Stopped by Cream after walking around and tried the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. It was really good. It was creamy, not too sweet, and the strawberry flavor came through nicely. Simple, solid dessert spot.

Ice Cream Sandwich with Chocolate Chips Cookies and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Growing up in the Bay, Cream was one of my favorites through the mid-2010s, so I decided to drop in again today. I ordered my go-to--mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate chip cookies--and wow, I remembered why I used to love this place! The cookies were incredible, honestly some of the best I've ever had. Service was great! The only reason for the 4 stars is that the ice cream had a slightly granular texture, which took away from the sandwich. Still, I'll definitely be dropping by again soon!

Oh my gosh, the nostalgia! CREAM opened in Berkeley in 2010, when I was in elementary school. I have so many fond memories of growing up and coming here with my friends and family. As a kid, this was the best place to be--ice cream and cookies all in one. As an adult now, the desire is much less and I haven't stepped foot in quite some time. After dinner with my family, dessert was on our minds so I suggested CREAM! We came on a weekday and it wasn't busy. I've noticed depending on the time and day wait times can vary. The shop is humble and small, with enough space to stand but no areas to sit. Inside you can see all the ice cream and cookie flavors plus the menu of various dessert concoctions. My family did the ordering and the service was speedy. Unfortunately, I don't have dairy anymore but thankfully CREAM has vegan (and gluten-free) options! I ended up getting a scoop of the Soy Mint Chip. Honestly, this wasn't good. It was super duper minty, like the artificial mint taste. Mint and chip is my favorite ice cream flavor but I could barely handle theirs. The consistency was quite chalky and icy as well, which is disappointing as many dairy-free ice creams can still be rich and creamy. I also got a White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie. This was so sweet and sugary, I couldn't eat it all. I feel like the sugar and sweetness levels have gone up here and the quality down. I'm torn because CREAM is such an iconic spot but it isn't what it used to be. If you go to Cal it's worth a visit once but not a place I'd go out of my way for! Regardless, it's a staple and easy to find on the corner of Telegraph Ave. Parking is street or in nearby garages.

After a wonderful day out with my family, my daughter suggested going to cream as we have done in the past because we can trust finest ingredients. Best flavors, and I put my ice cream between a couple warm cookies oh my gosh. They have a great selection of flavors and a big selection of cookies and I would suggest this Berkeley location to enjoy something sweet on any day hot or cold.

Parking is definitely going to be a challenge. We got vanilla ice cream and brownie shake. We loved both and customer service was good. Place was organized.

The birthday cake cookie was amazing. So many sprinkles and it was nice and warm. Didn't feel like having ice cream but tried a sample and it tasted good too. Would go back

I haven't been here in a while. It was still good. I think they raised the prices a little bit, but I'd come back. Server was nice. Change her gloves after using cash register I appreciate that.

Employees looked like college kids, which makes sense. They were nice enough. Probably ready to go home. I ordered an ice cream sandwich, as one does here. The cookies were hard, and the ice cream was super soft. So every time you take a bite, the ice cream squishes out. The churro ice cream is delightful. But I would probably just order it on its own next time. Shop is cute, I honestly don't remember if there was anywhere to sit. But we just got our order to go anyway. I might return. But won't go out of my way to do so.

The sweet treat spot. First impressions: limited seating inside, but not super busy when I went on a Wednesday at 5pm. I got a single scoop of Banana Walnut Fudge, and it was pretty good! Definitely sweet...I think a single scoop was just enough to not leave me feeling icky after consuming too much sugar, but two scoops probably would've done it. I really enjoyed the flavor though - didn't have that artificial banana flavor, more like banana bread plus some fudge and walnut chunks. I had a gift card for CREAM, so I used it here with no issue. But I do remember it being pretty pricey...around $5-6 for one scoop if I remember correctly. If I didn't have a gift card, not sure I would stop by. I typically don't frequent sweet-tooth-sugar dessert spots other than rare occasions, and I think CREAM is that type of place for me.

I love CREAM! Whenever im in the mood for ice cream, this is my go to. I usually opt for a double scoop and get the birthday cake flavor + something else. This time I did birthday cake and cookies n cream. The ice cream is very creamy and flavorful. I enjoy the mix ins in both of these flavors, especially the sprinkles in the birthday cake flavor. There isn't usually a line (unless it's a hot day) but regardless, you can get through pretty quickly. The inside of the shop is pretty cozy, but they do offer a few seats. I highly recommend checking it out!

I first started coming to this location almost 12 years ago as a freshman. Back then, the line would stretch down the block and an ice cream sandwich cost $2. Since then, there are more locations around the Bay Area and the price for the sandwich has tripled. I still enjoy getting their ice cream sandwiches whenever I'm in town. Coming back to CREAM always reminds me of those late nights when I'd stop by with my friends, or grab one to go on my way to the library. They have a large menu, but I always stick with the ice cream sandwich. The chocolate chip cookies are good. In my opinion, the ice cream is just okay. I recently tried the strawberry ice cream and it tasted a little icy. Overall, I recommend trying this spot at least once if you're in the area.

    Rachel M.

This was a favorite late night hangout many years ago with my friends - cookies and ice cream are some of my go-to desserts and thought it was a genius business idea. In the past, this place was super popular and lines were around the block. Currently, there are several locations around the bay, which helped with a better distribution of the fans and hopefully shorter lines! I would mix and match different cookie and ice cream flavors but some favorites were classic chocolate chip with vanilla or mint chocolate chip ice cream. The cookies were hit or miss with the baking consistency - sometimes they were warm/soft (how I liked them) but there were times when they were a bit over-baked and hard. Prices were decent but have since gotten more expensive. CREAM will always be a special place for me with nostalgic sweet memories!

Are there any sugar-free choices (cookies, ice cream, or (ideally) both)? My company is getting items from CREAM for a party this week, and I'm hoping there's something diabetic-friendly.

I don't think there is any sugar free at the moment they have low sugar with the dairy free options but that was it. You have to tell them ahead of time to make some of the cookies sugar free.

My good friend not only picked us up, but she and her husband got dinner too, so of course I had to get dessert! We were short on time, so I used DoorDash to place a pickup order and it was literally ready in like less than two minutes. I can't speak on the ambiance of the place as my partner was the one who ran out to go get our order. Mango Sorbet - one taste of this and I swear it was reminiscent of biting into an Alphonso mango (which I know is no longer in season). This is a total winner and for this flavor alone, I would absolutely come back. Pistachio Gelato - this was pretty creamy and the crushed pistachio pieces actually tasted like it had been fresh and roasted. I'm glad it retained it's flavor and texture despite being swirled into a gelato. My partner commented that it was good seeing a pistachio frozen dessert in its natural color and not with the artificial green food coloring. This turned out to be a perfect purchase because my friend who lives in Berkeley surprisingly had not tried this place yet! I knocked off a star because the pints did not have the flavors labeled which I thought was rather strange. We were all impressed by both gelato flavors, but the mango sorbet was very clearly the fan favorite. It's nice to know this shop is opened daily (Monday to Thursday from 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM and Friday to Sunday from 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM) especially with school back in session.

Gadani was highly rated, nuff said. It's got a nice interior, but most shops these days do. First thoughts are they are running a Fanloli in there, lots of cutesy stuff for sale, not common for coffeeshops, but I was excited for a banana mocha latte or honestly whatever that has banana in it, I'm all for that but it was sold out, big bummer. Second thoughts are I hate the kiosk ordering, I had to dig around for that disappointing news, tbh I feel like this kiosk nonsense just means whoever is back there gets more time doom scrolling but call me out for not loving the end of human interactions. Third thought was this is taking awhile, took about 10 minutes to get a milk tea which is a little crazy when no one else is there. Case in point for second thought because anywhere else it would half the time, are they making bead necklaces into the back? Fourth thought was when my wife said her milk tea tasted like water, which I tried and said yep it does, then she asked me if mine was bad, because I had the same order only hot, which I said, "yes it does taste like water, how did you know," to which we both say collectively, "fucking Berkeley." Normally id leave it there, but then I realized that the cup was spilling on me constantly and it actually wasn't me, the top wouldnt close so I was spilling the milk tea flavored water all over my sweater because their cups don't close properly. Listen, it wasn't a nice sweater but comon, insult to injury in a time of failure, people come to places like this to get a night cap, especially in a world where nobody young drinks. How the hell is this top of the mark, is it the ice cream? If it's the ice cream, I'm glad, because otherwise I think y'all are crazy. All that and parking was $20 bucks. The only issue is there's no clear menu posted online, so we walked in completely blind. Their website shows a long list of flavors but not what they actually have that day, so it felt like a guessing game. The line moved really slow because there was only one employee handling everything. She was taking orders, giving samples, answering questions, and ringing people up all at once. She was super friendly and doing her best, but it felt like a lot for one person during a rush and the shop could definitely use more help. The space is really small and tight so it was hard to even see the flavors until we got close to the front. When we finally got up there, a lot of the tubs were already empty which was confusing since most ice cream shops restock. Some flavors I wanted weren't available anymore, and if they're out it would make more sense to just remove them from display. The dirty containers didn't make sense to display. I sampled the jasmine green tea and knew right away I wanted it. It was creamy with a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overpowering. I got a small with half jasmine green tea and half avocado. The avocado was surprisingly really good, super creamy and tasted like a fresh avocado smoothie. Both flavors weren't overly sweet which I liked. My husband wanted cookies and cream but it was sold out so he got chocolate chip instead, which was solid and creamy with good texture. Overall the ice cream itself was good, not the best I've had but definitely not bad. I like that the flavors lean more natural and not overly sweet. I could see myself coming back if I'm in the area, but the experience would be a lot better with faster service and more consistency with what's actually available.

My go-to favorites from their menu are the strawberry funnel cake and cheesecake caramel apples. The mini size of the strawberry funnel cake ($8.50) is the perfect serving size for one. The funnel cake itself is crispy and fried to perfection, and the strawberries add a lovely freshness. The homemade whipped cream they pile on top is miles above canned whipped cream. Personally, I like to also add fruity pebbles as an extra topping for a nice crunch! The cheesecake caramel apples ($10.50) are dipped in a layer of caramel, then another layer of cheesecake flavored coating, and finished off with a graham cracker-like crumb coating. They are tart yet decadent, making them absolutely addictive. I appreciate too how they include an option for having the apple be cut up into slices when ordering.
