Their Asian style jerky is awesome. I'm glad there are places like this that makes fresh jerky because pre-packaged jerky usually tastes hard and not very flavorful. For my first visit I bought their original pork and beef jerky to see which one I liked better. Both were good but I prefer their pork over they beef jerky. Their fresh jerky comes slightly warm with a smoky sweet flavor. When it's warmed it's texture is slightly too soft in my opinion. If I let it cool a bit then it hardens up a bit and therefore has more of a bite to it. All-in-all is come back to stock up and also to try their other flavors. read more

Finally a place to buy authentic Chinese Pork/beef jerky without trying to sneak it in on a flight from asia. If you have never had Chinese Bak Kwa or smoked and flame grilled thinly sliced jerky you are really missing out. This type of jerky is not the same as the regular American beef jerky that is dried out and usually difficult to tear apart. This type of jerky has a sweet, smokey, and juicy flavor that just explodes when exposed to your taste buds and is easily consumed with very little effort. Second time here, and Second time gotten the Spicy Bacon and Spicy Pork and man do I have to say, This is just Crack if crack was in meat form. So addicting and especially, when it is fresh made. Both time, they ran out of Spicy Bacon and had to make it fresh and man, does that make a difference. Well, either way, I will just devour it. Sharing, when it comes to this, that isn't even in my vocabulary. lol. They should put the slogan, "Bet you can't eat just one!" right below the description. Thank you to Yelp reviewer, I tried this place first time today. When I walked in, I feel very welcome, the girl in the counter, she was very nice. I told her my first time and would like to try their popular item, pork jerky. She gave me good size sample to try out. I was happy n order three kinds (pork jerky (original n spicy, n spicy bacon) each quarter pond. Btw, they fresh make everyday. Mind was just made n I feel the heat from the bag yummy. Very very fresh jerky. I love the original pork. The flavor just perfect and tender. You won't regret having these, and can be additive. These are natural preservative. We bought the spicy pork and tender pork jerky. But we're disappointed the tender pork jerky taste much like the Chinese preserve sausage which I never like. I was hoping it will taste like the one we get from " bee cheng hiang" because the store name is similair to bee cheng hiang, but it doesn't. The spicy jerky somehow taste less like Chinese sausage, probably because it is spicy. read more

OMG! Love love love their jerky...... Definitely just can't stop eating it once it's open....... My favorite is their tender pork and the owner is very nice. Definitely hit the spot! I am a huge fan of jerky, but only Asian style jerky. Every time I go to Hong Kong or Singapore I over indulge in the stuff. Anyway I had a craving after my 3 year old nephew, who is back home in Scotland, told me that he asked my mum who has just gone to Hong Kong to bring him back some pork jerky! I looked up on Yelp and this place had the best reviews and wasn't too far away. It's quite easy to miss this spot, they could do with a better sign. The shop front is simple but clean. There were no other customers when we went in around lunch time. We tried the original pork and pork/bacon and enjoyed them both so ended up buying a pound each! The lady was very friendly and helpful. Yes it is a little pricey, but of course you have to factor in the cost of the meat and workmanship involved (Ive made jerky at home before, not as good as the professionally made ones but it's decent but does take time and skill!) The pork/bacon jerky is very sweet and juicy. I also like how everything is made fresh, small batches at a time, so the jerky isn't just sitting there all day long. We'll definitely be visiting again in the future! read more

Yummy! One of the best pork jerkies I've ever had! I'm so glad I have found this spot so close to my house too. The pork jerky is traditional and sweet. The meat is tender, which is better for me to chew (grandma teeth) lol. Anyway...the flavors are really tasty and makes you want to eat the entire bag in one sitting. A friend of mine knows I love jerky and could not stop talking about it after a trip to Singapore so he got me the original beef jerky and the original bacon to try. The bacon one was too fatty for my taste. I did enjoy the beef jerky one. I will have to make a trip to the store and try all their flavors. Friendly, helpful service and THE BEST jerky! I can only comment on the original pork, spicy original pork and spicy bacon. All are delicious. Perfect balance of sweet, salty, spicy and charbroiled smokiness. Consume them warm. However I found that the flavors intensify as the jerky comes to room temperature. At room temperature, the texture and flavor becomes a true jerky. The fat on the bacon jerky becomes opaque at room temp. So be forewarned that it may not look as appealing as it did when it was warm. I look forward to trying the beef varieties. Approx..$27.00/lb. Seems expensive at first. But I soon realized it's well worth it for a quality pork jerky. read more

The bacon jerky is amazing. It's like candied bacon. My niece loved it. A bit sticky and messy but great.

One pound of their beef/pork jerky are around $7 more expensive than other places. I tried both their orginal beef and pork jerky and didn't taste anything surprising or special. I dont think it worth the price. I would only give 2~3 star, but that's only me. Recommend to buy 1/4 pound and try first. read more

This is a store that I was told about by friends who live in the area. The jerky here is fresh and very good. They will give small samples. I had never had pork jerky before, but the spicy pork is very good. I also like the original beef. The bacon was too fatty/greasy to me. The jerky is very good. A bit pricey but top quality. They just sell jerky!! The people that were working here were really nice and generous with the samples. Don't be afraid to sample them all! I asked to try a flavor, and everyone I was with would get a sample as well. I love love LOVE the bacon ones (regular and spicy). They taste smokey, not burnt smokey. The black pepper beef is also good. I got a few pieces of each, instead of the 1/4 lb increments, and they were really accommodating. These make great Chinese New Year presents. read more

Crazy tasty jerky! I recommend the spicy bacon. It fantastic on its own or a delicious add in when cooking. The owner here was super nice and packed all our bags with little fresh packs to help keep fresh over time. He also speaks a ton of languages, which is pretty cool. Jerky is very expensive for what you get (almost $30 a pound) but hey there's no preservatives and MSG. There was a guy grilling jerky in the back while two ladies in the front tended to the counter. This place is probably going to kill me, so I figured I should write a review before that happens. I go here once a week and order 1lb of spicy bacon. I usually finish it in 2 sittings. Hence, the death of me. lol I love their spicy bacon jerky. It is so addicting! I've let a few of my friends try it and they ended up driving all the way from Venice to buy their own. Mostly cause I only let them have 1 slice each of my 1lb bag. The price is fair. It could be worse and I've seen worse. I know some other reviewers complained about their price but seriously, if you enjoy the quality like I do, the price is secondary to the flavor. read more

I had to get a bunch of their signature pork jerky for a corporate event here in SF but didn't allow for enough time for standard shipping (Amazon's shipping estimates are total crap!) ...so I called up Fragrant Jerky's offices and was lucky enough to get to talk with Jeff. He was patient and explained the shipping times, and then communicated seamlessly with me via email. If you like the sweet kind of jerky, this is the place to be. I tried the Original pork the first time when my mom bought it and it was pretty strong in fish sauce flavor but it was delicious. So, I decided to visit this place for myself. There was a limited selection when I went in so I bought Original Beef and Original Pork. Loved the Original Beef! Pork was good too. I want have a taste sample before make up my decision and they only gave me half sq/inch for tasting even I already ordered over $100.00. They make you feel like each sample you are tasting are cut off from their arms or leg. I was lazy to drive to Hacienda Hight for better tasting jerky store because the bad traffic, so I end up spend over $200 on jerky and of course not a penny discount. Fragrant Jerky is the best Asian-style jerky that you can find in SoCal. I can say that confidently after trialing Champion and Prime Cut. Keep in mind that this is not the same as the beef jerky places in NYC's Chinatown, but Fragrant Jerky holds its own with a thickly sliced, moist charred beef or pork jerky. The sweet bbq glaze is perfection. The beef jerky tastes SO GOOD when it's warm and fresh. I showed up at opening time, purchased a pound right out of the grill, and it tasted incredible! My family loved it too. In fact, I ended up ordering more from their website since I live out of town. However, the product I got in the mail was not even close. My brother said that there was a strong scent in the meat like it wasn't cleaned well. I didn't really get that, but the taste was off. I am not a big fan of sweet jerkys but my dad loves it so I went and bought a 1/4 pounds for him to try this place out. The employee didn't want to make it .25 lbs measurement so my package went over to .40 lbs on the scale. I was okay with it, no big deal even though it's almost .50 lbs. (.25 for $6.20 and .50 lbs for $12.xx and 1lbs for $24.cx) Like most people, I don't really carry cash or change with me, had a $5 and some change in my pocket. I saw the previous customer pay with card so I felt relieved. My turn to pay, total come out to $10.50 added tax and extra pounds, I didn't like how it went over but it didn't matter much until she rejected my card payment because I didn't purchase .50 lbs. I was concerned and asked it's almost .50 pounds even though my intention was only to purchase .25 lbs. she said only .50lbs or more for card payment, no exception. I asked again for the exception, and most business owner would be nice enough to let me slide most of the time, but not her....... read more
