Despite my deciding to go elsewhere -- should anyone else be reading this review, it should be known that Rudy is the guy to go to at Friendly! After Rudy worked very hard to get me a deal together, I realized that the price of the car I wanted was still going to be about $160 short of a competitor's offer. The managers at Friendly would not budge, so I had to go elsewhere. The other dealer even threw in a few FREE extras (all season mats, wheel locks, VIN etching) when the delivery of my new car was delayed an additional day. Beware of the sales dept. They will up-sell you on a warranty and tell you that it is a win win situation because if you do not use it you will get the money back. They don't tell you in the 5 pages of fine print it says you must keep your car for 7 years or 100,000 miles to get your money back. I was going to purchase a new car today but because I would not be able to get my money back on the extended warranty I will now be keeping the Honda untill I reach 100,000 miles and I will not be going back to Honda. Every time I come here it's the same thing. I'm having an oil change done to my car. An oil change. When you walk inside, there's a desk with two people. You can't talk to these people, because they've put a giant white board in front of their faces that say "please find any open associate". So I stand in line where I can't tell who's open because some are eating snacks and lunch, others are peering into their computers like they're doing something. Finally a man invites me over, doesn't tell me to sit (so I stand) as he clicks the mouse and finds my scheduled appointment. I've been sitting here for 40 minutes, and no one has told me how long this was going to take. The man sitting next to me has been waiting for 20 minutes and someone just came in to tell him his part they said they ordered wasn't ordered and he has to come back another day. I only come here for an oil change because they tacked on the service plan when I purchased my new car. I hate coming here, and if you're paying for an oil change I'd go to any regular gas station before coming here. read more

My daughter purchased a used car at Friendly Honda. She worked with Reggie; who was nice enough. Paul, the finance guy, was a different story. He clearly has something against young people ; as he called my daughter "kid" more than once and said our credit union hires 18 year olds who don't know what they're doing. (By the way- my daughter is 28). The fact is, my daughter told him not to run her credit because she already had a pre-approval through the credit union. Paul did a social security search for her application and didn't find it. Instead of calling the credit union; LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE, he submitted a new application. This credit pull caused her score to drop a few points; as inquiries will, and it almost caused my daughter to receive a higher interest rate than she should have. I say almost, because she called HVFCU to ask about something else and that's how she found out credit was repulled; which warranted a 5.40% rate. The credit union did right by my daughter and said they would honor the pre-approval credit score which gives her 4.24% rate. IF SHE HADN'T CALLED SHE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A HIGHER RATE!!! She expressed her displeasure to Paul about this and he blamed it all on the credit union. I emailed Dom, the VP, and received no reply!!! Do NOT go to friendly honda; it was anything but a friendly experience in the end. read more

We had a great interaction with Friendly Honda when we bought a used vehicle there. I was expecting a lot of gimmicks and pushy salespeople but it couldn't have been farther from that. We worked with Bruce Heron and he was very professional yet relaxed and not pushy. You want to buy your next car from him! It was a no-pressure experience. The finance manager Paul was extremely efficient having all the paperwork ready and in order while at the same time very personable. As an out-of-towner, I would normally expect to be made into easy prey by a car dealer's service center. As I will be leaving town as quickly as I entered, the incentive of developing an ongoing customer relationship is just not there. That said, my experience at Friendly Honda was -- well, the exact opposite. I received kindly and concerned service, including an attempt to keep the bill low, as the temporary fix required follow-up once I returned to my home 300 miles away. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE to get your car fixed! Fair, honest, Rich, the service advisor, really explained things and even followed up with an email to inquire if I made it I made it home ok! Concerned service by grown-ups who actually care about people. That's what I found. I took the car to get my air bags replaced due to the recall. The service people were rude, I stood around waiting to check in ... The guy looked right at me standing there and picked up the phone and ignored me. It seemed a personal call. I asked that my door locks be looked at and they told me there was no problem.. When in fact there still was. When I filled out the lengthy survey and complained.. And rated them low, I got no response. Waste of time and a reflection of their arrogance. I just got a call from Friendly telling me my Element is probably due for service. It was a sales recording. This is outrageous!!! I never agreed to them using my phone for sales calls! Junk call. I have also been getting emails from them and I am unable to unsubscribe, so I have responded to those email requesting I be taken off their list... I STILL get emails. I came to this dealer because it was recommended by a few people I know, and it had fairly good ratings on dealer websites. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews more closely! While I am hopeful that things will improve should I need the car serviced, I am relieved to be done with the sales department. The salesperson, Vladimir, was at times, and initially, very professional and pleasant. At others, he did not seem trustworthy and was condescending. He also seemed to push a credit check early on (although I get that dealers need to protect themselves from unreliable customers). On my 3rd visit when I was going to choose a car to buy (already had a deposit on one), he actually argued with us and talked over me rudely when I explained concerns about the vehicles we test drove that day. He also made an odd comment wishing my friend and me a belated Happy International Women's Day. I am not sure I interpreted that as authentic, considering he had just argued with us, and did not seem to like a woman standing up for a fair deal and treatment. This purchase was unexpected, and I was spending a lot of money, so I do not take this investment lightly. The dealer (manager and sales) was unwilling to come down on the APR or base price for any of the damaged cars (although my credit is stellar). I found them completely inflexible. I also asked the salesperson 3x to refund my deposit from my Visa, and he agreed but NEVER DID, so it was put toward my down payment (not what I wanted since I was using insurance money for this purpose). The finance manager was also cold. Working with this dealership was exhausting. I absolutely LOVE my last dealership: DCH Wappingers Falls Toyota. They are professional, not pushy, and they were offering better rates (and were willing to come down on the base price). I would go there again in a heartbeat, and loved working with Nate. *The only reason I bought from Friendly Honda (AND spent more money than I intended due to the higher APR) was the product; I know Honda is a great brand, and I hope that the service department's fair reputation holds up. *The other staff were very nice; the receptionists and online associates were excellent. Note: I felt compelled to buy an extended warranty because of concerns with the vehicles I saw there. It was rather stressful to have to buy a car to begin with (since mine was hit while parked and totaled). This experience did not alleviate the stress. Again, I hope the car lasts and lives up to Honda's good name. read more

We loved buying a car with Tom Muff; he made it so carefree and effortless. And we left with a car that we adore. First, the salesman laughed at my budget, then tried to sell me a new Fit: just the opposite of what I wanted and needed. Service department is the worst. I bought the car there 2 years ago and all was good for purchasing. The A team works for sales. The F team works for service.The service department has been impossible to work with. They don't have appointments that are convenient or the wait is too long, they can't see my car sooner for loud noises before a trip, their prices are way high, and they generally are rude and not helpful, Yesterday was the worst when the woman serivce advisor could not answer my simple, straightforward question about transmission service mileage. She kept trying to ask questions which were not relevant, wormed around and gave me a completely off the wall answer which I know was incorrect. She seemed bothered and annoyed with the question, was rude and impatient but most important could not answer my simple question which should have been within her job responsibility to know and did not know how to or was not willing to find the answer so she faked it!. I will never use this unprofessional, untrustworthy organization again. This is the level at which they operate and it is way less than satisfactory. How could you trust them with your car when they are ignorant? There are other Honda dealer around and both are better. Go to Newburgh or Yorktown, neither is great but WAY better. Yorktown did not know the answer to my question but knew how to find out and tried to be helpful. They will get my business because they wanted to help. Frinedly seems to not want to be bothered. Their service representative, Rich Hill, was very knowledgeable and took a great deal of time to make sure my auto was well serviced and ready for winter, as well as checking to be sure the car had not been recalled.
