The lack of coordination of the solar team and the utility team is mind boggling. Added to that, little is communicated with the home owner of what is being done. Our house requires electrical panel upgrades. The work requires the utility company (PGE) to come out and work the underground box. Both teams came out first time but could not locate the box so they left without informing me of what happened! A few months went by, and both teams came out again. This time they located the box, but since it was not cleared of dirt and trees and bushes, they left again. Fortunately they told me why and now it's my responsibility to clear the area for them to open the "box". Don't know when they are coming out again because neither team could set the date! read more

These people are committing consumer fraud. On January 24, 2024, I paid $40,444.80 to a solar company called Freedom Forever (FreedomForever.com) (CSLB #1029644) for solar services, including design and obtaining a city permit in Hayward. As of today, August 1, 2024, almost eight months have passed, and they have not provided any service. I'm stuck paying both the bank loan and my electricity bill, which is around $1,200 per month. This experienced started out very positive but it has all gone downhill. The company took my money and installed the panels quickly -- but now it has been THREE months and I am still not able to operate my panels! Because of an error on their part - the panels failed the first inspection and it took over a month to have someone come out and address the issue -- now it has been another 2 months of back & forth with NO resolution in sight. I had been trying to call FF for about a month. I would be out on hold for an hour and then sent to voicemail. No one ever called me back. I needed a document for my taxes, which I was late filing because I didn't have it. When I finally reached them, they told me I could have retrieved the document through my portal. I was like,"what portal"? I was never informed of this. I don't recommend them because it's so difficult to get through on the phone. read more

The only thing they are saying is "we will do reimbursement" and even penny I never seen a refund. The salesperson wrote me a contract that guaranteed 10,969 kWh that I signed in July 2021. Due to staff that didn't understand the requirements for APS (my power company) it wasn't installed and turned on until December 2021. One year later I contacted Freedom Forever to let them know that my guaranteed amount was not met. They told me that the year wasn't over until the end of December 2022. So I looked at the annual production for 2022 and it was 9,964. That's 1,004 less than what was guaranteed. I asked again in early January 2023 how many panels they would be adding and received this response: "At this time we are currently experiencing a longer than usual processing time. However, please be assured that the results will be provided as soon as they are available." I contacted them again in early Feb and received the same response. Now it's March. What's the holdup? I think I'm going to have to take them to court to get anything done. Should have used someone else. read more

Customer service SUCKS BUTT. Amazing that a company holding $18k of my money would not be more attentive. Spend an hour on the phone to have it randomly hang up. A woman, supposedly my project manager, gave me her phone number so I "wouldn't have to go through that again," but the number will ring 5 times then play a message that the voicemail hasn't been set up. There is a chat on their website that appears to be a human, but it doesn't respond after the initial "How may I assist you?" message. The initial install appointments were always late, always rescheduled. They left a panel in my back yard and moved me on to the "install approval" phase. I had to tell them more than once that there was a panel in my yard they hadn't installed yet. Their customer portal is done well. It remains to be seen how useful it is once solar is running. My installation was approved over a month ago, but my "few days to few weeks" to get running has turned into a month. read more

The only star the company gets is for the salesperson. The install was a complete disaster....the crew left holes jn my walls, screws all over my garage floor where i park (twice), razor blades on my backyard concrete overnight. The install crew smoked, used foul language clearly seeing we had kids. Totally unprofessional!!! To top it all off they ended up breaking 50!! Yes 50 tiles in all different areas on my roof. The worst part is that we were never told about it. I hired a roof cleaner for a job who told me it looked like someone played a football game in my roof.... three weeks later and a couple storms later. Brand new home by the way. Signed paperwork November and now were at our first failed inspection on 4/8...not surprised at all. Judging from the reviews i wish i read before going with freedom, looks like i will be looking at August before i produce anything. Trapped in a nightmare. We were talked into including an EV charger in our project with strong assurances that we could easily remove it from the plan at any time. Simply deleting the EV charger from our project resulted in a one year delay in getting the system operating. Instead of compensating us for the massive delay, Freedom Forever tried to charge us $5,000 extra. Any attempt at communicating with them is a horrible drawn out ordeal. read more

I regret using this company for my solar. I went with them bc I wanted the solar panels on a rack and they said they could do that. It cost 34,000. For 20 solar panels when it became clear they had not used enough panels and I called them they did not respond until I called the BBB. Their warranty means nothing! Thieves!The installation was very bad the panels were facing the wrong way and the trenches were in the wrong place. The workers were mad I said anything and became threatening. When I was finally able to talk to someone they did not help and seemed to enjoy ripping off seniors. Wish I knew then what I know now. Freedom forever point of contact also went silent when I asked them to hold any payment to their marketing partner. Looks like they work together and go silent after project completion. Would like to give the install team "the scorpions" 5 stars for their clear communication and great execution of installing the solar panels on my roof In redlands. They started the 14th and came back to finish the 16th Esteban was always ensuring the crew was following safety procedures and Joshua was very friendly and clear on answering my questions I had on the equipment. Steven and Jim were great about making sure the work area was clean at the end of the day and all in all it was a job well done. We are still awaiting the follow up panel team to come upgrade our panel and connect the equipment and If They are as smooth as the roof team was. tldr: I paid $18k months ago for panel installation completed Dec 2022 and as of 3/20/2023 Freedom won't turn on my panels. My project has been complete since Dec 2022 (per an email from Freedom) but has not been turned on by Freedom. After I completed the final part of the project myself (requesting the PTO, which they said they would do) in February, Freedom sent an email saying my panels were on and functional. The panels were turned off a few days later and my panel company Enphase said it's because Freedom hadn't "completed the installation." My "Monitoring Administrator" is Derrick Austin and he hasn't answered any of my emails or calls for weeks. They told me last week via a 30 minute call that I have an outstanding invoice from November 2022 - which can't be true because they couldn't start work until I paid the first invoice (and deposit), totaling $18k. They seem to only respond to negative feedback so hopefully this will get the ball rolling. I have emails to support all of this. The only helpful person so far has been my rep Dylan, but he's an independent dealer, not a Freedom employee. They won't answer his emails either. read more

They replaced it but don't want to cover The $354 duke energy bill-- which I can't afford on top of my $215 finance bill for the system. The sales pitch guy was great answered all my questions days night untill i was ready o the pull the trigger on it. Everything was great untill the install. the install was done by a bunch of hacks. panels were uneven and falling, gutters were full of hardware drill bits and piece of roofing material. and ever since install i am still dealing with the fact its not producing what they say they should be. its just been one problem after another ever since install. if i could do it all over again, i would never use forever freedom. read more

We started the whole process sep of 2021 and the whole project still hasn't been completed yet. I have to personally chase them for updates from time to time so that they would send someone to do the installation one the time. Great initial service, had my solar panels installed weeks after I signed but everything's gone downhill since. My first city inspection not only had a timing mishap (the city inspector came but no one from Freedom was onsite) and luckily the inspector was reasonable and came back later in the day but it failed. The city said the installation was done incorrectly and my panel would eventually burn out. Freedoms resolution to this was to take a month and half to "update paperwork" which led to another failed inspection. Now 2 failed inspection later, 20+ calls, 20+ "I am going to open a ticket" response, no call backs, I received an update (after I called in) that Freedom has "updated my paperwork" to pass the inspection. Unbelievable! If you want very expensive decorative solar panels for your roof, this is the place to go. read more

This is the worst company my husband and I have ever dealt with. From start to finish dealing with these people has been a nightmare. Currently we have been without solar for 6 months due to a failed inverter. We have scheduled multiple appointments to fix our system to get it up and running. Each time we are scheduled the repair person doesn't show, doesn't call, doesn't apologize or offer any explanation so we have to call again schedule again and wait again only to be disrespected again. When we call it's like we have never called before. There is no record of past conversations not tracking and no accountability from this company. They actually owe us money that they keep dodging their way out of paying. What a bunch of dishonest, disrespectful, charlatans! We have been paying for a solar system and also skyrocketing utilities bills with no offer of remedy from this company. This was the worst decision we ever made choosing these people to do business with. I expect they will not respond and not change! My advice is to go elsewhere for your solar needs! Install was done quickly after signing up, (May) but the 1st inspection was not scheduled until July when we called them. They blamed it on the City, but the City never got a request. The 1st inspection they messed up and had to come the next day because their schedulers didn't verify the time with the city. The install failed twice. Freedom Forever is the worst solar company out there. There panels were not working for 10 months without my knowledge. The reason I found out they were not working was when my PG&E bill came in at $1,100.00 and the next month came in at $600.00. This was explained to me by PG&E not Freedom Forever because of NEM charges due to the panels not working. I called Freedom twice before they came and repaired them. Freedom admitted to me they dropped the ball. They still haven't reimbursed me for these high NEM charges that they were responsible for. It's been 2 months and still nothing from Freedom. Final edit: I updated to 5 stars as things have worked out well. Mary was very helpful in solving some of the issues we had. Our system is now fully operational (as of 8/25). --- We're having a mixed experience, but with some similarities to others. We went for a roof + solar installation. The roof came out great and the contractor was very good and thorough. No complaints there. The solar installation also went well. The crew had some delays so they were a day late. But (without asking for it) we got a check from FF for the inconvenience. So kudos for that. However, reading these reviews I am worried about the next steps. It's been about 2 months now since the installation of our panels and there's been no movement on inspection - even though according to the city's website inspections are done the next day (not sure about PG&E). We were told the wait is for the city inspection, but that doesn't make sense given what the city says. We also need a ground rod connected before inspection, which leads me to think the issue is more with FF installer's availability than with the city. Once our system is actually up and running it may be a different story. Will update this review when appropriate. Edit: We were contacted by FF and things are moving forward again. The sales representative for Apricot Solar, Mark Shanks, promised me $2800 for all of the hassle trying to coordinate these two companies and delayed timelines. Both companies are now ducking me and not sticking to the promise of $2800. Freedom Forever sent me $1006, but NOBODY will take responsibility for the other $1800! I'm a single mother of 2 children and feel completely taken advantage of. I have the $2800 promise via text that I have emailed to BOTH companies as well. Signed a contract in early Jan 2019. Didn't get them installed until sept 2019. There excuse was that they had too much business and couldn't get there contractors out fast enough. Once installed there control panel had to be replaced 2 times. Had a roof inspection when selling my home that found multiple problems with my roof due to freedoms install. Tried to get them to come out to fix the problem before sale went through and again there contractors were over booked and could not make it. I had to submit the bill and have them pay me back which took 2 more months. Ended up selling my house July 2020. It took them and loanpal 2mnths to transfer the paperwork for them to stop calling me and telling me that I still owed them monthly payments. Shopped for solar with my new house same city. Got a bigger system with a better warranty and better equipment for less money. It was installed in less than 2 months FYI it was Optimal Solar. ( great company) Do not use freedom.
