Forgotten Tonic is a cozy and delicious experience tucked away off the beaten path in historic St. Augustine. You will NOT be disappointed. Upon entering the vibe is cozy and inviting with a mix of modern and classic style. Service was excellent and we were welcomed with a smile. The drink menu is full of outside of the box drinks so it took a few minutes to decide, but we were never rushed and all of our questions were answered. I chose to go with Stacy's Mom and it was tasty and refreshing, though I personally would have liked a bit more spice. My husband went with the Japanese Highball and he enjoyed his as well. The Creole Egg Rolls were phenomenal!! Do not sleep on these things, seriously. My husband had the Redfish Sandwich with Potato Salad and while it was solid it did not compare to the seasonal special which was the Short rib with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was heavenly and the mint was such a nice and unique flavor added to the dish. We topped off our dinner with the Pineapple Bread Pudding which was excellent, but not easy to eat out of the little pan they served it in. They had all these awesome, old school looking apparatuses that derived the juice from fruit and other things. John recognized our intrigue and let us try the fresh blackberry juice and a watermelon rind concoction that was to-die-for! If all that wasn't enough for you, they not only have a weekly happy hour (posted) they have a WEEKEND happy hour as well until 3pm (posted as well)! I had a HH Easy on the Eyes IPA $3 and a delicious Sherry Pain Killer. It had dried orange peel, dried lime, fresh mint in it. The menu is quite extensive, all handcrafted, and bold flavors. I visited Forgotten Tonic on Monday 7/17 with family who were visiting North East Florida from out of town. After looking up reviews and menus for various restaurants in St. Augustine, we settled with a reservation at Forgotten Tonic because of their food and cocktails. The good: Generally, everyone in our party enjoyed their meal, from appetizers, to the Catch of the Day (salmon), Chicken Bella and cheesecake. Generally, no complaints on the food. The very bad and ugly: The service we received during our visit was probably some of the worst service I (and those in our group) have received at any restaurant, ever. We were unsure if we had done something or said something to upset our waitress (perhaps it was showing up 20 minutes early for our reservation, even though the restaurant was not busy at that time and they could have chosen to not seat us until our reservation), but it was clear that something was off and service provided would be uncomfortable at best. From responses to our questions asking for recommendations on the food, to having to ask for water multiple times, we were made to feel like unwelcome guests in the restaurant. The waitress' tone of voice, demeanor, facial expressions when asked about the food or having to wait for someone in our group to make a decision on a menu item all contributed to an experience that was uncomfortable. So much so that after most every interaction, all of us at our table looked at each other with confusion because of the rude interactions each time the waitress visited our table. At the end of the day, we can't complain about the food, but I can't in good conscious return or recommend anyone else visit this restaurant because of how uncomfortable we were made to feel by the wait staff and the lack of professionalism. I wish my family from out of state did not have this uncomfortable dining experience. read more

Our server was very sweet and gave us great recommendations. Love that they have a daily specials and a great happy hour. We had the meatballs. My wife and I went with our neighbors on a date night. My neighbors said it use to be called Cellar 6 and this was the first time they'd been since the name change. It was a rainy St. Augustine Friday night but we didn't get too wet on the walk. We had a 745P reservation and we got there around 730P. There were at least 7 open tables but for some reason the told us they were still getting our table ready so they directed us to the bar. We started with two orders of meatballs and the Brie appetizer. The meatballs have a hint of spice and were served over a white gravy. There were 3 per order so we had a total of 6 on the table. The Brie came with an assortment of fruits and crackers. Both were very good. I got the cobia over ancient grains. It was very good. I didn't notice the cobia came blackened. It's not the end of the world, but I would have preferred it if it was just grilled. The grains were very good and added good texture. My wife got the burger medium and substituted mashed potatoes for the fries. The burger was cooked to the right temp and she really liked it. She didn't care for the mashed potatoes. She said they didn't taste like anything so I gave them a try. I'm not a huge salt guy but these potatoes need something. There are still a lot of places around town that we haven't tried. I would consider coming back before giving another place a try. read more

This restaurant has a policy that if you do not call that day by noon that they charge $10 per head for canceling a reservation (table of 8 reserved). I called 40 minutes prior because our party was running late to see if they could push back our reservation 15 or 30 minutes. They said they were too busy to accommodate and would hold for 10 minutes or we could rebook at 915pm. Knowing we were not going to make the reservation and 915pm would not work for us, I requested to cancel and since they were so busy assumed they would waive the cancellation fee. The manager told me it was the owners policy and he could not refund the charge so I am out $80. Although I understand why they have the fee...I just can't believe they wouldn't refund me or even reduce the fee on a "busy" evening. We eat out a lot and their are many restaurants to choose from in St Augustine. Unfortunately I will never try this one after this reservation experience. Disappointing! read more

We had lunch as a group of seven at Forgotten Tonic while staying in St Augustine for the Christmas lights this week and this is the one restaurant I will not forget and look for again next time we are in the area. We did have reservations because we had heard that it can be a busy place but on a cold weekday at lunch there were empty tables. I had such a fun non alcoholic drink called Sleigh All Day that was served in a gorgeous glass that looked like a vintage Christmas cocktail glass and the cold drink with tea, ginger, pineapple and other flavors was delicious and fun. Place has a good vibe. Drinks were good. Wine list is adequate. Our server was changed mid-way through the meal which wasn't a problem but just seemed odd not to acknowledge a change. Four of five dishes came out together. The fifth dish came out five minutes later. The fifth dish was not hot so it must have sat around on a counter. My mashed potato's were not evenly warmed and pockets were cold. They must have been microwaved. That fifth dish was comped and they also provided a free dessert. It wasn't as festive as other Miracle Bar pop-ups I've been to, but the food, service, and drinks were top notch. Our server made some great recommendations outside of the miracle menu (if you're a key lime pie fan, you MUST order the key lime pie martini!) We were vacationing in St. Augustine and on June 18th we made a reservation for Forgotten Tonic. We selected this restaurant based on reviews and ambiance. I'm not into writing reviews, but will in this case. I will preface with saying that I live in Las Vegas and I am accustomed to excellent service and good food, so maybe I hold other es establishments to a higher standard. I am also very easy to please and not a snooty foodie by any standard. That being said, for the price we paid, I expected better from Forgotten Tonic. They have a cool looking cocktail bar so I ordered a Cosmo Martini. It lacked Orange liquor and cranberry juice, very underwhelming, so I didn't order a second one. My husband ordered the Shrimp & Grits Etouffee, the shrimp was so over the top salty, but he was starving so he ate most of it, the grits were good, but cold. I ordered the Pasta Allá Vodka with grilled chicken. The pasta arrived cool, not even lukewarm. I kindly asked the server if she could just nuke it for a few seconds to warm it up. When she brought it back it was still cool. Disappointed, I left half of the plate unfinished. The couple we were traveling with ordered the FT Burgers and they were good. I should've stuck with just a burger, but we had been sightseeing all day and looking forward to a nice sit down dinner with cocktails. As for the service... the server was very polite, but prior to ordering we asked a question about something on the menu. She said she would ask the chef and would be right back. When she came back, she asked if we were ready to order when we asked about the chef's response, she said she'd forgotten to ask. Nice girl, but she was distracted and all over the place. Delicious!!! First let me say you are going to spend some cash here. It is on the pricey side, but we didn't mind spending the extra money on a date night. My husband got the blackened cobia and he couldn't stop talking about how surprised he was at how delicious it was. I had the shrimp and grits. It was plenty more than I could finish. It has a little bit of a kick to it. I really wished I could have finished it, it was so good. The baked Brie was also very delicious. It had blackberry jam on it and had plenty of other items to enjoy with it. Make sure to make reservations, especially if you go on the weekend. Love their vegan burger and their vegan panna cotta dessert. The ciabatta bread (also vegan) is insanely good, and sometimes I go just to get an order of that. It comes with the tastiest garlicky olive oil blend to dip it in. Not many places offer a full vegan line up. Much appreciated! This was my favorite go to place in the historic district. As of lately service has deteriorated, portions reduced, prices greatly increased or portions greatly reduced. Almost get the impression that you are bothering them. Wait is long. Don't hold your breath waiting on them to check on you. Wine selection has deteriorated and most seem unfinished. The baked Brie is pathetic with only a couple of each fruit.
