The only locksmith I'm going to visit in the future, after spending 40$ on key duplication machines for 4 keys that didn't work. I was lucky enough to find fon on Yelp, his shop is nestled in a fish market in Chinatown but he looked at my keys and made 4 copies for just 7 bucks in minutes, the copies work better than the original. He also put them on keyrings. I ended up giving him 10$ because he's worth way more than whatever he's charging read more

Fon has cemented his spot as my go-to-Locksmith! I have a tool cabinet passed down from my Uncle and the keys were misplaced. I wasn't able to get into for 10 years. After reading his reviews on Yelp, I gave Fon a call, he responded immediately and was willing to make a visit the same day. Needless to say he was able to pick and open the two locks in under 20 minutes. He made custom keys to replace the lost ones and was clear on what was possible vs the challenges. Everything was back together in no time! Fon is truly reliable, efficient, and transparent. Call him! read more

I have a decorative door made in China with a lock built into it of unique size. Other locksmiths refused to work on it, advising me that they could not obtain parts they needed to fix the lock because it was Chinese. Fon could not order parts so he just worked on the puzzle that was the lock to fix the malfunctioning lock. He did it. My door works perfectly now. Fon helped me from having to replace the door because the lock did not work. Fon is an expert locksmith! read more

This is a great find for people living in the areas surrounding Chinatown. Few things to note: 1. YOU NEED TO WALK INTO THE FISH MARKET AT 1135! I was very confused but luckily for other yelpers, I found it. 2. Cash ONLY 3. Hours on yelp say 24 hours but that's incorrect, they are open 9-6 everyday. I had 4 keys made in just a few minutes. $7 total!! Thank you Fon Locksmith! read more

Awesome. So fast and efficient. Really helpful. The guy is so experienced - he took one look at my keys and immediately knew that I was experiencing some difficulties opening my door with it. Just by looking at it - incredible. Each key to be copied is $1.50. I got four keys copied, and I was charged $5. Each set of keys comes with a keyring. Super cheap, and now, all of the copied keys work better than the originals. He's a miracle worker, and I was in and out of his store in five minutes. Come here. I will get all of my future keys copied here. Cash only. read more

You may have trouble finding this place if you aren't Chinese. I speak Mandarin and was even lost in Chinatown for a good 15 mins. My Korean friend came to the same place and got lost for a super long time because she didn't know to go INTO the fish market in the "CANTON PLAZA," so I had to help her. There is a single guy manning this stand and he makes all the keys. You tell him what you want and he does his thang. Then in a few mins, he is done and you just pay him in cash. Super cheap. Also, I came here twice with the same exact keys, each time its the same price (no more or no less). I was skeptical he would change the prices but he didn't. He is very professional and seems like an honest man. Just plug your nose while you wait, this is in a fish market. SIDE NOTE: Sometimes I get my keys done at Home Depot and they aren't even as good as the copied keys this guy makes. I am paying less here for a good quality copy of my keys! read more

Fon Locksmith - Main homie copying keys and helping customers!!! - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - San Francisco, California

This is my very first yelp review, and it's about a locksmith hidden in a fish shop in CT. I had to make 150 copies of a key for some reason, Fon gets it done in an hour, and he tested every one of them! It only costs a third of what would cost me at Home depot. Fon was so kind and skillful. His humble and friendly attitude was very heartwarming. He deserves to be on the front page of "locksmiths in San Francisco" on Yelp. And walking ten steps thru the fish shop wasn't that bad at all. read more

Fon Locksmith - Shiny keys - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - San Francisco, California

Definitely recommended this store with high quality, good customer service provided by the owner

Making key copies never been easier. Luckily I knew where to go from reading the reviews. When you see the fish market, just head right on through. The locksmith is midway down the hall on your left. Best prices for fast service! :) read more

Fon Locksmith - In the fish market, down the short ally on the left hand side! :) - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - San Francisco, California

My only complaint was the location. If you think you are right where the address says it is but you still can't find it, go IN to the fish market. Yep keep going. A little further. His "store" is a counter in the back of the fish market. He has enough keys in his little shop to open every door in San Francisco. Very quick service. Very cheap (2 sets of 2 keys and it was $4). He doesn't speak a whole lot of English but you can get your point across. It was close to our north beach home and open on a Saturday while many hardware stores downtown aren't. read more

Perfect experience, thank you Fon Locksmith & Yelp. My "high security"/do not duplicate key was going to cost me $20 at my usual place in the Mission. A little extra legwork and got it done here for $3.50. Getting a good deal feels best when you manage to "cheat the system" and get the better of those who would be cheating you. read more

Two keys made in 2 minutes for under $5 and the keys came with a cute little label tag keyring too. What more can you ask for? You can also buy some fresh fish on your way out! read more

First off - THANK YOU, Cara C. I would not have known to "go IN to the fish market" in order to find this locksmith. I walked here from the Financial District yesterday because I figured I'd get keys made and also buy some dim sum for lunch from one of the many places lining Stockton Street (I totally don't just go on a trek that far - and UPhill at that - for the exercise or "the heck of it"). There was no line, took him under 5 minutes to make 3 sets of my house key and it came up to a grand total of $2.40. I can't remember the last time doing/buying anything was that simple. I almost wish I had more keys to copy... read more

Amazing service! I do want to call out that you need to walk into the fish market and the small stand is on the left. If I hadn't seen that in a review, I probably would have walked right by the fish market. Great that they were open on a Sunday. I went to get a key copied. Very nice gentleman working there. He stopped what he was doing to make my keys. It took him maybe 1 minute and cost only $1 per key! He put them on a key ring, and I've confirmed that they work! Sweet! I'll take all my keys here. read more

This is my first Yelp review; I have visited a lot of restaurants/businesses but never felt the overwhelming desire to write something, especially for the ones that already have 300+ glowing reviews. However, Fon Locksmith deserves the FULL five stars. It is super hard to find so I think Yelp should help a lot for this little establishment. He copied two keys for the cheapest price I know exist for key copying (more than half off from a locksmith in North Beach), the service was nice and the keys work perfect. DEFINITELY go here if you need your keys copied! read more

Quick, cheap, efficient. 4 Keys for $9. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. A very nice guy who's really happy to help you. Was willing to do my "Do Not Duplicate" keys. He simply gave me a warning that schools or doormen might not like it. Like the other reviewers said, it's a bit hard to find. Walk into the smelly fish market to the back, and on the left side you'll see a stand type thing loaded with keys and locks and junk of all sorts with a dude at the counter. read more

Super cheap and fast! I think I copied six keys and it was a little more than $2? The only drawback is its location. It's located behind a Chinese fish shop, so make sure you walk through the smell and the watery floor to get your locks done! read more

Last minute I needed some copies. Walked in (behind fish mart). Fon stopped what he was working on, and in less than 4 minutes he was done. Total time: 3 minutes Total keys: 2 sets It was like $2.30 total (cash only) 5/5 stars the guy is the truth read more

I made it there yesterday at 5.58 pm (2 mins before closing) and asked if he could make a copy of my scooter key. (Keep in mind I anticipated that the answer would be no - because no one stocks 1985 Honda scooter key blanks, right?) Within 6 minutes, I got a scooter key copy - he made it from a longer, existing key blank (cut for length), and told me to try it. It cost $4.50. He told me to come back if it doesn't work. Guess what? I'm back for a second copy. It worked! Wow. $4.50 without finding the blank. Amazing. And nice guy - originally from Vietnam. He does speak English, just not lots. Happy riding! read more

Faster and better than any key machine copy for 1.5 and 2 bucks that took about 5 minutes.

So friendly, so cheap, so fast. : ) $1 a household key or $2 for a first-level security key. Heads up it's a booth located down the hall of a fish market, but you'll recognize it immediately from all the keys and locks hanging on the walls of the booth. read more

Quick service I had him rekey 3 locks. He did it under 30 minutes. If I ever need a key I will go to him

Iconic. I had gone to Cole hardware to get a mailbox key copied and they were unable to do so (I literally tried twice). Fon Locksmith was able to make two copies (that both worked!) and only for $5. A literal gem of a place! read more

Note: Locksmith speaks mostly Cantonese, lucky I had a friend on-hand. Called around 3pm to get one of those typical handle-locks done; the gentleman said he could come after 6pm when he closed his shop. Said he would charge $25-$45. Upon arrival, he said this was a tough lock, and he might have to end up drilling it. After some fiddling with picks, he settled on drilling out the core, and charge as he had said--$40. Very happy with this experience, considering the possibilities! read more

Went in to have a pair of keys copied, and it was cheap ($1.50/key) and fast. Owner was very friendly and the keys worked great. The office is a bit hidden. Just find the address (1135 Stockton) and walk inside past the merchants selling fish. Fon is on the left-hand side about halfway down the building. read more

Absolutely pleasant to work with. Father son dynamic duo team. They change locks out fast and do lots of as-needed type work. Thank you for providing locks, saving locks that work and organizing and consulting parts to save money. read more

I called Fon after calling a bunch of other locksmiths in town at 6pm when I got locked out of my apartment. Obviously, freaking out and hoping I'd find a locksmith in Soma and not finding any... The person I called asked me to call his son, in Belmont, who not only came out here in a half hour in traffic, fixed the lock to my original keys, and charged me three times less than the last time I was forced to do this. Highly, highly, recommend their service and pricing. read more

It's tucked away in a fish market in Chinatown, so can be a little hard to find. I came here on Memorial Day because every other place was closed! I need 12 keys to be copied, and it was completed in 10 minutes. I went out, ate some dim sum next door, came back, and the finishing touches were being made to my keys. The owner also offered to fix them again if they didn't quite fit the locks perfectly. For my 12 copies, it was $19, which I think is a great price. Note that this place is cash only! read more

Came here to get a number of keys copied. The man does good work. Very quick, efficient, and friendly. I had four keys made and was out of there within five minutes. Came home to try them out and they were perfect. The location is a little hidden down the hallway from the fish market out front, so be advised for some god awful foul stench read more

Can you say professional!!! What good service and exceptional time management. I was in and out before I knew it. If you need a locksmith while in SF give them a call read more

5+ years of using Yelp and it's about time I wrote my first review... because this guy is amazing. I handed him my key, he analyzed it, frowned a little and asked me if I've had problems opening my door with the key. I've definitely had some problems opening my door, but I had always assumed it was the lock itself, so I just said it works but wasn't GREAT. He starts working away and within 5 minutes, hands me a new key, charges me a negligible price and tells me to come back if I encounter any issues. I couldn't help being a bit skeptical at first, but I got home and tested the key and sure enough, it actually works much better than my original. Proves that not all keys are equal. Highly recommend. Cutting through the fish market to get here was also kind of a cool experience. read more

Outsmarted myself by putting a little padlock on the charging cord on my Ford Fusion when I parked it at Sutter Stockton. The good news is that no one could pull the plug out. The bad news was that neither could I, since I had forgotten that I'd lost the key! Called Fon after seeing 5 stars on Yelp. He was on the scene in 10 minutes flat, and had the lock open in about 90 seconds. The tab: $45.00. Itemized by me: Travel time: $3.00; lock picking time $2.00; knowing what he's doing: $40.00. And worth every penny!! read more

Came back and made 3 keys. I think he increased the price, because it's $5 for 3 now. It used to be $0.90 per key 2 years ago. But he's great and quick, so it's still worth it! read more

Found this place in the back of a fish market. The man looked at me and I gave him my key. One minute and $1.50 later, I had a duplicate. No fancy keys here but that's fine with me. Went home and it worked, but it was hard to turn. Hesitant but not wanting an imperfect key, I went back. Fon looked at it, gave me a "no problem" look and went to work. Now I have a perfect working key! Thanks! read more

Quick service, great copies of keys. Overall great experience!

My go-to shady locksmith place. I needed a key copied which had "do not duplicate" on it and thinking Ace Hardware would probably not do it for me, I went to my reliable place in chinatown. For $1.30, I was in and out in less than 2 minutes. Oh yeah and it's behind the fish/poultry market. I wonder what the guy pays for rent and what he does all day. No TV set up or anything.
