STAY AWAY! These people have no idea how to install anything without it looking like crap. They've had to fix our backsplash in the kitchen and tiling in the baths. I can't even tell you how many wood boards they've replaced in our home because no one knows how to install anything. Our wood flooring was chipped and peeling when we moved into our new home. When they replaced those boards the ones surrounding them were then chipped. Absolutely horrible! read more

I have had a TERRIBLE experience with these guys and will be asking for my deposit back. The person sent to do the job did not speak English, was unprepared for the job, did not have the correct tools, and was given the incorrect flooring to install! I did not get anything close to an apology from the "supervisor" I communicated with at the store, but instead she said she "would have to reorder" the correct flooring and would "send someone who speaks English this time". The more this woman said the more alarmed I became . There are just too many RED FLAGS to ignore. After this ridiculously terrible experience, I called my salesperson to discuss my concerns with her, and left her a detailed message on her cell phone. She didn't call me back. This was incredibly disappointing. I waited until the end of the day and called the General Manager, and left him a detailed message on his voice mail explaining my concerns. He didn't call back. This is unbelievable!! This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced, and that says a lot, as I'm in my 50's and have had a lot of work done on my house. It's just astonishing to be mistreated this way. Since they've treated me with such abysmal disregard before doing any work, there's no way in the world I would let them lay another hand on anything I own. read more

I have to add my experience to the long list of one star reviews for this business. Our remodeler had a relationship with Floor King and so we used them for our tile and flooring. They installed wood flooring that was not what we had ordered (boxes were incorrectly labeled by manufacturer) but they agreed to replace. Tile flooring was not installed as requested on the diagonal with no grout but instead was installed in lines with wide grout lines. It was down; we let it go. Fast forward to years after the remodel. First, we made a small change in the bathroom and needed a few more pieces of tile. The exact same tile was out of production. Floor King was not interested in working with us to find an alternative. We went to Tile Guy; they helped us find almost an exact match and were very, very helpful. A second time, I again needed a few more floor tiles where I had removed some built-in shelves. Again, I was told the exact same tile was out of production. It was suggested that I just fill in the space with concrete !!! Once again, I went to Tile Guy and immediately found two selections that are very similar and will make a very suitable match. At Floor King, when you walk in the store, all the employees are sitting at desks looking into computer screens and there are no customers. At Tile Guy, the store is full of customers and every employee is working to help people. read more

Communication from this company sucks! The end result is good; the tile and carpet both look great. However, the journey to that end result was abysmal. Be sure to do your homework ahead of time! We were replacing carpet on the whole second floor and stairs of our house. When we bought the house, there was carpet int the master bath, which we weren't to keen on, so we decided to replace it with tile. The tile crew came in on Thursday to start prep of the floors. At the end of the day, they told me they would be done the next day, which I thought was pretty amazing. They told me they had to level the floor because the subfloor was not flat. I'm not sure if this is an automatic upsale or not, but I agreed, mainly because the house had been a mess for more than a month and I wanted it back together. They did bring back the tools the following Monday, after I had done all the work. They finished up the job late on Friday and bolted... with my tools that I had left on the bathroom vanity to remove the doors and toilets where they were working. Great! Now I have to go scrounge the tools I need from a neighbor in order to replace the doors and toilets. I had been in contact with our sales person to schedule the carpet portion of the job. I was told they would be here the following Tuesday to start the job. We were concerned because I had to be out of town and my wife had obligations outside the home for most of the week, so we had a tight time window. Tuesday morning, we saw no crew at 10 AM, so I called to find out what was happening. The sales person had no clue about the installation of her job (inexcusable, in my opinion,) and said she had to call the crew chief to find out what was up. The crew chief called us back to blame it on a paperwork mix up and reschedule the job. This forced us to rework our schedules to get the carpet installed close to when id had been promised. The carpet crew did show up for the second scheduled appointment, but without enough carpet to finish the job. It's like working with the Three Stooges. When they left, they still needed to come back to finish a closet (not a big deal,) and the stairs (a big deal!) The crew shows up to finally (we hope!) finish the job. This time, while I'm trying to work in my home office, the crew on the other side of the wall is blasting some Latino top 40 station. This was totally unprofessional. They never asked if it was OK, just plugged in the radio and blasted away. In light of all this, I would expect some kind of appeasement from them. Maybe, waive the upsale on the floor leveling. But nothing. They drop the ball, multiple times, on our job and never took ownership for all the headaches they caused. I will never give this company my future business or recommend them to anyone. read more

We had to use Floor King because our home builder contracts with them. From the start, it wasn't great. The design person (Alexis) wrote down the wrong wood flooring from what we chose initially, and we did not notice it in the final report (our fault) so the wrong flooring was installed. They would not do anything about it when we discovered the wrong flooring in our new home. (Alexis even wrote a dismissive email about it, and when we contacted her manager, it still was not resolved.) After all of that, the flooring looked nice, so we decided to just keep it so we could move in on time. Well, upon inspection time it was evident that either the wood was not quality or the installation had been poorly done. There was splintering throughout the flooring as well as bubbling on some surfaces. It also scratched easily. Fortunately our home builder's superintendent helped us contact Floor King because IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone at this location. Bobby finally called me and said he'd send his "field guy" out and they would either replace a few pieces or they'd have to submit a claim. That field guy was late and did not call to let us know. I will update this once we get this resolved. At this point I would not only not recommend Floor King, I would run if offered their services. read more

We had to use them because our new home came with their floors. After moving in we realized they had not placed the tiles in the master bath correctly so that had to be replaced. We're also having to have the hardwood laminate floors redone because they are all coming up due to incorrect installation. We're not looking forward to having to move out of our new home only to move in. They were also not polite enough to take off their shoes and ruined one of my rugs. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

I called this location for help with a laminate and was very RUDELY told by a woman salesperson that she couldn't answer my question and made to feel very stupid. I asked for some idea of t prices and she stressed that it was just impossible to do. Didn't offer any help or suggestions. When we began our carpet search I was told Floor King carried the brand we were looking at as even though on principleI had decided i didn't even want to use them because they were so unhelpful I called again and hoped I didn't get the rude woman. No luck. She corrected my pronunciation of the carpet and then laughed at me when I asked for a range of prices on the type of carpet and said No, there are just too many. Again did not say anything about her experience with that type, offer any information on it, give me even an idea of what I could expect price wise. Every other place I've called has spent time on the phone with me trying to figure out what I wanted and what information or help they could offer. One star seems too generous. What a horrible experience. My floors were installed via Floor King (new home purchase) in all areas but bedrooms and bathrooms. I reached out to FK to install in my bedrooms prior to moving in - no response. Obviously they are too busy with their homebuilder contracts - fair enough. I hired someone else to do the bedrooms - SUPERB job and responsive. Now to the hellish experience with Floor King to fix areas that THEY installed that are buckling. My site superintendent contacted them and made arrangements for them to come out same day I had a few other repair folks scheduled. They were the ONLY no-show. No call, no email - nothing. After additional emails - they said they had me on the calendar for another day. ANOTHER vacation day wasted for an issue of poor workmanship on their part not mine. So they say I am on the 'AM" list. That means they can show up anytime between 8am and 12noon and they are guessing repair will take 4-5 hours. AND they expect to use the wood I purchased for the repairs to the floor THEY did wrong. Well past noon - I email the office gal - she says the superintendent told them to be here between 10am - 4pm. I asked if that means they might show at 4pm and expect to work for 5 hours??? She writes back that they are 20 minutes away AND they contacted the homeowner. They did NOT. Lie - I have been carrying my cell phone around the house including the bathroom so as not to miss a call or text. They arrive. NOT in any Floor King-branded shirt, no signage on van. Oh and no English. So how they could have contacted me when they have extremely limited English language skills - mystery to me. BUT here they are at 2:30pm using MY supplies and since they can't speak to me- I have NO idea how long the repair will take. I asked and got no answer. If you get sufficient business from big builders and can't then back up your work after the fact - just say so. They do NOT care about wasting the time of people who work and can't just sit at home day after day waiting for them to possibly show up. read more

Floor King installed hardwood floors throughout much of our home, a tile and hardwood checkerboard pattern in the dining area, and tile in the kitchen and an office space. Throughout the process, they were very professional and helpful, organized, and committed to our satisfaction. We dealt with Roy Whitaker, who was completely dedicated to ensuring that we were 100% pleased with the job, and we are. The installers were extremely conscientious and focused on making sure that every detail turned out correctly. It was easy to tell that they took pride in doing the job right - which seems to be a rare sight these days. There were a couple of issues that we wanted addressed, and in each case they were taken care of to our complete satisfaction. We had a dishwasher leak in our home that required 1500 square feet of flooring to be ripped up and replaced. Allstate hooked us up with Bill Delamar at Floor King. At that point, everything started getting better. Bill was patient, calm, professional, and subtly witty. I liked him! He was never pushy and always fair. Our floors are beautiful, better than they were before the floor. The installers were amazing professionals, and everything is perfect. I am totally impressed with Floor King. We had a great experience with Floor King. Jenne was our consultant and she worked with us for months to help us find just the right tile for our house. She helped us pick the tile, design the layout on the floor and was very patient as it took a long time for us to make a decision. She understands her business and was able to give us very helpful, cost saving advice. The team that laid the tile was phenomenal. They worked hard, too pride in their work and cleaned up very well after themselves. There were a couple of things we needed changed along the way and they were so gracious to accommodate us! We got multiple bids and not only was Floor Kings the cheapest, they offered the most help and accommodation of any of the floor companies. They carry quality products and have excellent sales people and craftsmen to do their work. We are so happy with our floors and would highly recommend Floor King. read more

I've never dealt with such rude and incompetent people. Bathroom floors were installed incorrectly according to the flooring manufacturer. This was after the tiles started coming up. Floor King tried to stand by how it was installed! Fortunately it's a new home and builder worked with me to get our floors fixed. The first bathroom they sent an installer named Ivan. He's incredible, he did everything exactly how it was supposed to be done and it looks fabulous. The master bathroom they sent the original installer who just argues and won't take responsibility. They tore my floor up a week ago and haven't been back since. And now I'm not even on the schedule. So you get angry because you're wrong and you leave your customers with splintered subfloors. Are you kidding me??? And fortunately I've never actually bought anything from them after price comparisons they are ridiculously expensive and then don't install properly. Stay away, find a better company! One that actually cares about what they deliver. I just moved to Texas and it hasn't been the best welcome! read more

I had new flooring installed in my investment house, and was referred to Floor King, specifically, Brian Dover, by my real estate agent. I met him at the house the next day, he had samples in hand, he drew a floor plan of the house, then emailed me the estimate that evening, and I could not believe the price. I had received other bids, from Home Depot, Lowe's and another from another local company. Brian's price was MUCH LESS than the other proposals. Home Depot was $2,356.40, Lowe's was $2,289.32 & the other company was $2,674.30 and the bid from Floor King was $1,837.12 - Brian even rounded the price down to $1,825.00. Holly cow, the savings of $849.30 & $531.40 & $464.32 - 20.28% & 22.55% & 31.76% LESS. I called Brian the next day, he answered his cell every time I called, even at 7:30 the night before the installation. We scheduled the job for that Wednesday. The day before the scheduled installation both Brian and someone from Floor King called to confirm the install day & time - time being between 8:00 - 11:00. I was still moving some breakables, and I thought I would be done in time. That evening I still wasn't ready - I called Brian the night before the scheduled installation and he moved the install day to Thursday. The installers arrived at 8:30 Thursday morning, there were only two guys to do the job. My house isn't gigantic, but it is a 2 story and 2,300 sf. I thought it would take 2 days to finish. The installation team was done & driving away at 4:30 that afternoon. 8 hours, and the carpet job was nearly perfect, I couldn't see any seams, the house was vacuumed, but there were some carpet fibers & paper left in the driveway. Brian Dover, emailed me that evening to check on the install & we spoke the next morning. I was very happy with my experience with Floor King, and I plan to call Brian the for my next house. -- I had a contract on my house 12 days later! read more

Let me start by saying, Brian Dover is awesome! I was two days away from putting my house on the market and everything was looking great. All I had left to do was get the carpets cleaned when I found a HUGE 3ft x 5ft reddish stain under my exercise mat! Needless to say, I was freaking out! My realtor referred me to Brian and he was at my door literally within 5 minutes of my call. He came in, assessed the carpet (which definitely had to go in that room!) and called me that same day to tell me would have technicians there first thing in the morning to replace it. True to his word, his crew came in, took care of replacing the carpet, and did a fantastic job. I had great new carpet by 10 a.m. and Brian came within the hour to personally follow up with me. Thanks to Brian I was able to proceed with selling my home as planned. He was wonderful, professional, and on top of saving me from having to delay selling my home, gave me an excellent price! Choosing a good quality flooring company is not an easy task. Without looking at Yelp we visited FloorKing on 183 for an estimate. Our Sales Professional Ken, was a great guy who quickly was able to match the material we needed for a couple of bedrooms. (Mannington wood). He provided us with a quote on the spot - however did let us know that he would have to measure to confirm the actual quantities. I went back to Ken after I had another quote and asked for reconsideration of his bid. He came back with a competitive price and we accepted the bid. BTW the actual measurement came out higher than I had thought. The installers showed up ON TIME and were extremely professional. They covered the floor areas they would be walking on with a really good waffle paper product to make sure there were no issues over the existing wood floor. It almost sounds like an entirely different company from the post above. When the Floor King team arrived they fought with their dispatch over what was on the ticket and then tried to argue with my wife saying the job could not be done in one day. The leader of the team then argued more with his boss and rest of his team in front of us. The supervisor at the store then had to call them and me to ensure the job would be done in one day. This did not help the team at the house putting in the floor. They fought with each other and several times they hushed themselves to try and keep us from hearing them cus at each other... The day is not over...neither is the job. Will post later as to the quality. Hopefully that is better than the professionalism and teamwork they have displayed here in my home to my pregnant wife and I. read more

I see complaints here about the installation process with Floor King, but that wasn't the problem I had, and why I recommend you look elsewhere for your carpet needs. My issue is with the carpet itself. Actually, the carpet I bought is very nice quality, but I mentioned to the salesman - EZ - several times that I had two dogs and needed a carpet that wouldn't run or pull easily. He assured me that the carpet I picked out "was perfect" for my situation. In fact, the carpet couldn't be any worse for a dog owner. They can't even walk across it without catching and pulling a piece. So now I have carpet that will need to be replaced far sooner than it should have been. Floor King and EZ could have easily sold me another comparably priced carpet that better suited for my needs, so I don't feel like they cheated me financially. They just didn't seem to care enough to help me make a better decision. Shame on me for not being a more informed purchaser; shame on Floor King for not putting their expertise to use for their customers. read more

I am currently in the process of purchasing a home in the Enclave at Rough Hollow, Lakeway. Centerra's custom homebuilder, River Oaks, is completing the house. The salesman who had accompanied us to the model home, assured me that I would be able to choose the interior décor of the house when I met with the representatives from Floor King. I met with Rennie Popp and Lisa Roberts at Floor King. The meeting went fine, but I noticed there were no checklists or inventory sheets to keep track of my selections- the ladies were handwriting things down on scraps of paper. I took pictures of selections and 4 hours later, was on my way. In early April, on a Friday, I received a call from Lisa Roberts at Floor King. The backsplash that I had chosen back in November was discontinued and I had until Monday to pick out a new backsplash. Immediately I was worried- to change a backsplash tile in a kitchen would affect the granite countertops and the flooring. But as I felt rushed and without another option, I drove to Floor King that Sunday to selection something new. My mother and I took pictures of our new selection with the granite I had already picked. Not long after, the cabinets went up. They were exactly what I had told the home builder's saleman, Lisa and Rennie I did not want. The cabinets were all one height and the wrong size for our tall kitchen walls. Then the backsplash went up. It was not what I selected. Floor King sent out and representative with the sample I had picked, and agreed with my Realtor who met him at the house, that it was not the selection I picked. Although Floor King denied any responsibility for the backsplash mistake, they eventually had to rip all of it down and we decided to finish the house without it and do it ourselves after we moved in. During this time, I would check back to the pictures of the samples I had selected to compare to what had been installed already and noticed that the samples always seemed much nicer than what had been put in my home. When I, or my husband, would mention it to Lisa or Rennie, we were told, "that's what you receive with a production house", although River Oaks promotes itself as a custom homebuilder. Later the floor was put down and covered with brown sheet paper to walk on and was covered in dirt where it showed through the paper. I walked through the garage and noticed a clean piece of the wood flooring. I took it home and reviewed the pictures I had taken at Floor King back in November 2013 and it was not the same wood floor I had chosen. I informed the President of Centerra Homes, the salesman, Lisa Roberts, Rennie Popp and our Realtor, and have yet to here how they plan on redressing the problem. Today is June 23, 2014. As of today, we have no tub in our master bathroom, the entire first floor hardwood is wrong and needs to be replaced with the hardwood I chose back in November, the sink in the powder room has not been replaced plus various other small problems that need to be remedied. I had heard that Floor King was an outstanding supplier of home interior décor with a reputation of quality work and superior customer service. Unfortunately, we have been disappointed throughout our experience with their customer service. If I could have rated them a zero, I would have- read more

Our realtor recommended Floor King when we were updating our home to sell it. They did such a poor job installing the flooring that we had to pay someone else to take the baseboards off, cut them and reinstall them. Also, freshly painted walls, doors and jams had to be repainted due to the damage Floor King caused to them while installing the floors. I was given partial credit for their bad installation. But, when I asked that they pay the full cost of repairing the damage they caused, they didn't even trouble themselves to respond, let alone pay. This is after I paid them over $7,000 for flooring and carpeting. I would not recommend them based on this experience. read more

This company is a case study on terrible customer service. I worked with them in 2010 for a flooring repair of engineered hardwood floors - no complaint then. I have a new/similar project and it's been about 2.5 months of literally chasing these guys down, getting told to speak with numerous different contacts who all tell me something different. I finally had someone on-site to measure and provide me a quote for the work. After not hearing from them for 10 days after the appointment, I had to email and call multiple times only to learn that they are referring me to speak with someone else who I'm still not sure is within the Floor King organization or not. I now have to wait for his call to see if he can even do the work and what he needs for a quote. It's like having to beg them to take my business, and worse, I've waited 2.5 months now to basically start over at square one. I do not recommend anyone working with Floor King - as a new or repeat customer. Awful and a HUGE waste of time. read more

We're very disappointed with Floor King. About a year ago, we had our entire home's carpet replaced. We were happy with the installation and the customer service. Last week, we called them to see if they could replace a corner section of carpet that we had to cut out due to a bad pet accident. We knew it was going to be a small job--not much money in it for them--but thought that they'd keep in mind how much we spent the previous year. They sent a salesperson out. He checked out the job. Told us there was no money in it for him, but that he'd call us soon and schedule someone to come out. A couple of days went by and we heard nothing. My wife called and left a message. The call was not returned. My wife called again a few days later. The salesperson got on the phone and was very short with her. No apologies for not getting back to us or for not returning her call. He said someone would get back to her by the end of the day. Surprise...no call back. That's the last time we'll be talking to Floor King. read more

After 3 estimates from other companies, I was referred to Floor King by a realtor. Dealt with salesman Brian Dover. Took him after the initial contact, 3 days to return my call. Met with Brian at the North Austin store where he provided me with a carpet sample and a guestimate on what it would cost for carpet and installation. Said he would go by the house, measure and give me a concrete estimate. Took him an additional 3 or more days to get it which I had to contact him twice for. Once I received it, which was ALOT cheaper than the others, and set up the install day, Brian emailed me the day before to confirm. I replied with a couple more questions. He didn't reply so I had to contact him the morning of the install. Install went well and product was of good quality(this was a house we were remodeling to sell). I have NO complaints about the install or carpet itself. After the install Brian emailed me(he would never call me) to ask if the install went well that he hasn't had an opportunity to go by the house but would. I replied and said I would double check the completed install, thinking, from his email, that he would also check. Several days later I still hadn't heard from Brian. No contact with me at all. Next thing I see is a CCard charge from Floor King for the balance owed. I didn't authorize this charge. I was planning on going in person after Brian checked the job which he never contacted me about. I made contact by phone with a sales manager(can't remember his name). First thing this manager said was, "what can I do for you buddy". VERY UNPROFFESIONAL! I explained which he said he would talk to Brian about his lack of communication. Didn't really seemed too concerned. Brian contacted me by phone a short while later and said he did check the install after it was completed but neglected to contact me. He apologized for both the lack of communication and for them charging my CCard without my authorization. So to sum it all up. If you decided to do business with Floor King. Their prices are good and the install was fine. But if your want better communication with a salesman, DON'T deal with Brian Dover. Deal with someone else. I would have given Floor King 3 stars but for the manager being unprofessional. read more

We had an excellent experience with Floor King. I called on a Friday about installing wood flooring in one room of our house. Talked to Jenne, explained the product I wanted, and she came by Monday to measure. The job was completed on Thursday. The guys who showed up to install were really nice, too. I assumed since this was such a small job (the room is only 12X14 feet), that I wouldn't be at the top of their list for service... this didn't turn out to be the case. Everyone was extremely professional and got the job done in an amazing amount of time. So quick! I will use them when we decide to replace our carpet. read more

David Haskell at floor king is awesome! There are not enough words in the English language to praise the amazing job that they did in my house! I have had 100s of vendors through my home in the past year (with a giant remodel), and floor king was by far the best. David helped me with my entire floor--wood, carpet, tile, laminate, and granite. David's team did such a great job, that I have contractors complimenting the floor work. The best thing is that David is willing to work with any price point. He's fast, thorough, and extremely pleasant to work with. I would never do flooring with anyone else! We have used Floor King on two projects now including new carpet in our home and new tile in our dining room. Overall, the quality of the actual work performed is pretty decent for the price so I am giving them an extra star for that but we had dealings with the same sales gal here both times and I have give this place 2 stars because of her poor attitude and service. She was very rude after the project was completed. Rather than ask us if we'd like to use the same credit card on file that we used for the deposit to complete the remainder of the transaction, she simply charged the card again. When we contacted her to fix the issue she responded very rudely and refunded the card and charged it again without verifying that was the one we wanted to use. We had our house struck by lightening and the refrigerator leaked and warped our hardwood floors. Called our insurance company and they gave me the name of a general contractor. They came out and told us our insurance company would only fix door to door frame. I told him that the flooring was continuous through out the whole house. He left and I called the insurance company for another flooring company and they gave me Floor King. That was the best part of the whole experience. Bill Dellemar gave me such wonderful and helpful information. He told me to request an adjuster to come out which I did. Bill was there at the same time and they both agreed that the complete house needed new hardwood floors. The instillation could not have gone better. We were living in a hotel and these men which spoke very good English worked so hard and so late and finished exactly when they said they would. From the time Bill came out to 10 days later we were back in our house with beautiful hardwood floors. read more
