Not bad. I got the north shore bowl with tofu, brown rice, and namnam sauce. They didn't have purple cabbage so I got to choose a substitute. The bowl was pretty big! I felt pretty full, and the ingredients were fresh. The ratio of rice to toppings was a little much for me - I had a lot of rice left over. Service was pretty quick. There are about three tables in the small space so don't expect to find a seat. I wish they had a menu to hold in my hand because it was a little hard to read it above the cash register. The first time I tried Freshroll at their Metreon location in SF, I was immediately hooked! I remember I would get it delivered via Postmates to my office in FiDi, and if some of you remember, back then delivery fees were 40-50% of the entire order but that's how much I craved Freshroll! Since then, they've expanded with locations in FiDi and Union Square and finally, the East Bay. Now I can have my Freshroll fix on weekends too! You can't go wrong with their sandwiches and fresh bowls, but the star of the show are their freshrolls. I love my Vietnamese spring rolls and this is the only time I prefer the modern over tradition. They're packed with flavor AND you can customize to your liking. On a good day I am a big fan of fresh roll! Something that sets freshroll apart from other spring rolls it's it's ingenious crispy goodness. This brings me to my first big issue: they are regularly out of the crispy goodness but do not tell the customer. It isn't until I bite into my roll that I am filled with disappointment and slight rage. Additionally I find there are more inconsistencies where rolls will start falling apart from excess moisture. I got the Saigon Swag bowl with NamNam sauce and honey soy chicken. It was pretty good and all the ingredients felt clean and fresh. The flavors were also nice and I was definitely full at the end of the meal. My friend got the Seoul Sensation with FreshRed sauce and she said it was great as well! I'm glad to see there's finally a Freshroll in the east bay. The modernized Vietnamese spring rolls/Banh Mi sandwiches is very tasteful and filling. I got the tofu and mushroom freshroll and mushroom Banh mi sandwich and it was amazing. The bread is toasted perfectly and the namnam aioli sauce really puts everything together. Food+Price (3.5/5): My feelings about this place are very middle-ground. I feel like prices are Decent (around $11 post tax for a regular bowl) and more or less average to what one might spend on a meal near Berkeley's campus, especially on Southside. The portion size is pretty decent too -- definitely enough for my two guy friends and I too have a satisfying meal. The preset bowl options have a pretty nice array of "flavors", though we all just did "Build Your Own". The lime ponzu sauce was light and a nice addition to the vermicelli. My friend who got the "nam nam"(?) sauce said that it started off really good, but got a little much towards the end. My vegetarian bowl used the tofu as protein, and there were a decent number of chunks in my bowl woohoo! It was also pretty tasty and not super greasy, despite being fried. I got half mixed greens half vermicelli as my base. Ingredients were pretty fresh as well. Service+Ambiance (4/5): Super quick service when I went. We got our food in what felt like less than 5 min after we ordered! It's a small storefront, and they do offer tables to eat at, but I foresee most people getting togo and bringing onto campus as a quick lunch. Would hope to see more compostable togo containers/utensils in the future. General vibes was kind of like chipotle but more Asian. Ive tried the chicken freshroll and a chicken vermicelli bowl; I loved both! The chicken is well-cooked with a sweet teriyaki-tasting sauce. If you're having trouble picking a sauce, I would reccomend the Vietnamese vinaigrette. It tastes like the fish sauce you'd get at a Vietnamese restaurant with your vermicelli noodles. I think it goes well with the noodles, the chicken, and the mixed greens and cucumber (if you choose to get those toppings). The serving size is also good. Usually, at other restaurants, I'd pay $15 for a meal and would sometimes leave still feeling hungry. Here, you can spend about $10 and feel really full after. I have to admit, these last few days I have just been obsessed with Freshroll and for good reason because their food is fresh and their sauces are just amazing. I mean the aioli sauce is really good too but have you tried out their citrus ginger sauce? Tangy, citrusy kick that gives you the full impact of its flavor without that rich, heavy taste to it. Pair it with the rolls, pair it with the taro chips (which also gets a big thumbs up for its fresh taste, hardly any oil) and you're gold. This place is absolutely amazing. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and their all a hit. The NamNam sauce is particularly good, and I have a soft spot for the original Freshroll. Even the drinks, including the Vietnamese Coffee and Thai Tea are spectacular, and the taro chips are out of this world. Service is quick and the solution is very conveniently adjacent to campus. I had it for the first time today and I second another review by saying it will now be my go-to quick meal. I was very intrigued to visit fresh roll as I was hoping for really good spring rolls. I ordered the lemongrass pork and the chicken. I preferred the pork to the chicken. I did have to wait around 10 to 15 minutes for my order, but I hope that was due to new place and staff. I ordered peanut sauce but ended up with only vietnamese vinaigrette (good). I came in on a whim and the service was good and the atmosphere was refreshing! I got my bowl with tofu and all the toppings I could get without getting charged extra. It was delicious and I cannot recommend the Nam Nam sauce enough. The tofu was delicious and the serving size is incredibly generous and will ABSOLUTELY fill you up. This place is vegetarian friendly and I initially got the vibe that this would be like a Vietnamese poke place. That is NOT the case and the reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it seems stingy not to get 1-2 additional toppings and another sauce without getting charged close to a dollar PER topping. I guess I'm spoiled by the poke places here that will give you pretty much unlimited toppings. The price is decent if you don't add over their limit. Around 10 bucks for a bowl. The first time I had Freshroll I enjoyed it so much so I had it again recently, but my second visit was extremely disappointing. Not only did the portions decrease significantly, but they forgot to mix in the sauce in both mine and my friend's bowls. Instead, I had a bland vermicelli bowl which was pretty unappetizing. I also noticed my first time eating here that they aren't very consistent with their meat portions. Both my friend and I got lemongrass pork, but I was given about half the portion that my friend received. Given that the portions at freshroll have gone down since the first time I've had Freshroll, I probably won't come back unless I hear good things again. ~$11 a bowl isn't worth it if you're left feeling unsatisfied. read more

I walked in today(4/28) to pick up my order and there were so many flies inside the restaurant. I was feeling very iffy about the food after seeing that many insects near where a lot of the food was being cooked and packed up.
