Squash blossom pizza

Delicious, intimidate spot for vegan dinner. Stopped since our dear Plot is no more. Found street parking no problem, seated right away, and shared a pizza. Definitely adding it to our list for when we are in the area.

The best vegan restaurant in OC, and maybe even in all of the surrounding counties! This is a scratch vegan kitchen with everything made in house without using any animal products at all. No not even honey is used up in here, but somehow they're able to make their sweets taste sweet, and I mean the right kind of sweet! There are a good amount of different types of items from ramen, to pizza, and both are really good, but their panini sandwiches are my favorite! The meat substitutes pretty much taste just like deli sliced ham. And their Key Lime Pie is amazing! I don't know how they make that whipped cream, but they were able to make it taste just like the real thing! A definite must to finish your meal!

Truffle burger and double vanilla latte
Yau-Ru C.

Honestly...I have only tried the truffle burger here every single time I am here...and it's absolutely perfect. I am not vegan so I order it for the wonderful flavor and texture. The side salad is a nice touch, and their double vanilla bean latte is quite good. I am not sure if I will ever venture out and try their other menu items...because the truffle burger is sooooo good!

Seriously one of the best Vegan spots in OC!! I stopped by the other day with my friends who is Vegan and tho I have been to Vegan places before, Im not a Vegan myself. Of course this doesnt mean I dont enjoy Vegan food! On the contrary I think their flavor and the options you get here are superb. My friend ordered a mushroom panini, the roasted cauliflower and roasted strong beans to share. They were DELICIOUS. I have no idea what the sauce they added to the string beans had but OMG they were phenomenal. The service was really friendly, I had a Vanilla Latte which I truly enjoyed. I lesrned they made this w soymilk and u would never even know they did it tasted so creamy and full. Im really looking forward to going back soon. They have a really nice i side decor and the pattio area has a little fountain. Truly enjoyable and really great prices too! Public parking is available across the st!

Panini Poulet
Jennifer H.

The food quality here is so good, and the meat alternatives are all so convincing that I would not be able to tell that they are vegan. I tried the Panini Poulet, which was so balanced and delicious, with the pickled carrots and daikon providing the perfect crunch and acidity to the sandwich. Loved the side salad that came with it, especially the candied walnuts. Enjoyed the ambiance and outside seating as well, but had to take off a star because someone in my party got their food over half an hour after everyone else.

I love taking my lady friend here when she's in town. Even though I'm not Vegan I love the food. Everyone here is so nice.

Truffle Burger

Absolutely DELICIOUS! We came in a Monday afternoon for a late lunch. The place wasn't too busy. We were seated quickly, served iced waters and placed our orders in less than 10 minutes. Once we ordered, it did not take long for our food to be delivered. Service was definitely friendly and efficient. SUPERB! Truffle Burger: 4/5 Burger was very hearty. The truffle was very good and the aiola sauce was the chef's kiss. I wish it came with fries, but the mixed greens salad side was definitely the healthier option. Panini Portobello: 5/5 Sourdough bread was lightly toasted, crunchy, and a little chewy. The filling (artichoke, portobello, sun dried tomatoes, etc) was so good. My favorite dish on the menu! Cafe Granita: 5/5 It was creamy and icy and absolutely refreshing! This was perfect for an afternoon drink on a sunny day. The espresso flavor was not too strong. It was not too sweet. It was truly the perfect combination of sweetness and boldness (from the espresso). We are coming back again to try other items on the menu!

BLT sandwich with tomatoes and vegan bacon.

Located in Tustin on Main Street is Freesoulcaffe. Standing on the sidewalk, facing the establishment, it was a wonderful view. You see, the building is covered in bricks and had an opening in the entryway that I found lovely. I opted for sitting outside as the weather was nice and so was the outdoor decor. I ordered the BLT sandwich that came highly suggested by the waiter. All I can say is, love is the most nutritional ingredient and love was all in the details. The lettuce was crisp and the vegan bacon was nice. Next time, I look forward to trying their salads and soups that are soy free. Perhaps even one of their specialty pizzas. Everyone was ever so friendly and the service was wonderful. "Light a fire in you that the world cannot put out!"

My vegan friend loves this place. My favorite is potato pizza. You should definitely try it!! All of their food is great!

FSC breakfast sandwich
Melanie G.

We went on a Saturday at their opening (9am) and it wasn't busy at all! They won't seat you until your full party is there though. It's an aesthetic and more upscale setting! I got the FSC breakfast sandwich which was really good. It was flavorful because the veggie bacon was smoky and because of the savory romesco sauce. Bread was oiled and grilled to a nice crisp, while still having a nice chew to it. Sandwich is filling too because it also has tofu, bell peppers and spinach! Great mix of ingredients for a sandwich. Looking forward to coming at another meal time to try some of their other dishes!

Amber D.

The place is really nice in a cute area of Tustin. My guy has been here before but I hadn't so we decided to go. I had the potato pizza and he had the vegan veggie sausage. The crust was good but I didn't like the white sauce on mine. I tasted a slice of his and really wish I had ordered that instead. The server was friendly .

Cochinita Pibil: When you unwrap the banana leaves, the prize is the pork shoulder that has been smoked for 12 hours. Grab some of the insanely tender pork with the warm and supple blue corn tortillas. Add some achiote-sour orange braising juice, pickled onions and watermelon radishes. Top it with the avocado puree and salsas. Also add some black charred habanero sauce, whose fiery heat puts this dish over the top. Pulpo al Guajillo: The grilled octopus is lightly charred and crispy, and nice and meaty on the inside. The garbanzo bean puree is like the smoothest creamiest hummus. The diced chayote is similar to young potatoes with a little crunch. Crumbled red chorizo enhances the savoriness of the ingredients. And the hoja santa gremolata is a medley of green herbal flavors. Ceviche Campeche: The cubes of striped bass and octopus are delicate and soft, combined with yellow and red cherry tomatoes, onions, cilantro, scoops of avocado, avocado mousse, cucumber, watermelon radish, and leche de tigre. The zing from the lime juice and the crunch of the blue tortillas makes for a perfect bite. Tamal Colado: This is a deconstructed tamal. The masa is molded into a slender rectangular block. The consistency of the masa is like pudding, just really soft and creamy. Chile braised lamb shank is placed on the masa. Then, an herby tangle of carrot tops and sorrel leaves go on top. On either side are clumps of crunchy cucumber-mint xni pek and silky hazelnut muhammara. Parrillada Yucatan: If you are still hungry, this mixed grill plate will do the job. The prime skirt steak is exquisitely cooked, so soft, moist, and tender. The smoked sausage has a wonderful flavor and is a little spicy. Pollo pibil has a dry rub of achiote and sour orange, and it gives a nice smoky kick. Chuuk Trio: This appetizer plate features sikil p'ak (a dip of pumpkin seeds), guacamole, and salsa. We were a table of 8 and we wanted to try several dishes since my family is from Yucatan and the food is supposed to be classic from the area. Some of the dishes have a good influence like the relleno negro, salbutes and some sauces. Tortillas were very good, pulpo was amazing. The pibil was not an authentic flavor and it is one of the most classic ones from Yucatan, but it was not bad, I was just expecting a classic flavor. Empanadas were very good and salbutes were tasty. The New York steak was good, great option to share for like 4 people. It was a good meal overall with SOME of the dishes with an influence of Yucatan flavors, but I guess if you are not familiar with it, it is not a problem because it was tasty. Very slow service, a bit frustrating, also long wait to be seated. If our order wouldn't have taken so long it would have been an amazing experience because the food was good with a beautiful presentation and the place is very nice.

Plated very nicely, visually appealing. BULGOGI KIMCHI FRIED RICE, fried eggs, gochujang, green onion furikake, pickled radish, cilantro, I give 4/5, overall I enjoyed this plate, but I do feel the beef could have been slightly stronger in terms of flavor? The rice was holding all the spices and taste. DULCE DE LECHE FRENCH TOAST, crème fraîche chantilly, brûléed banana, chocolate sauce, maldon salt, I would give 5/5, presentation was beautiful, taste wise I really enjoyed it, had a very good balance of sweetness and not too strong. The service, however, was pretty slow, and some of the servers came across rude. Thankfully our server Josh was cool, funny, and probably the highlight of the service experience. I ordered the Chilean sea bass while my sister and mom both got steak. We also shared shrimp and a salad, but they brought out the tiniest plates imaginable for sharing. By the time dessert came around, things took a turn for the worse. I suddenly had to make a full sprint to the restroom and let's just say... my dinner did not survive the evening. When your stomach starts rumbling like distant thunder over the Pacific, there's no "I'll wait until I get home." Restaurant restroom it was. Since everyone shared everything except my fish, I'm assuming the sea bass may have been the culprit because I was the only one who got sick. Unfortunately, it didn't stop once I got home either. I wanted to share some comprehensive feedback regarding a recent experience, aiming to highlight both your successes and areas where further refinement could elevate the customer journey even further. First and foremost, I must commend your team for their exceptional warmth and hospitality. From my initial phone call to the moment I picked up my order, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. This level of customer service, which often feels lacking in many establishments today, truly sets American Grub apart. It creates a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhances the overall experience, and I sincerely hope this commitment to friendliness remains a cornerstone of your operation. However, I encountered a couple of points that, in my personal opinion, warrant consideration for improvement. Regarding the payment process, I felt a degree of apprehension about providing my credit card details over the phone. While I understand the operational need to secure orders and prevent potential losses, particularly for larger transactions, for a single item like my bacon cheeseburger, priced at $17.24 including tax, this practice felt somewhat disproportionate. I also noted the 99-cent fee for online payments, which, while minor, might deter some customers who are seeking convenience without additional charges. Perhaps exploring alternative secure payment links for phone orders or adjusting the fee structure for smaller transactions could enhance customer comfort and streamline the process. My primary concern, however, arose upon returning home. Despite ordering a bacon cheeseburger, I discovered the burger completely lacked bacon, as well as any form of sauce or mayonnaise. This oversight had a significant impact on the meal; the absence of these core components rendered the burger quite bland and far from the experience I had anticipated. When ordering a single item, the expectation for meticulous attention to detail is particularly high, as there are fewer variables. Consequently, the overall value of the meal, given the missing ingredients, was not quite met on this occasion. I did reach out to the owner privately via email to discuss these points, and I appreciate their responsiveness and transparency in addressing my feedback, particularly concerning the rationale behind the phone payment policy. It is reassuring to know that your business is open to customer input. My hope is that these observations can serve as constructive input, allowing American Grub to continue refining its excellent service and product quality. I remain a supporter of your local endeavor and look forward to seeing these aspects addressed. Thank you for reaching out. To clarify, all my reviews and communications are crafted solely from my personal experiences and genuine perspectives, not AI. Every word and insight you read is authentically mine, driven by my commitment to provide honest feedback. Even though the review was long..(lol) I wanted to make sure the details are accurate and understandable. The space itself is small, intimate, and beautifully designed. You can feel the passion in every corner, it's not just decor, it's intention. Now, the food... incredible. The bread with ham butter was amazing, honestly tasted like it was baked in house. It could have been? The apple pear frisée salad was the perfect start; light, balanced, and flavorful with just the right touch of sweetness. The shrimp was incredibly fresh, generously sized, and paired with delicate slices of garlic that brought everything together beautifully. The chicken en bravas was a standout super tender, falling off the bone, with a rich sauce that was absolute perfection. And the Basque cheesecake... easily one of the best I've ever had. Light, not overly sweet, just perfectly executed. Service was just as impressive, genuine, attentive, and seamless. Constant water refills, thoughtful plate changes, and a level of care that elevated the entire experience. It almost feels wrong calling this just a "restaurant." Absolutely amazing. To start off once you get inside the bistro they keep it very fresh with natural light. It reminds me of what Javier's in Newport did with their semi outdoor revamp. The light is plentiful, it makes things open, more social. I love it. Our host was great in getting us a table, she was very kind. It also wasn't long before our waiter came by, I liked how the attentiveness was so quick. I came for brunch, so the menu itself isn't as plentiful with options as the dinner menu but there's something for everyone which I liked. It was 1pm but pancakes and French toast were still an option for appetizers, so I took a wild card and got the lemon ricotta pancakes and the baklava French toast which isn't pictured but we ate it all so quick I didn't get time to snap one. Both were EXTREMELY good, every single person who dipped their fork into the starters had something good to say, the airy lemon flavor with the light ricotta on the fluffy pancakes and the more sweet and soft feeling of the French toast. The braised short rib was extremely tender, I had some expectations for it since it is one of the highest priced options on the menu, and they knocked it out of the park. The hash browns and sauce on the bottom added that little extra kick you needed to complete a fork-full. The salad, I would have preferred just a little less dressing, but not close to even complaining about, it tasted great. I took it upon myself to walk through the back and get to the other side where the cafe is and grab some pastries, the pumpkin cheesecake and a matcha, a wonderful way to end the experience here. Service was amazing, the openness of the restaurant made things feel more social and upbeat, food was amazing on all ends, it's a really nice restaurant I wish I knew about sooner.
