in Austin. The thrifty side of me wants to order all books online, but there is something wonderful about browsing at a good bookstore. They don't always have the book I'm looking for, but that just means I have to browse their shelves and find something else exciting. They also have a wonderful selection of puzzles, games and gifts, that make it a great place to shop for birthdays and Christmas. The Starbucks is wonderful, with plenty of seating. It is a great place to bring your kids. Although technically "dog friendly" not particularly friendly about it... I actually asked one of the staff the day before I brought in my dog, just to make sure it was OK, even though it is posted on their website. To be fair, it was as much the customers as the staff who seemed freaked out that I brought a dog inside a bookstore. I take him everywhere I can, so it seemed like a blessing to me that they allowed dogs inside. Even though he didn't bother anyone, people just stared at us like I was committing a major crime and they couldn't understand why no one was stopping me!! I've taken him twice, and it was uncomfortable enough to ensure I don't take him again. This does cut down on my visits to the store personally, but it's still the best bookstore in the area. read more

I love this place so much, I sort of wish I could get a part time job here. I love bookstores so much, and it broke my heart when the Borders in the Domain closed, but this has made me feel so much better. My school had a fundraiser here a couple weeks ago, and the staff were so nice and accommodating. They really didn't have to be that way. What do they care if our school makes money? But they were SO NICE. The staff were friendly, helpful, and wanted us to succeed. They got posters and balloons ready for our fair, made overhead announcements when we had story times, choir performances, jump rope team performances, a teacher dog parade out on the front, face painting, and some of us stood at the door all day asking people when they came in if they were there for our school's fundraiser. One employee even suggested that we make a special Vanilla Bean Frappuccino in the cafe in our school colors, to entice our students to buy one. It worked like a charm, and we made more money in 12 hours than we make when we close the library for a week and no kids get books. This way, we got more money, we hosted a ton of community-building activities within our neighborhood, and didn't have to stop providing free books to our students for a week. It was honestly a FUN fundraiser. When does that happen!? Adriene, Dan, Mary, Jen, and everyone else who worked that day were so great. I really appreciated their support and open-mindedness with all of my programming ideas. It was an awesome collaboration, and we both made a lot of money from the day. What a great store! I hope we can do it again next year! Since then, I have a sweet spot for this store, and have gone back a couple times to pick up holiday gifts for my loved ones (and yes, myself. I LOVE THIS PLACE). It just feels so good to browse it. This must be what it's like to love shopping, because I love this place! read more

I have been to several Barnes and Noble in the area and everything seemed fine at this one. I always ended up with the same girl helping me, I think her name was Rachel and she was super cool and helpful. Had multiple trips where I generally grab a coffee before leaving and I have to draw the line at rude customer service. The chunkier barista there was very rude. I have never had a barista visibly sigh in front of me when I ask for an extra pump of caramel. Another time there she even glared at me and told me to stop flirting with her even though I was trying to make friendly conversation. I will happily just go to the Barnes and Noble down by the Arboretum next time strictly to ensure I never have to deal with her again. read more
