The colors of the actual ice cream are beautiful, the egg waffles come in different flavors, and the toppings are aesthetic too (you can order rose petals!!!!)!!!! I ordered the almond pistachio ice cream with double chocolate egg waffle and chocolate drizzle and it was so delicious! I tried multiple flavors and all of them were amazing! At checkout, we were surprised that they're even doing a promotion for chinese new year where you get a random coupon in a red packet! I wound up getting the original waffle with matcha ice cream topped with rose petal. We also got the lavender tea latte (also perfect for the 'gram). The waffle itself was super crispy on the outside, but it was unfortunately not fluffy enough on the inside. The inside of the egg waffle was a bit too hollow for my liking. I probably wouldn't come back for the ice cream combo as it's kinda pricey, but I might swing by for egg puffs if I'm near that side of Berkeley and don't feel like walking elsewhere. OH MY I think I'm in love. This here is a quaint little dessert shop on the busy street of Downtown Berkeley. It can be quite easy to miss since it's a small storefront. Even so, it's a gem for anyone with a sweet tooth! They have a decent variety of flavors that include coffee, green tea, black sesame, red bean, pistachio almond, etc. They also have egg waffles that you can eat alone or as your ice cream cone. I decided to go with a combo of the classic flavored egg waffles with green tea ice cream topped with rose petals. The egg waffles had a perfect crispy yet chewy texture that made it a good substitute for ice cream cones. The green tea with rose petals topping gave the ice cream not just a refreshing aesthetic, but a nice hint of floral taste. I'm a huge fan of floral flavored things so really enjoyed it. This thing is huge! I shared a churro waffle cone with cookies and cream and maple walnut ice cream topped with oreo crumbs and whipped cream. I was hoping the whipped cream was going to be house made, but it was from a can. So that was kinda disappointing. The maple walnut ice cream went really well with the churro waffle. The cookies and cream got kinda lost in the churro flavor. I want to try the original waffle cone next time so it'll balance the ice cream. Gadani is one of the newer dessert spots and reminds me of recent social media trends - aesthetically pleasing, Instagrammable food, but of mediocre quality. I ordered the Combo ($7.85,) which is composed of a waffle, ice cream, and topping of choice. There were many ice cream choices that weren't listed on the menu, and we were welcomed to sample the various flavors. In the end, I chose the matcha waffle with black sesame ice cream and rose petal topping. Funnily, I asked the cashier what the rose petal topping tasted like, and she told me it had no taste and only served the purpose of making the dessert look better. I decided to try the rose petal topping anyway! Overall the dessert was underwhelming. The waffle was rubbery in texture and unappetizing. The black sesame ice cream was yummy, and the rose petals were just there. It was definitely overpriced at $7.85 considering the quality. Also, the interior here is small - there is only a bench to sit on and a small table (right below the grassy "Gadani.") I love egg waffles. I love ice cream. I love rose flavored things. That being said I was super excited to try out Gadani. I will definitely say it was delicious. I ordered the chocolate strawberry egg waffle, vanilla bean gelato, with condensed milk and rose petal toppings. I LOVED the rose petal+ vanilla combo. I absolutely love rose flavored things and I really enjoyed this flavor in ice cream form. My only real complaint is the egg waffles weren't really full, like the waffle iron wasn't really full so the waffle was a little on the flat side. That's a bit of a bummer, but the ice cream and rose combo is so good I would come back for that alone. This review is not regarding the food, I had the waffle ice cream option and it was absolutely delicious. This review is for something else I noticed that makes me never want to go back: The owners have a small (adorable) puppy who roams around the store. The puppy is still being potty trained, and when I was there, the puppy not only peed all over the floor, but also pooped twice on the floor. The owners didn't even notice the pee and poop because they were busy making my and other customer's desserts, so I had to tell them that their dog made its business on the floor. They did not immediately clean it up, but waited after they were done making the dessert, so the smell of dog poop quickly filled the air and I quickly lost my appetite. When one of the owners finally cleaned up the dog pee and poo, I noticed she only picked it up with a tissue and did not take health cautions into consideration by properly sanitizing and disinfecting the areas where the dog peed and pooped. I can only image a child who drops a piece of food on the floor and perhaps eats it, and the floor was not properly cleaned right away. Lastly, I have no idea if the owners washed their hands thoroughly after cleaning up but I sure hope they did, as bacteria spreads through dog feces. Even though the dessert was delicious, I don't think I will be returning because of this. read more

Great spot for late night dessert or unique coffee drinks. I came here after having dinner nearby the other day. The shop itself is decorated really nicely. Keep in mind though- there is limited seating indoors and outdoors, so it may not be great for larger groups. I ordered a hot Lavender Latte with 25% sweetness. The barista was friendly and eager to make my drink the way I wanted. There are several non-dairy milk options for drinks. I appreciated that the barista asked the level of sweetness I wanted, as some lavender lattes at other places can be loaded with sugar and end up awful. This was one of the best ones I've had! The only reason I took off one star is because they didn't have any non-dairy ice cream options -- a bummer for lactose intolerant people like me. I made the trip here from El Cerrito expecting delicious egg puffs. Hongkong snack house near me has good waffles and eggs puffs but I wanted to try different flavors. I ordered the combo: an iced jasmine milk tea and a churro egg puff. The milk tea was light and tasted thin - ice cubes were big and rectangular like from a home ice tray, not commercial ice - they stir, not shake, to cool down the drink which probably what made it thin. The egg puffs were not full and I think the waffle maker was on the hotter side (it was crispy on the outside but like a moist pancake in the middle but was only half filled (see pic).... I think it needs something wet to hold the sugar cinnamon coating. I'll update the star rating if it improves. It might've been an off night with all the rave reviews. read more

I'm not sure what brand they use for their ice cream selection but I can attest to how good they are. You have your standard affair with flavors like vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate as well as the occasional oddball. In the case of my visit, they had ginger on hand. However, what I do want to rave about is their waffle that they serve. I opted for the matcha waffle and boy was that a great decision. Each little bubble was just pillows of fluffy and chewy deliciousness. The matcha flavor wasn't like a smack in the face but there was enough of the taste to linger on your taste buds. Although the whole waffle and ice cream experience is a tad expensive, I'd still recommend swinging by and picking it up to satisfy your sweet tooth as one combo is more than enough for two people. I frikkin love this place! My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new place in the area for dessert. Yelp helped us pick this place and I'm glad! I love the aesthetics and vibe of this place. It's very tiny with only three seating inside, right in front of the window, which is perfect. There's also some seating right outside as well. The place sort of reminds you of a coffee spot in the streets of Paris (: There's not A LOT of ice cream flavors here, there's only about 10, and they're all pretty different flavors not the basic ones. Feel free to sample them! I chose the vanilla bean ice cream with the basic egg puff flavor and my boyfriend got cookies and cream ice cream with chocolate egg puff flavor, both with chocolate syrup on top. They were both really good! The egg puffs were dense enough and some bites were crunchy! I don't get egg puffs much, but this place made me love them! What we both got were great, don't know about any other flavors. The size of the whole thing is good for one person only. It's not gigantic and it's not small, which is good. The worker was super nice guiding us on how to order since it was our first time. Place is very clean and they serve complimentary cold water. I went on a day where it was EXTREMELY hot so ice cream sounded like the perfect treat. Although I felt like it was overpriced, I enjoyed my egg puff waffle with ice cream. I sampled a few flavors and really liked the coconut and blueberry so I got a scoop of each inside the classic egg puff waffle (other waffle flavors include matcha, chocolate, etc). I topped it with dried rose petals and they were the perfect touch. Not only were they pretty to look at, but they also tasted great and complemented the ice cream and waffle wonderfully. The waffle was cooked to perfection and it wasn't too dense or chewy. It also didn't get too soggy even after 30 min. However, the service was lacking. The girl behind the counter was on her phone when I walked in and also after I ordered. She also didn't have any recommendations when I asked her, which is never a good sign.. you can at least make something up. There's also no place to sit inside. There are 3 stools at the window but it's very cramped so you can't really sit if someone else is there. It's also not a great place to study and there's no air conditioning, but the ambiance is nice and hip. Overall, I'd recommend Gadani but I'd probably share a waffle next time because it's rather expensive (~$10) and the size is pretty big for just one person. read more

The workers are pretty friendly. They ran out of the pretty dried flowers as an ice cream topping. We got the matcha egg puff with rose and matcha ice cream. We also ordered the matcha latte which is on the bitter side. Everything was good. The egg puff was crispy on the outside and also soft inside and went well with the ice cream.
