    Tacos and Barbacoa quesadilla
    GeGe T.

The Barbacoa quesadilla was good. The tacos were OK. they give you a nice portion of meat, but it's not tacos that I would go out the way for. The servers are nice, but not as attentive as I would like during non-busy hours. I had to ask for Water three times during my service and my cup was empty for a while before I asked. overall, it's a cool place to try though.

Dined-6.21.26: -Food-5 but had to knock a star for safety reasons. It's a cute restaurant antique building nestled in the middle of downtown homes. The issue was there are a couple dented warped floorboards on the way to the back room that tripped several people up (my aunt w/ a double knee surgery & myself included) but there's no heads up noted anywhere. Aside from the safety issue, the place is stocked with a variety of tequila and various delicious items on the menu. Everyone loved their food and enjoyed their cocktails & cafecito. Friendly servers. I had the breakfast burrito that comes with chorizo but I got al pastor with it. It was delicious and big enough I took 1/2 of it home. Their corn tortillas are so thick & tasty and taste homemade vs the processed ones you buy at the store. There were no other left overs, so safe to say my table was pleased with their eats! It's street parking so get there early and it won't be too much of an issue. Looking forward to returning to try other items (or have the burrito again) lol.

Came here a few years ago and got a burrito and didn't think anything special. My boyfriend remained adamant this was one of the best Mexican restaurants in Phoenix. Returning and trying something new definitely made me understand the hype. Every taco I ordered was absolutely fantastic, special shoutout to the shrimp taco for being the best! Biscuits and gravy were a 10/10. Great atmosphere and downtown feel + great service. Definitely feels like a hidden gem right off Roosevelt.

We had an amazing brunch at Gallo Blanco and were impressed by every aspect of the experience. The venue, service, atmosphere, food, and drinks were all fantastic. The layout of the restaurant is really unique. There's a coffee bar on one end, a full bar on the other, and a mix of tables and booths in between. The walls are covered with artwork from local artists, and during our visit they were featuring Abe Zucca's work, which was absolutely stunning. There's also a patio with misters that help keep the outdoor seating comfortable even on warmer days. The drinks were surprisingly affordable compared to many other brunch spots around town. We ordered the Chelada (Tecate, house bloody mix, Tajín, and lime) and the Chilango (Tecate, Tajín, and lime), and both were refreshing and delicious. For appetizers, we tried the Envuelto, and it was incredible. The al pastor folded inside melted queso Chihuahua with pineapple, chile toreado, cebollita asada, and corn tortillas created an explosion of flavor. Easily one of the highlights of the meal. For our entrees, I ordered the biscuits and chorizo gravy with eggs over medium on top, while my wife had the Burrito del Mar. The chorizo gravy was absolutely to die for--rich, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by the eggs and biscuit. Every bite was fantastic. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we ordered the churros. The two freshly made churros arrived coated in cinnamon and sugar and were served with goat milk cajeta, chocolate fudge, and lechera for dipping. All three sauces were great, but the goat milk cajeta was easily my favorite. Service throughout the meal was fast, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. Parking is limited to street parking since there's no dedicated lot, but it's well worth the effort. Another bonus is that brunch is served until 4 PM, while the lunch and dinner menu is available all day. Gallo Blanco exceeded our expectations, and there are still so many menu items we'd love to try. We'll definitely be back.

This is a casual Mexican Restaurant with traditional, authentic food, with a nice artsy ambiance. Located in the historic Garfield District. We both had a burrito and shared chips and guacamole. The food was very good. Service was pretty good too. Staff could have been more friendly, but they were pleasant. Overall, we had a good experience.

Stopped by during my visit to Phoenix and had a great experience. We went on a Thursday evening and were warmly greeted and seated right away. The ambiance has a darker, moodier vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Drinks were really good, I ordered the El Dorado with tequila, mango, guava, lime, chile and chamoy. I had the shrimp burrito. The grilled shrimp was flavorful. Our group also shared the guacamole and chips, which was the highlight for me. The guacamole was rich and creamy, and the chips were warm and hard to stop eating. Parking was easy with plenty of street parking.

This is one of our favorite spots and we decided to celebrate our daughter's birthday here. We always Waymo because 1) I like their margaritas and 2) parking is tight The service is friendly and attentive- and they made sure our daughter felt special :). We had chips and salsa; I had pozole and a taco (pork is my favorite), my daughter had a huge torta and the guys had burritos- oh and pancakes - because who doesn't order a pancake with their burrito when it's brunch time. lol! Everything was tasty!! Margs were perfect (albeit small) and tasty. They did bring her a lime tart for her birthday dessert so she was a happy girl. We like the vibe here too.

We came in for breakfast, it was not busy at all. We got sat right away. Our waitress was okay. The customer service was def lacking. After she took our order and delivered the food not once did we see her again or had any follow up if we needed anything. The customer service def took away from a good experience. The food was okay too. I ordered the chilaquiles which reminds me more of a tostada with cheese, meat and salsa than chilaquiles. The elite was good, the pancake was okay.

My wife and I were blown away by this hole-in-the-wall spot in Roosevelt District. It was our first time here, and our server, Mini (not sure if I spelled that right) did such a fantastic job at making us feel right at home. She answered all of our questions, gave us great recommendations, and was extremely polite. We ordered the frijoles con queso, which was so flavorful (and a perfect appetizer), the New Mexican enchiladas, and the Bistec Tampequena. Everything was cooked to perfections. It didn't try too hard to be different. Gallo Blanco took traditional dishes and simply elevated them to perfection. We cannot wait to return again.

We picked this spot bc we have an Amex benefit. The hostess was super friendly and sat us right away. Our waitress was nice but forgot to refill our waters. The food came outright after the other which is great but we had a small table so it was tight. We got the monchito cocktail- my husband enjoyed the smokiness, I was hoping for more coconut flavor. The standout dish for me was the ceviche- the flavors were so good, although the amount of fish did seem little compared to the veggies and sauce. The guac was good and the accompanying salsas had a great spice. My shrimp and grits were ok- there was a smoky flavor that's not my favorite. They were able to put the chorizo on the side as I don't eat meat. My husband enjoyed his tampequena- he said it the steak was just right. It is served with tortillas so the dish is kind of like fajita style in that you build your own taco. The streets were busy with cars but we got lucky and found a spot easily!

My friends and I stopped by on a Thursday around 7pm. We were able to find parking right in front, checked in with the host, and were seated right away. We started with drinks and I ordered the Tamalindo, it was really good with the chamoy and Tajin rim! For food, we decided to share La Charola which came with fresh guacamole, pico de Gallo, two salsas, and chips. I ordered the al pastor burrito. It was good though I wish it had more meat. It's a good place to enjoy food and drinks with friends!

This was great! I like that they have breakfast offerings all day. My brother and I came and got a selection of food. We started with elote and ceviche which were fine. We split the heuvos rancheros and got our own tacos (I had the Del mar and carne asade tacos). We also split the tres leches cake. My favorites were the Del Mar taco, the heuvos, and the cake. I thought the Del Mar taco had more flavor than the carne asade. I guess I could've added the salsa I was drenching the chips with to the carne asada, but I just ate it straight with the lime. The ceviche was good, and the elote was ok. I'd definitely come back. Service was very friendly. We arrived early enough we didn't NEED a reservation, but I'd recommend it. It got busy by the time we left.

My sister introduced me to this place & I'm so glad she did. The food was delicious! & as a vegetarian I'm usually limited in options but they had a decent selection for breakfast & lunch--much appreciated! Their aguas taste fresh & rich, I don't even like agua de jamaica but let me tell you! I drank half my Mamas cup lol the horchata is rich in flavor & pretty sweet so keep that in mind. The restaurant itself is larger than it appears, lots of fun art & colors, full bar, limited parking FYI (street parking mostly.) Our server was kind enough to let us try/sample the aguas before committing to an entire glass. So thank you for that. Prices were decent for the quality of food. I ordered the vegetable burrito ($14-$18/plate) with beans & cheese. I was at first nervous the veggies were going to make the burrito soggy but nope. It was perfection. Compliments to the chef! & the salsas were bangin' too! My sister ordered a steak salad which she inhaled & the amount of meat served on her salad was worth every dollar, they did not hold back. Overall, I will definitely be back to try the chilequiles which I heard are also bomb. My only notes: -A little more cheese on my burrito but that's just me 'cause I love cheese. -& Perhaps a soyrizo option for the non-meat eaters. I promise, try it, you'd be surprised how tasty a soyrizo & egg come out, it's a close second!

I was happy about the little purse hooks on the table (iykyk). The outside area, not so much. It's on the corner of a strip mall, there was some etched graffiti on the outside windows, which made you aware of the area you were in. (That's the reason for the 1 star deduction.) The place is very small! So yes, you WILL want to make a reservation. We went around 3:30 on a Friday and I would say 3/4 of the tables had reserved signs on them starting at 5pm on up. The receptionist was constantly back and forth looking at them and moving them around to make space for walk-ins. I would skip bringing your kids here. I didn't use the restroom so idk if that was nice or not. The food was fantastic! And the portions were big. The price matched the portions and quality in our opinion. It's hard to find quality food that's worth the cost lately. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. And hubby ordered a Mexican coke, and the server brought him a frosty glass for it. Everyone around us looked like they were enjoying their food. Our server was great. He chatted with us for a while when we told him about seeing the place on IG. He was grateful for the customers. But admitted, it's caused an influx of people and the 'regulars' have become annoyed. Which is understandable. We'd definitely come back if we're in the area but probably not drive that far out of our way again.

There's something so cozy and welcoming about this spot that makes it feel familiar every time we walk through the door. One of my favorite things to order here is the chilaquiles. I usually switch up the meat depending on what I'm craving, and this visit I went with chorizo. The tortilla chips have that perfect balance of crisp edges and just enough sauce to soften them without turning soggy. The chorizo adds a savory, slightly smoky richness, while the toppings bring everything together with fresh, bright flavors. It's the kind of breakfast where every bite has a little crunch, a little spice, and plenty of flavor. I also love ordering a fresh orange juice alongside my coffee--it's become part of my usual routine here. There's something about fresh OJ with a comforting plate of chilaquiles that just makes breakfast feel extra special. I think I just found my new favorite Mexican restaurant!…read more The ambience here is charming. It's located in what looks like an old house, painted on the outside in a dark red paint. There are roses hanging from the ceiling, exposed brick, and colored lighting (would you notice more as the sun goes down). The wood ceilings really make this place special. There is a small bar in the corner. Don't forget to look up because there is a little door above with the guardian angel and children painted on it, and a couple of stained glass windows. From the minute we walked in, we were meeting with smiling faces. When you first walk in, you are inside the kitchen or at least right next to it. We started with a couple of drinks - a Corona and a Diablito, a sotol cocktail with lots of pureed mango. A basket of chips and a bowl of Green dip or brought to the table, and we were directed to the salsa bar back near the entrance. The salsa bar is fantastic, with several different kinds of salsa. We grabbed what tasted like a creamy tomatillo salsa, a pineapple salsa, a pico de gallo, and a creamy Serrano salsa. They were all so good that we couldn't say which was our favorite. I know that pineapple salsa just sent me over the moon! For an entree, hubby ordered a Sonoran burrito. He said the burrito was delicious, and kept pointing out how good the guacamole and side was. It wasn't especially big or small. I ordered the fajitas (steak and chicken combo) and the minute they came to the table sizzling, both my husband and I were surprised at how large this portion was. It was served with tortillas (you get your choice of corn or flour), black beans, and rice. The black beans were good - - I suppose they just tasted like black beans. I was surprised at how delicious the rice was because it's white and I expected it just to taste like white rice. But there was a creaminess to it and a flavor that I couldn't put my finger on but that I know was really yummy (butter, maybe? Cheese, maybe?? Idk). Good meat in my fajitas was super tender and the veggies were grilled just right. This was a really common really delicious meal. This place had been on my list for a long time and now that I finally been here, I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner. The food was fantastic, the prices super reasonable, and it's set in a cozy, romantic setting. This place is going to be on a regular rotation for us!
