A little boutique located in ward village, with one of the worst customer experience ever. I walked in late this afternoon, was not greeted, you probably won't even notice anyone working here either because they don't make themselves visible or do they acknowledge if you need help or looking for anything in particular, or even say thank you, come again. LOL! I wonder if anyone walks out with things from this place? Well, they do have nice jewelry among other things and it's very disappointing that this place doesn't provide the service the customer is looking for. I found Flotsam & Co on Instagram. The creations from this shop are beautiful. Luckily, I got my chance to explore the shop on March 1st. The associate (sorry forgot to ask for her name) was nice and answered my questions about their products. If you're like me, I am very low maintenance with a nickel allergy and worried about if the metal will tarnish. These don't. Ask if you go into the physical or online store. Try on the products too if you go to the storefront. I saw this beautiful Ethiopian Opal necklace and bracelet but decided not to get it. I got a custom bracelet/bangle. The process was easy with picking what metal color, shells, sea glass, or pearls I wanted. The first add on is free and additional are at a cost. I went with this beautiful brown sea glass and puka shell in a gold setting. They measure what size you want. Give your name, number, and be patient for the text notification. Shipping is available. Another store associate helped me today with the pickup. I love the bangle so far. Can't wait to wear it every day! Thank you again Flotsam and Co for making my day. This review is based on the customer service or lack of. I was on the hunt to look for a gift for my girlfriend's birthday. I love the Aloha Collection splash proof bags and decided to get her one too. I walk in and there's a lady at the counter. Not once did she speak to me. I walked around the entire store maybe around 5 times and even lingered in front of her looking at things. Silence. Did I mention I was the only one in the store? I finally walk up to the register and no joke, about another minute passes until she looks up and says anything. Once I have her attention, she was nice, but gezzus, I would've bought more stuff if she helped me locate a price for a few Turkish towels I was looking at or offered to check for more of a selection. I explain that this is a gift for my friend and if she could help me wrap it. Her version was scotch tape on a brown paper bag. I asked if I could just have the price removed and requested I finish "wrapping" it myself because she kept folding and regolfing the bag. It was looking so hamajag that I had to take over and salvage what ever left I could of the bag. I will say this, I got their customer survey and expressed my disappointment to which they apologized. I thought that was nice of them, but the lack of attention and service that lady gave was just unacceptable. Will I be back to purchase more of those splash proof bags? Yeah, but if I can find it somewhere else, I may pass on shopping here. read more

Wandered in here by random yesterday and loved it! As a huge lover of crystals, it was so nice to see a good variety of crystal jewelry offered. A lot of crystal jewelry can be so bulky sometimes so it was nice to see dainty pieces that fit my style preference. The meaning and use of each crystal was even posted next to each section so the buyers could see the intentions of each stone. While wandering, the sales associate Karen came to help me look around. I had my eyes set on a moonstone bracelet and she was so knowledgeable about the stone. Come to find out, shes a huge stone lover and even makes some of the jewelry in the store! I love that the people who work there have a passion for the jewelry they offer! I purchased the bracelet and love it so far. You are able to bend it to fit your wrist and the moonstone has a beautiful blue flash. Will definitely be returning to add new pieces to my jewelry collection! read more

Unique shop full of interesting things to look at! Very rarely do I see so many great jewelry items that I like in a shop and then learn that the owner finds all of her own shells on the beach or diving and makes all of the pieces herself - now that is cool! What a neat local artist business! I love how knowledgable the staff is here and how much information is available (posted on little signs) about the various stones etc. I noticed the cute Aloha bags and asked the salesperson about them. She explained the whole history of the flight attendants and the wet bathing suits etc - it's always a great feeling to learn something new while retail shopping. It enhanced the experience and really connected me to the product. I had seen the bags elsewhere before but with little inspiration to actually spend so much money on what otherwise looks like a regular zip bag made of recycled sails. The salesperson let me know the bags are actually made out of tyvek, a waterproof material, and that the bags are waterproof from the inside and from the outside. This was great to know as I inevitably put my bag down on wet floors all the time and then am disappointed to find that my items inside the bag are also wet. If you spill your bottle of water inside the bag however, please note the seams are not taped and water will find it's way outside of the bottom of your bag. I learned that the hard way! Anyway, I digress. This shop is exactly the kind of store I love to find myself in with lots of time to explore. Unfortunately I didn't have much time the day I discovered it! Even before I worked for the Navy. The first time I ever saw an anchor was when I went up to Maine at the age of 8 and went out on my cousin's boat. As we headed out to hang out on the waters for a few hours, I saw him lower his anchor and I asked him, "What is that?" He replied, "An anchor, it steadies the boat by securing the boat to the bottom of the ocean." From that point on, I loved anchors!! This anchor kept the boat from rocking violently on that day and kept me from getting seasick!! That anchor was my hero!! Fast forward to 2017... As we waited for our name to be called for lunch, I started roaming around South Shore Market. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw what appeared to be an anchor and a US Navy Diver's Helmet. I only know what the diver's helmet looks like from watching Men of Honor (excellent and touching movie)!! As I walked in, I noticed that F&C is a small cute store which features some ALOHA themed bags, hats, and shirts as well as various seashell jewelry. Cool tip: The jewelry is made from shells that are actually retrieved by the owner when she goes diving!! I saw a few things that really caught my eye but by then our name was being called. I wish there were more anchor themed accessories but nonetheless a cute shop! F&C reminds me of a smaller version of Sand People. Parking is ample and FREE at South Shore Market. read more

I love love this store. Every time I come to south shore marketplace, I be sure to make to go to flotsam. All the pieces are so unique and given that these are all custom jewelry the price point is not too bad. I've purchased tons of jewelry here. I've even made a couple of custom bangles. I bought a stretchy bracelet and probably because I wore it so much, it started to stretch out. Karen restrung it for me for free. They also have aloha bags. I have found my new go-to for jewelry in Hawaii!! I happened to walk in here on my way to Piggy Smalls for dinner and was so impressed with the level of customer service provided by Karen. The store itself is beautiful. So many unique pieces of jewelry on display and it really has that beachy feel without being over the top or kitschy. I first thought the jewelry was a little expensive, but Karen explained that all the stones are natural (not dyed) and I could see how much time and effort she puts into curating the stones and making the pieces. Definitely worth the price point. I was in the store for probably an hour trying to pick out a ring for myself, when Karen recommended the moonstone ring. The stone reminded me of a galaxy/sailor moon type stone (which I LOVE) so I immediately knew I wanted that one. It took a while to pick out the exact ring because each stone is so different and unique. I finally picked one I adored only to realize that the stone was a little loose. I was offered other rings to replace the one I had chosen, but since I loved the stone so much, Karen offered to fix the ring and mail it to me in California, free of charge! I flew home to CA and a few days later received my gorgeous ring and I am IN LOVE! Probably one of my favorite pieces of jewelry that I've ever purchased. I can't wait to go back to Honolulu just so I can visit the store again! I think the jewelry pieces at Flotsam would also make very nice gifts (eg. bridesmaids, friend's birthdays) since the pieces are one of a kind. Super cute, unique jewelry store. I really love this place! You can tell the owner puts a lot of time into designing and making the products. They are all very beautiful with great quality. Normally my skin is very sensitive to fake jewelry, especially earrings. But she uses very high grade materials because my skin does not react to it and the prices are totally reasonable! It was a pleasure to work with Karen at Flotsam & Co. on jewelry for me and my wedding party. She custom made 6 lariat necklaces and 1 hand chain for us. She let me choose the stones and chain colors, which helped to make the jewelry and process feel personal and thoughtful. The finished products look so good and I know all of the girls will love it! It was very easy to talk to her. Conversation was timely. She is very knowledgeable on the special qualities of the stones she uses. Super happy with the custom bangle and other gift items I bought here. The owner/saleslady helped me find items in the display cabinet and gave good suggestions on making my bangle standout. Custom bangle is on the left side of the store and where you pick your shell and/or glass. After you pick you selection you pick what type of metal you want your bangle made out of and if you want a pearl added on. She also makes custom sizing. Itxs not the size 6-8 or half sizes that other places sell so thats why Im probably even more happier with my bangle. Takes a couple days for her to make it but she texts you when it's ready to be picked up. There's also cool beachy-like jewelry (gems, mineral-like, sea glass and shell) and sea themed pouches and clutches and small gift items. This is my go-to shop to buy gifts for friends and for the holidays when I want to send unique made in Hawaii gift items back to my friends and family on the mainland. There are always new things on display, the jewelry is handmade by a local jewelry designer and it looks like everything is thoughtfully curated and selected. It makes shopping so much easier bc I know whatever I pick up from the store has been made by local Hawaii artists which is hard to find without having to visit fifty shops in a row. Whenever I pop in there to pick something out, the fun part is getting to talk to some of the girls in the shop, a few of them are the artists themselves! So that's really neat to hear from them personally. I love how it's a friendly, no-pressure vibe where you can have as much or as little interaction with the sales people there as you look around. Sometimes I need a lot of help choosing out a gift and other times I just need to be able to decide on my own and in every case, the girls at Flotsam have always been helpful in advising me or giving me time to think which I appreciate as a former retail person. I also had custom jewelry made by Karen at the shop several times for my mom and my sister-in-law and it's been over a year since they received it and they still email me to tell me when they get compliments from the jewelry! She is very creative and passionate about her craft and is so knowledgeable. There are always new pieces whenever I stop by the store and she has even made me custom items. Not only that, but she was a great help to us when we were customizing a ring for my wife. I have admired Flotsam & Co for a long time and I'm so greatly disappointed with the service i received there. I ordered a custom bangle and I didn't end up liking the way it turned out (my fault not theirs). So after messaging Karen who makes the bangles she said that for $10 they'd be happy to change the metal of the bangle. I live in Ewa so its quite a trek to get out to the store front, after the hassle of getting there in the first place I then had to wait for the girl working the counter to get the information from her boss to confirm that the situation and prices I said were correct. The girl also tried to talk me out of making changes to the bangle which really got on my nerves, I'm a paying customer and I'm paying for the changes I didn't understand why she was pushing so hard for me to keep a product I was unhappy with. The changes I wanted done included: a change of the bangle metal (gold filled instead of the rose gold), for the bangle to be a little bit bigger (it gave me bruises the first time I tried it on even though I ordered it in the same size of all my other bangles) and to remove the piece of beach glass (which was still somewhat sharp and uncomfortable on the bangle). I then had the bangle shipped to me so I wouldn't have to make another trip out to own. I received my bangle just moments ago and after all that headache and hassle my bangle was still wrong. I kind if felt that something was going to go wrong when I noticed that the girl in the store wasn't actively writing anything down while I was telling her what I wanted changed. The bangle itself was sandwiched in two piece of cardboard which just looked terrible. But when i finally sawed through all the tape on the card board sandwich I was so disappointed to find that piece of beach glass was still there on the bangle. Thankfully the metal and the sizing were better but even after all that headache and extra payment my bangle is still wrong and I'm so incredibly frustrated. I don't plan to purchase another bangle from Flotsam anytime soon, and wouldn't recommend it. I also noticed while looking at their Aloha Collection bags that a lot of the little trinket items in their store are marked up a few dollars than if you were to but them online from the original companies. read more
