Came the other night around 9:30pm, y'all said it closed at 10:30. We were immediately stopped by the owner claiming they were closing in a half hour because of the snow.. the snow isn't starting until today, two days after this visit to Friendly's. I said we were going to be quick we had our orders ready. They seated us & immediately the server had a bad attitude. I know they were supposedly closing, but i was honestly making the order quickly & even placed our ice cream order to go. This waitress was extremely rude. We never got a refill for our waters & when I requested honey mustard, the whole cup was overflowing & she blamed it on the fact that everything was already put away. Can I give it 0 stars? First nobody wanted to be our waitress. My kids hot dog was black and the Mac and cheese was hard and impossible to eat, literally. The manager rudely grabbed the plate from our table and just took it off the bill. All while we had been trying to get our waitress attention for 30 min while she chatted with another waitress. I have two kids in wheelchairs and they stuck us in the corner. I thought, perfect, it will give us enough space for the kids. Nope, I truly feel I was being discriminated for because of my kids disabilities. Was here over a year ago and haven't been back since, and never will. I know one shouldn't expect much at Friendly's, and why write a yelp review, but I figured people should be warned. When I went there it was at night, wasn't busy and the hostess wouldn't even look up from her cell phone when she snapped "Yeah?!" with a real nasty attitude. Guess I bothered her by being there, making her to actually have to do her job. I would feel bad for the management and how hard it must be to find good help, but they were sitting off in another section of the restaurant not doing anything and couldn't care less of the state of the place. The floors and tables were dirty, and nobody was doing anything. To top it all off, a mouse ran through the dining room in and out of each booth, and only my friend and I noticed. We were there on Veterans' Day. The place was packed. Since they were serving veterans free meals. I said great, I am a Navy veteran. Unfortunately, the usual spotty service was overwhelmed. Came in for dinner with the family after seeing that it had been redone after years of it being ugly and subpar. Immediately after we sat down our waiter rushed over to take our order. I thought the service was going to be great, but I was sadly mistaken. Our waiter immediately started hitting on me and my sister calling us his princesses, ignoring my brother and my dad, and even touched my arm at one point. It was super creepy and unprofessional, but we stuck it out to try the food. My food and my sister's food came out fine but my dad's and brother's both were completely wrong, not surprising seeing as our waiter didn't even look at them the entire meal and instead just kept refilling my water and making jokes about princesses never being dehydrated. Walked over here from the Mini Cooper dealer ship to grab a bite to eat. Its nice because if you want to eat outside, you can order your food right when you walk inside. They have registers and workers in the front to take your order. My wife and I wanted to eat inside and were seated right away. Staff was freindly and accomodating. It has been awhile since I actually ate at Friendlys but noticed you can now build your own burger. This is the option my wife and I took. Some of the options offered have a price so it can add up to an expensive burger if you are not careful. The food came out at a decent time and the burgers were delicious. We finished off our meal with ice cream. Definitely will eat here again. read more

this place is for children, the elderly, and folks looking to eat a lot for a bargain. the food at friendly's harkens back to the days before people ate kale and quinoa. sure there are a couple of salads on the menu, but one of the salads has fried chicken on top! if you are counting calories, don't bother coming--you will miss out on all the good times. my mother and I shared the fishamajig (embarrassing name to order, but it's always been called that) and a BLT. each of these sandwiches come w fries but for 99cents extra you can upgrade to waffle fries or onion rings. no brainer, we did. the waffle fries were nice and crispy with the slightest hint of spice. the onion rings' batter was perfectly thick and crunchy and the onion inside was white and didn't seem like it had even kicking around a factory or freezer for too long. the bacon on the BLT was brittle and well done--the way I love it! the bread was a little dry, so I ditched the bread and just ate the bacon, lettuce, and tomato. the fishamajig is delish. it just is, and has been since my childhood. it is a buttery grilled cheese sandwich with a piece of fried fish and tartar sauce inside. it is salty and greasy and to be consumed seldom but what a tasty gut bomb! my mom and I wanted to share a scoop of Vienna mocha chip for dessert but we were too stuffed from all the fried. don't come expecting gourmet. come expecting diner food with an extensive ice cream sundae menu. 3.5 stars read more

We have nicknames this place "slowly's" it's aptly serving times. You usually sit around for a good 20-30 minutes waiting for food. It's a fun environment and when you go there, don't expect the service to be fast. It's also one of the only restaurants on its stretch of Madison Ave giving little choice to other places to eat. But I have had nice waitresses, waiters, and the occasional laugh with friends there. When/if you go, order immediately. It will save you time down the road. read more

My wife, my mother in law, my father, my two kids, and myself went for ice cream tonight around 5:30. There were at least 15 open tables that were ready to be sat, but for some reason the waitresses and hostess took at least 10 minutes to seat us because there was two couples ahead of us despite the availability of tables. We were finally sat and the waitress came over as miserable as could be. She took our drink order and came back and asked what we wanted. My daughter ordered the Jim dandy and she said were out of bananas. My daughter then went to choose another item and the waitress rudely walked away in the middle of taking an order and went to help another table, ran some food for a few other tables and finally came back. "You guys ready now?" She asked with a scowl on her face. We ordered, she brought our ice cream and within 1 minute of giving us our ice cream she handed us the check before we even started eating. She didn't ask if we wanted anything else. It was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my entire life. It was far from friendly. I left feeling quite annoyed that about the entire experience which compelled me to write this review. I will also be contacting the manager because it was totally unacceptable. I waited tables for almost a decade and I would never treat a table with such angst and hostility. It's such a shame because I had great memories going to this exact location as a kid but apparently it has gone down hill. read more

It was adequate. The food was good. We ordered breakfast. The coffee was good but our server did not give us refills until we were almost done eating. If you want an inexpensive American breakfast, I would recommend this place. If you want exceptional customer service, you may want to go elsewhere. read more

Having experienced Friendly's various menu and decor changes over the years, I actually stopped going here altogether until recently. I am happy to say they now have gotten their stuff together. Menu seems to have stabilized with the expected favorites (burgers and ice cream and balloons) and some really decent "healthier" additions, like the fish tacos -- super yummy! -- who would've guessed? -- and the turkey tips salad. Can sub out broccoli for fries and that was also excellent - broccoli fresh, cooked correctly (not too mushy) and well seasoned. Service has also evened out and I am glad to say we go there regularly now. Thanks Friendly's for getting it together! read more

It's a usual friendly's. Pretty good parking full of children. The staff though at this one is horrible. We had a waitress named Sandra. 1. She didn't introduce herself like a normal waitress. 2. When she bought out the drinks she spilled soda all over us. 3. When taking our order she was barely paying attention and when my cousin was still trying to make a decision she was very snappy and impatient. 4. She didn't respond to her own name after being called multiple times. It was highly annoying. Very disappointed. 5. When we asked about the wifi she responded "we have it. I don't know if it's working today". Common Friendly's do better. Overall id give this particular restaurant a 2.5 because the food was pretty good. read more

Had lunch there yesterday, usual greasy menu items, for $10- they have a meal with sandwich and sunday. A drink came with it, I ordered a drink, but never got it. Today I AM SICK AS HELLLLLLLLL with a violent stomach ache ! Oddly, I had a bad experience at another Friendy's years back where I was sickashelll and it went through my mind as I ordered, but I was meeting a friend so I ordered anyway. Is it coincidence? On Friday November 11, Veteran's Day, I came to Friendly's to enjoy my complimentary meal. I was taken to a table at the rear of the restaurant where I was sat at a table alone and simply forgotten. A table of 5-6 was sat next to me and within a minute, a server had come over and took their drink order. Not long after, less than two minutes after they were sat, their drink order was brought to them. They were asked about food. All the while, I sat alone, isolated and completely ignored. It was humiliating and very embarrassing to say the least After five minutes of sitting, I proceeded to the front, wanting to speak to a manager. I explained to him how I was sat and was just left there. I told him I just wanted to get my free veterans meal to go and just leave. When he asked a female worker about who was in that section, she proceeded to defend her coworker, stating maybe he just did not see me. I am 6 feet 4 and weigh over 260 pounds. It is extremely hard to miss me. he stated, that there was no excuse for this behavior. When I told him what I wanted, he proceeded to tell me that normally they do not do this, but he would make some kind of exception. At this point, I was feeling like some kind of imposition to the normal order of operation. During my entire visit, I never felt welcomed and the manager gave me the impression that my problem was not genuinely important to him. As a veteran, I was entitled to a free meal. What I did not get and was looking for, was a sincere apology for the horrendous way in which I was treated as a guest of your restaurant. When I told him I was a veteran, he deflected by informing me that he too was a veteran. This had nothing to do with him. This was my problem. I felt no genuine connection towards him and I definitely did not sense even the most remote degree of empathy towards my problem. I sensed that he wanted to cook up my meal and have me out of his restaurant as quick as possible. I am a veteran with eighty percent disability.The physical pain I endure every day cannot be dismissed. However, on this day, in your restaurant, the emotional degradation and shame and total sense of invisibility I experienced in your establishment will stay with me for a long time. read more

just ordered food for me and my boyfriend from here. first they overcharged us as my receipt said $34.93. i paid with a gift card so on my way to get the food i pick up an item thinking i had sufficient funds on my gift card but it was declined, i went to check the balance and saw friendlys took out $40.17. my receipt said $34. i ordered takeout so i didn't add a tip and tax was already added. i went to pick up my food 15 minutes early to ask about the extra $6. the woman said friendlys had nothing to do with the money and i'd have to sort it out with the gift card company myself. she wasn't that nice about it. when i got there early my food was already ready. drove 5 minutes back home for it to be cold. $8 for cold, hard mac n cheese. i tried using the one spoon they gave me, (ketchup and utensils were requested) to scrape the mac up, but then the paper takeout container started peeling and crumbled into my mac n cheese. don't even ask me about the quality of the hot dogs with the mac n cheese. my boyfriend got a quesadilla that looked like a taco bell crunch wrap. i just think $40 for mac n cheese a quesadilla a salad and a sundae is absurd. for the quality of the food you're better off trying to recreate whatever friendlys meal you wanted at home. and actually have leftovers. i'm still hungry. read more

Wow, where do I start? This place is terrible, and I already had low expectations. As we were walking in, there was an older man, with his son - screaming at the manager because he had been there for 20 minutes (at a table) and no one came over. It was not even busy. The food is okay - as with any Friendly's - but the management here is why this specific location has such a poor quality of service. read more

I used to come here a few times for lunch when I was working across the street. It is traditional American diner food, lot of calories, grease and fat. I've had fish tacos, quesadilla and turkey burger. All of them were alright, slightly above average diner quality, but so are the prices. They had a lunch deal where you buy an entree, a drink and you get a big ice cream sundae all for 12 usd, which is a good deal. One time they tried to push for this deal, but I didn't feel like having an ice cream and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy for not getting it. Usually staff are OK, but things seem to run so slow here. Ideally I want to be in and out within 45 minutes, but it usually takes well over an hour at Friendlys. The restaurant is big, but it is always full, even at off peak hours. 90 percent of customers are very old people, I don't think I've seen so many elderly at the same place anywhere else. read more

We went to Friendly's last evening as a last minute choice.Very glad we did.The Cheeseburgers were excellent by any standard. Tasty and very juicy. Not the first time we have been pleasantly surprised at the food quality.We have gone to this location about six or seven times in the last six months. Once for a very good breakfast and the Lobster Rolls during August were also top notch. Last night our server Mike was wonderful and made this a pleasant dining experience. This is one of the better Friendly's I've been to. The food is good and the service is a little faster than the usual pokey service you get from these restaurants. We live locally, and the fact that many of the wait staff have been at their jobs for years I guess speaks well for the restaurant as an employer. Having said all that, I do have a complaint about a change in the quality of service recently. Sometime ago computer terminals were installed near the back of the dining areas, where the wait staff can enter orders. It seem that now when taking an order, the close proximity of the terminals causes some to think, "I don't need to write anything down. I'll be able to remember the order for the few feet I need to walk to enter it." Consequently, we've noticed a big uptick in screwed-up orders. The last time, the waitress said, "I didn't hear you say you ordered xxxx." That was when we told her the most major of her two omissions. We then didn't even bother mentioning another more minor omission. This situation has made us less inclined to choose this Friendly's when we decide to go out for breakfast. read more

Worst service ever I had to wait in the front of the restaurant and the orange juice tasted hot and canned

A waitress spilled coleslaw all over me while walking by and didn't even stop to apologize or acknowledge what happened. I had to call over another waitress to ask for napkins so I could clean the coleslaw off the back of my shirt and out of my hair. It was totally disgusting. I asked to speak to the manager and he was entirely useless. He handed me a crumbled up napkin, and didn't apologize or offer us any kind of compensation for the terrible experience. I understand that accidents happen, I work at a restaurant myself. But it was handled so poorly. The waitress who spilled the coleslaw became very defensive and angry, she even aggressively tried to wipe the mayonnaise off my back. You shouldn't be touching a customer at all, especially so aggressively. She kept scoffing, "well I didn't mean to," and while I'm glad she didn't intentionally throw coleslaw at me, I would have appreciated her being a bit more apologetic, and not physically assaulting me while cleaning up the mess she made. Accidents happen, but you don't have to be rude to us when we are already upset from being covered in someone else's food. read more
