When i got home with my Ipswich clams, it look like they were all strips with no Belly. The breading was also very soggy and not crunchy at all. I only live ten minutes away from the Ashburn location, so everything should have been crunchy. Not only was the belly missing from the clams, they didn't taste good at all. read more

The food is always incredible. The seafood is prepared very well, never overdone. I love having their spinach and crab omelets for weekend brunch. The staff is amazing - friendly and on top of refills and checking on visitors regularly. The wait times haven't been very long, and we loved patronizing them over the pandemic to keep them alive. Fords is by far my favorite seafood restaurant in the area. I've been many times for their happy hour which is fantastic. Great selection of draft beers, delicious $1 oysters and amazingly delicious peel-and-eat shrimp. Everything we ever ordered here was so tasty, fresh and finger licking good. Some items include the fried cod, lobster, chilled lobster claws, fries, corn, ribs, bruschetta, lobster roll and their delicious tarter sauce. The desserts are also very good. The food, service, ambiance, and their management that are always willing to accommodate any requests, earn this place a 5 star rating. They are expanding and currently have 3 different locations. Food is delicious - always. But I got the wrong curbside pick-up order because their online order menu didn't match what they were actually offering for the day. Just my luck, I hated the actual order I received and never would've ordered it if their online menu was correct. This is definitely a FWP, but I'm not rich and $23 for lunch is a major splurge for me. On Fri, 6-26, their online menu through TableUp said the market fish of the day was grilled halibut, served with a chimichanga and poblano cream sauce. I'm from Southern California, so I jumped on this because I love halibut and especially love Mexican-themed food. Returned home to Herndon and saw grilled halibut, but no chimichanga and no poblano cream sauce. Instead, there was (I think) cauliflower mashed potatoes, which I hate, and a lemon sauce with capers, and of course I hate capers. Lemon sauce is usually delish, but not when you drive from Herndon salivating over chimichanga and poblano cream sauce. I called the restaurant and a young male answered, sounding harried. I told him what happened and repeated at least twice how disappointed I was and that I never would've ordered it if I'd known it came with cauliflower mashed potatoes and lemon caper sauce. For $23 for the lunch entree, I expected him to refer my call to the manager, but before I could ask for the manager myself, he said, "Oh, yeah, that was yesterday's special, thanks for letting us know, we'll change the online menu," -- and hung up. I worked in restaurants for 10 years. It is the easiest and most necessary thing in the world to fix a fucked up order. You apologize, you offer a refund or restaurant credit, and ask if there's anything else you can do to make it right. Maintaining good will in this industry is essential b/c there are so many other options for customers and b/c you don't want a customer to ever leave the encounter with a bad vibe, feeling like money and time were wasted, and that you don't know if you can trust them to get it right next time. And this was their fuck-up. Their menu was wrong, and payment was taken in exchange for something else. I've been supporting local restaurants as best I can through the COVID nightmare, and I appreciate immensely those who've stayed open to risk themselves to feed people like me. But if the new processes or rules are making it hard to maintain restaurant operations, then it's probably time to figure out a different way to do it. It's frustrating to throw away a bunch of perfectly good food, and to do a 20-mile roundtrip drive, and to splurge financially on a lunch that ends up fizzling -- all b/c of a simple technical issue or someone forgetting the menu update. read more

My last visit I got the Mahi Mahi with the potato's. It was fresh and cooked to perfection. They can get busy, but that's what you expect fro such a great restaurant! This place is now my new favorite seafood spot! I came here with my family on New Year's Eve and I'm glad we called ahead to make a reservation. We came in about 15 minutes prior to our reservation and they were jam packed! I checked in and asked how long the wait was and see if they can seat us earlier but the lady at the front said we'd have to be seated closer to the time of our reservation. It was fine since we came in early but there's not a lot of places to wait around and it was cold outside even though they had a heater out there. Nevertheless, we busied ourselves looking at other people's food and enjoyed the cool chalkboard designs and nautical decorations all around. When it got a little past 6:30 (which is when our actual reservation was), they got us seated pretty quickly. Our server Valerie, told us the specials and took our order right away. She also gave us some delicious warm bread which we devoured. We ordered the Maine chips with lobster (For more or large) and the Smoked Salmon bruschetta. They were both very delicious and had blue cheese or maybe feta in the other. We also ordered a couple of Manhattan drinks which were very tasty and had the black cherry in the bottom. For our main dish, we had the Salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes, Lobster Roll with calamari, fries and corn on the cob, fish tacos with fries and guacamole, and the Scallops with Penne. They were all very delicious. We couldn't decide which was was the best because they were all different and they were very tasty in their own way. We were very full after the main dish but we still had a couple of desserts- a Boston creme pie with chocolate ganache and strawberry drizzle and the blueberry pie with cinnamon ice cream. The blueberry pie was very delicious. Not that the Boston creme pie was bad but the pie and the ice cream went well together. We will definitely have to come back. I've been here multiple times and it never quite disappoints. Food is always great. I'd recommend the oysters, they are always fresh. Oysters are $1 on Mondays. They can get a little sandy but great texture and flavor and they are $1! Cornbread is another favorite of mine. It tastes like the movie theater is in your mouth. You don't know what I'm talking about, you just gotta try it. Fishes are good too. I like the salmon and fish and chips. Apparently their lobster rolls are wonderful too. The only thing that I have tried there that I don't like was the lobster bisque. It was waaaaaaaay too salty. But other than that, everything is great everytime. Awesome place for delicious seafood! Some of my favorites here include: Lobster roll (Connecticut Style) - one of the better lobstah rolls I've had with decent amount of meaty lobster and hot butter! Angry Mussels - even though it's under the appetizers, 1 lb is enough as an entree for one and two lbs is enough as an entree for two! amazing creamy golden sauce that I love to dip the grilled bread in, or scoop with my mussel shells. fish & chips - cute presentation with the "newspaper" of flaky white fish that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I've had a little bit of everything here and it doesn't hurt to order the seafood dish that you like. The complimentary cornbread is delicious with actual corn and is perfect with the butter. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat out at in Ashburn. We moved away a few years ago, popped back in tonight for some of the deviled eggs, fish tacos, shrimp tacos and lobster bisque. EVERYTHING was overly salty and spicy. My lips were on fire after eating eggs! My mouth was like the Sahara after one taco and two bites of soup. Neither my husband or I ate more than 10% of our entire meal. The waitress was very nice but she didn't even ask us why we had left our entire meal still sitting on the table. I fear that this once loved restaurant has now taken a turn. Maybe it was just a bad night for the chef? I hope so. read more

I rarely venture to this side of town. I was in the area to support a friend who ran a half marathon. After her victory, everybody was hungry like we all ran too. Lol She chose this spot a week prior because of its raving reviews. We arrived slightly earlier than our reservation and they were still able to accommodate us. We were the first group to arrive when the restaurant open. This place reminds me of a combination of Red Lobster and Coastal Flats. Fresh seafood and variety of options for brunch, lunch and dinner. Breakfast options includes fish & eggs, corn flakes french toast and eggs, spinach and crab meat omelette. Lunch options include crab cake sandwiches, seafood baskets, fish tacos and sandwich rolls (lobster roll, clam roll and shrimp roll). They also offer raw items like shrimp, crabs, lobster claws and oysters. Our server Richard was attentive and friendly. He even let me call him Rich. He provided the specials and offered recommendations. We ordered fish tacos (some substituted regular fries for sweet potato fries), shrimp rolls, corn flake french toast, egg/spinach/crab meat omelette and a cod special of the day. No one was dissatisfied with their meal. I actually really enjoyed mine. I ordered the shrimp roll that came with fried shrimp on a lightly toasted bun with spicy remoulade sauce, cole slaw (mayo base) and a side of fries. I substituted my fries for grilled corn. This portion was just the right amount of shrimp and food. Now, the reason for 2 stars was because we found hair in our food not once but TWICE. One time in the butter for the corn muffins and the other instance inside my friend's fish tacos. She was disgusted but not rude about it. She didn't make a scene and her father addressed the manager. The manager apologized to the entire table. This shouldn't have been discovered twice. Not sure if the cooks have on hair nets but it should become a requirement. You would think that would deter the experience. However it didn't. The restaurant was apologetic and comp'd the bill which made the experience not so bad. Still unacceptable but I hope that take steps in preventing this for future or returning customers. Don't worry we still tipped the waiter because the service by Richard was amazing. He was more upset that it happened than we were. It showed how passionate and dedicated he was to provide the best service. I won't say I won't go back but maybe I'll try another location first. Again, the food was still good. read more

My cocktail was expertly mixed and the seafood was so fresh, it tasted like it came fresh from the ocean! Like someone dipped a net in the water and served it to me right then and there. We ordered the Short seafood tower and a few other items and I was just so impressed with the presentation and the assorted condiments that accompanied the dish. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was amazing! Very informative when we had questions and super friendly. Definitely a professional. You know what, whoever and wherever Ford is, they need to be smacked. Great Service and even Greater Food. I was so excited to finally get out to this place and today was the perfect day for it. Wow! We were able to sit outside because tge weather was great! I ordered a Salmon Salad which was so tasty! The salmon had a light grilled maple flavor and the salad was a blend of shredded lettuces, cabbage, cranberries, etc., and a wonderful dressing! My husband ordered Fish (cod) and Chips that was light and crispy and our friend ordered a specialty burger that was large and juicy, and the fries were thin , like shoestring!
