This is the first time I visiting this store. It's not like a regular clothing store, the items they sell here most likely you cannot get this in a Macy's store. If you're into shooting combat, pinball, hunting, you're probably can find something's that you like. It is a fun store to walk around. I did not find anything that fits me yet. read more

Hunting for the items... 5.11 Tactical is located in La Tour Plaza that's right off of Nimitz Highway which you can easily see just before making the turn to enter the building. Love the selection that they have for tactical or an outdoor gears with lots of items that I've seen friends shop here for though never used them myself know that I can find them here for gifts and is a great place to shop for both men and women and i did find a jacket but didn't have my size unfortunately but the prices here are great and will check back again. The staff here is friendly and was helpful with some questions and with lots of free parking just steps away from the door there's no need to maneuver yourself to browse and find what you need. I heard about this place from a coworker. I decided to check them out. Nice place. Pretty open. Good selection. A lot of gear. People seemed nice but a little busy. I think something was wrong with their system. All-in-all, a decent experience. That being said. I'm a bigger guy. Their shirt sizes from what I saw go up to about 2-3XL. The biggest their pants went up to was 40x30. Which is just a bit short on me. I may have seen a 42x30 but not much. So be aware, if you're on the bigger side, the selection for clothes may be limited. You can still buy other things there though. read more

5.11 is probably the only place to get some clothes and gear that you may not get at other brick-and-mortar stores in Hawaii, like wicking fabric shirts, but more so the durable and high quality pants. The store is not as big as the mainland stores but something is better than nothing and I think you can order online. I'd say 5.11 fills a niche that Hawaii is lacking. I'm just docking a star because of limited sizing and slightly higher prices than what I see in the mainland. read more

She asked us what we came in for and kept on checking on us during our time shopping in the store. She offered items to us and also got us the sizes that we needed. She exemplified great customer service. They have a great variety of clothing for both women and men and have them in all the different sizes. They also carry shoes, bags, belts, and many other tactical gear. It's great that they have a local store to be able to get what you need right away. If they do not have the item you are looking for in stock they are also able to order it for you and get it shipped to the store for free where you can pick it up. read more

The gentleman who seems to be the manager is just angry at the world, short answered, no offer of assistance or alternative options. Stood there like an idiot with absolutely no help while 2 workers and a manager stand behind the counter talking about their weekend. I was maybe 15 feet away, the only customer, and they fail to acknowledge that I'm even there. No customer service is worse than bad customer service. Buyer Beware. I've had issues with 511 in the past. For example: I ordered the womens nora shorts online. They were 34.49 a piece. However when I received them in the mail the tags read 18$ a piece. So I recently noticed they are having an online and in store sale. The shorts online were saying $20.64. However due to my experiences ordering online in the past I decided to just drive to the store. At the store I found the same shorts marked for $44 and no sale signs or anything. I asked the associate what was going on since online they were 20.64 and he totally gave me the run around and tried to give me an answer about how if they have a red tag it's 30% off but then I stated there was no red tag. I ended up making him scan them and then they were $29 and then got 30% off that price like it originally was online. Then when I went and paid he conveniently stuck a red tag sticker on them which wasn't on them prior. All I'm saying is beware when you shop here. You will end up paying full price even if it's on sale. They aren't pricing their stuff right to make it match and if I didn't do my research I guarantee I would have left there paying the full price on an item that was clearly on sale. Their values are sketchy and if it wasn't for having to buy my work clothes here I would not shop here at all. read more

Fun place to browse and supper happy with the shoes I found. Well, technically Jeffrey found it for me as it was dressed on a mannequin on the showroom floor. So glad they have it noted in the computer...helps when you're looking for a size that isn't on the shelf. Letting you know that I was fortunate with the front door parking stall this morning, there's about three stalls that's "signed" off for 5.11 patronage. Coming in this store as a loyal 5.11 customer, and leaving feeling like a criminal. Having ptsd every time I drive by this store. Images of the tattooed women with many piercings still haunt me, and I can still hear her voice in my head. I went in the store last week and spent some time in the sales section checking out the deals, and found a jacket that I like was marked on sale. I went to check out, the girl with tattoos seemed very disgruntled ran it up and it did not show the sale price, so I asked "isn't it on sale"? She said no it's not. Then why is it marked as such. She said "I don't know", then she looked at me and said "I understand times I are hard now and people do whatever it takes" suggesting that I tampered with the sale tag. I took her to the sale rack and show her there is a whole rack of the same jackets that are marked on sale and asked her to honor the price, but she angrily said "NO I AM NOT HONORING IT". Still trying to blame it on me having to tampering with the sale tags instead of admitting it is their faults by keep saying that "I understand times are hard". She seemed very angry at me for no reason. At this point there was no use trying to talk some sense to her, because she obviously doesn't have or care about customer service. Purchased two pairs of pants from the 5.11 website and read online that I'm allowed to return in store. So I drove from Ewa to town to return the pants and the associate told me they can't take it back because they don't carry the styles in store, I tried explaining that their website allows it and I have the original receipt along with the package and told me it was "store policy" no where does it say that it's store policy which leads me to believe he just pulled it out of his a$$ because he didn't want to process a return like it's coming out of his paycheck. Now if it really is a hidden store policy, it would be nice to let customers know what can and cannot be returned to store from an online order because per website policy, it clearly says I can. read more

If you're looking for gear from tactical to adventure, 5.11 tactical should be at the top of your list. When I finally got my handgun permit and acquired my handgun, I also learned that it's better to have gear specifically for the range. 5.11 was one of the online companies I researched and bookmarked that I would go to one of their stores or a store that carried their gear when visiting the mainland. Well, I don't have to do that anymore because they finally have a location in Hawaii. If you're familiar where Tanaka's Saimin and La Tour Cafe is located on Nimitz, 5.11 is located in the same area right next to 7.11 (how cool is that?). When you walk through, you'll see that it's not a small shop but a nice size that carries gear for men and women ranging from clothing, accessories and shoes. If you're unsure, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to assist. Accessories such as first aid; kits for adventure; belt holders; pistol bags, travel bags and backpacks, etc. Note: If you're part of the crossfit community, their 5.11 vests that you seen in the crossfit Regionals is available online but they do carry weighted vests that is just as good. My husband wanted to check this place out cause he said he passes by it everyday on his way home from work. So this weekend we had the opportunity to do so and we are so happy we did! The one thing we noticed as we walked in was how tidy and organized the place was. It made our shopping experience much more pleasant trying to find things we wanted. My husband bought an Atac 2.0 8" boot which I really loved the color on! He also bought a long sleeve shirt that was on sale. My son who came along wanted a hoodie but couldn't make up his mind because he said he wanted a lot of other things from there. The store has many useful items like backpacks, shoes, clothing, and all types of accessories!! I think I found my new favorite store! We will definitely be back to get more items. The only downfall is that they share the parking lot with La Toure and Party City so they only have 3 parking spaces reserved for them located in front of their store. read more

Redcoat bootlickers. My husband went there during their business hours and they refused to serve him because they only serve "law enforcement" even though the announcement on the door says that they serve "law enforcement, first responders and essential employees". We stumbled upon this place on accident because we wanted to go to 7-11. My boyfriend immediately said we HAVE to go in. We went to the gun show at the blaisdell the past couple years and my boyfriend bought his backpack from them. He's been looking online at the backpacks since then but now we have the official store we can go to. The employees were super friendly and offered help and told us about the specials they have going on for Father's Day. I know my boyfriend was super excited to find this store. Along with all kinds of backpacks they have a bunch of clothing, knives and emergency kits. We look forward to visiting more often. read more

The buyer for NEX even purchased ball caps and t-shirts that have the now famous logo on it... merged with the Navy emblem. As part of my job, having quality gear is crucial to life or death. 5.11 always filled that niche where they had quality products that didn't break the bank. Sure, 5.11 stuff aren't as top notch quality as Crye and other top of the line mission critical type gear, but their stuff works. They're much better most other brands out there Enter the 5.11 store. I've been patronizing this store for a few years since they opened. The shelves here are always well stocked and had stuff I needed. In a pinch, I could grab something I need. Staff here is highly knowledgeable and friendly. There are many stuff here for regular guys too! For example, they have great quality snap button shirts. Yeah, snap button shirts work well for those concealed carrying, but even just wearing them in a regular setting, it's both comfortable and comes in many styles. 5.11's defender line of jeans are also the best jeans I've ever had. That's saying alot since I've had Evisu, True Religions, and Lucky. For those guys who need tactical boots, my favorite is the Halcyon in either waterproof or non waterproof. For under $150, they are among the most comfortable boots out there. Another amazing thing is that they back their products 100%. Yeah, sure, parking sucks here but sometimes it can't be that perfect. read more

The clothes here are well-made, durable, rugged, and for the most part look good, too. There are shirts that have snaps instead of buttons. Very handy if you need to take it off in a hurry. Hmm...I'm not sure why I would want to do that, but there must be a great, tactical reason for doing so! Since it's usually hotter than blazes here in Hawaii, shorts are the thing to wear when out and about on a hike in the mountains or in our urban concrete forest, and if you should fall down, they are rugged and unlikely to fall apart. Plus, they're loaded with pockets, which you can fill with all manner of hardware. The folks in here are helpful and will steer you in the right direction. Love this place!! I purchase my work gear at this place and I love the cargo pants here! Very comfortable and durable for the work I do. They have a variety of clothing and outdoor gear, coffees and other specialty items in this store. The exchange had some 5.11 tactical gear but none for women and this location had it all. It's a bit pricey but I think comfort is worth it. I get qalo rings here too when mine break or get lost, during Black Friday they had a huge sale that was pretty awesome because they had everything in stock and ready for the holidays. The people here were helpful and yes, the parking isnt great. I prefer the military style cargo pants, their Taclite Pro's. Its not baggy and holds all of my stuff, conveniently. I bought several pairs from different brands several years ago (online) and these were the best ones. I've had my current pair for at least 3 years and its time for new ones. They finally have one! I don't have to be in the mainland to shop at one of their stores!! All I can say, "It's about time!" Okay, for those of you reading this review who are not first responders or those in the military (especially the FOBbits... Google it) or tactical geeks, you won't understand the enthusiastic reaction that many of us have. Being able to shop for tactical apparel that can easily blend into the civilian city scape... being able to try things and not have to deal with just the website... it's a real plus in my book. The location is easily visible from Nimitz Highway, however, the parking may be tricky (as most popular places in Hawaii often is)... just be prepared to go around in the parking lot a few times, and your patience will be rewarded. It's so hard to find good tactical shops locally that carry enough different types is stick to satisfy those who use this equipment daily. I usually spend a day on my vacations to the mainland looking for tactical shops. Having a 5.11 here locally makes life so much easier! Now I can actually see in hand the products that I've been ordering online or hunting for on my vacations. 5.11 has always been one of my favored brands to shop for and having it here locally almost makes it too easy to buy everything you see! TACTICS: If you're coming from Nimitz, turn onto Alakawa Street, and then take a right to head into the whole La Tour complex parking. TAKE AN IMMEDIATE RIGHT in the parking lot to go towards Nimitz - parking is very limited in this area, but 5.11 has some shared spots in the parking lot, down on the right side right against Alakawa Street. DO NOT GO TO PARTY CITY OR LA TOUR CAFE. You can't park down there, and it takes forever to get back to where you can park. The store itself is located next to 7-11. It's like they got made at 7-11, and subtracted a two. Har har. This is a tactical clothing and accessories store. They sell gear to make your job or lifestyle safer or more convenient. They are essentially a gear shop, clothes included, that are great for the tactically-minded individual. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the store is pretty big.
