I met Sarah, who helped me order three trays of food. I asked if the items could be ready on Saturday by 8am. I called before arriving at 8:00am. Everything was ready and brought to my vehicle. I ordered six platters for my sister's 80th birthday party this past Saturday. They were not able to deliver, but when I had my niece and nephew drive from Alameda for pickup, they were met by very friendly, efficient people who helped them load up the car. They even gave them some free samples, to which my nephew said, "If I wasn't getting on a plane tomorrow, I would definitely have ordered something! So good!" I recently attended a conference at UC Berkeley, and they featured breakfast both days and lunch the second day catered by Ann's Catering. It was all so good! I've never had such tasty food at a conference event before, much less food brought in by a catering company (rather than prepared by the on premises dining services)! And looking at the current menus offered by Ann's Catering, it also looked like their pricing was extremely reasonable and competitive too! I especially enjoyed the fresh focaccia bread on the lunch sandwiches, and the quinoa and wild rice salad was a revelation. I originally only took one small scoop, and only because it looked healthy. But then I went back for seconds and took leftovers home because it was so darn tasty! And the chicken satay and beef teriyaki sticks were also really delicious and tender! We had more than enough food for everyone to be well-fed, but there weren't many leftovers either, which I think is a testament to how tasty everything was. I wasn't able to attend family Thanksgiving this year, so I decided on a whim to try Ann's Thanksgiving single entree meal, and I'm so glad I did! It had everything a perfect Thanksgiving meal should have (Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, veggies, and even pumpkin pie). For $55 I thought it was a great deal. My husband's company hosted a luncheon this week and I was fortunate enough to have an entire packaged meal delivered to me - what a sweet hubby. I was given the #21 - a Vietnamese Style Grilled Tofu flavored with vegan mayo, pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro sprigs and jalapeños served on a baguette. Accompanying the sandwich was a pasta salad seasoned brilliantly and finished with a vinaigrette and a chocolate chip cookie. Each item was separately packaged, wrapped carefully and contained within the same compostable box. In fairness I devoured the tofu sandwich the following day, following an overnight stay in our refrigerator. With that noted, the baguette was soft with a bit of crunch - perfect as if it were freshly made at that moment. The pasta salad was firm and seasoned appropriately, not too heavy or delicate. I typically do not stop midway to compose a review but for this I had to. I wanted everything fresh in my mind and on my taste buds to share. While you can't go wrong with any of their high quality options, some of my favorites are the soba noodle salad, tofu, mini fried chicken biscuits, spring rolls, portobello skewers, mini loaded potatoes, and steak with chimichurri sauce. They don't deliver but offer pickup at designated times of the day. Prices aren't cheap but you can taste, see, and smell the quality. Needless to say that I highly recommend Ann's Catering. I work at a Grad School and we were doing catered lunches for each cohort. This entailed finding somewhere that did individually packaged lunches that were gluten free and vegan inclusive. Ann's has gone above and beyond to ensure we got exactly what we asked for. The food is fresh, delicious, high quality and made with care. They even label everything individually! Let me tell you that bread on those sandwiches was SO tasty. I'm not even vegan but the Vietnamese style grilled tofu sandwich was my favorite! Sarah and Tony took amazing care of us. Never had I have so many people rave about catered food before. A 10-year-old even came up to me and said: "This is the best party food I've ever had!" Ann's Catering was clearly a crowd pleaser. This review is slightly overdue. Ann's Catering provided the refreshment (appetizers) and beverage (hot and cold) for my sister's retirement party held last month at Haviland Hall on the U.C. Berkeley Campus. Presentation of the platters of assorted appetizers and fresh fruit was very appealing and tasty. I enjoyed their stuffed mini potatoes, tea sandwiches and fresh fruit platter, except the lemonade was just a tad too sweet. I did not see any iced tea to balance the sweetness of the lemonade (darn, could not fix an Arnie Palmer). The appetizers were delish that when I went back for seconds, there were none left. Since I loved those stuffed potatoes very much, I will be visiting Ann Catering's in the future. read more

I do a lot of event planning and meeting catering for work and aside from their delicious food, they're easily one of the most professional and responsive caterers I have ever worked with. While Ann's usually puts me above my per person budget due to their set platter sizes, their prices are relatively affordable for the quality. All of their food is intended to be served either room temperature or chilled, which takes the worry away from food getting cold while guests arrive. Their presentation is simple and pleasant, with most items ready to serve on sturdy white platters. Dishes with dips sometimes come in bell pepper bowls, which is a nice touch. The quinoa cakes with red pepper aioli are my favorite appetizer that I've tried. Other things I've ordered include the turkey, portobello and brie, and steak foccacia sandwiches, garden tortellini salad, phyllo pastry triangles, and salad, and everything has been tasty. I've been eyeing their fried chicken biscuit sandwiches, which seem popular. I really wish they didn't charge extra for utensils and serving spoons, but if budget is an issue, you can of course easily purchase this on your own. Other than that, Ann's is a great option for both catering a meeting at work or a private party with family and friends. Delivery is available to select East Bay cities and you can also pick-up. They have an extensive menu that is almost overwhelming, but it allows for you to cater to whatever theme you're going for. Ann's is a pleasure to work with and their food never disappoints. Ordered about 12 plates consisting of hors d'oeuvres, spring rolls, chicken and pork kababs, black rice, chicken wings, Fried MUSHROOMS and other tasty dishes. Due to my boss getting Ann's catering for a lunch meeting, I finally got the chance to try their (her?!) amazing food! If there is ONE thing you absolutely have to get, it's the fried chicken biscuit platter. They are mini sized sliders of fried chicken inside, with perfectly cooked biscuits as the bun. Delicious. The basil pesto can be smeared on anything to taste amazing. The sweet potato shrimp cakes are phenomenal. The fried chicken wontons, be warned. You may just each one too many because their very flavorful and delicious. Key lime pie bar, just right amount of sweet and tart. Cookie like base, great. I know having leftovers to eat sucks, but Ann's leftovers are a blessing. Recently catering through Ann's Catering (from Rick & Ann's restaurant) was an amazing and easy process. I know some people might be turned off by the e-mail only contact, but it was so smooth and took a day to get my order in and prepared. Our order included - Kale, Apple and Fennel Slaw - Grilled Asparagus - Charred Corn Salad - Orzo with Roasted Vegetables Salad - Red Quinoa & Black Bean Salad - Hawaiian Style Tuna Poke Evidentally, this was a healthy party of 50. The poke from Ann's is usually the first thing to go, but should be served cold and quick, because those who had it room temperature were not a fan. I personally fell in love with the orzo and have been craving it since. The asparagus was also cooked perfectly - which most places don't do.
