I absolutely love this place! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They have a few different options but honestly they were all great. I am not normally a fan of chocolate but even their chocolate custard was amazing. Some flavors did seem either seasonal or changed out weekly but either way you will not be disappointed. The establishment is on the smaller side, more of a grab and go situation and parking is limited, I parked down the street.

Street parking is difficult but a parking garage is next door. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a tiny little ice cream shop on the corner with no tables, grab and go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A theatre is next door and across the street. I went on a busy night, I could see several people waiting and a long line to get into the parking garage. She asked if I wanted to sample when I arrived and of course I love tiramisu custard so I tried and decided to make it a brownie tiramisu sundae. This hit the spot after dinner. I would like to try the malt next time when I'm in the area.

First time at Lexie's Frozen Custard. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small hole in the wall. No seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Order and go kind of place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Really liked the custard flavors for chocolate/vanilla. The toffee bits were good. The chocolate sauce was great. Not too sweet but complimented the sundae. Street parking

Stumbled upon this place after a concert that was down the street at the theatre. The place was packed with many inside and walking out. We got two sundaes that were a decent portion. Not sure what frozen custard is but it was so delicious! The banana caramel was not overly sweet and the cashier let me know it was a personal favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was accessible for handicap but extremely small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very packed it was uncomfortable to wait inside packed with everyone, so I sat outside and waited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall it was delicious, I would come again and try more flavors! Service was super kind & helpful.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will unfortunately have to take a point off for ambiance, but if I could do 4.5 I would!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Mini sundae-size is an excellent idea, great serving size for me to try a scoop w all the fix-ins. Cool flavors, nice toppings, environmentally conscious, what else do you need!?

Who doesn't like frozen custard? If you know someone who doesn't, we probably can't be friends. I really like the different options from affogato to floats here. It's the kind of shop I want to frequent often. I'm a huge fan of coffee so their coffee coffee really appealled to me, and it was exactly the 5 stars you would expect. Great coffee flavor with bits of coffee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly staff, free water, a table outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We need this in every city!

Saw this last time we were here in October for a show of course and had to stop by before heading back to the city. The staff were friendly when we got in and there was no one behind us so we were able to take our time looking at the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There isn't a place for you to sit inside but a small table outside with two chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My bf got the Affogato: Scoop of custard drowned in an espresso shot for $6.25 and I got the Speculoos Mini Sundae: vanilla frozen custard, cookie butter sauce, Biscoff cookies with whipped cream and a natural cherry for $7. They started off as a food truck from 2013-2020 before this location opened in 2022. Frozen custard is super dense and smooth soft serve ice cream made with milk, cream, sugar, and egg yolk just like other premium ice creams. They make their custard base and almost every topping from scratch. The frozen custard is made fresh daily in small batches and recommended to eat fresh for the best texture. With the use of local and organic ingredients, compostable cups and spoons, and are proud to be in a green building.

The least creamy and rich custard I have ever had. With that out of the way you may be wondering why it's still 4 stars. I'm not a huge ice cream fan. But the flavors are so good. I'm crazy for anything plum and the plum crumble is fantastic. Packaging of the pints to go is also excellent. They put them in a freezer bag with a little ice pack on them. If you want a rich creamy texture you are likely going to be disappointed. If you want something more like a gelato this is it.

was next door for a show and wanted a sweet treat. really loved this mini sundae. It was the perfect amount of soft serve and wasn't too overwhelming. They have all their flavors and menu posted inside, so we were able to take our time to decide what we wanted to order.

Sometimes you need some sweet indulgence before a theater matinee. Jamie W and I were a bit early for a performance at Berkeley Rep. Now I suppose we could've used the time to exercise like dropping down and doing fifty push-ups. But that seemed unlikely since I can barely do one. Or we could come here and see what frozen custard will contribute to our lives. Gee, tough decision. They serve the frozen custard in various delectable forms. Either by scoop in various flavors, or in sundaes with complimentary ingredients, or under the catch-all category of specialties like affogato, pie slices, and root beer floats. We decided to share the $9 Regular Peanut Butter Oreo Sundae with a base of creamy chocolate frozen custard topped with a thick, ropey peanut butter sauce, whipped cream, Oreo crumbles, and a pair of black cherries (Photo 9). Quite the yum and not overly sweet. Good decision. FOOD - 5 stars...tasty frozen custard that doesn't overwhelm your sweet tooth [[HIGHLIGHT]]AMBIANCE - 4 stars...compact spot with seating outside[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] SERVICE - 4.5 stars...very friendly and helpful TOTAL - 5 stars...a shareable treat quite unlike froyo shops RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Located at 2010 Addison St, to the right of Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, a small custard shop lives - Lexie's. It specializes in a small menu of classic flavors - chocolate and vanilla along with the flavor of the day - thin mint (on our visit) and a seasonal vegan sorbet - guava. There are seasonal sundae options available, which I partook in. All options are fresh, organic and house made. The flavors can be enjoyed simply in a cup or cone as a scoop or as a specialty item ranging from a concentrate, to sundae option, affogato or shake to a kids classic - dirt & worm sundae, which my daughter enjoyed. Don't forget to ask your little one if they would like a cup or cone. Cones cost and many parents were circling back to pay the difference since their kid saw a kid with a cone - this means another wait in line to do so. For the Kids Dirt & Worm Sundae, my little one picked Thin Mint as her custard flavor, which was layered with crushed/ground cookies and organic gummy worms. For $4.50 it's a yummy indulgence to create memories with. For the Concrete ($9), I opted for the Brownie Sundae which is chocolate custard, house made brownie chunks and chocolate fudge sauce all blended together and topped with whip cream (optional). The flavor was well balanced and the brownie bits were so plentiful I left a few behind to discard. I really enjoyed! The flavors were not too sweet, delectable and tasted of fresh, quality ingredients. Inside, near the register, are options of toffee popcorn, cookies, fruit chews and caramel. There is a mini freezer housing pre packed pints and cookie ice cream sandwiches. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was well maintained and clean, it is also very quaint and intimate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is hard to distinguish between who is waiting on an order and who hasn't ordered - be kind and ask. Service can be slow due to one cashier and one preparer/server, based on the size of the shop it is understandable and the wait was well worth it - not horribly long with 3 families ahead of us. Following a Freight & Salvage performance (directly next door), Lexie's can get packed quickly. The staff was very friendly with smiles and patience, thank yous and assistance with add on options to assist with orders. Apple Pay, cash and cards are accepted. The shop is accessible by BART from the Downtown Berkeley stop, by car with street and garage parking options or by foot if you are close by. Lexie's opens at 1PM Tue-Sat, closed Mondays, and closes between 9-11PM depending on the day. *For those with little ones or little bladders* ...there are public restrooms - traditional gender specific - to the left of the shop, open to the public (no key or code needed). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The women's restroom was well maintained and clean but lacked toilet seat covers and some stalls have no toilet paper.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The only issue is there's no clear menu posted online, so we walked in completely blind. Their website shows a long list of flavors but not what they actually have that day, so it felt like a guessing game. The line moved really slow because there was only one employee handling everything. She was taking orders, giving samples, answering questions, and ringing people up all at once. She was super friendly and doing her best, but it felt like a lot for one person during a rush and the shop could definitely use more help. The space is really small and tight so it was hard to even see the flavors until we got close to the front. When we finally got up there, a lot of the tubs were already empty which was confusing since most ice cream shops restock. Some flavors I wanted weren't available anymore, and if they're out it would make more sense to just remove them from display. The dirty containers didn't make sense to display. I sampled the jasmine green tea and knew right away I wanted it. It was creamy with a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overpowering. I got a small with half jasmine green tea and half avocado. The avocado was surprisingly really good, super creamy and tasted like a fresh avocado smoothie. Both flavors weren't overly sweet which I liked. My husband wanted cookies and cream but it was sold out so he got chocolate chip instead, which was solid and creamy with good texture. Overall the ice cream itself was good, not the best I've had but definitely not bad. I like that the flavors lean more natural and not overly sweet. I could see myself coming back if I'm in the area, but the experience would be a lot better with faster service and more consistency with what's actually available.

But, my boss orders us food from Fenton's via Doordash to be delivered to our Oakland office from time to time. Last several times in a row, it's been pretty dang bad, (the potato chips always taste fishy!) but today (8/5/26) it was literally garbage. We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. Sad.
