My friend loves this restaurant and her family is also northern Chinese, and she loves their sweet potato dessert. It's similar to something made by the Queen of Dim Sum on Culinary Class Wars season 1 if you've seen the show. I am obsessed this dish - it is not an exaggeration to say this dish lives in my mind rent free and I would go back to this restaurant for this dish alone (although let's be real, I will be ordering additional things). Allow me to tell you about this restaurant. After walking around Chicago and walking six miles my friends and I were famished! We somehow ordered 45 dumplings, chicken, beef lo mein, and fried tofu. Everything exceeded expectations! That is the best tofu I have ever eaten. It was crisp on the outside but melted in my mouth! The chicken was crispy and flavored so nicely! I will be thinking about this food on my death bed! I will be back to this restaurant time and time again. Somehow we had no leftovers, we demolished the food! Me and my boyfriend decided to go to the restaurant to eat inside this time. The restaurant is very small. There is ambulance of seating. It's very intimate. Our food was served to us fresh. We both got chicken and lamb seemed dumplings. It seems that they have different options on the menu than they do in the app. The chicken dumplings that I ate there were cabbage and mushroom. They were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the kimchi fried rice. It was not good at all and we were charged an extra two dollars to substitute the pork for beef. With the substitution, it looked like they cut up half of a thin piece of beef scattered within the rice. The rice tasted old and flavorless with a whole bunch of chili sauce blended into it. The service was decent. Our server served us our food and made sure we had everything we needed. I wouldn't come back to eat inside. I would strictly order takeout from here. Definitely a hidden gem. Came across this restaurant because my daughter wanted dumplings. They did not disappoint. It's a very compact restaurant. My daughter ordered the vegetarian dumplings. My friend had the shrimp lo mein, and I had a chicken and potato with noodle dish. I can't remember the name. We shared a combo fried rice, no pork. All the entrees are large enough to share for a decent price. I appreciate they use jumbo shrimp in their dishes. The dumplings were flavorful and so was the shrimp lo mein. My noodle dish was good but the chicken lacked flavor. The sauce in the dish was delicious but the chicken either needed to marinate in it longer or they need to season the meat. Service was fast. It's a bit outside of Chicago's actual Chinatown, old Chinatown, and it's less crowded in this area so it's not as busy, which is nice because it's quieter. Parking... you can find it on the street and it's free on the street on Sundays. Most of the dishes are really decently priced and the servings are good enough. The salt and pepper tofu was slightly battered and very good at $12, the vegetable fried rice $10 was not too oily, but had enough vegetables, including broccoli and it wasn't too salty, the vegetables w garlic sauce was not good because the garlic sauce was a little bit too thick with Cornstarch so it was gelatinous and a bit spicy. Overall, a good deal for your budget. They are known for their dumplings and they are good. We went another day in July 2025 and repeatedly asked for garlic sauce instead of white sauce for mixed vegetables but despite the waitress speaking English perfectly, the food was a big disappointment bc it was white sauce :-( They have so many garlic sauce dishes so I don't know why they didn't substitute it. In addition, the vegetables were only cabbage, carrot, about 2-3 pieces of mushrooms, 3 small broccoli pieces, a random piece of tofu cut up in pieces, onion, celery, green pepper, and lots of oil. There's a "decorative" fish tank where the fish are clearly dead or dying. The tank seems completely lacking any kind of care for these animals. First off, I've never have eaten inside; I've always gotten take-out and have been lucky to find street parking close-by, if not in-front. This would be a 5-star review because the food is consistently fresh and delicious, including their dumplings. However, the past few times, the timing provided on the confirmation e-mail from Beyond Menu is always ~16 minutes from time of order. For example, if you place an order at 6:00pm, it says your order will be ready at 6:16pm, when it will not be. My recent orders have taken over 50 minutes to be ready from the time my order was placed. I now have learned to not make the mistake of going even 15 minutes after the confirmation time the e-mail says my order will be ready, because I'll be standing around waiting for my order. The food is fresh and hot when I get it; but, they need to adjust their systems to provide a more realistic timeframe for when your food will be ready. This includes if the kitchen is being stressed because of other orders. Also, this longer duration for your food to be ready plays a key role into when you'll actually eat to then get to do other things in your day. Sorry, but ~16 minutes to over 50 minutes is a big deal and worth knocking a star off the rating. These now large gaps in timings were not an issue over a year ago and prior. read more

Ordered the dried tofu strips with napa cabbage, sauteed string beans, tomato with egg, and pork with napa cabbage dumplings. I have never had dried tofu with cabbage (cold appetizer) before, but it turned out to be a highlight of the meal - a little on the spicy side though. Found this place after a little bit of yelping around and let me tell you... this was a PHENOMENAL choice!! We went around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, and there was nobody else in the restaurant at the time besides us. The inside is not too small but not too big. The bathrooms are clean. The staff is very sweet and welcoming. Since we didn't want a whole meal, we ordered 2 sets of dumplings - pork and green pepper dumplings and chicken cabbage mushroom dumplings. They had soy sauce and chili oil with it. Oh my god you guys, these were hands down the best dumplings that I've EVER had in my life. And I have had A LOT of dumplings. We got them pan seared and it was perfectly soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The meat was seasoned SO WELL and it went absolutely perfectly with the sauces. Every once and a while, when my husband is craving dumplings, we pop into Four Seasons. You can expect a quiet, clean restaurant with a mix of booths, bistro, and large round tables for bigger groups. We see a good number of people coming in and out for delivery/pick up, and usually at least 1-2 other groups while we're here for lunch. Like I said, their handmade dumplings are what brings us in. There's a variety of protein options (pork, beef, lamb, veggie, chicken, mushroom) and an option of boiled or pan-fried. I personally like pan-fried, but we've ordered and enjoyed both since my husband prefers the boiled. Their garlic eggplant was also a hit with me; loved the crispiness and flavor of the sauce. Oops I didn't take any photos, I was too busy eating. The smoked pork Pancake is good but the pork inside was cold, like refrigerated cold while the Pancake was freshly fried. A little odd but not bad. Pork chive shrimp dumplings were tasty. Tried them boiled this time, maybe I'll try pan fried next time (or not, the boiled ones were tasty just as is). They don't offer lunch specials on weekends - I didn't personally try to get it, but saw a patron have a hard time paying $40 for what they expected to pay far less for. I felt bad for them. For me, 14 dumplings and 4 big pieces of pork Pancake was more than enough and came in about $25. Not a cheap lunch, but a good one. Environment was minimal, some older Asian dudes getting in what seemed almost a shouting match over their meal, but what are you gonna do? Maybe they were just enthusiastic. I'd go back. I'd bring people too, they've got one or two big lazy Susan tables and doesn't seem to get too busy. A much more peaceful spot at 3 pm on a Saturday than anywhere in Chinatown.
