A few years ago the business was sold and moved into the McCully Moiliili area of Honolulu. The newer location is much more convenient for me. There is a lot of parking as it shares parking lot with multiple other businesses and business offices including Fujiyama Texas Hawaii Kushi-Katsu. This location is much smaller compared to the previous location in Kalihi. Still, you will find the nicest ladies happy to provide superior service. One can shop from the clothing in store OR choose the materials and style desired and have something created for you. This week when I picked up my dress I could see the ladies busy making dresses for the young ladies graduating from Iolani School. Soon it will be for Hawaii's festivities for May's lei day. Then there are proms and graduations... I was told that their off the hangar collections will probably not get fuller until June or July. I am looking forward to returning then! I came in here with my sister to look for a shirt for her fiance. For men I'm not too sure. To get a better picture of what fabrics they have the sales lady took us to the fabric room. Oh my I was in heaven. From ceiling to floor, rows and rows of fabric in every color you can imagine. We were looking for a white/off white color fabric. The sales lady busted out all these rolls to choose from. Then we narrowed it down to the specific print we liked. And presto we got our fabric for the shirt. She even cut us a sample fabric to match the design and color with any other outfits. I think my sister is planning to get a matching muumuu to change into after the ceremony. Then they have a matching outfit to where in the future! The staff was very helpful. Very willing to help meet our needs. Makes a bride to be feel very special for their special day.

We were wandering about International Market Place (IMP) for the Chinese New Year (January 25,…read more2020) when we stumbled across this new location for Noa Noa Hawai'i. Located at street level in IMP's Queen's Court, you can't miss this store from its authentic batik apparel and South Pacific artifacts. Walking into this store, I was drawn to some of the Polynesian tapa prints and Southeast Asian looking patterns. Also, you should know that EACH item is unique or one-of-a-kind as there aren't racks of different sizes in the same color combination(s) or style to choose from. The saleswoman told me that each item is authentic Balinese batik. The batik patterns and styles are made in Indonesia. The hand batiked garments are made of natural fabrics (cottons, rayons, silks and linens). Along with apparel, you can accessorize with artisan jewelry or shoulder bags. Because I was visiting the IMP with family, I chose not to try on a couple of dresses that had attracted my eyes. But, I'll be back soon!

I'd forgotten to pack a hat for this trip and might not have had a chance to buy one if I hadn't run across Mori by Art + Flea, after a meeting in the same building. The shop was very cute, with a sort of museum shop aesthetic: clean and colorful with lots of interesting merchandise, much of it made by local small businesses and artists. I didn't have time to do a full browse, but I definitely liked what I saw. There were a few baseball caps available, and I picked a flexible black one with a pink hibiscus patch sewn on the front. I wore it almost every day for the rest of my trip, from Hawaii to the Philippines. The cap made a nice souvenir, and I continue to get use out of it at home. I'm glad Mori appeared when it did. It's a great shop, definitely worth checking out if you're in Honolulu.
