Walk up window

Review #1000!!! Where did the time go?! When I hear the word PIE, my response is ALWAYS, yes please! I seriously could eat sweet or savory pie for every meal and never get tired of it. When I discovered there was a pie specialty place so close to me, I had to try it! I stopped by on a Friday early afternoon. I had never been before, so rather than ordering ahead online to pickup at their convenient walk up window, I opted to go inside. Inside is small but oh so cute. During more normal times it looks like they have a nice little dining area too. I was happy to see they still had a decent selection even early afternoon! The only thing they were out of that I wanted to try was Chicken Pot Pie, but the owner was in the process of making more and even offered for me to stop back a little later. I decided id save that for another time as there was so much goodness right infront of me! I went with a mini goat cheese and sun dried tomato quiche, a mozzarella and pepperoni hand pie, a cardamom cinnamon roll, and a mixed berry mini pie. Each was special in its own way. The quiche had a thick crust, and a moist perfectly cooked filling. The components of it were fresh and delicious. The hand pie was rich with generous filling, and the crust was nicely flaky. The cardamom roll was spicy and sweet. My favorite of all the above was the mixed berry pie. Not only did it have a great crust and nice topping, but the filling was just right. It wasn't overly sweet or gelatinous, just fruity and fresh. I realized as I was eating these items that the crust seemed different than any I had before. I didn't realize until I went back to the website that it was actually gluten free! I never would have guessed! The owner actually locally sources as much as she can, including from her own garden and family farm! The products available do change but range from hand pies, quiches, full and mini pies, rolls, cookies, and breads. The inventory on the website is accurate and updated. Specials can also be found posted on social media. I am definitely impressed with this local gem!

So I sent a Facebook message asking about a particular type of pie. The owner responded to me right away... They didn't have it, but they could make me one today. I didn't know what size I wanted, or how long it would take or any of that. She step by step went through the whole process without me in individual Facebook messages until setting up my exact pickup time. Got there it was fresh, hot, and ready, nd so I grabbed two other treats too. The cherry scone, blueberry muffin and my custom Derby pie were all amazing. The scone was crumbly and full of cherries with confectioner sugar on top, the muffin was a little buttery, but mild in sweetness, letting the tart Berry flavors win out. And derby pie is just a great idea. Only thing better than the treats? The customer service! Check them out!

This is a placeholder review for this newly opened business in Newtown Good product, but small selection and fairly limited hours. They have both savory and sweet/dessert pies, as well as cinnamon rolls, cookies, scones, bars, and loaves of bread. No donuts, no danish, no coffeecakes, or anything else like that The blueberry lime individual-sized pie I had was pretty good, as was a gluten free gingersnap cookie. A three-bite individual sausage and apple quiche was good but for 2 bucks apiece, not much food for the money I think my favorite item thus far is the pepperoni bread, which I have seen them offer as a loaf and also as individual rolls, about the size of a large biscuit

Incredible! After a rainy but successful trip to the season's last Hyde Park farmer market, we…read moredecided to check out one of the bakeries on my "want to try" list: Two Seven Two, in Clifton. I'm so glad we did! It was amazing. The shop is quite small and bustling on a Sunday morning. The baked goods are displayed mouthwateringly behind glass, nicely labeled. I do not think it would be possible to leave with just one item -- so many delicious-looking sweet and savory options, and so well crafted. We choose a pecan sticky bun (the last one in the case - ha! Sorry, people behind us, you didn't get to experience that caramelly flavor with the salt flake zings!), a s'mores morning bun (the delicate chocolate filling didn't over power and the whipped creamy topping were perfect) an apricot shortbread cookie (literally melts in your mouth!), and a kimchi danish (not me - my daughter picked that one and loved it). They were all superb, worth having a conversation about! We also had drinks - iced vanilla latte and a seasonal apple cider with cold foam -- also very tasty. There were a couple of tables inside, a couple outside. It's a popular place so consider yourself lucky if you snag a spot. We took ours to go, walking past a line of folks waiting their turn to drool at the glass. We ordered inside, got our pastries boxed up, then went outside to wait for our drinks to be delivered by the barista through a handy sidewalk-facing window. Street parking available and a lot nearby but I'm not sure if it's a public lot. We parked on the street right out front.

One of my joys while on vacation is to visit local bakeries and try a variety of baked goods…read more The Cincinnati zoo is close by and they allow outside food and drinks. As such, we stopped by on a Thursday morning to pick up a few pastries for our zoo visit. We went with the basics, croissant and pain au chocolate. Both items were fresh, buttery, and flakey. We inhaled them. There were a few other notable items that I would love to return and try: peach jam and fig leaf pastry cream bun and burnt honey Swiss with peach jam shortbread.
