Went to the Fred Meyers on canyon road at the Beaverton esplanade near the max stop today and the cashier asked for my ID cuz I was trying a near-beer with my husband and when I said "here ya go" she glared at me and was like "don't say here ya go, everyone hates that" like everyone in the world? And then she proceeded to throw my items behind her as she rang them up not even caring if she broke them. Her name was Jessika. And she was also really rude for no reason to the couple ahead of me in line when she was checking them out refusing to give the lady her receipt until she put her debit card away in her purse even though the lady kept asking for it. Sorry, literally I had to buy some pads and a pair of shorts and when I proceeded to go to the bathroom and come out, Security was right outside the bathroom, making the situation very uncomfortable when I have just come to purchase items that I desperately needed at the store. I get my groceries from here all the time, usually from pick up, and over the years, it has gone from acceptable to stellar. Honestly, free pick up, with exactly what I ordered almost every time, and I don't have to wander through the crowded store trying to find everything, then wait in checkout, then load it into my car? Yes, please. It's so great. And when we go in, it's usually for just a few things, and it's almost always a pleasant experience. Stopped in for dry ice and it took LITERALLY forever. The employee "Stephanie" helping at Self checkout was incredibly rude. I didn't know that we needed an ID to buy dry ice but I'm almost 50 for the love of god. My son ran to the car to get my ID but the attendant in self checkout was rude and short with me. I went at 8am in the morning and went to get my cupcake order. Sadly, my friend who helped me order picked the WRONG DAY. She said tomorrow but I needed it today. Luckily the baker was super kind and made it for me within 15-20min. It had some customized writing on it and whipped cream instead of regular frosting. I was super thankful and she was incredibly nice. She also added !!! to balance the cupcakes' decorations. She was very patient. Thank you to the person there. I do love the gas station portion of this Fred Meyer but it really is the worst location to get anything at. At least they have finally started regularly emptying their can/bottle recycling so that one can actually use the bin. I went in just to purchase the green bags and they were completely out. It was right by the self check so I thought maybe the person there might know if there were more elsewhere. If not when they might be in. I get that it was towards the end of their night and waited patiently for them to help a person checking out but WOW - they seriously kept abruptly turning away from me and acting angry with me just for having the nerve to ask a question. They kept just saying they were out of bags - I get that...might you know when you might have them in? They practically screamed at me saying it was up to the state an they have no control. Ummm...ok... it was seriously kind of scary. Though a few weeks back some nutcase in produce also got hyper aggressive with me too so maybe that's how the staff at this location rolls or trickle down effect from management? I have a cane and somedays I walk better than others (don't even get me started on finding the mobile cart etc etc... I just get a cart, store the cane in it and try to do my best to get in and out when I can). The produce restock person does that gritting teeth thing as I am taking a minute to get some avocados as I was trying to get the idiotic Fred Meyer app to work since you have to scan this and that while shopping as you see on sale stuff. I joked - SERIOUSLY....I was trying to just be light and funny since the produce person practically ran me over and seemed annoyed I was standing there trying to scan the code on the stand...that they definitely make you work for your discount. He went into a VERY unnecessary and condescending lecture, talking to me like a small child who has never seen the internet before that what I NEEDED to do was to go into the app and research all their sales before coming shopping and use their list. I genuinely wanted to tell him what he NEEDED to do was to please stop talking to me. And then there is the checkout experience which I have improved since if I buy anything on sale I take photos of the price since about 50% of the time I get to the register an the price is not coming up accurate. Usually the only reason I bought something is that it was on sale and then the cashier argues. So, pull up photo saying that this happens ALL THE TIME so here you go (as I zoom into the clear photo I just took as I was putting it in my cart). Not a fan! The footprint and layout of this store is ridiculously confusing and takes forever to run down a simple grocery list. Yes, Freddy's carries everything from groceries to housewares to clothing to health & beauty to seasonal to gardening to toys - but this location is way too sprawled out to efficiently accomplish anything. Plus, it's always super crowded which adds to the aggravation. Since I was in the area and needed half&half for tomorrow morning's coffee, I stopped in. Parked in a 15 minute spot because I'm going in for one item but didn't realize I was at the complete opposite end of the store from where the milk and cream are located. While on my way, picked up a handful of sale items - they do have great sales - and then made my way to the register. Self serve had a long line so I went to an attendant line and was the 2nd person. Only problem was the people in front of me had 2 shopping carts full and insisted on packing their own groceries. Pulling out dozens of bags like a magician, they carefully and slowly, painstakingly slowly, began to fill each bag. Putting items in, taking them out, putting them back in upside down, rearranging each item like they were playing a high stakes game of Tetris! *OMMFG* I tried practicing deep breathing, but turns out it doesn't really work when wearing a mask! Finally, the doomsday packers were done and I was able to get my 5 items rung up and then hike back to my car. I almost called a Lyft. Yikes. Note to self - don't shop here! There is no reason to with Traders around the corner and other more manageable Freddy's around town. read more

This review is for this location only. I AM DONE WITH THIS FRED MEYER STORE! Today was absolutely the last straw. I am 74 and disabled. Literally, every time I go here to shop there are NEVER any motorized carts available for those of us who have mobility issues. They quite obviously do not care. My usual approach is to have to track down an employee , tell them I need one, wait for them to fumble & bumble around and if lucky, I can finally get one. Today,I couldn't even find anyone to ask. There was nobody around. I waited approximately 15 minutes, gave up and left. And it is not just the lack of carts. By and large most of the employees are untrained and have a lazy, pathetic approach to customer service which is virtually non existent. The store smells unpleasant, and it not only looks unkept. It's actually dirty. I am not going back. I deserve better.I suspect this is a poor management issue because it's not true of all Fred Meyer stores. Whatever the reason, it's NO LONGER going to be my problem.,Do Better! A lot better! read more

Once again, Fred Meyer has proven just how bad they are. I made a special trip to buy ribeye steak, which was listed in their ad at $5.99/lb. Not only did the store not have it, but when I went to customer service, the fellow there (who was very nice), apologized and said they don't issue rain checks for items where there is a limit on how many one can buy, because it is "while supplies last". When I pointed out that the ad doesn't say anything about "while supplies last", he again apologized and said the employees have tried for a long time to get management to put that in the ads, but they won't, which was confirmed by another employee, as well. To make matters worse, he suggested trying larger stores and at least the first one I tried answered the phone, but was out as well and despite calling the next closest one 7 times, once I got past the initial voice prompt, which informed me it was directing me to the meat department or in other calls, their customer service department, the phone would just disconnect. How they stay in business, with prices as high as they are and customer service so sorely lacking baffles me. read more

Weird vibes. Oddly aggressive staff members. Poor aisle layout. Bad shelving organization. Slow customer service. Serpentine fuel center cue line. Mobile "Eye in the Sky" police towers in all parking lots. The only entrance open after 9:00pm is near the smallest parking area. Once a gas station attendant took my credit card and never returned it. I was distracted and drove off. Returning a few hours later, one staff member helped me search through the safe where they had several other customers' credit cards. None were mine. I checked back multiple times both with the fuel center attendants and the customer service representatives. I received little help and no proactive solutions. Never got my card back. When I moved to Oregon, twelve years ago, this was my neighborhood Fred Meyer store. I spent a lot of time shopping here because I really like the store. I like the fact that you can find practically anything you need at this one store. I like the store's atmosphere, prices, cleanliness and great selection of merchandise. This store seems to be one of the larger volume Freddies so they are always well stocked. I no longer live in this area but whenever I am out this way I like to visit this Freddies. It's nostalgic for me but also practical. I am always sure to find what I'm looking for at this store. I visited today looking for certificate frames and a certain pen that I like. Sure enough, I found both items here in plentiful supply! Inside this Fred Meyer store you will find a large grocery department that includes a deli and bakery, sushi, floral, wine and beer, health and beauty, vitamins and nutrition, pet supplies and more. The store carries furniture, bed and bath, home decor, kitchenware, apparel, shoes and accessories for the entire family. There is a pharmacy, optical department, one hour photo, garden center, gas station, red box and child care service. The electronics department carries cell phones, dvds, cameras and more. There is a Peet's coffee bar inside the store. The customer service counter offers a variety of services including western union and event tickets. There is plenty of parking available. The Beaverton Transit Center is just a short walk from here and bus 54 stops nearby. I like Fred Meyer stores and this one is always worth visiting. read more

Fred Meyer is already overpriced and the digital coupons are a joke!!! They are difficult to find in the app and half the time aren't applied. This is Fred Meyers scam to get you to buy "sale" items, but still charge you full price. You need to have large bags if you want customers to buy larger items like rugs, sheets, blankets, etc. I couldn't get those home on the train or even in an Uber without a large bag. So I had to put almost $200 worth of stuff back! The bags that you did have were small and didn't even have handles. Again, difficult to get things home. Try having cashiers again. There weren't any other people in the checkout area but I still struggled to get the items I did have all properly rung up and " into the bagging area" while two employees stood nearby. How did the customer suddenly end up doing all of the work while employees were watching? When did the script get flipped? Went in today for regular grocery shopping. Got usual European bacon, other groceries and left. Got home to put away bacon and as usual totally botched up cutting job. Fat slices, thin, all different sizes. But meat was sopping wet kinda slimy. WTH?!?! Look at all the slices and they are bad with visible discolored patches of old going bad meat. Oh heck no. I put up with them being rude but bad meat? I stormed back. Talked to a manager and advised how horrible the people in the meat department are and this meat is last straw. He seemed to care and said he'd talk to them to be better. Refunded my $$ and gave me a gift card for the trouble. I hope he threw out all the bacon and really talks to the meat guys. Freddy's advertises up to 4 times fuel points when you buy gift cards. What they don't tell you is that it doesn't apply to a Freddy's gift card. In fact, when you buy a Freddy's gift card you get no fuel points at all, the fuel points go to the person who uses the card. I recently bought a large gift card and was looking forward to using the fuel points to be able to fill up my car. Quite a surprise to look at the receipt and not have the points. I understand the theory but I think that Freddy's and Kroger would score a major public relations coup if they awarded fuel points to both the purchaser of the card as well as the user. read more

I used to shop here all the time. It's the first time I was ever in an indoor store/mall where so many departments were under one roof. 40 years ago it was pretty rare to be able to buy clothes and so on in a grocery store. I stopped going there not long after Kroeger bought them. The place was still "ok" but definitely not the same and not as good. These days I do my bulk shopping at Costco and my regular grocery shopping at the Walmart neighborhood grocery store that's close to me. With the ever worsening traffic down by the old Beaverton Mall that area is one of several that I avoid as much as possible. If someone has stolen the numbers off the cards and you call their stolen card department they will put you on a hamster wheel for several months only to tell you " Sorry there's nothing we can do for you". Fred Meyer grocery stores are a new experience for this Californian, and a good experience at that. The first thing I noticed upon entering Fred Meyer for the first time is just how big it is: at least four times the size of my local Safeway. FM seems like a grocery store with a Walmart, a Costco, with parts of IKEA and Bed Bath & Beyond tacked on. There's a bank inside, and a clothing store, and even sporting goods. It's just that big! The selection of frozen, packaged, and ready-to-eat foods are impressive, with helpful staff to point me toward whichever horizon I need to navigate to find something. It's pretty gratifying. FM doesn't have that higher-end foodie vibe that Whole Foods or New Seasons Market emit. It doesn't have that "best friend looking out for you" vibe from Trader Joe's. FM does have a place, and it might just be your primary store for all things you get on a regular basis. That's how I'll use FM. read more

I bought a pair of 1/2ctw diamond earrings from the online store a little over a year ago... I took my earrings to my regular jeweler for a cleaning and setting adjustments. I had him check the size of the diamond and if was a real diamond and real gold. Everything was great till he measured the diamonds. A quarter carrot diamond is 4.1 in width. Both of mine were different. One was 3.1 and the other was 2.9. So I was scamed out of about 300 dollars. I will nevef trust another online jeweler again. Thanks Fred Myers jewelery ! Bleh. Bunch of carts stuck together, couldn't get any apart, notified staff, they just said "yep." Clear enough they are understaffed, which is likely corporate punishment for them having a union. Parking lot is always a scrum, not easy to get into or out of. Anyone fool enough to try driving right past the front door will have a generous wait to reflect on what a bad idea what was. They are also now not content to check ID for alcohol--with which we are fine--but want to run your ID past a scanner. I already knew that they did not in fact have to scan your license, but I wanted to see how the cashier would take the polite declining. She was snotty about it and tried to just refuse to sell it to me (though here I am showing my ID quite clearly, and let's just say I look the age that's indicated by my date of birth on the ID). I asked that she call the manager for an override (they are hoping you won't know that you can do that), and she rolled her eyes and did so. Manager was no trouble about it, of course. It's just another little bit of data mining to associate your personal information with your purchases, far as I'm concerned. Hopefully people will politely decline to let them scan it. It's just not a very good experience. I hadn't been there for five months and I hope it'll be longer than that before I return. read more
