Saturday lunch around 11:30am, not a line but they did get a bit busier. I've been here a few times & I'm surprised it wasn't as busy for a weekend. It's really just great food, nothing fancy but delicious. I had the lobster roll, I came with coleslaw & fries. I'm not a coleslaw person but it was pretty good. The fries were perfect & they have that good ranch. The lobster roll itself was on Texas toast, buttery toasted goodness with meaty lobster. I'm definitely going to have to go back for this sometime soon, it was $20 for my meal. My friend had chicken strips, no complaints there & we shared a basket of fried pickles. Clean restaurant, fast service, tasty food, & friendly staff. Prices are fair, no concerns with menu options for everyone. Fun, chill place with a lot of fishing decor & photos. Came on a Tuesday afternoon and had the special Caddo (tilapia and shrimp over rice with a creamy sauce). It was pretty good and I was surprised at how thick the tilapia was. Shrimp on top was a little chewy, but acceptable. DH had the shrimp po boy and it really could have used four or five more shrimp. More bread than anything. I tasted his fries and they seemed to have been fried in old oil. I love hush puppies, but could only eat a small bite of the one I tried. Again, old frying oil that soaked the entire hush puppies. There are fish photos all over the walls, which are kind of fun to look at. Will be back because we have friends that like their Tuesday special, but overall the food is just OK. read more

Check another Flying Fish location off my list. This one is as good as any of the others. I've said it many times, Shannon Wynne has built several restaurant concepts successfully. This is one of my favorites. No matter which one you dine at, constancy of food quality and preparation, service and atmosphere is always a pleasant experience. This place is very good. You do need to make sure and order the right thing. Get fish. It's not called Flying Fish because the red beans and rice are so good. The fried grouper plate is hands down the best thing on the menu. I ask them to put grouper filet on a po boy for me. Staff are nice. Great place. I do recommend. read more

I cannot believe it has been 13 years since I wrote a review on Flying Fish. We are still regulars at this establishment. We go on Sunday for dinner about once a month. One reason is the Flying Fish Grub Club is a great deal. We get a buy one meal get one free each month. Another reason is the service is always very good. I have tried most of the food on the menu, but I stick with the catfish and shrimp. They have plenty of different seafood to eat like oysters, and fish cooked many ways. The draft Shiner beer on Sunday is a good price. You order in the line then have a seat. They will buzz when the food is ready to pick up. They have a nice patio to sit in if you like outdoor eating. read more

A friend invited me out for an early dinner and we decided on this place. What a nice treat for the evening as I'd never been before. We walked in and you place an order and are given a number to await your food. The options were plentiful and I decided to give the salmon tacos a try. To my surprise they came out in a crispy corn tortilla shell along with red beans and rice and a side of pico de gallo. The tacos were topped with coleslaw and some sort of creamy sauce. It was very flavorful and fulfilling. It comes with 3 tacos and stuffed with tons of salmon. I could hardly get into the 3rd taco because I was already stuffed. I wanted to try a dessert but I would've toppled over. Lol. I can't wait to go back and try the catfish! Everything I saw come out looked very good. Great first time experience there. read more

Also got 1# crawfish. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well BUT the crawfish was NOT PURGED! Gross! Disgusting! If we wanted to eat poop we would have gone for fast food. Purge your crawfish. The flying fish is kind of an Arlington classic. It's basically fried fish and fries which sounds kind of basic but it's really good and the best part is they have a great selection of alcohol and beer to enjoy with your fish. My brother and I went because he really wanted a beer and we ended up having a great time just talking to people out on the porch. One of the best parts was one of my former students was working at the counter, and we had a great time catching up and the manager was hysterical. What I like about it is it's very laid-back and it's a great place to go with a large group because you can sit at many tables and just talk to people. It's very chill. I found this place while visiting my old stomping grounds near UTA. How much it's changed. I went in and loved the vibe. They had Texas Rangers memorabilia and other mismatch items on display. The staff was friendly I had the lobster roll with fries, which was a special they recommended. The bread was soft and had herb butter and lobster was good. It could use a bit more salt. The fries were perfect. All the diners had a catfish fish basket. Must be really good and will have to try next time! read more

Some dishes we ordered were 5 stars like the fried crawfish on jambalaya . Yummy! The lobster roll was also good and served in a toasted garlic bread. Good but pricy! The disappointing meal was the 12 fried shrimp which was 24 bucks. The shrimp were super over fried, so that was not good, just over fried. The keylime pie was delicious! read more

I usually stop by Flying Fish when in Arlington. I ordered the Red fish basket and the two piece catfish basket togo. Very disappointed in both. The batter was thicker than the fish in both cases. I couldn't believe how thin the fish was. I left a complaint on the Flying Fish website and di not hear back even though there is a sign inside the restaurant asking to do so. I have the frequent visit punch card but it looks like the freeby you would get is about as thin as the card. read more

The ambiance was casual and the service was fine. This was our first and last trip to this restaurant because our meal was below average. The batter on the shrimp and oysters wasn't good at all. Fortunately, the batter was lighter on the shrimp which allowed the shrimp flavor to come through. As for the oysters, the batter was heavier and overpowered the flavor of the oysters. This was very disappointing since I specifically stopped here for the oysters! Fried oysters are one of my favorite foods, and I've eaten them across the country. These by far are the worst I've ever had. Even after removing the batter, they lacked flavor and didn't have the distinct briny flavor you get from "fresh" Gulf of Mexico oysters. The best part of the meal were the tiny hush puppies. I'm unsure how they couldn't get fried seafood right. Frying makes everything better, except for here. Oh well, not every stop is a home run. read more
