Food is consistently good. Fish taste very fresh, staff always greet you when you come in, prices are fair for the area.

Chirashi

I loved this place! I got the chirashi bowl, which was so fresh. The mixture of fish types brought the whole bowl together. I got white rice, but you can get a mixture of salad and rice as well. The restaurant is pretty small so we brought the poke over to Gas Works park to eat at sunset and that was an amazing idea. Keep in mind you pay an extra 5 cents for chopsticks and 10-15 cents for soy sauce packets. I would love to try the other bowls next time!

Quaint little shop with cozy vibes that serves the freshest sushi for a fair price! What else can you ask for! Theres a bit of seating inside but could easily see this being more of a takeout spot during peak hours. I love that the chirashi has 2 pieces of each fish and includes eel! I'd say the portion size was perfect. Can't wait to keep coming back :)

If there was an option to rate 6 stars, I would. This place truly is a hidden gem in Seattle. Not only is the seafood great quality, but the price is unbeatable for anything else you will find in the area. I would recommend getting half rice and half salad, since the portions are actually a good size and I got a decent amount of rice from that option. I definitely plan to return next time I am in the area!

The chirashi bowl is super delicious!! Very worth the price. The fish tasted fresh and was tender. The yuzu mayo paired really well with everything in the bowl. The portions were also pretty solid and filling! The staff are quick with the orders! One thing is that there aren't many seats inside so we did takeout to avoid waiting for others to finish. Overall would definitely come back again for their poke bowls!

Chirashi Bowl

What an amazing find! Was craving sushi so ended up going to fremont bowl with a friend after the place being on my Seattle list for awhile! The fish was very fresh and the value of the chirashi bowl cannot be beat. The salmon was my favorite, very buttery and felt high quality. The entire set was under $20. For the amount of fish and how filling this meal was, I will definitely be coming back here to try their other items! Service was quick and easy with self ordering and self service water station. Ambiance gave me "quick bite to eat." Small place with not many tables but I could definitely see myself picking up from here and eating from the comfort of my own home. Very simple but fulfilling meal!

Fremont Bowl offers a variety of rice bowls, and I have had a chance to try a few of them over the past months. The chirashi bowl is definite must, as it is chock full of fish over well-seasoned rice. The mix included tuna, salmon, yellow tail, shrimp, eel, and roe, and was very fresh with great flavor and texture. Do add a bowl of miso soup - I love how they use a combo of white and red miso. The katsudon was a little different, as it was literally just a cutlet and rice. The cutlet was well prepared, but do not expect the traditional katsudon with egg. Ordering is done at the counter, and the food arrived quickly. Pricing is good for the quality. Definitely a good spot to get a donburi to dine in or to go.

Door Dashed Poke Bowl

DoorDashed from this place! I love Donburi Station in Georgetown, and this spot is likely a sister of that because the menu is identical. Great portions, good prices (inflated by DoorDash, likely), and delicious bowls. The Poke Bowl ($18ish on DD) was delicious. The fish was fresh, fatty, and came in large, satisfying chunks. The sauce was rich and flavorful. The rice it lies on was perfectly cooked and prepared. The bowl was packed very nicely with a separate compartment for the sauce. 5 stars for sure!

Salmon Poke

Came here for a quick Friday dinner and omg parking was a pain, but I got through it lol. Fremont bowl is a pretty small place, not a whole lot of seating, so I usually get takeout. I got the salmon poke to eat there. It comes with sauce on the side, so perfect for each person to decide how saucy they want it. The salmon itself are all super big chunks, crab and seaweed salad were simple but delicious additions to the whole bowl. Definitely one of my go to places for a delicious and simple meal.

Aburi Sake Don (seared salmon)

Great spot for lunch; it's not fancy, but that's not the point. It's a reliable spot you can go to for a good serving of Japanese comfort food -- be it a bowl of udon, or a rice bowl (don) with your choice of fresh sashimi grade fish. Chirashi is available, and by natural extension, you can also satiate your craving for poke. I love the simplicity of the menu -- especially with udon, where it's not trying to bedazzle you with all sorts of names that are essentially "tourist traps". A trip here always hit the spot

Daniel Y.

A great spot with great seafood without the great seafood price. Solid, fresh food, and great portions. The Chirashi Don is my go-to with tons of sashimi, letting you have a taste of everything without the fancy sushi bar price. Everything feels super clean and satisfying. It's a small place with quick, friendly service. Perfect for a chill lunch or dinner. Go early or perhaps not during peak hours, but if not, it'll still be worth the wait

Chirashi & Miso Soup

- - ~ * I would fly back for this! * ~ - - I got the chirashi bowl and miso soup, and let me tell you, THE FISH WAS SO GOOD! I usually hate tuna because it taste rubbery, but it was soft and buttery here. The bowl is only $20! I would skip on the miso soup though because it just tasted like hot water with tofu.

I visited Fremont Bowl as my 8th spot for katsu curry over the last two months. This restaurant is a little special - they don't actually have katsu curry on the menu, but you can kind of cobble it together by ordering a chicken or pork katsu donburi + a side of pork curry. I visited on a snowy Saturday for lunch and there was only two other customers the entire time I was there. Crispy Tonkatsu Don ($14.50) - Fremont Bowl is very generous with the amount of meat they provide. Most places give only a single small piece of pork loin with a curry meal; Fremont Bowl, on the other hand, provides two pretty substantial pieces of meat, cut into seven strips (rather than 4 or 5 for other places), allowing the patron to better pace out the meal. The pork itself is cooked well, and while not exceptionally juicy and tender, isn't dried out at all. Neither the pork nor the breading is seasoned that heavily, allowing the natural flavors of the pork to shine. Since this is a loin cut, there's just a small bit of fat membrane to one side of the cut, but most of it is trimmed off before cooking. The fat portion is tender and is almost indistinguishable against the rest of the meat. The breading is decent. It's fried until it's pretty crispy, not as flaky as a pure panko breading, but not as crunchy as say cornflakes. The bottom that touches the rice gets a little soggy, and the breading is able to separate from the meat in some portions. The breading gets the job done, but doesn't quite reach some of the other katsu curry places I visited. Still, the cook is pretty good and overall it's a very good tonkatsu for a restaurant that doesn't specialize in this dish. The katsu comes on a pretty substantial portion of rice that exhibits basically the perfect cook. Even though it's a medium grain rice, it's cooked with the ideal amount of water, resulting in rice with a moisture level that's neither soggy nor dried out, and is fluffy with great mouthfeel. It's a bit sticky, but each grain is still quite distinct and flavorful. Now I know this is a donburi shop, but I wish these katsu dishes were served on a plate instead. This would help keep some of the crisp on the tonkatsu and allow more even portioning between rice, meat and curry, without having to first eat a couple of pieces of meat. The dish comes with a small cup full of ponzu, helpful to add vinegar and citrus notes, especially if the dish is ordered by itself. I, of course, opted to get a side of pork curry. Side Pork Curry ($4.95) - This is a pretty nice Japanese curry. It's cooked down until quite thick - more viscous than a gravy, but not quite to the point of being a gel. The curry flavor is quite strong, but not overpowering and not overly salty. There's bits of tender pork, well shredded, mixed into the curry, amplifying the meatiness and savoriness. The curry isn't very sweet and there's a bit of a tangy element that comes through as the curry spices dissipate. I feel like this is boxed curry mix but Fremont Bowl adds enough extra spices and ingredients to really make it their own. The curry is served in a small gravy boat and unfortunately isn't supplied in nearly enough quantity for the amount of meat and rice included in the donburi. I think two orders are required to fully encompass the main dish. The only real thing missing is fukujinzuke, but instead of pickles, Fremont Bowl includes a couple of shishito peppers on the donburi. Overall Food Rating: 4.5/5 I actually had some leftovers to take home after finishing my meal. That's not something I can say for most restaurants I've visited in Seattle, and it's the first katsu curry place that I've had leftovers from. Coming into Fremont Bowl, I thought it would serve average to below average curry. I was really surprised when it came out near the top of my rankings. For a restaurant that doesn't actually have katsu curry on the menu, they serve a very solid Japanese curry. I really wish they had a dish on the menu with rice, one piece of tonkatsu, and a double order of the pork curry, served on a plate rather than in a bowl!

Ask the Community - Fremont Bowl

When will dine-in open up again?

Dine-in is now back and available!

Is the chirashi no longer available for delivery? I'm not seeing it here or in doordash?

Gluten free options?

Yes! They are great for gluten free. For example, I order the charashi bowl and indicated / mark in the comments that I'm GF, and they replace the stuff with gluten (like unagi) and include GF soy sauce packets!

Is their Fremont location back open for dining in? My favorite dish is the seared salmon bowl which they don't offer for takeout.

Nope. When I stopped in for take-out this week (Jan 15), they were not yet doing dine-in

Are the take out containers compostable? Thx!

I don't believe they are. The material appears to be like typical thin plastic sushi containers, which may be recycled when clean.

Anybody know if they have high chairs?

🙄 no

So what's the consensus on eating here after the salmonella outbreak and failing of inspection in ~mid 2018? 🤔

The sign outside the door says Needs Improvement but I read the online inspection reports and they've passed all of the reports since the issues in the summer that led them to close temporarily.

Did anyone hear about the salmonella outbreak recently?

Yes, you can read the official report at https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health/communicable-diseases/disease-control/outbreak/fremont-bowl-2018-08-10.aspx. They were inspected, advised what they needed to do, shut down briefly due to their alleged… Read more

Located in a pretty central part of Fremont, it offers a lot in its location. Gas Works park is only about a 10 - 15 minute walk from here which is great! Street parking may be difficult so I suggest looking at the the nearby neighborhoods for parking. The restaurant itself is quite small so I suggest a reservation if you are planning to visit during a busy weekend night which we did. The menu offers a great selection of entrees and we decided to share the tuna dinner and the salmon dinner which came full with nigiri, a roll and sashimi. We also shared a roll in additional to the salmon and tuna dinner. Each entree was perfect to share because there were two of each kind of nigiri on each plate. We were very happy with the quality of the fish and I could not decide which entree I preferred more. The service was not super memorable but I do not remember being unhappy with it either. The price point was quite reasonable for the quality. I was very happy and will be back!

Service: The waiter was friendly and provided recommendations for food. He ensured my water glass was always full. Even the sushi chefs checked in to see if I was enjoying my food. Food: I would recommend starting with a cup of green tea, miso soup, and edamame. I enjoyed all the rolls I had, which were the Hamanegi (yellowtail), Negitoro (fatty tuna), the salmon avocado roll, and the Fremont roll (spicy, with shrimp tempura, avocado, tuna, and salmon as main flavors). If you are looking for something light, go for the standard rolls. If you're looking for something filling, go for the chef's special rolls.
