Almost forgot to Yelp this adorable gift shop in Honolulu, where I purchased a very nice baseball cap. I'd forgotten to pack a hat for this trip and might not have had a chance to buy one if I hadn't run across Mori by Art + Flea, after a meeting in the same building. The shop was very cute, with a sort of museum shop aesthetic: clean and colorful with lots of interesting merchandise, much of it made by local small businesses and artists. I didn't have time to do a full browse, but I definitely liked what I saw. There were a few baseball caps available, and I picked a flexible black one with a pink hibiscus patch sewn on the front. I wore it almost every day for the rest of my trip, from Hawaii to the Philippines. The cap made a nice souvenir, and I continue to get use out of it at home. I'm glad Mori appeared when it did. It's a great shop, definitely worth checking out if you're in Honolulu. read more

I love going to Mori by Art and Flea! The curation of art, clothing, household goods, and more is so much fun to browse through! The person at the counter is always helpful. And although some items might be on the pricey side, they're definitely worth it! I've bought art, a candle (highly recommend the banana bread scent), and a keychain from them recently and love all my purchases! read more

A beautiful little with so many art inspired items.....I think, as I can never seem to get in. Im talking about the store in the Capital Modern. I was there twice this week, on July 29th, and again today August 1. On the 29th, the store was open when I first got there, making a mental note to check it out at the end. I looked at the wonderful galleries and then went to the shop, "be right back" the sign said. I returned about 20 minutes later, still not open. I returned today, August 1, because there was a specific item I saw through the closed windows last time. Went right to the shop, "be right back" again. Its 230 pm now, the hours are only until 3pm. I asked the nice security officer if it was going to reopen, and to his credit, he called the proprietor. They are in a meeting I was told. I waited a few more minutes, noting how close it was to closing, clearly they weren't coming back. Our family supports the arts, specifically, our local arts as much as possible. Its painful because I saw (through the window) so many items that would have made perfect gifts. Local artists have a hard enough time getting support for their work. Anyway, we probably won't return. Thank you. read more

As a crafter this place is just filled with inspirations that I absolutely adore! With classic decor touches filled here and there the randomness is a fun that any local can admire and appreciate. This shop is absolutely lovely, I have purchased a ton here for myself and as gifts to others. I can always find something. To me it's the best local art shop in town. That's when the shop is open. Ok multiple occasions I have came to shop and have found a "be right back" sign. No big deal I think and look around at the other stores or get a coffee. After that I will usually wait on the benches for 10-15 minutes. No one ever comes back to reopen the store. I've done this a few times and it's so disappointing and a waste of time. I come to ward specifically for this shop and this happens 50% of the time. It's a great shop but don't go to ward just for this store, because more than likely you won't be able to shop there. read more

If you love art you NEED to come here. Mori houses the art of local artists/designers - giving them a platform to sell their wares. All about supporting local art and local businesses. They also have pop-ups in their store for local and/or upcoming artists that want to feature their works. Also the 5 stars is because the name "Mori" almost sounds like my last name. Ujimori. LOL Ms. Sasaki, the owner of Mori, is the amazing curator and event planner behind all of HiSAM's events as well as New Wave Friday, which are probably the best trendy events to go to on-island. read more

I absolutely love this store filled with local artists clothing jewelry pottery cosmetics and other fun stuff! My most recent trip here I see they've really stocked up and have much more inventory. I had a great conversation with Todd who gave me information about upcoming events at Hisam the Hawaii State Art Museum where Mori by Art and Flea has a gift shop. Great place to shop for unique, beautiful, quirky items! A little pricey but well worth it. Aly and staff are all very welcoming and friendly. They have special events often, which have themes and are always really fun! There is usually a photo booth by PhotoOpsHawaii and some other activities. Sometimes Mori also hosts fun workshops, such as terrarium building (I think you have to RSVP). Art + Flea has a monthly event with a rotating theme as well. There are a bunch of yummy food vendors on top of arts and crafts vendors and live entertainment. Great fun for all ages! Support local artists and meet some cool people at Mori! A good "flea market" is hard to come by, let alone a GREAT one. But here I am, writing a review about the ABSOLUTE BEST place you'll find on Oahu for artisan-produced radness. No, this is NOT a crystals and candle shop - it's way better! You'll find a wide range of artist-designed, bespoke greeting cards, stickers, t-shirts, ceramics, jewelry, and lots of other lovely items. That's the "Art" part of "Art and Flea". The "Flea" comes interspersed throughout the store, where you'll be surprised by fun and well-curated vintage stuff you didn't even know you needed in your life. Also: great vibey Hawaiian vinyl section unlike any other record store on the island. Primo spot all-around! read more

I like Mori because they sell products created by local designers and artists. They have some random things in their store and little trinkets that make good gifts. I have bought so many of their cards because they're cute and funny. The cards make me smile and I've given them for as gifts which people love, This store is located in Ward Village among the other local stores. Some things can seem a little pricey but I don't mind because I like supporting local vendors. I keep coming back for their cards and even buy some in advance for special occasions. You can get one for $5 or 3 three for $12. It's a cool store and I will be back for more creative cards! read more

A fun store in Ward Warehouse that carries locally crafted goods. Don't be fooled - these items are done very well and the store is set up with lots of room to move around and examine the wares. I found themed buttons, children's clothing, adult clothing, note cards, jewelry - you name it. Reasonably priced, too! Located in ward warehouse- this is a super cool space dedicated to local artists and designers! They even had a little class going on today- a group of 15 or so making those neat tiny terrariums, I think.. Anyways, this is the place to find neat one-of-kind items made and designed by your local talent.. The vendors/designers will rotate every 3 months.. At least from what I was told! This place is great for little nik naks and paddy wacks. Bunch of different random things you can find. I like this store because they sell these SOHOM brand rose gold earring studs. Currently on my third pair as I do have a tendency to lose them or have them knocked out from playing sports. Upon entering the store, one may begin to feel overwhelmed with all the different random products. Everything from wall arts, framed drawings, authentic shirts, an array of different cups,... you name it. Best part, everything here is made local. Yes, a place that combines local vendors products so rare and unseen by the rest of the outside world. A beautifully curated store with goodies made from local artisans. This is a really great place to buy small gifts for friends and family. My personal fave brands in this shop are MISTPRINT (her cards are the best), Kisiwa jewelry, ADIDAP's shirts and pins, Overmind clothing, Wawe pins, and the Andy South shirts for men. The Bee's Cotton Wrap reusable alternative to saran wrap is also great and comes in a variety of fun prints. It's a fun shop to browse through and there is so much great selection! read more

I've noticed that service is hit or miss with Mori. Lately, it's been a hit.Today I visited their new location at South Shore Market for Small Business Saturday. I bought a card and pins by Mistprint. Mistprint has fun designs, go check them out! When service has been a miss it's because I was completely ignored. This was a while ago, several months back. There was a clerk that wasn't even on the floor. She was in the dressing room which left the entire store seemingly empty. When she walked out of the dressing room, she was on the phone and kept talking until I was ready to pay. Since I was the only one in the store, I got to hear her complain about working (it was a Friday) while everyone else was going out. I haven't seen her in the several times I've been back since then. I am taking it as a good sign she is no longer there. The other times service was lacking were not as severe, but not great. read more

I saw this shop on a Japanese TV show that introduces local shops and knew I had to visit! I walked in here today without being greeted. I was the only one in the store at that time. As I slowly looked around the store, still no 'hello, how are you?' or 'let me know if you need anything'. Granted there was only one person working at that time who was on a phone call, there is always a way to acknowledge your customer. Before I even walked out, she disappeared to the back, still on the phone. That's when I walked out, not interested in ever coming back. read more

This store has very cute, interesting & unique merchandise indeed! BUT like many other yelpers, I have to say that customer service is a total FAIL! I've probably been in this store 3-4 times, hoping & wishing that customer service will be better this time. I seriously really want to like this store and support local, but I'm sorry if the salesperson is going to continue to stare at her laptop and not acknowledge the customers in the store time and time again, then I am not and will not spend my money here. At first, this place didn't seem like the kind of store I would get excited about. My initial impression was that it was kind of pricey and maybe a little too eclectic for my taste. But after looking more closely, I fell in love with their cute greeting cards and other adorably quirky products. The cards are really unique, thoughtfully themed, and definitely cater to the young, local crowd. We also found some amazing Harry Potter buttons that were designed beautifully and had clever references on them, like "Boo you horcrux" and "Team Gryffindor." Between the two of us, we ended up buying about ten of them... And for $3 each, it was totally worth it! They also had some chic jewelry, clothing, and other trinkets. If you like designs that are smart and fresh, with just the right touch of local flair, this is the place to find all those things you don't *really* need, but just have to have. read more
