    Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream
    Britanee W.

Made it to Humphry Slocombe in Emeryville after dinner and it was worth the stop. I tried the Vietnamese Coffee ice cream, which was a unique flavor and a surprisingly great pick. I'm looking forward to trying it again. The staff were welcoming and the space was inviting.

Ordered a single scoop of the Matcha flavored ice cream which hit the spot. I'm not usually one to stop and grab a scoop here as it is pricey at almost $7 for a single but wanted to enjoy the end of our outing and watch the last minutes of the FIFA match between Columbia and Ghana. Service was great as I had to ask for 4 sample flavors before choosing the Matcha!

Always have a good experience at Humphry's! Hong Kong Milk tea, Black Fog, Honey graham on a waffle are some favorites. Cute artsy interior with some tables. Dude who worked there was super nice and gave me a few extra stamps on my card!

We stopped by for some ice cream after the movie. The staff was very friendly, and there was a great selection of flavors to choose from!

I haven't had Humphry Slocombe in years so I was excited to see a location when we were in Emeryville. They're located upstairs near Barnes and Noble by the other eateries. I loved all their unique flavors! Secret Breakfast is a must, you can't get that flavor anywhere else. I do wish they would include the flavor descriptions on the names because some of the names aren't super descriptive to the flavor itself. I also tried Matcha Strawberry but it was actually disappointing. Pretty color but the matcha flavor was non existent. Otherwise it's a nice specialty ice cream shop to try some unique flavors (I should've tried the honeydew!).

It was my first time at Humphry, and it was an experience. I love good ice cream and unique flavors. Humphry reminds me of salt and straw. They have some fun flavors and taste great. The service was amazing, the person behind the counter was friendly and told us all the different flavor blends. The inside is a cozy ice cream store.

Yummy for my tummy, my daughter and I screamed for ice cream! Despite the chilly breeze, we stopped by to satisfy our sweet tooth ice cream cravings! Friendly and patient staff. I felt bad that there was only person working the counter, taking orders, making the orders and managing the register. He did a great job bouncing around tasks, even changing gloves after every transaction! The eating area was well kept and not sticky. They had limited flavors (we came late in the afternoon), but enough to please most.

It's been a few weeks and I'm still thinking about that scoop of Vietnamese ice cream coffee.. I really dnt like coffee ice cream but I love anything about Vietnamese ice coffee.. I didn't have high expectations for it at all.. I sampled two other flavors and made this bay last choice and it was more than I could have ever imagined.. the service was an amazing .. they who helped us was fast friendly efficient and had a lot of patience for our group.. the end of the night rush he did a great job of getn everyone in and out..my sister got a ice cream out the freezer so she was able to skip the line which is a good option and made the line move faster.. the smell of freshly made cones filled the store.. there was a lot of seating in the store but since this location is on bay st u have the option of sitting outside.. I'm ready for my next visit I wanna try the Vietnamese ice coffee with some of the burbon caramel.. and figure out whose birthday we can get an ice cream cake for.. definitely add this place to my list if go to ice cream shop..

After dinner, I enjoyed a much-needed treat: SF Fog sundae. After trying a few flavors, I was set on the SF Fog, because the black sesame ice cream is unmatched! It was somewhat sweet, nutty, earthy, and smoky all at once. These flavors were topped with a smooth marshmallow cream and bourbon caramel. Everything came together to create an epic dessert! Our cashier was warm, patient, and friendly. I'll definitely make sure to stop in during my next visit to Oakland.

I came in and sampled a bunch of flavors, as the employee who helped me was patient and friendly Yellow brick road - golden milk ice cream with sunflower granola. It's interesting since the turmeric of golden milk is definitely more an acquired taste but I find it more tolerable as an ice cream. Malted milk chocolate - tastes like malt balls, not particularly unique but it's one of the tamer flavors. Allura - coconut lime and passionfruit, I thought it was alright, more tropical. It's a collab with a cruise line. Pepper mint chip - I didn't like it, but it's not too spicy. I would've liked it better with black pepper instead and more chocolate. It's the goat (not sure if I got the name right) - the habanero part made it a little spicy. I thought it was okay. I decided to get a single scoop of the yellow brick road in a cup. I thought the flavors were strange on the whole. I keep wanting to like Humphry Slocombe but I still prefer other ice cream shops in the east bay like Miharu, Cookiebar, and I-Scream on Solano.

A local Bay Area ice cream spot with many locations around the bay. Looking for some dessert or ice cream while around Bay Street in Emeryville, this is the spot. Open fairly late with both indoor and outdoor seating. There popular flavors are their Vietnamese coffee and cereal type of flavor. They have unique flavors and lots of options. I like to get mine sometimes on a cone or to share with a cup. There's parking garage parking in the area. Service was great, the worker was very patient with our group as we sampled many flavors. We went with like a mint one and I forgot the other and got 2 scoops and shared it.

My first time trying Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream at the Bay Street location! I have been going to the Spark SF location for awhile since I'm in the city for Warriors. Location is on the 2nd floor, close to other restaurants, Bay street's food court level- there's stairs in the center but can take the escalator to the left side if you are walking past Tokyo Central as you exit the parking garage on the first level. I also love coffee flavors and this one was it! Loved it, subtle, not over powering, Vietnamese Coffee is really strong but Humphry did it right. You can have the option for Waffle cone that I got, sugar cone or cup, Also check out the seasonal items! I will be back!

Ice cream is pretty darn good. I love the unusual flavors. And the ice cream has a good texture. Today I got two scoops of something minty and one scoop of pumpkin. Service is always friendly. They let you try samples before buying. Clean comfortable dining area. All in all a good ice cream experience.

But, my boss orders us food from Fenton's via Doordash to be delivered to our Oakland office from time to time. Last several times in a row, it's been pretty dang bad, (the potato chips always taste fishy!) but today (8/5/26) it was literally garbage. We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. Sad.

The moment you walk into the shop, you'll notice the current flavor offerings displayed on colorful ice cream-shaped signs across the wall to the right. I could spend an eternity studying each flavor, but there's limited space to queue indoors so really gotta decide on a flavor and serving style fast in order to keep the line moving. Among the flavors were some classics, fruity/floral mixes, and dessert-inspired ones too, a whole range so there's something for everyone. I got the Breakfast Brownie and it was unforgettable! It tasted creamy and delightful without being overwhelming, while the cornflakes mixed inside added a satisfying crunch to each bite. I came back a second time before a show at Crybaby, a smaller venue across the street. Grabbing a scoop here to-go has naturally become part of my pre-concert routine at this point and I plan to come back again next time to explore more flavors. The only issue is there's no clear menu posted online, so we walked in completely blind. Their website shows a long list of flavors but not what they actually have that day, so it felt like a guessing game. The line moved really slow because there was only one employee handling everything. She was taking orders, giving samples, answering questions, and ringing people up all at once. She was super friendly and doing her best, but it felt like a lot for one person during a rush and the shop could definitely use more help. The space is really small and tight so it was hard to even see the flavors until we got close to the front. When we finally got up there, a lot of the tubs were already empty which was confusing since most ice cream shops restock. Some flavors I wanted weren't available anymore, and if they're out it would make more sense to just remove them from display. The dirty containers didn't make sense to display. I sampled the jasmine green tea and knew right away I wanted it. It was creamy with a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overpowering. I got a small with half jasmine green tea and half avocado. The avocado was surprisingly really good, super creamy and tasted like a fresh avocado smoothie. Both flavors weren't overly sweet which I liked. My husband wanted cookies and cream but it was sold out so he got chocolate chip instead, which was solid and creamy with good texture. Overall the ice cream itself was good, not the best I've had but definitely not bad. I like that the flavors lean more natural and not overly sweet. I could see myself coming back if I'm in the area, but the experience would be a lot better with faster service and more consistency with what's actually available.
