A different shop damaged my lil' Honda Fit by over-torquing the lug nuts when replacing tires. Recently, the lugs snapped off from this mistake and my husband and I couldn't get that shop to correct the issue. So we were on the lookout to find a shop, who is fair and did good work, to correct the lug nuts so we could continue with replacing the brakes and rotors. Through recommendation of our family friend, we were suggested to try Jim's Auto Repair. I'm SO glad to have found this shop! Not only did they fit us in on the same day (of which was extremely accommodating), but they also gave us a very reasonable price for changing out the spare brakes and rotors we had purchased prior too! I am extremely thankful for finding them and am planning on bringing all our vehicles back here whenever we need a mechanic! read more

Shop is tight, they took care of my classic baby. not the best price but they did the work. i didn't like the cash only or charge for use of credit card. i had to go run to an atm and bring them cash. overall nice , clean, and efficient shop. read more

I brought my vehicle in for a misfire diagnosis and specifically requested a full inspection since it had just reached 150,000 miles. The shop recommended a few items, including valve cover gaskets, oxygen sensors, and transmission service (pan gasket, fluid, and filter). After completing the work, they performed a test drive--and during that test drive, the transmission failed while the vehicle was in their possession. I was then told the transmission had essentially run without proper fluid flow and was now severely damaged. What concerns me is: * The vehicle was still drivable before I brought it in * The transmission failed only after the shop worked on it and test drove it * They recommended transmission service but still chose to drive the vehicle before addressing that * There was no indication given to me beforehand that driving the vehicle could cause catastrophic transmission failure When I raised these concerns, the shop declined to take any responsibility or assist with the cost of repairs. I understand that older vehicles can have issues, but having a major component fail while the car is under a shop's care--and then being left to deal with the full cost--doesn't sit right with me. I would recommend others ask detailed questions about what checks are performed before test drives, especially regarding critical systems like the transmission. read more

I brought my car in when I was in transit between Los Angeles and Palm Springs and it quit. Had to be towed off fastlane. The closest shop to get to was Jim's. They said they fixed the problem. Charged me $760 to replace 4 spark plugs and one coil. However, they were advising that I also replace all the coils which would have I believe been about $1200. The car never ran really smoothly again, and then last week it did the same thing with the same trouble messages on the dash. I was in the San Pedro area this time. I took it to one automotive place which wasn't equipped to find the problem. But they did pull off the spark plugs and showed me that only one had been replaced when jim charged me for all four. I stood right there and watched when they pulled. the plugs out and showed them to me so I know for a fact that they were not tricking me.,Then I got it to a Mazda dealer. They did extensive diagnostics, and they showed me again that yes. Only one plug had been changed, the rest were quite old and worn. And the coil that they replaced was completely the wrong size and incompatible with my car. Needless to say I do not have too much nice to say about Jim's automotive right now. When I talked to Eddie about it, he denied it could possibly be. So I will take the car in to show them on Tuesday. If they choose to stand behind their reputation and pay me back the money I spent fine. Otherwise, this will end up in court. I have already talked to the California Bureau of auto repairs to back me up, as well as an attorney who would be happy to sue for more money because of the additional $ this has cost me. But that is not my intention if they settle this honorably. Beware! Someone screwed up! Let's see if they will now stand up !!! read more

Jacklyn at Jim's Auto always surprises me when I tell her the symptoms of what's going on with my vehicle and 9 times out of ten, she calls it. She also goes above and beyond shopping for the best price for parts to try to keep prices as reasonable as possible. Finding well experienced mechanics and great customer service all in one is so rare these days, that we are truly grateful to have them here in Riverside. If you're looking for cheap, keep looking. These guys are the absolute best. They are so genuine, thorough, and always do a great job at a reasonable price. Eddie Eddie ediie!!! This man I think has the best auto service in Riverside CA. He is honest, he is a little expensive then others but boy when I tell you that he guarantees, warrantees and all the other 'tees' that he gives you after you fix your car is worth that extra money. I got my saturn vagon fixed cause we wanted to drive from Riverside CA to Wisconsin for a road trip which was 2000 miles, after the fix my car ran like butter flowing on the streets. The car was in a bad shape. It was leaking oil left and right, it had all crazy shaking going on when its on a stop light. The car had bad oil intake pump, the oil was going in the exhaust omg it was bad. Eddie fixed it, was honest bout it and most of all the service was awesome. To all my Elites, my fellow yelpers, and to someone who reads this review, please support your local businesses in time of this Pandemic. Jim's auto is one of them. They are pretty good in what they do as well. I have been to various mechanics in my area and either you get a greedy person or someone who will give you false hopes about your car and charges crazy money and once you are done with service, they don't even look back at your car. Jims auto is different. I know, I know he had to probably go through the same things in the past looking at other yelp reviews. But he has improved, the business has improved and trust me I got an amazing service with honest answers. As i said he was on a little expensive side, but he will show you the parts that he is using, he will always use name brand parts going in your car that comes with warranties and gaurantee, and he will be very very straight and honest with you. So give him a visit when your car or truck needs a surgery! read more

Excellent service! Everyone was extremely helpful, polite, and all around great! Anything car related go to them! I got my oil change done, full synthetic. My brakes were done and they checked the other concerns I had. Their prices are very reasonable. 10/10 recommend. read more

I came here today to try to get new brakes. They checked my brakes and discovered that I didn't need new brakes. What made me like this place is that they didn't try to take advantage of the situation and were transparent and truthful. Most other places would have lied or done something to where I would have needed new brakes, if you know what I'm saying. I just want to thank Eddie for his integrity and honesty, especially since I'm an African American woman. And most shops like to take advantage of that. I will most definitely come back here for all of my car needs. Thanks Guys! read more

I brock down and called Jim's just out of the blue. they answered the phone and right off they were very helpful!! I told them i was having my vehicle towed over to them and I had no ride home. when i arrived, they moved vehicles to accommodate my vehicle. This is absolutely one of the best by far mechanic shops I've ever been to . Everyone down there is nice honest and definitely knows what they're doing if you're looking for a good mechanic shop that does excellent work this is a place to go . This is definitely not a cheap just get it fixed and get it out of there place you pay good money and you definitely get top quality guaranteed warranty work. I have a 1997 Ford F150 there able to put a brand new 5.4 L engine in it redo the whole AC system plus I had different gearing put in the differential . They had for about 3 weeks. Being at the 97 when I was able to pick my vehicle up I did have to go back for a couple times because it's because it's a minor tweaks and adjustments but they definitely had no problem taking care of it and I've had it for about 4 or 5 months now not a single issues come up with it very happy very pleased these guys are excellent read more

Great place to get your car worked on. I come here to get my oil changed and they are great!

Had my engine swapped here and now I'm having electrical problems. Took it in to get looked at and their tech Eddie "we usually charge people to check this..." and in my mind I'm like "WTF!?" As if they don't have a warranty or guarantee on their work. Never had this problem before with my cars old engine so it's the work they've put in themselves. On top of that now my driver side fender rattles and it's never done that before. Checked my alternator it was fine, replaced the NEW battery I had gotten for it and now it's drained the NEW battery on it now. This is the 5th or 6th time the battery has drained. F***in sucked going to work this week because of this problem. I'll be contacting the BBB soon if I do not get the response or action I want. On top of that they put the wrong coolant in my vehicle when I got it back. After seeing the coolant and this happening I don't think they know what they're doing. It's either Pentofrost or Liqui Moly and distilled water for these vehicles. This isn't a ford or Chevy guys wtf... now I'm wondering what oil they used! My day off just keeps getting better and better smfh. Bottom line don't go here. 4/27/20 update: Forgot to post these pictures too. I spent two whole days trying to find the ear clips that holds my bumper flush with the fenders. Look how they left it... nice gap guys. Most likely when they took off my bumper they just yanked it off. Now I'm guessing the top pieces of the ears are ripped. Outstanding job guys. "It might take us longer because some times we accidentally brake prices and we have to replace them..." Yeah I can tell this shop runs by that "code" -Eddie Great way to be up front to a customer by NOT telling them that under the hood near the latch is a broken piece. Even better is that they even tried to glue and when that didn't work they added washers... very professional. 5/16/20 Wow... now my car is stuck in/on first gear. This is unbelievable. Do not come here!! So pissed off that I will have to call them back on Monday for their new f**k up. read more

Went in for some service work on my truck, I met Jacklyn at the front and she was very nice. I was able to get my truck looked at and worked on in good time and with a pretty good price. I'm definitely coming back read more

Absolutely amazing, trustworthy, educated, reliable!!!! I wanna first off just say I'm a generally great mechanic and yet I ran into trouble with a vehicle (which rarely happens) I had not been able to find the exact issue and were just chasing parts one weekend, but let me just say thank you!! Eddie and his team I had dropped off the vehicle not sure if i was gunna get any results but years of experience spoke for itself. I had received a call not long after from Eddie (great guy and even greater mechanic) stating I had a bent exhaust valve as well as completely worn camshafts etc. Eddie got me an invoice stat was more then reasonable gave the go ahead and he dived right in. Without Eddie and his team I would've been still failing smog and having a useless vehicle in the driveway. Not to mention the ladies upfront keeping me well informed when Eddie couldn't every step of the way! I appreciate Jim's auto repair and all you've done you now have a customer for life! 6 months and 11,000 miles later running smooth as day 1 Thank you Jim's auto repair!!! read more

These guys/girl are a complete joke. Rude and disrectful. One of the mechanics flipped me off in front of my 3 year old daughter. Ignorant people. Don't go here. They are the absolute worst business in Riverside. They have the same junky cars parked in the streets because they can't fix the problems without gouging your bank account I'm sure. Don't waste your time. This business should be closed down. And the people working there should find a new profession because customer service is NOT it read more

I highly DO NOT recommend this shop. Its a small business which would be expect to be good and helpful, but it seems they want to do an 80% job each time to require you to come back. I had an appointment set by the head mechanic there, came and waited an hour, and he never showed up. I know car stuff, and i say Go to a different place. they lack organization and even respect. read more
