We went to G&P for 8 years. Our cars were old, we did not have a lot of money, but at least Armand (mechanic) did good work. During that time, Gary (owner) had also been OK. When the last car we took there needed repairs that were more than the car was worth, we considered the junkyard, but one of the other mechanics offered to buy the car for the same price as the junkyard would, but needed a day or 2 to get us cash. We agreed. Somehow Gary (owner) butted in on our deal the next day when we came to collect the money (Gary was not part of the deal). Gary stated they would pay $25 less than agreed, which was $25 less than the junkyard would. It was Gary waving the cash, not the young mechanic we'd agreed to sell the car to. When we protested, Gary said we could take the car, but they had already put the car in a non-running state in the diagnosis. Gary said to take the car or his lower "offer" right then, or he would charge a storage fee for the 2 days the car had been there. We didn't see the young mechanic. When my wife and I walked off to discuss it, an apparent friend of Gary's followed and attempted to overhear what we were discussing. We were backed into a corner, poor, and basically strong-armed into taking the lower offer because it would cost more to tow the car, and it would still be broken. We don't know what got into Gary. We'd been loyal customers for 8 years, had no previous problems, yet we were cheated. The mafia would be proud. $25 is not a lot, but to us at the time, it was not insignificant. A couple of weeks later we saw the car parked in front of G&P, apparently now repaired & used by the young mechanic who had originally agreed to buy the car. We never went back and no longer recommend this place. This place would more accurately be called G & Cheat. read more

If I could zero stars I would. I recently went for a timing cover gasket replacement and once it was finished I took it out for a drive to still see an oil leak. I took it back because they "warranty" their work but I was told that it was the oil pan gasket and that they could do it for an additional 400. I thought that was bs so I went to get it looked at by two other mechanics that said it was clearly the timing cover. Not only that but when the other mechanics showed me the pricing for a timing cover replacement it should have only costed 500, they charged 800. The place is a rip off women beware. I was in a bind and needed my A/C recharged. After $163 for a diagnosis. I was informed I need a compressor cost $900. I went to another repair shop and it was an easy fix just three seals was done in an hour passing the testing no leaks. I will never return to this shop they're crooks. I called and talked to the owner and explained what I needed done and went over that day and he looked at the car and we took it back the next morning for brake work. He also checked some other concerns we had and gave us his professional opinion on what was necessary and what wasn't in need at this time. He drove the car in order to see the performance of the brakes and determine what needed to be fixed. He also told us what other things needed to be done at another time. He's very honest and won't sell you something you don't need. I highly recommend going to this business. He also has a body shop which is great. The work was done on time as promised. I was referred to G and P Auto Repair by my boyfriend. I have gotten my breaks done on two different vehicles and I was 100% satisfied. I even forgot to put gas in my car once and they put gas in it for me when they had to do a test drive. I was quoted at a couple other places and I've saved at least $200 with in my two visits. My boyfriend is having his transmission completely rebuilt with them right now. He also has had a lot of work done on his personal vehicles and work vehicles. I am still rating them a 5 star because they are good people, but their ad says : "walk ins welcome" and the last 3 times I dropped by , I got a "no, we are too busy" with no available date to bring it back. Maybe they could not give me a day they might take my car in because they were so booked??? Or... my repairs were minor (ie: took little time to fix), but.... Maybe the job wasn't cost efficient for their time and volume? Not puttin' 'em down, good people.... but... No, walk in's don't appear to be welcome. read more

I have been struggling with an engine idle problem for a couple of years, pouring money and parts into it with no luck and high frustration! It was intermittent and every time I thought I had solved it, back it came! So, with the engine light still on and often dying at a stop sign, and my DMV renewal smog-check due, I took it to G & P Auto in hopes of getting it solved. They did the job, fixed it right and now it is running like new! I waited a couple of months before writing this review just to make sure it was really fixed. Done! Everything the other reviews said. Fast and affordable. They had a thorough knowledge of my vehicle and what the issues were. Fast turnaround and didn't break the bank. Detail: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix with the 3.8 supercharger. Radiator leak due to plastic tubing that was fixed 6 months prior by a less reputable garage. They understood the part needed to be repaired with stronger materials and took care of it in about 3 hours for around $150. Very happy read more

G & P is one of the best auto repair shops out there..Arman is honest and the nicest man. I would not take my car anywhere else.

I had this shop rebuild the engine on my 02 Subaru wrx after it blew a piston. Spent roughly $4,500. This was a good price considering the dealership estimated a minimum of $6,000 for a new block, timing belt, etc. Ran good for about 3k miles. Normal things that break after a rebuild needing replacing and they fixed it free of charge which was great. I only had to buy a few parts. Flash forward another 1k miles and a knock can be heard from the engine bay on a cold start up. It remained somewhat consistent even at operating temp at low speeds in first gear or reverse. I took it in to have them look at it. Instead of hearing the knock they heard an exhaust leak that took 4 days to fix. I never actually OK'd this repair. Low and behold they hear the knock the day I am about to pick up the car. The original problem (knocking noise) was never resolved. The valve cover gaskets were replaced twice: once when the car was rebuilt and about 2500 miles after because they started leaking and smoking. When they did the exhaust repair, they took off the valve cover gasket again but did not replace it correctly. As I drove away, the car started smoking. Valve cover gasket needs replacing AGAIN for a third time. Bottom line: the rebuild took about 2 1/2 months. Almost every repair after that took an average of 5 days for jobs that are typically 4-8 hours. Knock is still there. Car smokes because of oil leaks. $4,500 and 4 months later I'm still left with a motor that is leaking oil and has a knock. I have no choice but to take my business elsewhere and take the loss (seeing that I might have to rebuild/replace the engine again) or sell the car for less than half its value. It is simply not working out with this shop and I can't justify going back after all of this. It's one thing to have great customer service, it's another to get the job done right. The ONLY thing I do NOT like about these guys is that they aren't in the High Desert where I live. I was looking at a used truck through Craig's list. I took the truck to these guys because they were close to the seller's house.They got me right in... NO wait... and started looking at the truck. Within minutes, they warned me that the truck would be a money pit. They cautioned against buying it. THEN... they didn't charge me... and wouldn't even take a TIP!! Extremely professional, very knowledgeable, and able to explain things to a non-mechanic. While waiting, I talked with an older gentleman who was there for service. He told me he never takes his vehicles anywhere else! Fantastic shop!. Don't be fooled by the exterior... these guys ROCK!! read more

Watch out at this place. Son went there they told him his car was smoking so bad it couldn't be fixed wanted a 100.00$ for that. Took the car to a new place 50.00$ the car was fixed and even passed smog son is driving car everyday and the car never smoked or burned oil still is driving the car today still running no problems same engine. 15 years ago they said my car a different car needed a carb in order to pass smog they did not know I was a mechanic took car to a different place it passed fine Then found out they turned my car in as a gross polluter I didn't want to give then and 1 star but I had too they are only looking to make money not fix your car they are the same owners. read more

With all of the so called honest mechanics out there I haven't found a more honest one than this shop. If you bring it in for one thing they do an inspection and they let you know that this ir that should be fixed ONLY if you want to. They aren't pushy what so ever. They want you to have a safe ride. I definitely recommend G&P Auto Repair for great customer service! Gary is very personable and talkative ;) I ended up talking to him the whole time my car was being smogged, very nice guy. His technician who performed my smog check (I did not get his name) was also very nice. The service was fast! It only took about 20 min. The price was good as well :) I paid around $60 the last time I had my car smogged, but here it was only $40. I will definitely be back in 2 years when my car needs another smog! Without hesitation the stealership quoted me some astronomical amount in which I decided to take my business elsewhere. I remember my friend telling me about this place that he goes to that was fairly reasonable. I asked for the contact and ended up speaking with Gary and Armand and maybe some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
