I love to shop at fred meyer and have for years, I have complained about this before by calling the manager but nothing ever changed as I found out today. I went to the deli and notice that one if the gentleman working was ringing customers up and handling money with gloves on and then never changed gloves and processed to help customers with food products from the deli. Their customer service is terrible. They price marked an item for $83.99 it turns out it was $249.99 when I asked an employee to price check it. He said he would honor it as $83.99. Then the rude garden manager, said no it's labeled clearly...yeah so clear your employees got it confused. Continued to make excuses, why it was marked wrong...we have new employees, I can give you 10% off. When I said forget it, I don't want it she got up and left, so I bought my other items and proceeded to leave...she came back for a second run, saying "it's too cheap...I can't do it for that cost" understood but continued to argue with me, where I had to just walk away to defuse the situation. When your employees don't know the cost of an item and the manager says it's clearly marked, how clear is it when your own employees said they're not sure and they'd give it to you at that cost. It seems to me the U-Scan at Fred Meyer has been reprogrammed to shoplift from the customers. Since I have heard the cashiers hate the U-Scan machines, I would be surprised if the horrible software is anything other than a way to get customers to give up on U-Scan. Cashiers seem to think they have a divine right to crush, mangle, fold, spindle and mutilate your groceries, as well as interrogate you as to WHY you want SO MUCH water or WHAT you are going to do with the cooler you are purchasing. How long until they pull you aside for a full cavity search for buying a second tube of toothpaste? When I scan one of the water bottles in my cart, put it on the scale, scan the next one and bag it, scan the third one and then get stopped with "Please scan the item before placing it in the bag" or some such nonsense, it's frustrating. I took one bottle out so the U-Scan would allow me to continue. I checked the screen and found I was being charged for THREE bottles but it had only allowed me to put ONE in the bag. I was pissed but I assumed that register was defective and left the register, waited in line again and went to another U-Scan register. The second U-Scan did better at first but then SHOPLIFTED me again, trying to charge me for 8 bottles of water and give me 7. Considering all the ways Kroger (Fred Meyer's parent) seems to heap scorn on their customers, with blasting music, aisles crowded with extra displays of crap, shelves obscured with hanging extra displays of crap, a rapidly decreasing selection of anything but store brand junk and some of the most hostile customer service employees I've ever seen, I have no desire to ever shop at a Kroger store (Fred Meyer, QFC in this area) again, given the choice. I have an idea for you: Fire your idiot employees, starting with the C-suite. Automate EVERYTHING that can be automated. Employee only adults and pay them a fair, living wage of GREATER THAN (since Yelp doesn't allow the GREATER THAN character because Google couldn't program their way off the toilet) $22/hr. Increase selection, lower prices, carry only responsible products that don't kill customers or the world. read more

The checkers at this store are SOOOOOOOO slow! Combine that with the fact that they only put 1-2 items in each bag and I usually spend 20/30 minutes in line - almost the same amount of time I actually spend shopping. It's so frustrating. Also, this store is laid out way differently than any other FM I've been to. It's very strange - the cheese is in one aisle, the yogurt in another, and still the milk in another. It makes no sense. I was shopping for Instacart here, at 11 am April 2nd I had two separate orders and was scanning at the self checkout. My first order only contained 7 items so I used one bag for that order and forgot to put 1 bag for 8 cents. I started scanning for my next order and while I was in the process of scanning and bagging my second order the worker that was working the self checkout came and started looking at my receipt that I had placed next to me and literally yelled at me for not paying for the bags. I don't even know why she felt the need to check my receipt without asking, I scanned all my items and I forgot to purchase the 8 cent bag. The order was not even for me I was delivering it for Instacart so I was not trying to get out of paying 8 cents for a bag. She yelled at me and told me she was going to ban me from this Covington Fred Myer for EIGHT CENTS. I would of gaven her a whole dollar. Her attitude and how she handled the situation was not okay. I only gave her attitude back because she was extremely rude. I wish I had gotten her name and stayed and actually talked to a manager. That is not how you handle those situations. The delivery person added a package of beef cubes for 11.23, in place of my sour cream which I did not receive, and they changed my original order, bringing my total to 60 some dollars plus the 9 dollar delivery fee and then they wanted a tip. They did not knock on the door , leaving frozen food and ice cream to melt. I Regularly go to Fred Meyer Gas in Covington WA before I go to work. I pay in cash-always. This morning the young girl attendant was doing other dutes outside the cage where you pay. She never looked up and never addressed me-I had to leave and find another gas station so I wouldn't be late. Every job has areas that are not your favorite-but you still need to do them,we all do. Fred Meyer has made some nice changes over the years and I appreciate how they've increased their selection of organic and natural products. They've also rearranged their store so that the natural products can be easily found. Since COVID, I've been utilizing their pick up service and it's been great! The employees that load up your car have always been friendly and courteous and I haven't had issues to date. It's easy to use their app to purchase the products you want and pick a slot for pick up. They also send you a message if the product is out of stock and if you want a substitute for that item. The app is awesome for this service. You can easily check-in that you're on your way and once you arrive, you just click on the "I'm here" button and enter your stall number. It's a convenient system and they've organized it well. If you do end up picking a popular time slot, you might end up waiting a bit especially if there's only 1 person loading up the cars. I don't mind waiting for this service but expect about a 10-15 min wait when they're busy. read more

This used to be my go-to Fred Meyer when I lived in Maple Valley. The store is always very well stocked, and prices are reasonable. If you can't find coupons on the displays at the front or back of the store, check by customer service. Produce always seems to very fresh and well taken care of. The aisles are never really too crowded, so not much of a challenge to get around. Always great deals on clearance clothing and home goods here. Usually a huge selection of seasonal products as well. There is a Chase Bank in store, as well as a coffee shop. The store is also typically very clean and well staffed. I had to return a jacket and the girls at customer service were too busy chatting about the customer that was being helped before me to even really speak to me. Boy, they don't hold anything back though. Hope they don't get in trouble for the return they made without a receipt for a full refund because the cashier who rang it up did it this way that she shouldn't have and blah blah blah. It was a conversation that was not meant for guests to hear, and could've waited the minute it took to help me. So loud too, basically yelling at each other. It's the second-closest FM to my house and I frequent it most if I take Hwy 18 to/from school. Or if I am picking something up from Costco or takeout in Covington. Okay, okay, I go here quite a bit. It's not a remodeled location, but it's clean enough, bright enough, and well-stocked so that I always find what I need. Or don't need but want. There's self-checkout, Redbox, and a Tully's. There's gas outside, it's right across from Costco and hundreds of other stores nearby. Well-done, Covington. Well-done. read more

The grocery, bakery, housewares areas of this store are fine but the service in the deli in the this store is horrible. We used to eat their fried chicken but after several experiences of not being able to purchase it at 4:30-5 pm - we gave up after I got "the person who cooks chicken is on a break - so it won't try be available for about 45 minutes"; Not getting the brand of meat I was trying to purchase; not getting served in the order I cme up to the counter (this last time, I gave up after more than 10 minutes and went to Safeway). - so pretty much, this store can't be my go-to for a quick stop on the way home because it isn't a quick stop. read more

I love coming to FM because they normally have all or everything I need! But their customer service is horrible. Especially the meat dept. There's a young brunette male with horrible service. I stood in front of the meat case for a good while and he stood next to me without saying a word but more of ..."get out of my f--way" body language. Today was here..HALF the produce bins were EMPTY! WTF? They had NO lemons, limes, celery, corn, broccoli... I was told that "we were so busy, staff had no time to restock the produce". What bullsh*t excuse is that? Plenty of people--including me--ticked off. I had to go to a 2nd store to get things I needed for dinner. And.. WHERE are the MOTORIZED SHOPPING CARTS??? I am disabled and need one. I love Fred Meyer as a great "one stop shop", but since stores are so big, I need the electric cart. I have had to leave this store THREE TIMES in the last month as there were NO CARTS, or one cart with no charge. Where are the carts? Why none available? I even went to TWO entrances, and no carts at either. SO: won't be coming back, won't waste my time. I had thought this was a nice, pretty, well-stocked Fred Meyer, but with no carts, cannot shop here. And with NO PRODUCE?? crazy..... This Fred Meyer is making us think about looking for another place to shop. Seems like each time I shop here I am being forced to buy more of their Kroger brand that I do not want. Most recently it is the Ore-Ida products that have been pushed aside to make room for the Kroger brand we do not want. Items are frequently out of stock or no longer carried at this particular store. A quick look at the shopping app I use on my phone shows a growing list of things I wasn't able to buy because they are just not properly stocking the store. I find myself going to Costco more often because of this Fred Meyer. The poultry section in the back has fewer Foster Farms choices and more of the Heritage Farm (Kroger) brand than ever. Now I end up buying all of our meats at Costco. This place is down to 1 star. Most recently they stopped carrying any other brands of bacon aside from their crappy Kroger brand and Oscar Mayer. This place is going to force us to shop at Safeway. Ugh. Came back to remove another star, but this place has no stars left to remove. Made the mistake of going there yesterday to find they were out of most of what I was looking for and have been replacing yet more brands with the crappy Kroger brand. There is probably a manager at this location that can be blamed for how bad this store has become. Best to just avoid this one. read more

I love that this store has self check-out. I wish the attendants were attentive. It's hard to give your coupons to the attendant when they are gossiping with their co-workers 5 aisles away. I also wish they would stock the products at some time other than prime shopping hours (like maybe between 11 pm and 7 am when they are closed!). It's so frustrating to have to maneuver around stock carts parked in the middle of the aisles! Other than that, the selection at this store is not as good as other Fred Meyer locations, but the prices are reasonable in comparison to other local grocery stores. Was initially going to give it 2 starts due to it being a meh Fred Meyer that just looks old and is understaffed. However, found little one a pair of pink hightop Converse for $5!! Score (would have bought them in my size but they didn't have any...........). She also got the Skeechers she had to have for $35 (not good or bad price...). This review is for the Covington Bakery and their wonderful employee Leslie who went above and beyond to make my Daughter's 3rd birthday extra special! I went in to purchase 3 dozen multi-colored cupcakes for a "Paw Patrol" themed party. I brought in a picture of some that I found on Pinterest (only so they could match the 6 paw patrol colors for me). The cupcakes in the picture were definitely more elaborate than I really needed, with 2 frosting layers (one color layer, and a white layer) and had cute little black paw prints on them. I obviously wasn't going to ask that they made them just like the picture (didn't think it would even be an option). I just asked them to be able to match the colors for me. Well... the next day I got a call from Leslie, not only offering to make them just like the cupcakes in the picture, but she even offered to put some paw patrol rings on top of them for me as well. It was such a pleasant surprise that she would go out of her way to provide such amazing customer service. It seems like she really enjoys her work, and had fun making the cupcakes so special for us! They turned out adorable and everyone loved them! Looks like I'll be getting all my sweets here now! Thanks Leslie, you definitely made a very happy customer! :) read more

This has been my go-to store since the day the doors first opened. I endured years of pricing errors-a small price to pay for the convenience. I endured the rubble of recent remodel. But the new configuration is random, illogical, and just too inconvenient. It drags customers to the back of the store for most needed items. Wine and beer have to be purchased in the enclosure inside the store, with the clerk deciding whether they will ring up your groceries too, making everybody behind you wait, or if you'll have to pay for groceries at a separate register. This Fred Meyer is pretty good. Pricing is low and selection is good. What is outstanding is their service for ClickList. It allows me to think through my grocery list and check the pantry before I place the order. It helps us to avoid the crowds AND we don't have to walk the huge store for our groceries. This is especially nice when we are tired from our busy day. I am in my 60s and my SO is in his 70s. We use it all the time. Busy parking lot on the weekends, but tons of room by the ClickList pickup! We have never waited more than 3 minutes for our order to come out. read more

Yesterday on January 25th I went to send some money to a friend thru Western Union and a lady that did a transaction for me made an error. Long story short, Tim was the one who ended up fixing it, cause that lady's shift was over and she passed me on to Tim. He handled it in a such a professional way... FIRST: He gave me a sincere apology ( many times ), even though it wasn't his fault. SECOND: He tried to resolve it as quickly as possible, and remained so calm even though Western Union didn't make it easy for him. And THIRD: By handling this problem quickly and effectively, he was able to salvage negative situation. When I was driving back home I thought to myself... Today I went to Covington Fred Meyer and i wanted to exchange my Sweat shirt my mother got there i simply wanted to exchange a medium for a large. I didn't think it would be a big deal since im a regular customer and i wasn't trying to get money they lied to me and said they were out and didn't know how much to charge since they were sold out. i walked away a little bummed then my girl friend convinced me to go look. Sure enough they had tons of them and they had larges. so yeah i brought one up to customer service. I called them on it. finally they said "well ill have to see your id" which I gladly obliged. they exchanged my medium for a large. It only had the tag on it with the cost tore off because it was a gift. My problem with this is that they lied to me and treated me like dirt. 90% of everything ive ate in the last 4 years came from that store. I want to give a shout out to Yanira. She has the best customer service skills. I usually park in the back, it's easier and usually faster to get out of store when I'm done shopping. Imagine my surprise when I find that the only check stand open were the self serve. My cart was full, like $400.00 dollars full. Plus I brought my own bags. I thinking this was gonna take me forever. Then Yanira showed up and with her help we killed it. She was an amazing help for me. Plus she reminded me of my senior citizen discount, which Fred Meyer gives the first Tuesday of every month. When I told him it would take us a while to get to that register - (my mother walks slowly). he said --- that is fine I'm only opening it up for u . It is hard for the elderly to grocery shop at times. I take my mother every Friday. She often insists we go to Safeway because they are small and she can find things ....but when we are there they always have items blocking the isles and it's very crowded. Much nicer than the Kent one. Parking can sometimes be tough to find. The quality of food here is really good. Some associates can get on my nerves here sometimes. I like the store. But my issue is regarding right outside the store. I want to address the issue of a homeless man or a man who seems a bit mentally ill that likes to loiter around the premises of F.M. & other businesses. I've seen him before he would look into customer cars then quickly walk off. Just yesterday as I was walking towards that 4 way stop that leads up to the store this same man was loitering right by the stop sign. He looked at me scowling then made an obscene gesture with his hand. I just didn't feel safe. Please do something about people just loitering around there, because I have noticed. Hoping F.M. will hire security and with the holidays near its real important, as I walk on foot I notice things others do not. I would forewarn that some security be in place or roving around on foot or by a cart. Because if I'm threatened I will fight back. My xbox wont play a blue-ray and I wanted to check to see if it was the disc or the xbox so I brought it in and asked Miles to see if it would play. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A GIFT REGISTRY WITH THEM! I repeat, horrible experience. We signed up on the machine, then it wouldn't print, getting customer service to help even though they are right next to it, didn't go over well either. NONE of the employees have a clue when it comes to those machines, they need to be trained on them or switch out for a different company that works better. A clerk finally showed up to help named Andrew, whom was on the on the phone the whole time, very rude and never got anything resolved, finally we gave up and said we'd try a different Fred Meyer. If I could give a zero star review I would. My family and I spend thousands of dollars at this store, sometimes in a month. I am so disappointed and want to say BUYER BEWARE OF PURCHASING ANY GIFT CARDS. My husband purchased $600 of eBay gift cards from this store as he was trying to buy me a birthday gift. Unfortunately/fortunately for us we realized the transaction was fraud before completing our purchase and did not end up giving the seller any of our gift card numbers. We thought no problem, we can find a way to use this money. Well what we found is that this store sold us USED gift cards. $400 of the $600 had been USED- literally we tried to use them the same day we purchased them. Somebody scratched the pin code off and then put the silver stuff back on it. They looked brand new to us because who would think that someone would do something like that? We called eBay and they said we had to deal with it with Fred Meyer since that is where we purchased the gift cards. My husband went to Fred Meyer with the receipts and what happened and guess what? They would not refund our money and said we had to deal with eBay - super awesome. It is our responsibility to inspect the cards before we buy them. This sounds like an inside job to me. I hope the $400 was worth losing our business - you know the tens of thousands we spend there a year. We buy our groceries, clothes, decor, fine jewelry, a Dyson, a couch, toys, you name it. I will go to Safeway, Costco, and now WalMart before I shop here again. Yep - I would rather give my money to Walmart. So thanks for selling us $400 in fraudulent gift cards and making us, your not so valued customer foot the bill. Worst customer service ever. Fred Meyer offers great prices on groceries and their weekly ad usually has some stellar deals. Most days the store is really busy so aisles can be crowded and bargain weekly ad deals may already be gone on the first day of the sale. Unfortunately, their customer service is absolutely horrible. There is no greeting, no smile, no warmth or hint of a personality. These customer service employees don't even know the details of the return policy and are constantly calling to check with a supervisor. I would suggest bringing a printed copy of Fred Meyer's return policy that you can find on their website or have it available on your smartphone to show them. If they cannot help you, then find a manager. That's usually what it takes. As much as I used to love to shop there, my most recent experience with a particularly rude customer service employee (who actually made fun of me to my face), made tonight my last night shopping trip there. I went through the self check out not to long ago & the attendant was on her cell phone talking about a guy she was seeing. Absolutely the worse Fred Meyer I've dealt with on every level. One of our reasons for loving FM through the years has been their Nutrition Center, availability of Organic produce and their customer service. Covington FM consistently disappoints in all the above. But more than anything the customer service is literally the worst! You could find better at the dollar store where you expect nothing. The produce is often in poor shape and covered with fruit flies. Nutrition Center doesn't carry items that even smaller towns FM have at all times. There has been several times that when using the self check out the person who is supposed to be attending is nowhere to be found as I stand with "attendant has been notified" going off on my register. And I am looking everywhere and finally they slowly walk my way unapologetically and as if I had just interrupted their vacation. Over and over again I ask myself "why do you keep bothering?" Just drive the extra 4 minutes to Four Corners, you will save so much anxiety and give business to folks who actually appreciate their job and the customers. read more

This Fred Meyer is usually my go to... today I purchased "fresh" crab. I came home and cooked it right away. It smelled like ammonia... like A LOT!!! Couple google searches later and find out its bad/rotten. I called the store and was transferred quite a few times before reaching the department. The guy who answered just said "oh... okay...." I said well your selling bad crab! "Okay... I'll make sure we pull it all of the shelf, thanks". Do better Fred Meyer... bad seafood, really.... read more

This is the worst Fred Meyers there is. I used to love coming here because it was convenient and close to my house but the last 5 times I've been there I've had a nightmare of a time trying to find anything. The stores huge and there is such a great variety of things which is awesome, but thay means nothing if you can't find what you need. The staff is no help at all. No one ever knows where to find anything! I ask 3 different employees and they all send me different places and don't even have the decency to walk me there or try to help me. It's ridiculous. They need some kind of training to teach their staff where things are! Simple task. read more
