To quote Kevin Hart "I'll only get a Cheesesteak in Philadelphia. No one else does it right". Well I can vouch after having a Philly experience a few years back there is truth to that, but that's UNTIL I discovered at random From Philly. Many places on Yelp are nowhere near deserving of their rating, but even they are worth well beyond the 4 1/2 rating they currently house. I'm sure that's a highly debated statement, but I can tell you it took years to find a place to hold a candle to Philly. By no means does it best the OG, but this has been by far the best I've found East of Philadelphia and that's speaking volumes! I will state my case below, but find out for yourself should you feel froggy. The menu alone goes many different directions. There are hoagies pre determined or you can build your own (always fool proof should you not like what's offered), pizzas, customizable fries, and yes the main attraction Cheesesteak variations. For the portion size yes it's slightly pricey yet fair as you'd spend the same if not more to get something honestly lower quality. I caught it on a good day with a NFL playoff deal: free chips and drink with purchase of a Cheesesteak which ran me about $12 total. How's THAT for confidence in what you put out? In all fairness this would be #2 on my list for just darn good Cheesesteaks outside of Philadelphia (#1 being up in San Luis Obispo, you can search my reviews for that one), but no doubt this is 100% a game changer. It comes packed with oozing provolone and American cheese. You can see from the picture it is as ooey and gooey as your heart can desire. I appreciated how fresh the veggies (onion, mushroom, and bell peppers) were. It was definitely a step up from Philly's Best by far and pretty much the next best thing to creating it at home. What sets it apart is the steak itself. I couldn't quite place why the meat was a quality above the rest until I learned they use ribeye steak. My jaw dropped yet my tummy gurgled a thank you in appreciation for simply doing something right. You don't half "hiney" a precious sandwich like this and I salute that attention to detail! Other noteables was the portion. I unrolled the paper and thought it looked small, but looks were deceiving. It's perfectly portioned as you can finish it and not feel like you've devoured Philly. The bread was crispy where it needed be and and a soft blanket inside. All in all it sent my taste buds into Dreamland quite happily. You know you got a winner even when the chips it's partnered with pack a punch. They go with kettle chips from the Dirty brand and trust me it never feels so good to be this Dirty. I went with the buffalo bleu flavor and WOW just WOW. It had a slight zing of heat yet a smooth slap of tang from the blue cheese. Such a great kettle chip and best of all healthy ( it passed the test of my health concise wife's review of the label). When you do it right you deserve a pat on the back and it's taken years to find a legit meat sandwich powerhouse and this is that place. read more

You know how Phillys Best meat looks grey and leathery? Well this is pink and robust and flavorful and tender and velvety. The downfall of ANY cheesesteak joint is the crappy, over dry meat. This place elevated the "steak" in "cheesesteak" to new heights. Don't believe me? Go try one. Then get back to me. The cheese here is off the charts. JUST the right consistency and amount. Oh, and stop with the "Cheese Whiz" comparisons. If you need cheese whiz on your cheesesteak, then you deserve to keep eating at the "Philly Best" chain with its crappy interpretation of a real Philly Cheesesteak. The winner is/are the grilled veggies that go on the sandwich. Wow. Fresh to a fault. Oozing in a slightly greasy, orange sauce that adds a huge Zing to the sandwich's flavor. Onions, peppers and mushrooms are just amazing. Rather than the flavorless CRAP you get at the chains, this is how the street vendors do it in Philadelphia. I know, I tried a zillion of them. From Philly, really? Strayed from Johns in HB because this spot is closer to my home. Big mistake! When you're in the realm of the $12 sandwich you better be some sweet deliciousness and From Philly is not. The sandwich is small, the roll is generic and where is the hot pepper mix!! THE HOT PEPPER MIX!!! Pretty much doesn't exist. The ordering, receiving your sandwich sucks too. Why people don't make to order in this day and age is beyond me. You throw a ton of meat on a griddle making orders all over the place because you do grub hub orders consequently customer orders in the restaurant are inconsistent. One sandwich was made and wrapped while the other was lost in limbo for at least 5 min which ends up with one warm sandwich with the other hot and soggy fries. I can't recommend this place simply due to the fact that sandwich consistency is garbage. Johns Philly grill over in HB is made to order! Fresh hoagies from a local bakery everyday. Authentic Philly hot pepper mix that is an absolute must! Most importantly every order is made to order at the same time, did I mention that? Lol. First of all Philly cheesesteaks are supposed to be a nice juicy cheesy sandwich. The cheesesteak I received from here was dry as leather it was supposed to have extra cheese which did not supposed to have mushrooms which I counted and there were six mushrooms in a full sandwich. I would not recommend eating anything from here unless you like leather. My wife's sandwich was the same way dry and put onions on her sandwich and the response to be no onions on her sandwich it's clearly reading a ticket to make a sandwich very disappointed it was at 7:30 at night there's nobody in the store there's nobody in front of me there's no weather orders to make so either the employees are incompetent lazy or don't know how to cook a proper cheesesteak for the food here is just that bad read more

Friendly service and completely empty at noon on a Thursday. I tried the traditional cheesesteak, fries and a soda. $14 later (ouch!) I sat down. The fries were the highlight. Piping hot and big, thick and tasty. The sandwich was mediocre at best. Decent, but small for the price at over ten bucks. Good bread but certainly not from Philly. Being from the East Coast I have to say that there sandwich wasn't an authentic Philly Cheesesteaks but it was a good attempt. And the bread, it wasnt chewy and tough to bite into like some places. The combination of flavors made me want to keep eating even after my stomach said "no mo'". I had to give the place a shot. Normally I wouldn't go for a steak sandwich outside of Philly but Dietz and Watson sign caught my eye and I was starving. It was probably the worst cheesesteak that I ever had! I've had better cheesesteaks that were from the freezer and made in the microwave. The parking lot was packed, so I thought that this place might be the real deal. I tried to get a parking spot in the small parking lot for about 10 mins. I finally gave up and parked in some other stores parking lot down the block. When I finally made it into the place and paid my $13.50 for a cheesesteak and a can of root beer, I waited for about 15 mins for my order. When paying $11 for a sandwich, I am expecting some quality meat.... NOT ROAST BEEF!!! There was nothing good about sandwich. The roll was soaked with grease, just wasn't a good steak roll. This was my first and last stop at "Not From Philly". Just another shop that is abusing the name. I really was excited to try this place but I was very disappointed. I went for lunch and there wasn't anyone there. I ordered the large Philly cheesesteak and it was about $13 which I thought was pretty expensive when the sandwich wasn't even that big. The bread was a little tough, the meat was cut too thick and didn't really have good seasoning on it. I also didn't like the cheese that they put on the philly, it was clumpy and not melted and gooey like it should be. Overall I wouldn't come back here, it just wasn't worth the hype. The Philly went first, because it's hot and Cheesesteak Day. Phenomenal. Packed with steak, and plenty of bell peppers/onions. It was wrapped in one of those aluminum yet not aluminum papers so it stayed nice on hot, and was still warm by the last bite. 10/10 The Italian was also good, you can tell the meats are all premium. 8.5/10 Strange to see some of the reviews knock the bread, the bread might have been my favorite part of both sandwiches. Soft yet toasty exterior. Definitely fresh. The only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 was because I was accidentally charged for a full size Italian instead of a half size. When I return next week (and I'll definitely be back) maybe they will correct that. Excited to go back. From Philly just opened on Baker St.just off the 55 Fwy. They have a large assortment of specialty sandwiches and offer ice cream and other goodies. I got a traditional Cheesesteak and it was very good. It had steak, Provalone cheese, Sautéed onions and peppers on a large soft hoagie roll. I liked it a lot but it was a bit different than other places I've tried. Not in a bad way, just different. The menu looks very good and the lunch specials looked like a great value so I'll be back for sure. It shares a lot with the larger liquor store next door. I was able to get the last parking spot so I expect it will be full from now on. There is ample street parking 50 yards away. read more
