These boots were made for hiking and that's what I'm gonna do :) Thank goodness I saw Gregory at a pop up/event and he actually had my shoe size in a color and style that suits me. I was able to try on the pair, walk around in them, and learn more about their group from him. I really put it to the test today. My new shoes took me over 8,000 steps! This high cut protected my ankles and the wide front made it very comfortable with hiking socks. I really appreciated the sturdy sole because my shoes had fantastic grip on the slopes. At the end of the hike, I was totally safe. No slipping or sliding :) The best part about my purchase, this group plants a tree for every shoe sold! The front of the store says CLIMB ALOHA. You are in the right place for Uloha. The entrance looks like a tiny store, but once you go in, it is a huge store with super tall ceilings. Climbing wall in back to try out climbing shoes. Like most small businesses on the island, they have very knowledgeable staff that help you with aloha. The best place for hiking shoes and climbing gear if you want to avoid the big brand stores at the mall. The gear is priced right and their exchange policy is very reasonable for a small business. You have 30 days and you can get something else. They cannot survive as a business if they allowed refunds because tourists would buy gear, go hike or climb with it during their visit, and returned it afterwards. That would be a rental business! That's not what this store is. Same neighborhood as Hi Climb gym too! So convenient. SHOP SMALL! SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES so they stay in business and the big companies don't have a monopoly limiting the customer's options. read more

I went here recently for the first time to buy a pair of hiking shoes to go hiking in. I walked in and was greeted by a girl (who I think is the owners daughter) next second I heard a guy greeting me then after I was greeted by their dog. A big and super cool white poodle. I said I came here for some shoes and the girl assisted me by showing me where they are. I got a pair of salomons. They have a nice selection of that brand too. She asked me if I wanted to try on any other shoes. Paused for a long time staring at the other shoes then I told her no because I probably would be debating to buy a second pair of salomons. I wore it that weekend while I did a hike and I absolutely love it! It's comfortable and durable. I am not a guy who is into collecting sneakers or shoes but I will be looking forward to returning here to buy another pair of salomons. Btw previous to this I went to famous footwear and the sales guy told me about this place. Shout out to the guy at famous footwear for telling me of this place. Picked up a new pair of hiking shoes today after being SO tired of getting blisters in my other shoes. I was skeptical of putting such an investment into a pair of shoes, but if you're like me and hesitant JUST DO IT! The staff at Uloha were able to help me narrow down what I needed in a matter of minutes, and I was able to get in & out within 20 minutes to go do my inaugural run with my new shoes. These were like walking on clouds! So comfortable and supportive! The grip on them was outstanding, and it gave me so much confidence on the very muddy trail. No more slipping! Staffs are very friendly and offer a lot of help while we were shopping there. After Sport Authority closed, we have not much place to go to try on hiking shoes. Looking for a place to " try on" a few Osprey backpacks to see which one works for what I need and what fits best and found this place listed on the Osprey website. You walk in and there's a cute tent set up with camping mattresses and other camping supplies. The place has a nice feel. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable they showed me multiple packs and the differences between them without being pushy. They made my Mom feel comfortable enough that she tried on a pack and loved it- she had on,y come along to keep me company. There's a climbing store in the back. This place is the worst, anything you buy and for some reason it doesn't work out. They won't give your money back only a in store credit. You only have 30 days to bring back what you are returning only to get a in store credit. If after you just paid for something then change your mind, they will not refund anything, they just trap you with a in store gift card which is insane. They try to push you into buying a lot more than you wanted and they watch you like a hawk shopping. I went in looking for hiking shoes to do Moanalua Valley hike up to the top of the Haiku stairs and these guys set me up with the perfect pair of Salomons. My legs were jelly after completing the hike but my feet didn't hurt at all even after the next couple of days. The crew at Uloha were fast to offer help and very informative with their products. This place is AMAZING! I'm a casual hiker who likes to get out of the house on the weekends and explore my surroundings. I've done quite a few hikes around Oahu in my running shoes and usually get by. It's just tougher on the muddier trails. But as I started to do the more challenging trails, like 3 peaks, I figured it'd be optimal for my personal safety to pick up a pair of hiking shoes. I stopped by a chain running store to see what they offer, and not only has the worker never heard of 3 peaks/Olomana Trail, but he claimed they don't sell Merrells or Salomons on island. A quick Google search pulled up Uloha, so I dropped by and VOILA! An awesome selection of hiking shoes, including Merrells AND Salomons, other hiking gear, but best of all, the most helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff that gave us one-on-one attention and made sure we were getting the right pair of shoes for us. Have you tried to purchase a pair of hiking boots on Oahu lately? I honestly had no idea where to look for a pair of boots--I've only ever bought then on the Mainland, and with no more big box sporting good stores, I felt lost. I typically order online, but I really needed to put my feet into some boots and try them on...pronto. Yes, I could have ordered online, had them shipped, tried on, shipped back or exchanged whatever didn't fit. But I really needed to get some boots and work on breaking them in in the upcoming weeks. A friend suggested Uloha, and I went to check them out. Having done my research ahead of time, I found that Uloha carried 2 of the names in hiking boots that seem pretty popular brands--Merrell and Keen. I'm familiar with both brands, so I was happy to find them at Uloha. I tried on a few pairs, and got some sizing advice. I was lucky that they had what I needed in my size. Uloha is co-located with Climb Aloha, and they allowed me to walk around both stores in the boots to be sure they were comfortable. The prices are competitive with what can be bought online/at popular Mainland outdoor gear shops, with the added bonus of not having to wait and/or pay for shipping. Both shops carry oodles of outdoor gear, from hammock swings to hiking poles, hydration bags, rope...all kinds of things that I have no idea what are for, but I'm sure climbers and other outdoors folks would appreciate. The employees are super helpful, and pointed me towards a great trail app, too. The shops have been there just over a year and are located in what used to be the tofu factory. It wasn't easy but I found a store online and just stopped in. Uloha at 515 Ward Ave and built into the Climb Hawaii store which sells climbing gear. Uloha is like a small version of REI, only place to buy high quality hiking and camping gear like Kelly, Marmot, Jetboil, MSR, etc on Oahu. Has a good selection of packs, bags, pads, food and both books and maps for local trails. And prices are similar to mainland, so I recommend stopping by to check them out. read more
