We had a very disappointing experience with Friendly Honda of Poughkeepsie and ultimately walked away from purchasing a brand new 2026 Honda Passport Elite. At first, everything seemed great, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and we were excited to move forward with buying a beautiful ash green Passport with gray/black interior. We completed all the paperwork and scheduled a pickup date, expecting a smooth delivery of a brand new vehicle. When we arrived to pick up the car, we were shocked. The interior was filthy -- covered in mud, dust, and footprints. There were scrapes/chips in the interior paint near the doors, a chip in the steering wheel, and multiple noticeable scratches throughout the cabin and trunk. On top of that, the exterior had significant damage, including deep scratches on the bumper, the driver-side mirror, and the tire well -- not minor marks, but scratches where the plastic was peeling. We were understandably upset that a brand new $56,000 vehicle had not been properly inspected, cleaned, or prepared. After hours of back-and-forth, the dealership agreed to replace the damaged exterior parts, which is something that should have been done before we ever arrived. When we asked what they would do to compensate us for the inconvenience and poor experience, they initially refused and only offered us minor service credits. After a long negotiation, they only agreed to take $1,500 off for the interior damage that could not be fixed which we thought was fair. The situation got worse. After waiting over a week and a half, confirming everything was ready, and preparing to finally pick up the car, we were told at the last minute that there was now a significant scratch in one of the windows, requiring a full replacement. We were given the option to either take the car and come back again later to have the window replaced (another major inconvenience), or wait even longer. At this point, in my opinion - this is no longer a new vehicle with 4 replaced parts and a service history. When we again asked what they would do to make this right after everything we had already been through, they refused to offer anything further. At that point, we walked away. This was an incredibly frustrating and disheartening experience. We were patient, reasonable, and excited to make a major purchase -- and instead were met with poor quality control, repeated issues, and a lack of accountability. I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle here. And I would strongly encourage anyone considering a "new" vehicle from this dealership to inspect it very carefully, as our experience suggests these vehicles may not be in truly new condition despite being sold as such. I also feel concerned for whoever ultimately purchases the Ash Green 2026 Passport with the gray/black interior that we had selected. This vehicle is not truly "new" -- it has already had damage and multiple parts replaced, and I question whether that will be fully disclosed to the next buyer. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with this experience and the level of professionalism we encountered. As a business owner myself - I would never want anyone walking away with this experience and would have bent over backwards to make things right for a customer that had gone through what we had. It feels that the focus at this dealership is more on completing the sale than on transparency and customer experience, which is not the kind of business we feel comfortable supporting. read more

I've been bringing my car to Friendly Honda for years with no complaints--until now. In September 2024, my 2022 Civic's AC blower was replaced under warranty. Fast forward to summer 2025, the exact same issue came back: AC temperature was fine, but airflow was weak and sometimes the blower stopped completely--three times during 90°+ days. I was told the warranty was good for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Unfortunately, I was 100 miles over the mileage limit, and Honda refused to honor it--strictly citing the policy. On top of that, they needed my car for at least two days and I had to wait a week just to get a loaner. Dropped my car off on 7/28/25. Nothing was looked at until 7/31. They claimed the AC was working fine but said my passenger door needed a new actuator. I declined the repair due to my frustration with the blower issue. I ended up paying $216 for two diagnostics--one for the AC (which wasn't "failing") and one for the door. Ironically, the door lock worked perfectly the moment I picked it up. Staff repeatedly said things like "that's a tricky one" and "it was working fine when we looked at it," and told me to bring it in while it wasn't working--completely unrealistic with my job and distance from the dealership. A few days later, the blower stopped again. I fixed it myself in minutes by disconnecting and reconnecting the blower's wiring. Since then, it's worked flawlessly. Bottom line: I feel like I paid $216 for nothing. This experience was frustrating, unhelpful, and has completely changed my opinion of Friendly Honda. As someone who gave Friendly a 5 star review for their sales process two years ago, take it from me - AVOID FRIENDLY HONDA. It has been the sole servicer of my car up until yesterday. Now they are ACTIVELY DOING THINGS TO REDUCE THE LIFE OF YOUR VEHICLE. My car went in for it's required service which included an oil change and brake fluid flush. Without my wife's knowledge or awareness they added a $25 fuel treatment and a $23 engine oil additive. Not just was this a blatant cash grab, it goes against my owners manual which specifically says oil additives should NOT be put in the car (See photo). On top of that, the engine is way overfilled with oil (See other photo). I don't even trust them to rectify the situation so I'm just reporting them to the NYS Attorney General's Office as well as Honda Corporate. We purchased our first CPO car, a 2021 CRV-EX, in July. Great experience with Ahmed El Gandour as our sales rep. We purchased a 2023 Accord with less than 15,000 miles on it and were delighted with Paul Hoffman who worked through the closing paperwork with us. We felt respected and well-treated all around. Friendly Honda really helped us out when our 2024 Honda CRV hybrid suddenly developed 44 maintenance codes. We were about 350 miles from home and visiting the area. We drove into the service area at 4:30pm and had all the codes reset. We were out of there in about an hour. We really appreciate them fitting us in on a busy day. Service dept: Made an appointment weeks ago for an oil change & tire rotation. My appointment was 12:15 (I arrived at 12:07) and did not get out until 2:30. Also significantly more expensive than the dealership I typically use - $157 (and that is after the $10 coupon....so total would've been $167). It was synthetic; however significantly overcharged @ 13.99 a quart! 'Labor' for the oil change & rotation was $62.51. On the plus side, the advisor was a kind woman. I had the worst experience of my life trying to purchase a car today at Friendly Honda. We saw a used Nissan Altima that we liked and asked to test drive it. our salesman John gave us the keys and told us to take it for a ride for as long as we liked. we came back approximately 15 minutes later and told him that we liked it and wanted to know the total price. While we are waiting for the numbers another salesman gives the car to someone else to drive. when John came back with the figures we asked him about what had happened and he told us that someone else was interested in the car but that the car was ours unless we changed our mind. He asked us to test drive a Sentra that had less mileage and told us that if we still wanted the Altima, it was ours. We took the Sentra for a drive but within a few blocks we knew thwe wanted the altima upon our return to the dealership John told us that we were now Second on the altima and that they were running a credit check on the other guy. He said that since we took out another car (which we did at his request ) the other guy became first buyer but if his credit check did not work out we could have the car! I told John that it was an underhanded way of doing business!! I will never go back to Friendly Honda again, even though I have purchased cars from them in the past. they should change their name to Cutthroat Honda because that is the type of business that they are running as experienced by me and my husband today! Upselling champion of the world. Ook my wifes 2018 Accord in for a recall and NY annual inspection. They called and said the car needed a laundry list of items to correct issues. Allignment with new control arms and bushings, new cabin air filter, new engine air filter. Oil additive, fuel injector cleaning procedure to correct poor fuel mileage. Car gets 36 mpg city, 39 to 42 open road. I had put in the engine air filter 2 weeks before appointment. During an oilchange apt in August they supposedly did an appraisal of rhe car and would buy it for 21,000, now three months later its a death trap at 6 years old. Dealers arent selling cars Nov. Dec. Jan are dead month for sales. So if they need to keep the lights on, they gotta do it through service. I live 1.5 miles away, wont ever go back there. Go to youtube and search Honda Dealership scams. It totally dawned on me that I had that package and decided to pull up my paperwork. Sure enough! It was a little over a year I been paying for it, they cut me a check and asked, "What made you think about that?" WTF! Thats not it, the service dudes' prey on females. Once they said I had a nail in my tire, and it would cost $20 to take it out and seal it. I declined. I received my car and there wasn't even a nail in it. Then another time they said my light was out and needs to be replaced. How?? I declined again. Sure enough, my light was not out. After that, my Dad would take my car to get serviced, they didn't pay with his Veteran butt! After my lease was up, I returned the car and never looked back. Went to Friendly Honda for my PREPAID scheduled service on my 2021 CRV, This PREPAID service included an oil change and tire rotation and at the time of purchase, was a bargain to me. I arrived on time, checked in and they moved my car to a lot, from out the window I could see, The car sat there for over 75 minutes which was rather puzzling to me. There was a gouge on my right front tire that I wanted to be checked, Prior to my arrival, I marked the tire with white duct tape so the technician could inspect. Then finally, after the long delay they took in my car, And after about 20 minutes it was done, the fastest service I have ever experienced, by far! The service rep apologized for the delay and went through the checklist quickly so I was not further detained, Upon leaving, I checked the tire, the duct tape was gone but the gouge on that same tire still remained. I then realized that the tire rotation was simply not done, Quite shocked and dismayed I knew my next encounter was not going to be fun. I went back to the service desk to report my find, I was referred to the manager who seemed understanding and kind. I conveyed my concern and questioned what services they actually did provide, As the short time the car was in the shop compared to what was reported, did not coincide. The manager did check with the technician about the rotation, The manager indicated that the tech reported that the tires were rotated, according to their conversation. I was puzzled and asked how do I know that all the services were done? I was asked to open the hood and a visual inspection he had begun. The manager then checked the oil, he said it was clean, also checked the window washing fluid and claimed it was full, I stood there in awe, I felt he was giving me the bull. He then checked the cabin filter, to possibly prove a point to me Low and behold, it was filthy and clogged and quite dirty The manager apologized and explained that they were short staffed, In the meantime I felt I was getting the shaft. He took the car back and installed a new filter right away, Told me the filter and installation was on him and sent me on my way. I truly was disappointed that this experience happened to me. In April 2024, I worked with salesmen Howard and Adam. I had a 2007 Honda Civic which I had also purchased at Friendly Honda and was looking to upgrade, since I was over 230K miles. I went intending to test drive the HRV. A 2020 CRV hybrid had just come in on the lot. Howard and Adam were patient and helpful with me taking my time to decide and in the sales process. Friendly Honda has been helpful with the service needs I have had there. The key fob has had battery replacements twice, which to me feels frequent for how long I have had the vehicle. Besides that, the vehicle is a superb choice and great long term investment for me. I feel confident that I am getting trustworthy customer service when I go to Friendly Honda. read more

Never had anyone be so rude as Brianna, with the long black hair and black framed glasses who apparently does the car valet service. A very polite attendant directed me to go into the doors from the garage after waiting about 15 minutes sitting in my car, and said the advisor would be right there. I went into the first and only door I saw from where I was waiting and Brianna is the first person I see. I interrupted her gossip session with another employee. She stares at me with the most vile glare and doesn't say a word - like I had 3 horns coming out of my head. Still staring at me, I politely ask if she is the advisor the attendee had directed me to. In the rudest, flattest voice Brianna says, "YOU'RE IN THE WRONG AREA." I apologize and say "Oh, I'm sorry!" as I quickly try to find my way out. They don't stand behind their cars, and sell vehicles that are unsafe to drive. I bought a "certified pre-owned" vehicle from them that supposedly had just been inspected for safety. Turns out it actually suffers from a really common problem (for that model) with the braking sensor that causes it to randomly slam on the brakes on the highway (terrifying). I first experienced this less than a week after buying the car - they wouldn't even consider taking it back (or providing a permanent fix). Most major used car sellers (like carvana or enterprise) will take a car back within 7 days, no questions asked, but these folks won't even take one back if it turns out they sold a car that's unsafe to drive. I went to a dealership because I don't mind paying a premium for a safe, guaranteed car - if I wanted to roll the dice on whether basic safety features worked, I'd go to Craigslist. read more

Their service dept is the meanest and nastiest. I brought my car in for my yearly inspection. Went to sit in the waiting room and about 2 minutes later the lady in service named Stephanie P. in service comes in and hands me my key in a very rude and loud way and says "We will NOT be doing an inspection on your car" she said it so loud the whole room turned to look and stare. She made me feel like a criminal. When I asked her why they won't do an inspection she said it was because of tinted windows. This made me laugh I bought the car from them in 2017 and they have been doing my inspection since 2017 and never once have they said anything about my windows because I purchased the car like that. I spoke to Tim next and he was just as rude and nasty and demanded that I pay for them removing the tints or I can leave. I have never been treated that horribly in my life. They should have paid to remove their tints . I was about to purchase two more Honda's from them but with that I will never ever go there again. That was the worst and nastiest service I ever received. If I can give them a BIG fat ZERO I would. Then when my car was finally done with inspection Tim comes into the waiting room and says my first and last name so everyone would know who I am. I made an appointment to view a Jeep Wrangler that has been on their lot since October. I called on Friday inquiring about it and was told that it was available as they have had no interested parties. I made an appointment to sit with Laurie on Monday at 11:30. I was told that it would be ready and waiting. On Sunday, while discussing vehicles with a friend, she said the link to the vehicle was not working. I found that the vehicle was no longer on the website. I then called to inquire about the vehicle. Yes, it was sold. No, no one wanted to call me despite having an appointment to see that very vehicle the next morning. The sales person who confirmed it was sold tried to do some fast talking to get me into a Honda. No. I understand dealerships need to make money and sell vehicles. However, I had an appointment on the book at 11:30 on Monday. I cleared my day to see it. The appropriate thing to do would have been to call and advise me and ask if I still wanted to come in. I received multiple calls, texts, and emails from this dealership the minute I asked manual or automatic. But crickets when it comes to cancelling an appointment. I went 2 months ago for for A/C repair and recall for air bag, they wanted $1000 for repair of A/C not including compressor. I asked for the whole replacement price and it was $1200. I think they should have priced it both ways, I shouldn't have to ask. They also gave me an all clear "good" on brakes and tires, and within 2 weeks my brakes were grinding. Another 2 weeks later I did the brakes and rotors all the way around as inside rear drivers side and inside front passengers side pads were gone. Also noticed front passenger tire was worn bald on inside. I think the mechanic just checked everything was good and never actually inspected the vehicle. I owned 3 Hondas at the time and ended up going to Mahwah, NJ Honda to trade one in for a new Honda because I didn't trust them and will probably not return there. read more

I've now had the opportunity to add purchasing a car from Friendly to my experiences here, after servicing my previous car here for 11 years. Their service remains first rate. I still don't appreciate how strongly they encourage customers servicing their vehicles to pursue "a vehicle upgrade" (translation, buy a new car). I didn't initiate my new car purchase in that way. I started with an online service from which local Honda dealers would then call me with car availability and prices. Of the results, Friendly Honda called me back first and had the best fit, plus they beat the asking price. Part of that was because I bought a 2015 car when they were trying to clear the lot for 2016's. Their sales staff does adopt a more no-pressure approach, though you will, of course, get the sales staff enthusiasm: things like how everything is great about the car, everything you say is wonderful, etc.. When it came time to close the deal, including that inevitable visit to the sales manager, there were no high-pressure pitches. They simply showed me a list of options I could take, and a second list of optional extended warranties. They've also implemented Friendly Rewards, a program I will be using for this car, with discounts and perks. My overall experience with Friendly continues to be good. read more

Although the sales department may be good the service department here is a scam! We brought the car here as our 2016 CRV was making a noise and our mechanic looked over the car and said it was probably bearing or water pump. Either way- covered under warranty- so we should bring it to the dealer. Jim the mechanic at Friendly called us to let us know it wasn't a bearing but the tensioner belt. We had looked at the belts in the car before we dropped the car off and it was good. We told Jim that it wasn't that but he was pushy and assured us it was. We had to let him know what we wanted to do right that minute (after we wanted to call him back) as he was going to the back of the shop. He was short and rude on the phone with us. Well, we agreed to replace the belt to have the car done and surprise surprise, Jim called us back 20 mi it's later to say it wasn't the belt. BUT- we still had to pay for it. He then said that it was the the tensioner itself we had to replace. After his rudeness, we had our mechanic pick up the car and do a through inspection as it was obvious Friendly Honda was trying to scam us (or Jim was anyhow). It turns out it WAs the water pump. That is a part that is covered under warranty but because the dealership didn't do the repair we had to pay out of pocket. Although Friendly Honda is only miles from my house- I will never do sales or service calls there again. read more

I recently purchased a 2015 Honda CR-V LX,and I was very impressed with my sales woman Brandy Allen,she was very knowledgeable with any questions I had. She took her time with explaining all my options,and talked me thru the process of purchase.
