"iScream" ice cream is Fourth Street's only dedicated ice cream place. It has a prime location just north of Hearst Ave, but it's entrance is away from the sidewalk. There's plenty of tables outside lining the path to the door. I was there on a Wednesday around 5pm. A line is normal at iScream, so I got behind 2 people. There was only one hardworking young lady behind the counter, so we had to wait a bit. I don't know what they were baking in the backroom, but the sweet aroma was just captivating. I asked for a scoop of Dark Chocolate in a cup. The "tap to pay" system made the transaction quick and simple. The ice cream was rich, creamy, with a bitter aftertaste. Very good! This is a fun little place on 4th Street. Delicious ice cream! Unfortunately only one staff member with a big line, she said her coworker called out sick. She was such a trooper, scooping orders but also making waffle cones simultaneously. We were very appreciative of her good attitude! Passed by while taking a walk down Fourth Street and decided to get some ice cream. I got a scoop of crème brûlée and my boyfriend got a scoop of dark chocolate. The ice cream is so rich and delicious. The crème brûlée ice cream actually tastes like crème brûlée. I am so glad iScream took over this spot. They have freshly made waffle cones, about ten changing flavor options, ranging from dark chocolate to marzipan to crème brûlée to strawberry, depending on the season. The ice cream is small batch and consistently has a good texture. They usually have two vegan options as well. (Note: lemon sorbet tasted too much like cleaning spray.) They also have ice cream cakes that we order every year for birthdays, house made ice cream sandwiches, and coffee. This is a smaller location than the one on Solano, without much more than a small counter for seating, but the outdoor seating area is nice and off the sidewalk of Fourth Street. On sunny weekends, even in the winter, there is often a line, but it moves along due to the limited menu options (I see this as a plus). read more

Happy that there is another iScream! location! There is one on solano fyi. The flavors are different for each location so be sure to look online to see what is available. This is a small location but there are plenty of flavors offered as well as other ice cream based goods like ice cream cake. The entire store smells like fresh made waffle cone which is what led to me getting a waffle cone! Ended up getting the cassis (black currant), creme brulee, and the dark chocolate. All three I highly recommend! The creme brulee has a strong caramel flavor and oh so creamy. The chocolate is a solid chocolate flavor without it being overwhelmingly sweet. One in the waffle cone with passion fruit and vanilla bean and the other one in a cup with coffee and cream brûlée flavor. All the flavors were so yummy and the texture was so creamy. I'm pretty sure the guy was counting down the seconds to go home, but he was super chill and patient even after the doors should've been locked. Plus, their cakes look *next-level* amazing! I have not been to this location ever since it used to be Noble Cow Creamery. Fortunately, iScream is so much better! They don't offer a great number of flavor options, however the flavors they do serve are very intriguing! They had a banana oreo flavor that seemed very interesting and I'll definitely try it next time if available. The consistency of the ice cream was very similar to gelato which I appreciate so much. Two scoops of ice cream was the perfect amount for me without feeling overwhelmed (with two scoops, you are able to choose two flavors). While the service was friendly and helpful during my visit, in my opinion the mint chip ice cream flavor was a problem. To start with, it wasn't fully frozen and had a sporadic icicle crunch - odd for freshly scooped ice cream. My scoop also had a sharp chemical taste to it that made me think the flavor was achieved by adding in spearmint extract and not by soaking the milk in mint leaves. Once eaten with the accompanying waffle cone the chemical taste of the ice cream became overpowering. If too much extract were added in (which is what I think happened here), the higher content of the alcohol in the extract would lower the freezing point of the dessert, resulting in a more liquid batch accompanied by an icicle rich texture. iScream is a small business that carries only a few flavors so I'm surprised it wasn't caught when they had trouble keeping the batch frozen and it wasn't discovered during taste testing and pulled. Either way, I just don't think the iScream brand is for me and I'll probably be sticking with my local Handels and Gio Gelati. read more

At least the day I went flavors were on the plain side: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, cookies & cream and mint chip. Put some chocolate chunks in that strawberry, or real pops of blueberries in the blueberry; give me something a little sexy. I also love me a cone, but they only offer a rather large waffle one, which is a meal in itself. I would have loved a small sugar or wafer cone to keep it a bit more manageable. My Husky was destroyed that Peet's was out of whipped cream when I took her with me to get my green tea. They recommended I scream. We went straight there and waited in line--well worth the wait. The woman was so kind and gave my girl a lovely scoop of whipped cream. I bought a double chocolate, walnut brownie for my husband, which he devoured. I stopped by the 4th St shops and was surprised to find that iScream has moved here, their 2nd shop when I last reviewed it had been at Shattuck but they must have moved again. I saw they currently have crème brûlée, blackberry, and seriously dark chocolate. I appreciate that the worker was masked and was patient with the customers ahead of me, but but I wish they used gloves when handling the food - I saw them rolling the waffle cones with bare hands. Unfortunately, iScream only allows for one sample so I tried the blackberry, then decided to order a medium with blackberry and dark chocolate (for the tiny, you can only get 1 flavor). The blackberry was good and quite sweet, it had a stronger dairy taste than I expected since I usually expect blackberry to be more acidic and sorbet-like so I liked the rich dairy. The dark chocolate was very chocolatey but not as bitter as I expected. I think it could've standed to have more of the bitter cocoa flavor, because it really just tasted like chocolate to me - still good, just not as dark as the "seriously dark" made me expect. We spontaneously stopped by here while shopping in the fourth street area; could not resist ice cream on a hot summer afternoon! We got two scoops in a cup: the Equator Coffee and Cookies and Cream. Both were not overly creamy or sweet, and had a buttery smooth texture that glided effortlessly down my mouth. The Equator Coffee tasted like real brewed coffee latte, none of that artificial or fake-tasting coffee ice cream from the grocery store. The cookies and cream had big chunks of scrumptious cookies majestically intertwined and married into swirls of vanilla ice cream -- so delicious! The worker who helped us was very nice as well, asking us if we wanted two samples and an extra spoon and waffle piece when she noticed we were going to share a cup. We also sampled the grapefruit sorbet, which tasted like real grapefruit and is a unique flavor that you don't come by often.
